Miami’s 12 Best Ceviche Restaurants | Eater Miami

"This Coral Way mainstay since 1986 is an intimate, family-owned restaurant that is best known for its simple yet flavorful ceviche, marinated in lime juice, onions, cilantro, and Peruvian chili peppers. The mixto option is just as good, a mix of shrimp, fish, and squid bathed in leche de tigre. Both are served with sweet potato and cancha (crunchy corn). Round out the cozy experience with a bottle of Peruvian wine." - Juliana Accioly

The service is exceptional, you won’t find yourself looking for a waiter or waitress when needed. Renzo I’m not sure if he’s the main server but he has great customer service, patient and professional. The tiradito was definitely a 8/10. The chicha which is not made in house was delicious, 10/10. The restaurant look very clean and the ambiance is nice, they have tennis matches on both t.vs but no music. I have eaten at this establishment but I have also ordered take out and let tell you that I’m little disappointed with the price. The lunch specials are $15 but they charge you extra for an item that should already come with the food. For example a couple of weeks ago I ordered the fried calamari, it should already come with the salsa criolla but I had pay 4-$5 for it as a side which makes no sense to me because I’ve been to more than 10 Peruvian restaurants and they don’t charge you for the salsa criolla. They did add the tarter sauce which was definitely a 2/10. Lower your rates or add a drink to your specials I spent almost $50 on two lunch specials that didn’t even include a drink.

Google
Small jewel of a fine restaurant that's quiet, great food, service is to notch, great selection of wines. Been coming here since I was 12 yrs old. Strongly recommend especially for an intimate dining experience.

I hate to admit that for 15 years i have lived 3 blocks for this restaurant. The times I have looked in it has been near empty and I never gave thought to dining here. Tonight I did and OMG, the food is delicious, flavorful and authentic. I will be returning very soon.

Google
Awesome little Peruvian gem on Coral way. Just inside Coral Gables near the 27 ave. This restaurant has been here for 33 years. Great food. Great service. Great prices. Family owned

Google
Excellent Peruvian food and best tiraditos in town. But the dish that makes me go back time after time is the Seco de Chivo. Outstanding! Great selection of wines too. For dessert their home made alfajores are so good!

Yelp
As other reviewers have stated, Farolito can be described as a classic Peruvian restaurant, and more of a "mom and pop" type spot. You won't find fancy or extravagant decor here and when looking at the wines, the list of whites in particular wasn't very extensive and I think all were priced less than $50/bottle. The dining area isn't terribly large but it's well-appointed with dark wood chairs, white linen tablecloths and napkins and the place is well-maintained. Most everything about Farolito deserved 3.5 stars, though our waiter would rate higher IMO. Service on the night we were here was attentive from outgoing staff, and they didn't mind swapping the type of fish that was listed in the menu for a particular dish. If there was an upcharge to make such a change, they'd tell you up front what it was. Prices were reasonable and the food was good; we'd definitely come here again when in the area. There are a few other Peruvian/ceviche spots in the Gables and Grove that we tend to visit more often - though admittedly, those other spots do come with higher pricepoints than Farolito. There's no auto-gratuity on the bill here, but our final check listed one price if we'd pay in cash, or a higher final cost if we'd be paying with a credit card, which is something I'd not seen before in any restaurant.

