Where to Eat and Drink in Johnson City, Texas

"The name is not a misnomer — this casual restaurant serves up enormous burgers made with Angus beef sourced from Texas, Black Angus Beef and served with fries (home or curly) or onion rings. Head to the Fatz Garten to relax and enjoy food under the live oak trees with some beers and wines from the on-site Beer Barn. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Darcie Duttweiler

I was super hungry so no food pic sorry. The place was nice and clean. It has good vibes 😎 You can eat inside or out. I had the guac burger, daughter had the steak fajita salad, and he had the bacon wrapped hot dogs. Both said their meals were delicious. The portions were just right…. A nap is needed lol

Google
Straight talk, solid 3.9⭐on my first stop. This place is making some solid food but making some serious rookie mistakes in my opinion as a hunter of great burger joints. -- When you order any type of cheese burger it should never come with the junk shredded plastic cheese you find in a salad bar. A solid slice of cheese that is properly sized to the patty is required! - I found the burger prices slightly high for this roadside setting. They are somewhat offset by the low cost fries but then again why not just include the fries in the price of the burger basket and call it good. The fries are hand cut and were good, think similar to Wendy's but a little thinner and also not oily which is nice. -- Gimmicky costs for every extra like a simple condiment topping or different type of bun $1-$1.5 each. Please stop this is not California. - Some flies to control. Not the worst Ive seen but simple traps from Rescue work amazing placed 30-40 ft away from where you don't want the flies to go. ++ Staff was friendly and the menu was diverse and there are daily specials. Plenty of seating outdoors and some indoors ( I sat indoors). Food came out reasonably quick. Noise level inside was decent. ++ Buns tasted fresh and were properly toasted without being greasy all over. + + Burger patty is a large portion and was medium finished moist but not dripping wet while eating (that is good). Beef was fresh and did actually have a noticeable quality beef flavor. Burger could be seasoned a little more and slightly more char / crust. *Maybe would thicken up the pickle slices to hang with the sizable patty. This place is definitely worth a stop and I believe can be greater with a little bit of effort. Thank you to the owner for the response and reading.

Google
What a great burger! Had OG fat boy burger and man was it good. We had both fries and onion rings, both were great. Next time going back to listen to music in their beer garden.

Google
Great burgers! The fries needed to be more crispy, rather than soft, to complement the burger. We had to sit outside in the tent since we had our Yorkie with us & the staff was great to turn on the heaters for us, as it was quite cold.

Google
Reviewing while still eating! Food took 45 mins to get when there wasn’t a lot of people. Patties are dried. Fries are not crispy, they almost taste old. Burgers have shredded cheese, barely any. They ran out of pickles. Service is not good. Cashier serving and catering to her boyfriend while we wait for our food. Unfortunately Will not come back!

Google
Fantastic burger and fries. I went on a regular week day for lunch so I can’t say about the stage out back and what goes on Friday and Saturday nights. Great place for a cold beer and burger while out in the Hill Country on a ride.

Google
Fat Boy Burger is a flavor-packed paradise! The burgers were *incredible*—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and crafted with premium ingredients that hit every note. But the real showstopper? The French fries! They’re crispy golden perfection, tossed in a bold, addictive seasoning blend that truly makes them **pop**. Every bite felt like a celebration of comfort food done right. If you’re craving a burger experience that’s bold, satisfying, and memorable, this spot delivers. Already planning my next visit! 🍔🍟🔥

Google
First time here I got the daily special I ordered my burger Pink nice and juicy and it came out perfectly. The home cut fries we're good I wasn't expecting the thin cut. That was a nice change. Play the super busy but the food came out pretty quick it was packed inside so I sat outside which was really nice. I think every county worker comes here for lunch.

Yelp
Amazing customer service and delicious burgers!! We stayed for a full hour to wait out a storm and enjoyed the atmosphere and food! 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Easy lil place to get some food. We got the dyra burger, a chicken bacon wrap and side of screaming eagle. Burger is a good classic burger. Had a nice charred taste to it. Fries have a lovely seasoning that is a little spicy. Something about the texture wasn't my favorite though. The chicken bacon wrap is nothing special, I wouldn't get it again. But I did fairly enjoy the house made chips. Screaming eagle not my favorite, I wish there was some of the spice from the jalapeño left but the chipotle ranch was a nice touch. Everything is very reasonable for the price.

