"In this unusual bistro-style restaurant just a few metres from the Plaza Mayor and the ever-busy marina, the self-proclaimed aim is to create “inquisitive and evolving” cuisine. What is certain is that Farragua’s updated take on traditional dishes features plenty of fusion influences and nods to Extremadura, the native region of chef Ricardo Fernández Señorán, who is particularly at ease working with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients which he uses to create his signature escabeches. His cooking is firmly focused on his tasting menus: Asina, Mangurrino, Dejalamío and El Miajón. The restaurant has also developed a concept entitled “Arrieros” (named after the men who, in the past, would transport food from one community to the next), as part of which invited chefs help to create four-hand menus." - Michelin Inspector

We appreciated the simple but very delicious dishes of Chef Ricardo. He used local produce and products of the region to create wonderful dishes. He cooked everything to perfection and managed to take time to welcome all of his guests. It made us want to go back to Gijon to try his other creations. Kudos to Chef Ricardo!

Yummy! Chef Ricardo Señorán, from Plasencia (Extremadura), brings the raw soul of Spain’s interior to the northern coast — and Gijón is lucky to have him. At Farragua, he dismantles and rebuilds Extremaduran tradition with Asturian precision and a touch of Asian intellect. Every dish feels both ancestral and avant-garde — a dialogue between land, sea, and memory. It’s not just cooking; it’s cultural translation on a plate. We will be back! Muchisimas gracias, Sandy

While I appreciate the craftsmanship of each dish, I disagree with most reviewers. I felt that for the price of the basic tasting menu, the restaurant did not deliver. The portions left me feeling partially hungry and unfortunately, were not to my taste. Notably, the citrus in the trout dish was overpowering and did not allow the trout itself to shine. The chicken however was delicious. The dessert was not to a Michelin standard in my opinion, questionable presentation and overtly tangy. I still can acknowledge that every dish was of great quality ingredients, and I can truly see how passionate the chef is with his art. The service was also professional, and the staff have good English. With all things considered, I recommend visitors to try El Recetario instead, just a 10 second walk from Farragua, also featured on the Michelin guide and your meal will be €30 cheaper, with a better variety in half-portions.

Absolutely outstanding on every level. Ricardo Chef Owner serves up dishes that are a sensory revolution. We had the small menu for 4 people. Every course was an experience and so tasty. Ricardo came to the table on at least 3 courses and explained the dish. OMG if only we could have the recipes. It is a small venue, beautiful decoration, clean and exquisite top of table dishes. The staff are amazing and great knowledge with the food and wine list. Really one of the best restaurants have ever eaten in, couldn’t recommend it highly enough. A must if going to Gijon if you really love food and experience. Would suggest you book, it was completely full when we went in a Monday lunch and mainly by locals. Says it all.

An absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere and beautifully curated ambience set the tone for an exceptional experience. The food was outstanding — every dish was a perfect balance of flavor, creativity, and presentation. The chef’s personal touch was evident in every bite. Service was impeccable, with staff who were genuinely welcoming and attentive. A place where passion, care, and excellence come together effortlessly. Highly recommended!

Spent a really nice evening with friends in this nice restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. In particular I loved the lamb sweetbreads, which were so tasty and literally melting in mouth. Special mention for the chef, who also takes care of talking with customers. We had a nice conversation with him before and after dinner. Definitely a restaurant that I would visit again.

WOW! Michelin star coming soon! What an experience… The chef Ricardo is a fantastic person. The restaurant was full but we tried going at opening time and they make us eat before the reservations. The service is very attentive but not pretentious at all. The menu is authentic, local, tasty and various… a fantastic combination of umamy, acid, spicy… simply amazing! They also have a full list of Asturian wine to empathize the territori. We have tried the mistery experience: the menu “Asina” has 4 dishes (2 entrees + 1 fish meal + 1 meat meal) plus the dessert for 49€: super worthy. If you are around you must go!

We went as a family of 8 with a young child. We could tell that Chef Ricardo was extremely passionate about food and delivered an amazing 5 course surprise tasting menu for my family. The wine menu was extensive. We didn’t try the wine pairing but they did recommend a bottle of wine to pair with the food regardless. They were also able to accomodate a young child and families. Chef Ricardo personally explained each menu item and made sure that everyone was having a good time. Highly recommend coming to this restaurant in Gijon.