Yelp
Wife was in the mood for some Peruvian food and decided to give this local spot a try. Although we drive by all the time today was our first time. They've been open for 39 years and really we had to kick ourself afterwards for not coming sooner. The restaurant is right on Coral Way. There is street parking but also they have a parking lot in the back. The inside is very cozy. They have TVs playing local games but without the sound so as to not interfere with your conversation. It was a Tuesday night and they had several tables going when we came in which was a good sign. We were greeted immediately upon entering. They have a nice selection of wine but we opted for a glass of wine and a Peruvian beer, called Cusqueña, which paired perfect with my meal. For starters we went with what we consider part of the staples of Peruvian cuisine, Ceviche Mixto and Papa a la Huancaina. Both were amazing. The ceviche was perfectly balanced. It had just the right amount of acidity without overpowering the fish. We asked for the spice to be on the side but when added it gives that perfect kick. The Papa a la Huancaina, I mean I would eat sheet rock if it had that sauce on it. It's so creamy and just the right amount of tang. We immediately said no to taking of our the plates just so we could soak up the remaining sauce with our bread. For entrees, we went with Jalea and the Pollo Saltado. The Jalea, which is really an appetizer meant for sharing except I wasn't sharing, was fried just right. It had a heaping amount of calamari, fish, shrimp and mussels along with Yuca fries. Yes everything is fried but it was fried just right. It wasn't oily or over done and the portion was insane. My wife enjoyed her Pollo Saltado, which is a variation of the traditional Lomo Saltado. It looked and tasted great. The only suggestion would be to have more sauce but otherwise it was on point. For dessert we tried both the Dulce de Lucuma and Bavarois. You can't go wrong with either but the Bavarois surprised me with how light and fluffy it was. It was like an airy merengue with peach bits and a sweet cream sauce. It was heavenly. But truly what made our experience even better was the service. Renzo provided stellar service from beginning to end. Not only was he great at answering all our questions and accommodating for all our special requests but was on point with timing on waiting till we were done with apps before firing our dishes. It dawned on me that although its great to visit hot and new places it shouldnt be at the expense of forgetting those that have been around and have figured out what it takes. Like I said in the beginning, they've been around for 39 years. There is a reason why, because they focus on the foundations of a good restaurant Food and Service. Definitely put them on your list of must try for great Peruvian food.

Yelp
Found this place walking by . Great service . Very nice family feel environment. Food was amazing .i was impressed with it . Lomo saltado was what most of us ordered at the table and we were not disappointed. No left overs it was that good .

Yelp
Excellent service the food is tasty fresh and delicious. The timing is great not much wait and the breas is incredible. The ceviche has lots of juice and supper ...outstanding compared to hundred of places I visited. The server was friendly and attention to all we needed. Is not a crowded place you can have a delightful quiet dinner with soft romantic music in the background. Cafesito was strong ...so good with the delightful dissert. Parking is in the back and enter trough the very clean kitchen where the cook welcomes you. Price is very reasonable. Wine was on the dot.

Yelp
First time at Farolito. Great friendly professional service. Had an awesome Seco of Cabrito / Chivo, as recommended by owner. Delicious well-balanced Ceviche to start. All we needed is a Pisco Sour. Good prices / value. Parking is in the back street.

Yelp
We went to Farolito this past Saturday afternoon to celebrate my Dad's Birthday. He loves Peruvian food and I had heard good things about this place. We were a party of 10 so I called the day prior and they happily set up a table for our group. The restaurant was very quaintly decorated with bottles of wine everywhere and artwork on the walls. From the time we entered the service was excellent. There were only two other tables accepted at that time and so we had two (2) servers standing by and waiting on us the whole time. While we waited for members of our party to arrive my wife asked the waiter if they had Sangria. While it wasn't on the menu, he happily said "I can make that for you. Would you like a pitcher for the table?". And that was the theme of the day. Very polite and friendly service and smiles all around. The food was really good too (see the pics!). We had a Jalea Mixta as an appetizer. It was so big that all 10 people ended up splitting it as the sole appetizer! Everyone in our party seemed to order something different, mostly seafood but a beef and a chicken dish as well. The seafood dishes included two different Ceviches, Fried fish and seafood stews. Everyone really enjoyed their food. For drinks the entire table ended up having the Sangria (or water) but the wine selection was pretty vast for a restaurant that size. Only my daughter had dessert (chocolate ice cream) and she liked it. But a few of us had Cuban Espressos and 'Cortaditos'. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and we will be back! Kudos again on the Service! Our Chilean waiter - Luis, was awesome!!!

Yelp
This place is great. I love the service and the food is amazing. It's a perfect place to have a romantic dinner. It also is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover because the outside looks a small but the inside is just Beautiful.

Yelp
I've been to this spot years ago and was exited to try it out again. Staff was super friendly and accommodating to myself and my wheelchair friend. I ordered a Riesling while I waited for my other guests and anxiously awaited the fresh bread. Waiter was very attentive and gave good suggestions when asked. I had the ceviche which was very small for an entree, but non the less it was delicious. My friends also enjoyed their food. I'd def come back because of how nice staff was and to try other menu items! only issue for someone in a chair is parking.