Yelp
Meh. Passed by this burger joint in Johnson City traveling on 281. Turned around to come try it out. Got the special which was an Original Fat Boy with fries and drink. Original Fat Boy Burger 4/10 - the burger is a 1/2 lb with fixings. The patty unfortunately was pretty tasteless. After adding lots of salt and pepper, some semblance of flavor started to appear. Very disappointed. The veggies didn't seem as fresh as they should have. Average at best. The fries were average, nothing special. Service 3/10 - everyone seemed rushed and not friendly at all. No one smiled the entire time. Come on! Not impressed with the staff. Atmosphere 6/10 - it was good. Clean, fair amount of room and decorated good. Overall 3/10 - I want to give them another chance as maybe it was an off day? https://g.co/kgs/EskHoX Fat Boy Burgers (830) 868-0264 #fatboyburgers

Yelp
My buddy and I stopped by here on our drive from North of Dallas. We were starving and this place sounded amazing. We both thought our burger was perfectly cooked. We both got the deuce which is the 1/2 pound burger with grilled onions and mushrooms. I felt like the onion rings were under seasoned and kinda "meh" but the burger was amazing. My buddy devoured his chili-cheese fries and his burger. Overall the place is super good and I would highly recommend it. I am willing to bet it is a fun spot to be at night, drinking a few, enjoying the night.

Yelp
Classic road-house burger kind of place. Great atmosphere, definitely a local favorite judging by the packed dining room. Had the classic hamburger combo, pretty standard patty and fries, but it was nice and hot. Yikes, they gave me a quarter-head of lettuce on the burger, but that was easy enough to remedy. On the whole I'd recommend stopping in and supporting local business. Be sure that you have lots of time, though. Fat Boy may serve burgers but it's not a fast-food outlet, you'll be waiting on your food to be cooked to order, and they take their sweet time. This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Yelp
Found this gem on a road trip. Highly recommend stopping in for a burger, chicken sandwich or beer. We ordered the fat boy burger (added grilled onions) and the American (with jalapeño bun). Both were delicious. I recommend ordering on the jalapeño bun. The French fries were just okay but the sweet potato fries, zach's way were good!

Yelp
This is no doubt a local favorite. There was a steady stream of customers for the 1+ that we sat at our table. Fortunately for us, it looked like we hit just before the lunch rush. Now for the food!.... Starting with the Screaming Eagle Jalapeño Strips: Yes ma'am!! These things were really good. Fresh jalapeños cut lengthwise into strips, battered in tempura, and deep fried with a side of their Comeback Sauce. They say it's called Comeback Sauce because after you've tasted it, you'll comeback for more. They weren't wrong. It's a chipotle mayo sauce type dip that was definitely good! The only down was how much they charge for an extra sauce if you're so into it that you end up with your jalapeño strips outlasting your available Comeback Sauce... Dyna Meal (1/4lb Cheeseburger, fries, and a 16oz drink): Handmade Burger, fries and a coke for under $10? Good deal about any way you serve it. burger was cooked nicely. Great flavor. Meat was just right, not overdone, and well-seasoned. Fresh toppings and a fresh bun. Fries however, we're undercooked. That was a bit of a bummer because they had potential to be awesome fires. Perhaps the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed as the rush was comin' on. ‍ 1/2lb Bacon Cheesburger: This was a REALLY well built burger. Meat was cooked wonderfully (medium well. Not a grey briquet like you get at fast food chains that are afraid of the burger bugs) It could've used a little more love from the seasoning fairy but now I'm just being picky. The bacon was thicker cut, cooked nicely. Not too floppy and greasy and not hard like the stuff they use for takin' bacon bits. They have an outdoor seating area if you so choose that looks like they have live music quite often. If I lived here, I'd be back on these cool fall evenings ready for good burgers and great music.

Yelp
I live in a small town called Blanco and there aren't very many places to just go out and grab a quick bite. We do not have very much variety in Blanco but I found a place in JC, Johnson City, and it was one of the greatest finds. It is just a typical burger joint with awesome variety and options. We love the burgers and the tots and they also have some specials of the week that are really good. I love the Thursday steak finger basket special. I will say it is probably better if you eat there. They do have seating and the food is good but we usually do take out, and sometimes it doesn't keep all the way home. I will say the wraps are really tasty. I will say the service does leave a little to be desired. Each time I have ordered from phone call to pick up it just seems as if the employees are not wanting to be there. The greeting whenever they decide to get to the counter is as if they are so busy you are just a nuisance too bad no one has told them yet that the customers are the ones that keeps the place open. I know it is a lot of kids running the place so I hope the owner actually shows them how to treat customers. As far as a recommendation, I honestly caution you due to service but as far as food I would recommend for you to try it at least.

