Boy howdy was the food DELISH! Some of the best Tex-Mex in Abilene. One of the oldest restaurants in town and that’s for a reason. I highly recommend the chili relleno, their rice and beans and also amazing!

Google
Local, family owned restaurants are amazing and this one does not disappoint. They are always packed when they are open, the food is absolutely delicious. The BEST chili rellenos in town are served here, their egg batter is perfect. They have fantastic enchiladas as well. The salsa has a perfect amount of spice and a fresh, delicious flavor. You can frequently find chunks of fresh vegetables in it to add to the evidence of its freshness. The chips are crispy, never greasy. Great job Farolito!!

Google
By far this Mexican restaurant is one of the best in town. If not, the number one place I would suggest going to if you want original Mexicana and good food regardless of who is sitting around you is very good food, Very fresh and cooked right and very delicious at a decent really affordable price for lunch. They have specials around 6.50$. You get your food super fast and ready and it is super delicious food and you always want to come back and for the price. It is not where I’m coming from. When I say it is delicious. It is one of the most delicious restaurants in town. it blows all of the other chains And all of the other independent owned mixed menu restaurants away.

We loved everything about this place. The restaurant is the oldest in Abilene, still serving authentic Mexican food. We had the taco plate.

Google
Simple...some of my favorite Mexican food. The food is stupid good. Every bit of it. And these folks take care of you. Fresh ingredients used daily. This joint is a home run. Hit it up. You won't be able to stop thinking about it.

Google
Nice hole in the wall kinda place. Awesome staff and service - hands down! Seems to be popular with a crowd, but a small dining area so come early. Clean, but very outdated. This place needs a makeover. The margarita was great, the chips were fresh, and the queso was okay, but everything was terribly over-salted. The cook is heavy-handed with the salt, so if that's your thing you'll like it. It's not hard to find, but it's not easy to get to either.

Google
Best Mexican food in Abilene! Hands down! 86 years family owned and operated. Bottle beer and house margaritas too.

Yelp
This is our favorite place to eat in Abilene! Absolutely delicious and great service! We love the chips and salsa - we often get some salsa to take home! The beef enchilada lunch special is our favorite - the sauce is amazing!!! Highly recommend! They are open weekdays, 11-2.

Yelp
It's taken me years to finally try Farolito's!. They're only open Monday-Friday, and close at 1:45pm, so you've gotta come for lunch. The location is a bit tucked away. The atmosphere is like a blast from the past. They've been open in Abilene since 1936! I'm just not used to flavors like this, but I'm highly used to Tex-Mex so that might be the case. Salsa was on the salty side, queso a bit bland. The meals itself were so good! Would happily come back.

Yelp
Great food, great s service. Family owned and passed down to new generations for over 80 years. Hard to find, incredibly popular lunch spot for the tradesman crowd. They know great food and reasonable prices. Good luck getting in on Fridays.

Yelp
Go give this local restaurant a try. The queso is wonderful. I had the enchiladas with quezon on too and fried egg!!!

Yelp
The second oldest restaurant in Abilene, and the best Mexican food in Abilene. 100% recommend!

Ottis C.

Yelp
I have been eating here for over 2 decades and they are consistently good food. Every time without fail, the decor definitely needs updating; as it has been the same for over 20 years.

Yelp
This is always been one of our favorite places to eat. Great food great service and the most awesome hot sauce! If you really want hot hot sauce just ask and they are happy to serve!

Yelp
The service is second to none, our waitress Nicol had are chips and salsa full the whole time as well as our drinks. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Wait till you try the habanero salsa.

Yelp
Came here on a cold and rainy day just as the lunch rush was winding down and was hoping to get warmed up with some great Mexican food and this place didn't disappoint. It reminds me of some of the old-school, unchanging tex mex joints I went to with my family growing up and that's part of the charm for me. Food ain't half bad either. I'm a creature of habit and my measuring stick for a good Mexican restaurant is cheese enchiladas or a platter that offers them. They passed with flying colors and then some. They don't try to reinvent the wheel, they just serve the classics well. My wife was quite pleased with the combo platter she ordered as well. The staff here are quite friendly and fast at getting what you want. Highly recommended for some old fashioned Tex mex in the Big Country.

Yelp
Open since the 1930's, Farolito's is one of many Mexican restaurants in Abilene. This place is anything but fancy, and I love it. The food is good and well priced. Hot sauce is on the spicy side but they will make mild for you. Daily specials and Tuesday night from 5 to 8 is all you can eat for $7.99. A great deal we go to quite often. Give them a try.

Yelp
We visited on a Friday night. The food wasn't bad, but not that great either. Nothing we ate was memorable enough for a return visit. The service was super slow. It seemed like an eternity between the time we finished our food and the moment our check arrived to the table. Most likely won't be back.

Yelp
The absolute BEST food eaten in two months! Kendra's service is five stars! The food was delicious!! Fresh brewed tea. The BEST place to eat! We'd had three strikes but Farilitos was a home run!!
google avatar

Jake D.

Yelp
It honestly is the best Mexican food in town only thing I could ask for is a little more selection but it shouldn't take away from the 5 stars if you can bring someone who has never been, you won't regret it!!! Mexican plate was great
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Great food, about as close to genuine as you can get in Abilene. Slow service, though. Will definitely be coming back. Try the chile rellenos!

Yelp
We have been to dinner here several times, and always enjoy our food. We have had their tamale plate, chicken fajitas, and their Mexican dinner. The complimentary chips & salsa are some of the best in town if you enjoy spice! The location is difficult to get to but once you follow the GPS for your first visit you'll never forget. The packing lot is small but there is additional parking just east of the restaurant. The service is great, and the environment is a that of a good local Mexican food restaurant.