Yelp
Stoped by for lunch right after 3P and on a Monday afternoon. This little mom and pop was quaint and very homey with a family style dinning room. The parking is in the back of the restaurant, free of cost and the entrance is right through the kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. It gives you an opportunity, which you don't see often, to check out how clean the restaurant really is and I must say the kitchen was very clean so I was excited to try the food. At the table you're served fresh bread rolls which melted in your mouth and butter on the side. We had the Mixto Ceviche, Arroz frito Mar y Tierra and Papa a la Huancaina. The food was really good and it was very fresh. The presentation was clean and elegant, which was not what I expect for this quaint little restaurant. They have lunch specials from 12-3 and the cost for the amount of food and the freshness was very reasonable. Our waiters were so polite, humble, and friendly; really enjoyed their service. Will definitely be back for lunch.

Yelp
I was a little skeptical before coming it into this restaurant and once I did it was only amazing. The place is so nice inside, it was very romantic for our date and the service was good. The food was great as well.

Yelp
We called in our order so I can't tell you much about the dining room service but the service we received over the phone was awesome! I had looked at the menu online and had decided on what to get but when I called I couldn't find the page I was one with the list of the items I wanted. The man on the phone was overly patient and helpful even though it was around 1:30 and the restaurant was probably busy. He gave me suggestions and was very nice. I found my list; chicharrones de pescado, sopa de pollo, aji de gallina, and seafood fried rice. I called back to add maracuya juice and desert cookies. oh, I forgot their name. Any way the food was so very good. The man added at least half a dozen bread rolls, enough butter and green sauce. I love this place and can't wait to go in person to meet the very nice man on the phone.

Yelp
Very nice little Peruvian find. In the mood for some Lomo Saltado and came across Faralito. Nice little restaurant in the Brickell area. We started off with an order of mixed ceviche which was excellent. Ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was equally good. Service was great. If you are looking for a nice little spot for Peruvian, take a look at Faralito.
google avatar

Victor L.

Yelp
We had high expectations eating at Farolito. The place is very clean with nice decor. The food was a bit sterile, lacked taste. The reason I am giving only three stars is because I was lied to by the waiter. I wanted the fried fish platter and before ordering I specifically Asked what fish was being used, and the waiter told me it was fresh sea bass. I am a fish expert and when I got my plate it was anything but a seabass, it was a farmed Swai fish. This is misleading, unprofessional and illegal. The industry is doing this far to often, and it needs to stop. Customers are not dumb.
google avatar

Vero Z.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Farolito ceviche was delicious! Including . The aguadito soup was excellent. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes

Yuiro G.

Yelp
We had the Papa a La Huancaina, the bistec a la plancha, and the Pollo Saltado. From the outside it didn't look that appetizing, but when you walk in you immediately see the beautiful paintings and the decorated tables. The food is simple but delicious and the service was fantastic!
google avatar

Gabriela A.

Yelp
Still for me hands down the best Peruvian restaurant. Cozy, great service, Don Ricardo is a class act

Hamza L.

Yelp
Delicious Peruvian food and very nice staff. The only problem has was parking in the back and having to go through the kitchen to get to the restaurant. But that's minor, overall I recommend this place.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Ricardo, the owner makes you feel as you have been welcomed as a guest into his home. Ample parking in the back of the restaurant, leads you to enter through a quaint working kitchen and into a charming dining room of white tablecloths and an impressively eclectic selection of wines displayed among the decor. My favorite is the whole fried snapper, the best I have had in Miami or Europe. The entire menu though is of hand crafted dishes deliciously seasoned and aromatic. Reasonable prices, and true ambiance make this a regular staple for our family.

Yelp
Is a great Mom and Pop's restaurant in Cora Way. Traditional Peruvian Food. The tiraditos are amazing, most try the tuna tiradito with ají amarillo, the corvina with rocoto; Food is great, the service is attentive and on point. I like small restaurant with good food, and support locals.
google avatar

Leslie G.

Yelp
Fire fire fire fire fire! What great service what great food . One of my favorite Peruvian restaurant. The Tacu Taku with Lomo salteado haz Gatsby One Of My Favorite dishes the fish ceviche hands-down Hass to be one of the best in town definitely will be back and definitely recommend
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
If you like peruvian food dont miss out on this place everything is home made....ceviche and tiraditos are amazing.....great wine list and the cooked fish plates are front row and the prices are reasonable.