Yelp
Great day to sit outside and watch the antique cars and motorcycles cruise by. Burger was good, onion rings greasy and over salted, salad was good with fresh made ranch dressing was also good. Service was excellent food delivered in about 10 mins.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Deeeelicious! Everything was made to order, friendly service from both the bus boy and the cashier. And not crazy expensive. Absolutely would go back! We have got the fried jalapeño strips... the tempura batter really makes them so good. Inside was very cold though, not bad on a hot summer day, but we still opted to sit in the garden. 12/10 would for sure go back!!

Yelp
Stopped here when passing through town. Plenty of easy parking. Wasn't crowded on a Saturday around 11:15am. Friendly service and fairly fast, for made-to-order food. Got the Dyna meal, which was a 1/4 pound burger, fries and a drink. Just $8 something. My friend got the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries, Zaks style. We were shocked how cheap it was ($15 for everything). Turns out the grilled cheese is a kids meal! Burger and fries were great! Grilled cheese perfect! The star of the show was the sweet potato waffle fries. The cinnamon, brown sugar, sea salt combo was addicting!

Yelp
If you're ever in Johnson City, Texas, check out fat boys burgers on the corner of 281 and 290. They have some of the best burgers I've ever had and both the fried pickles and onion rings are simply amazing. Friendly staff that will walk your food out to you in the Biergarten.

Yelp
Not a huge fan. We hit this joint on our way back to San Antonio following a weekend camping trip. Arrived right at noon, and were met with a line almost out the door. Okay, no big deal. What was a big deal is how long it took for us to actually order. Look, I'm perfectly fine with friendly people behind the counter, but not during the Sunday lunch rush. I mean, I'm not saying I want employees to be rude, I just think there should be more focus on moving people through the line efficiently when there's a crowd. Love the ambiance of the place and the cool outdoor seating area. Seems like a good joint for entertainment. We had the perfect weather to sit outside. Food was decent. The burger was definitely worth the price, but the patty was under seasoned and the patty/bun ratio was off, which left last bites of mostly bread. Tots and fries were perfect, though. I had one additional issue with service. As we waited for our food, wait staff delivered food to a family of six seated near. Now, Fat Boy Burgers serves their food in those plastic baskets with a piece of paper - no big deal, but what I saw struck me as unsanitary. As the food was delivered, I noticed the orders stacked up on one large tray. In other words, the burger buns came into DIRECT CONTACT with the BOTTOM side of those plastic baskets. Look, I'm sure the plastic baskets are clean, but you never know what happens during food preparation. If you're going to stack food that way, fine, but add a piece of paper or SOMETHING so there's no possible contamination.....or how about using a second tray so you don't stack the orders?

Yelp
My wife and I tried the catfish last Friday and it was fantastic! I had the plate with two fillets, fries and coleslaw. The fillets were huge and there were more than enough fries for one person. My wife had the catfish basket and she could hardly finish it. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I visited here with a group of 8 during an event in town. As other reviewers indicated, they are pretty accommodating for larger groups. There was a line to the door but it moves quickly. The main draw here is the burgers, but I wasn't exactly impressed with them. Half my table ordered burgers, other half chicken. We had orders of curly fries, an ordered of their battered jalapeños, blueberry cobbler and banana pudding. The smell of the burgers was welcoming but biting into the bacon cheeseburger, I could tell they are not hand formed, but machine formed. The taste was okay initially with the fancy shredded cheese and the bacon was good, but after eating nearly half, the burger lost its luster similar to the way machine formed burgers do. I didn't order fries to go along with my burger, but those seemed to be either natural cut or homemade. I enjoyed the banana pudding after my burger, the cobbler seemed to be homemade and the ice cream was pretty good too. It was vanilla and tasted like it had a swirl of white chocolate syrup in it or something. The curly fries are not homemade of course. Nobody in my party commented about the taste of the food, only that the portions are larger than they expected, which can either be a good thing or a bad thing. Overall, a very casual place to come to grab a meal in town. Like many restaurants in Central Texas, they also have a stage in the beer garden along the south side of the restaurant with live music. Next to the stage, toward the street side is a large covered seating area with heaters going in the winter and fans in the summer. I came on a Saturday night, so there was a singer playing most of the time during our visit.