Yelp
Great salsa. Friendly staff. Typical Mexican fare, but well prepared. I had the green enchiladas and hubs went all out with the Farolito Special...a huge amount of food. Solid fare at reasonable prices, plus they serve Jarritos soda!
google avatar

Denny F.

Yelp
I have heard about how great this place was and was not disappointed one bit. The salsa was the best I've had and the green chilli enchiladas were soooo good. We shared a side chilli relleno and it was amazing. It was different than what I've had before and was excellent. The tea was great. The place was spotless and the wait staff was spot on and very courteous. Wish if have visited her sooner and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best Mexican Restaurant in Abilene! Their Chile Rellenos are the best
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place!! There nachos are amazing but my favorite item them serve is a Mexican hamburger steak!! I try to venture off an try other items but this seems to always be my #1 go to choice if not the 2nd which is bean and cheese nachos. Love the tea always to have a "just brewed" taste to it. Waitresses are very nice an friendly. Although they could check on tables more often an not seem to just disappear...when it's busy I def understand but these times I'm talking about there was maybe 1-2 other tables occupied with no more then 2ppl who already had there food or waiting on food. But I still love the restaurant and food regardless

Yelp
The best kept secret in the Abilene since 1936 !!! I have been eating here since 1994 but all of the old timers have known about this place before I was ever born. A true part of Abilene history for sure. The food is soo good !! This is the real thing for Mexican Food. The portions have always been plenty. The staff is friendly. The salsa is fresh and spicy ! The price is a great value for the family to enjoy. It is off the beaten path and when you walk in you will feel the years roll back in time. If you visit Abilene ... put this on your bucket list !!!

Jeff G.

Yelp
Probably been 30+ years since I have been here. I'm pretty sure it's the same decor ... Food was really tasty and it was very clean. Fast efficient service so it's hard to beat. Would have been 5 stars if the portions had been somewhat bigger. It is somewhere we will try again ... And not wait 30 years to do so!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Sorry but chicken enchiladas were dry and stringy- service was great but food was not
google avatar

Janis T.

Yelp
I like the food here. Good old plain Mexican food at good prices. Don't let the slightly shabby looks of the place put you off. Today the lunch service was very good, but I've also been there when it was indifferent. But if you like to support locally owned businesses like I do, you'll want to give this place a try, and put it on your repeat list. I mean to try dinner here sometime also and see how/if it differs.

Yelp
I drove to Abilene from Austin to get a tattoo at a local shop, and my artist highly recommended this place. Well, I have to say, he was right! If you are looking for some fancy place, just turn around and look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a real down to earth kinda place, then you have found it. The enchiladas were spectacular and the the meat in the taco was not so greasy that it made the shell soggy. The chips were just the right amount of crispy and the salsa was delicious (not too spicy)! I will likely visit every time I come to town, and I will certainly recommend to anyone passing through. Just remember, it's the hole in the wall kind of place, so don't expect fancy. Just a good place to relax and eat some tasty food.

Yelp
Good food, great chips n salsa. Service was so-so, and their selection of drinks kinda sucked. They just have beer, wine and cheap frozen margarita's.
google avatar

Jenn W.

Yelp
This place definitely has potential. It is a quaint, "hole in the wall" spot, and the inside is very cool. But the service isn't the greatest (should refill chips and salsa and drinks) and the food wasn't outstanding. My husband and I keep going back because I want to see it improve.

S H.

Yelp
We went here on a Saturday night because we wanted to try something new and we were thrilled with the result! I had the Brisket Tacos served in soft and warm corn tortillas and they were excellent. One of the ladies I was with had the cheese enchiladas and she said she liked them better than most places we had gone in Abilene. The other lady had the supreme nachos and loved them, too. We cleaned our plates and then the waitress offered sopapillas and they were the perfect way to finish the meal! The building, decor, and history are really unique. This is the longest continually running restaurant in Abilene under one family, having been in operation since the 1930's. If you want great Mexican food at a really good price and a fun atmosphere, Farolito's is your place!

Yelp
This place is not fancy, but it has the best authentic Mexican food I have had anywhere in Texas! I always try something different from the menu each time I eat here and it has all been exceptional, full flavor food. The enchiladas are a personal favorite, whether traditional style, stacked "Alpine" style, chicken verde, or with sour cream sauce. Chile rellenos are the best I've had anywhere. Even the rice and beans are amazing. Will keep coming back here again and again, great prices and great food. Favorite place in Abilene, hands down!

Yelp
I went with my mom during lunch time. We had a seize the deal discount and forgot to inform the waitress so ended up paying for the dinner portions but only received lunch portions. The first red flag should have been the smell. It was muggy and had inadequate air conditioning. The waitress was very unexcited about her job and full of tattoos and had red hair. The rice was good but the beans and enchiladas were pretty bland. The chips and salsa were ok. The silverware was dirty. The inside was dusty. After being in abilene for as long as it has I expected better.

Maurice K.

Yelp
I have eaten at Farolito's for a long time. I love the food and service is awesome. I like prices of the food. Please don't change a thing. Thanks, The Gambler

Lauren L.

Yelp
I only give this place two stars because the food was hot and the tacos weren't the worst I've ever had. Other than that, I don't have much good to say about it. The salsa served with the chips was terrible. The tacos were small with blackened shredded beef (I didn't order blackened), and the rice was dry as a bone. It's a hole in the wall that's not a good hole in the wall. I won't be going back.

Alexa B.

Yelp
This place is definitely a "hole in the wall" with great authentic Mexican food! They have the best salsa by far and always give every person their own endless salsa serving! So good. Great lunch specials too!