Susan H.

Yelp
This place is so good. The ceviche is delicious and the chicken soup is served hot and it is full of flavor. Loved it.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
I enjoyed a fantastic all around dining experience at Farolito. The atmosphere is cozy, but still very nice, the fish ceviche was just about perfect, the shrimp arroz chaufa reminded me of being a young boy in Peru (even though I was born and raised in Hialeah and my family is Cuban ) and the goat (or cabrita, as I believe the owner called it) was absolutely delicious! The staff was friendly and precise. The owner is extremely amiable and makes you feel like you're a regular even when it's your first time. There's even a wine connoisseur of sorts that made excellent recommendations at a reasonable price. I can't believe it took me this long to visit this place and I already can't wait to go back. Salud!

Yelp
Really nice neighborhood restaurant! Don't let the humble front door deceive you, their food is really good and the service is excellent. We entered the restaurant from their backdoor as it was raining and they allowed us to come in this way. We passed through their kitchen and i was impressed at how clean and tidy it was! I order the snapper and my bf the limit saltado both excellent choices. Will come back

Matthew B.

Yelp
My wife is from Peru and took me here for my birthday. It was great. The service was top notch as was the food. Thank you. While on vacation we ate at another Peruvian restaurant in Coral Gables that rhymes with Laromas and the service was not enjoyable. I would highly recommend Farolito.

Yelp
First time back since the pandemic began about two years ago. Years back, we always enjoyed our meals here. Now, not so much. First the good: service was good, bread was warm and good, papa a la huancaina was good and one of the main dishes ordered, the whole fried snapper was good. The bad: Grilled filet of Sea-bass. Firstly, I've never had such a thin, tough piece of sea bass. It was like eating a piece of leather. Two out of the three of us, unfortunately, ordered the grilled sea bass and couldn't eat it. It was also under seasoned. We asked for a side order of huancaina sauce to try and eat some of it but nothing could make it edible. We got charged an additional $6 for the small portion of the huancaina sauce. Also ordered yucca fries and I've had better at Pollo Tropical. We were not asked why our main course was barely touched. We were one of only two tables at the restaurant. To top it off, the owner was speaking politics with the only other table with one man. They seemed to be friends but were on opposite sides of the restaurant so we had the pleasure ( sarcasm) of listening to their political views while trying to enjoy what we could of our meal. It pains me to write this review because the owner has always been pleasant and the food used to be good. I'm hoping that this review may motivate them to improve. Also, inappropriate conversations should not be voiced loudly while patrons are in your establishment trying to enjoy an evening out. It's a shame but I will not be returning any time soon.

Tatiana F.

Yelp
Best place ever, the food is just amazing with a high quality service, price is really fair and the owner is realy polite and friendly. Definitivamente el restaurante con mejor comida y sabor.

Yelp
Sweet little gem on Coral Way! I found this place when looking for a restaurant where I could have a decent breakfast with some colleagues. We were pleased to discover they offer full service (white table cloths and all!) and full breakfast and lunch menus. I opted for a veggie omelette and cappuccino. The coffee was hot and well balanced as well as nicely presented. My omelette was perfectly cooked and the veggies were fresh and tender. I believe this was a two egg omelette which I much prefer to the bulky three egg omelette. It was served flat rather than folded over, akin to a frittata. It came with buttered Cuban toast. I asked for hot sauce and was rewarded with homemade Peruvian aji. Yum! Perfect complement to my breakfast and added a nice green kick. Service was friendly but not particularly great (a bit slow and chatty with other staff while we waited for our check). Overall a solid choice and I will be back to try the ceviche and other lunch specials, which are reasonably priced.
google avatar

Susan P.

Yelp
The lomo saltado is so good. Took one star off because the portion of beef is on the smaller side. Nonetheless the taste is excellent. One of the best in the area and I've tried most.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
I decided to give this place a 2nd try and again I was not impressed. I'm Peruvian and this place is over priced for the food and the quality. They need a real Peruvian chef. It's more like a franchise then a small owned business.
google avatar

Laura V.