Yelp
Headed home from Blanco lavender festival and looked up burgers on yelp. This place sounded great and didn't disappoint. The burgers were fresh, juicy and a full 8oz of meat. Made to order , so grab a drink and visit. Definitely worth the 10-15 minute wait. Service was great too ! Homemade onion rings.!!!!

Yelp
It seems all the rage in Johnson City. Likely due to lack of tastebuds and other options. Food was really greasy, lackluster, and not fresh. Staff were also not friendly and acted annoyed that you even came in and made an order. Burgers taste better at In 'n Out.
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
My cheeseburger was outstanding and the feel was very small town pleasant. Great value to boot! Great discovery!

Yelp
Ordered online as I was traveling through. They scared me when I arrived . Said they were making 22 burgers and mine might take awhile. Nope. My Southwestern wrap and grilled chicken Caesar salad came out within a few short minutes and I was back on the road! The wrap was HUGE!!! It was tasty but could have had a little more spice to it (pico de gallo maybe?). The salad was also very large and delicious. It would be nice if their online ordering system better described the items. I had no idea at all what was in the wrap.

Yelp
OMG! The food was really good! Loved thier bbq wings a f burger! I took my order togo and had some wings the next day- still tasty!

Yelp
The food was good and fresh. Staff was friendly and patient with a full house. The weather was nice so it was great to have a choice of inside or outside.

Yelp
After a visit to science mill, we were super hungry and with a quick Yelp search, decided to try out FBB, it was bit late lunch and as it was super hot on the outside, so inside dine in was almost full. It's bit tight inside and not clean, so many flies, there was only one person who was cleaning the table, wiping the table and goes inside and brings the food out, no washing hands, gloves are whatsoever. we ordered chicken wings, chicken burgers with jalapeño bread I think, onion rings, curly fries, chicken tenders( kids meal ) Chicken wings were just ok. curly fries were not crispy but hot( temperature wise ) my husband liked his chicken burger, but it was almost $10ish but doesn't come with any side with it. onion rings were like literally drenched in the oil. kid's chicken strips, on the menu it says, it comes with gravy, which wasn't there, only strips and fries, they gave so much fries, it was sticking together like one big lump and not a bit crispy. They dint bring out all the dishes at the same time, and kids meal was the last, it would've been nice if we got the kids meal first.
google avatar

Yelp
We have been to Fat Boy many times but unfortunately the last time they got our orders wrong. I had to go up the counter twice today because I had ordered add ins that were not on the burger when delivered and they added spread when i definitely asked for no spread. They have always been perfect the many times we've been before but lately things are slipping.

Yelp
Stopped here on our drive back to Austin. This is the only burger place within a 30 min drive every direction so if you're craving one, this is the place to go. I had the original burger 1/3lb and it was huge! Definitely a great bang for your buck here. Fresh ingredients, nice staff. The fries could have been a little crispier. I was craving a burger like my life depended on it so I inhaled it in about 3 seconds. Based on the other reviews, I suggest you stick to the basics and their strengths - burgers.
google avatar

R J.

Yelp
Good burger and good fries!!! Would recommend this place to those traveling through and to those looking for good eats as well.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
5 for the vibes and great small town charm! Stopped here for lunch on a day trip to Johnson City. The person at the register was super helpful and gave great recommendations, could tell she new her stuff! They have a big covered outdoor space too with fans which was nice and perfect for a hot summer day. We got a burger and one of their wraps along with some curly fries. I would come here again if in the area!

Yelp
Driving to Fredericksburg from Austin and this was an amazing find along the way. Burgers and chicken were all delicious and paired perfectly with some local craft beer. The staff was super friendly and it's just a relaxed, chill place to stop on a road trip. Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through Johnson!
google avatar

Katina J.

Yelp
Delicious burgers, perfectly cooked. I enjoyed my Mushroom, Onion & Guacamole burger. Curley fries were fresh out the grease and piping hot. And my sweet tea was not overly sweet. Stop in and try em'.
google avatar

Taylor G.

Yelp
So yummy , one of my favorite splurges Recommend highly to every one. Has something for all ages and tastes

K G.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but I was disappointed from the start. The customer service was okay, but the food was just awful. Even the iced tea was bad. I tried to get a Dr Pepper instead but it was just plain soda water. The onion rings were so greasy and my burger bun soaked up the grease, making it soggy. The burger tasted off... it didn't have the texture of beef and had zero flavor. And to top it off I unfortunately was very ill when I got home. I won't be coming back.
google avatar

Ronnie R.

Yelp
One of my longtime friends meets me at Fat Boy's about once a month. I live in Fredericksburg and he in Austin. I found this place about 3 years ago by accident. Was driving through around lunch time and was hungry so I stopped in. I kinda look for places like this. Down home look and lots of cars. I was not disappointed, so I told my buddy about it, and we met there a few weeks later. We've been going every month or so since. The burgers are made like they used to be and the fries are real potatoes cooked crisp. On Fridays they have fried fish. It's very good but you better get there early because it's obviously and popular item. Good food, nice atmosphere and they've always been friendly to us. We even casually visit with owner from time to time. Neat place, good food and friendly. What else could you ask for?
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
First time at Fat boy Burgers today, had the southwest chicken wrap with onion rings... food was good and I liked the atmosphere.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
A group of 7 of us ate here while driving through. Everyone in the group loved this place. The burgers were excellent! The special of the day was a fajita bowl or salad. The people who ordered that said it was really good. The fries were fantastic. All of the folks working there were really nice.

Tracy S.

Yelp
Good burgers. Can't beat them. Gigantic and good old fashion flavor. What's missing from fast food places. Also excellent chicken caeser salads
google avatar

Belinda G.

Yelp
Don't miss this place on your way through Johnson City!! Great burgers!! I deconstructed my burger, but it was yummy! And pecan pie for dessert...Yes please!! Seasoning on fries is nice!
google avatar

Blanca M.

Yelp
Great burgers!!! Service is always fast and super friendly cashier. You can eat outside and listen to cool music. I Invite you all to try it out. !!
google avatar

Katrina L.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch on a beautiful day. The outside has lots seating in the shade and also has a nice tent area to block the wind. The staff is super friendly and the food was amazing! Big portions and made to order. Will definitely be back on band road trips!

Yelp
Stopped in Johnson City, Texas. Heard there was a solid road burger house to try. Ordered the classics and the roadster burgers. Rich solid and old fashioned classics if your rolling through. I snook in with my kiddos, and ordered and enjoyed myself. Only set back was the ice tea. Sweet tea had just run out. But, I was there for the burgers. Burgers will fill you. So if you looking to not fill up, keep going. Classic atmosphere, lots of patrons waiting and rough tables. But worth the wait. If this bothers you go to Sonic, if not pull up a chair and enjoy Fat Boys., As usual, keep it real. Johnny Mini

Yelp
Wow, just wow!!!! Food was amazing. This is a little joint on the side of the road. Lots of outdoor seating and saw people with their dogs. Since it was in the upper 90's we opted to hang out in our car with our dog. Personally preference for us. The food did take a long time to be ready but they where slammed when we got there. We just got a basic bacon cheeseburger burger and some fries each. It is was worth the wait. Very clean food as it doesn't feel like I ate a brick. Bathroom was clean even though it was a unisex bathroom. They did have additional out side. I would recommend this place. In fact next time I think I'm going to order the fried pickles cause they looked amazing the next time we come up here.
google avatar

J.D. J.

Yelp
We were in Johnson City to see the Christmas lights and were going to grab dinner. Since we had our dog with us, we were unable to dine in at a restaurant and were denied carry-out orders at the first two places we tried, so this was the only option left. We arrived 45 minutes before the posted closing time, but were told to hurry up because they were closing in ten minutes. The food was the definition of mediocre. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't good. We got the Chicken Tender Basket, Southwest Chicken Wrap, and the daily special, a Steak Finger Basket. It was the kind of food you get at any run-of-the-mill roadside burger joint. I was excited about their "Come Back Sauce," since I am a huge fan of specialty sauces, but it just tasted like Frank's Hot Sauce mixed with mayo. Again, edible but disappointing. I would still choose it over the only other fast food place I saw in town, a Dairy Queen, but I will try my best to eat somewhere else next time I am in Johnson City.

Yelp
The food was 5. My wife loved her Black and blue burger. The Batter in the onion rings was a 10. The adults in the room were very nice and welcoming. The young lady needs a little customer service class but all in all the Burgers made up for it. Fantastic!

Mark B.

Yelp
Terrible, just terrible. Ordered online and when I show up after getting a text that my food is ready to find out that they are out of half of my order and they didn't bother to text or call with that information. The food I did get was mediocre at best and it was like pulling teeth to get my money back for the items they didn't have as the staff was rude and unhelpful. Do not go here but if you must, don't order online
google avatar

Eddie V.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible customer service. The lady at the cash register was rude and inhospitable. Don't worry though, it won't stop her from flipping the screen and asking you for a tip.
google avatar

Nancy R.

Yelp
We're always up for a good, no frills burger, and this hit the spot. Nothing fancy as far as ambience, but the burgers were good! My fries weren't too hot so they made me fresh ones without complaint. I love that you can get 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 lb burgers. I always want the kids meal at restaurants and their quarter pound burger with fries and a drink was perf!
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Forgot to take a picture as we were in a hurry to grab our food and go. The beat things were the onion rings. The burgers were good but by no means spectacular. Very limited choices in the area but if hungry give it a try. It did take longer than expected for our food to be ready. Plan accordingly. The staff and people were extra country friendly. I travel this road often and have never found anything amazing. I would give this place another try if the elements were right. The outdoor seating was nice, shaded and had a nice breeze. Live music would be fun.

Wyatt S.

Yelp
Good burger, bad Cobb. Worst blackberry Cobb I've ever had. Burnt Cobb, no icecream.... Icecream advertised..... wow... 3 stars.
google avatar

Hot Hubby L.

Yelp
My wife called in a order this afternoon and the lady that took her order was very rude right off the bat! We have never ordered from here before but have heard good things. I go to the establishment, walk in and there is a curtain I guess where the kitchen is. Had to wait a while and there was only one person eating inside. She finally opens the curtain and there was no nice greeting at all, all she said was I will be with you in a minute in a not so nice voice! Good customer service is always a key with a business and this lady should have stayed home!! For being a burger place, I was not impressed by the burger at all. Could have got it at sonic and paid way less! Very disappointing! Fat chance I will ever come back!!
google avatar

Diron K.

Yelp
This was a solid 4 stars. Had the Jr. Burger, fries and a drink for 10.95. The Jr. Burger is the size of most places normal burger. Burger was good, fries were even better. The place seemed small but, they built a little building beside the original one and there is plenty of room with both rooms. Good place and friendly service, will definitely come back.

Yelp
Have always wanted to stop at Fat Boy and timed it just right for lunch. I got the original with fries and a side of fried pickles. This was a solid old fashioned burger with a juicy patty and melted cheese. Excellent flavor. The fries were good with just the right amount of salt. The 'Winner' was the fried pickles. They are thick cut with a consistent batter. Perfectly fried to a golden brown. Fantastic flavor complemented by the ranch dressing. When you stop at Fat Boy, the Fried Pickles are a must order. This restaurant is definitely on my 'Keepers List'.

Yelp
The good the bad and the ugly. This was our first time visiting and after the reviews we had high hopes. We had the Original Fat Boy Burger, curly fries and the Fried Chicken Burger The Good-Meat quality was pretty good and cooked to well done as requested. Fried chicken was very very hard crispy. I have never had friend chicken that hard before. They gave me quite a few pickles as requested. The prices are pretty good at around 10.00 per burger. They remembered to leave the mayo off as requested. Just a personal pet peeve I think mayo on burgers should be a felony in Texas. It just ain't American! The Bad-The buns are not toasted so they are extremely mushy and gross by the time you drive 30 minutes home to eat them. The lettuce is bitter and pathetic like a normal fast food burger-cut with a knife early in the day and left to get bitter. The tomato tasted like the lettuce and was limp. They will not put BBQ sauce on the side instead they put it all over the burger and chicken despite request otherwise. They included cheese on the chicken even though I requested no cheese. The curly fries are okay, but not great. The Ugly The chicken bun was literally hard, wrinkled and smushed flat. The hamburger bun was not much better. The buns are a huge disappointment. I have never had buns this bad anywhere. They were hard like rocks on the outside and not from being toasted and mushy and soggy on the inside from not being toasted. Recommendation to Bad Boys-you could have a really good burger if you had better buns and toasted them. Stop cutting lettuce and use real lettuce that is not bitter and better quality tomatoes. I don't even know what to say about the HARD like a rock fried chicken. Conclusion: I can't recommend this place and I don't think we would eat here again. The fact that this place get 4.5 stars just shows you how desperate we are for good food in these parts. We live in a food desert