Yelp
I've visited this restaurant on several occasions. Good local spot to enjoy Peruvian cuisine. This most recent time we ordered papa a la huancaina as an appetizer. I enjoyed my fish ceviche. It was delicious! Mom ordered cau cau de mondongo, and she was pleased. Granny had ají de gallina and of course only thought it was average as it didn't stand up to her mother's recipe. She finished off her meal with a cappuccino and Mom and I liked our alfajores. On previous occasions, my favorite dish was the grilled jalea. However the last time I tried it, it was lacking in what makes me love it. I will have to give it another try soon to see if it's back to my standard.
google avatar

Adyari M.

Yelp
The food here is so good. Their portions though are a little skimpy for the area and prices of their dishes. Appetizers are so tini tiny. They should address this. That would be my only complain. Delivery is good, you get your food as in the restaurant and they always get it right. Super flavorful ceviches and lomo saltado is to die for. Cute old school place with table cloths on the tables which make it extra special for you. Service is very good too.
google avatar

Denni J.

Yelp
My business partners and I having been coming here for year. The food is delicious and the service is great. There is free parking in the back and when you come in, you walk right through the kitchen which is always clean and tidy. Just about every time we go, the owner is there and he greets us and seats us himself. He obviously takes great pride in his business. My favorites are the Bistec de Pollo, Pollo Saltado & Lomo Saltado. The food is always delicious and they serve warm rols before the meal. I would HIGHLY recommend.
google avatar

Annette D.

Yelp
This a great Peruvian restaurant with authentic Peruvian food and and delicious wines. I highly recommend this hidden gem! You will absolutely love the experience!
google avatar

Frank E.

Yelp
This is the best place for a first date and amazing ceviche. The chef comes out and greets you like you where VIP

J S.

Yelp
My mouth was watering from the outset of this meal. The ceviche and green spice were delicious and scintillating. The owners recommendation of wine furthered a beautiful culinary experience. The lomo saltado, and the fresh grilled fish were beyond compare. If you are interested in a complete and enjoyable dining experience, this is the place for you.
google avatar

Maggie Marge R.

Yelp
It was good. I expected better taste. The caldo verde came way to much with rice and not to much of caldo

Evelyn B.

Yelp
We went for the first time this Saturday and we are very familiar Peruvian food. Loved loved there ceviche and the service was incredible. Next to our favorite radio station WDNA too. This is gonna be one of our regular restaurants. It was kinda romantic too. LOVED IT.
google avatar

Hernani A.

Yelp
Good good good. Food is awesome service is pretty good. Hey they have parking in the back, we didnt know. We had the pulpo that was alright but tacu tacu is amazing, ceviche even better and fried rice too, you gotta try the green fish yummy Would give 5 stars if had alfajores.... We liked it and will be back. Althought not very happy with having to pay $4.00 to share a dish.... We live close and sometimes just want to stop for a ceviche!

Ricardo A.

Yelp
The best traditional peruvian food in miami. The ceviche is one of a kind with great picante. They have a great selection of wine and beers to choose from including amazing desserts.
google avatar

Adry G.

Yelp
Very tiny place with an amazing taste! Came here with the mamma bear and brother for a nice and quiet lunch. I always pass by this restaurant but I've never gone in. I'm pleased to say that I was extremely satisfied with my food. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Perhaps eating at the restaurant is a different experience but when it comes to delivery they charge the same yet serve 1/2 the food. What a HORRIBLE experience. I placed an order and when I received it I checked it while the delivery man was still at the door I called the restaurant to complain about an octopus ceviche (didn't even get to the other order) that I was being charged $20 for when it was less than half a cup including the onions and lime juice. I'm sorry but I expect to pay that and above at a high end Restaurant. My husband Salgado de camarones barely had shrimp and they split the one order of rice into two compartments to make it look like it was more. We paid $50 for this!!! I'm furious and will Dispute this with my credit card company since the delivery driver said it was already charged and the gentleman I spoke to at the restaurant was beyond rude and said just to send back without offering a solution. It's sad that the owner has someone working for him that doesn't represent his business well and there wasn't even a manager to speak with. I would normally be kind since I've worked in hospitality but this was ridiculous and beyond unfair. Received 4 pieces of shrimp $20 for octopus ceviche less than a cup including onions and juice plus a side of oily over cooked fries $50?!?!?! Total thieves! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE
