Fat Boys BBQ

The food is absolutely some of the best BBQ I've had and as a fat man I've had plenty! The brisket was juicy and melt in your mouth. The sausage was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Mac and cheese was awesome and the coleslaw was some of the best I've had ever! Thank y'all so much for a wonderful laid back dining experience!

We always look for locally owned/mom and pop/off the beaten path type restaurants when we travel. Can't go the Nashville area and not get BBQ. The service was amazing, friendly, and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious. I absolutely loved it all but the cat fish was probably the best I have ever had. 10/10 would recommend.

Order the riblet plate with two sides. Baked beans were great, Mac and cheese okay. Wish I had more riblets. The pancake they said was cornbread but I think it was still pancake

I have been coming for a while now. But I’m so excited that they are making BURGERS now! I could have got mushrooms and onions but I wanted to taste the classic first! Let me tell you it was so delicious!!

The portions were excellent! Lots of meat in the sampler and the fried ocra was cooked well. You get three meats and two sides for 15 bucks. The meat was cooked well but didn't exactly fall off the bone. The hot sauce was decent. But could be spicier. The staff was excellent, very positive and friendly.

6 STARS! Food is always great… everything. Literally. Ribs, smoked sausage, fried fish sandwich, chess square, don’t forget that Kool Aid (always a mix of 2or3 flavors). Mac and cheese. Riblets. Smoked bologna. Name it. ❤️❤️❤️

My first Tennessee B-B-Q experience, and it did not disappoint! Bright and pork-y greens, sweet baked beans. Straight-forward pulled pork that (for my tastes) got better with the sweet sauce, smoked bologna (another first for me...delicious!) that was made for the vinegary hot sauce, and the best part of the entire meal: the brisket! Best brisket I've ever had...hold the sauce, there's no need here!!! Steady flow of folks in and out on a warm Friday holiday-weekend. Will be back to try the many more meat and side choices!!!!

Great tasting food! We had a sampler plate with rib tips, brisket and catfish, and a brisket quesidilla. Owners were friendly. I'm bummed I missed out on the banana pudding which another customer recommended.

The food was fantastic some of the best ribs I've ever eaten it was literally coming off the bone just the way ribs are meant to be The service was great they were incredibly polite and helpful in us ordering and the food came out fast within 15 minutes of us ordering I did not eat inside the restaurant but I sat inside and it's ambience isn't great but it's more of a restaurant where you get your food to go from what I saw but they do have tables with sauces on them and they even have some funny fishing posters on the wall above the entrance which were fun to read

It's our second night here and we decided to try a different BBQ joint since the place we ordered from last night was amazing. Food arrived quickly and was hot. We ordered the brisket player with Mac-n-cheese and fried okra and the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. The side items were tiny, like literally 2-3 table spoons of side in each container. The okra and the slaw were good, just not enough of it. The Mac-n-cheese was "meh". The brisket was very dry and had an odd soapy after flavor and the pulled pork was 85% pork skin/fat and 15% meat. Don't get me wrong. I love some pork skin and fat with my pulled pork but it was way overboard. Also had a weird soapy after taste. *update. I forgot we had ordered banana pudding and the chess pie and just ate them. Excellent! Almost enough to redeem them in the meats but it's a bbq place not a dessert place. But the desserts were delicious!

Loaded baked potato with pork was so delicious and they aren't lying when they say it's huge. I don't think I've ever seen a potato that big. As always, the sweet tea hit the spot on a summer day. The customer service here is always amazing! Everyone is so nice and welcoming.

The food was flavorless. Rib Tips was small. I don't like leaving or posting negative reviews, but my order was a waste of money.

I would absolutely not ever waste my time with this place ever again. From the food being very bland and poorly made, we were also missing half of our order to absolutely horrible customer service. This is not to place to order from if you would like bbq.

This is for all my truckers and visitors to Nashville, Tennessee Fat Boys barbecue it is off the chain. It is the best barbecue place in all 50 states. The young lady behind the counter with the beautiful accent is an absolute treasure. I can't wait to return.

UPDATE: I went back since they are so close to my house and it has been quite some time. I found everything wonderful, answered the phone when I placed the order, we're very nice when I arrived and the food was good. I am very happy to post this update.

Fat Boys has good selection of southern comfort foods. The service was good and the ambiance gives to southern charm.

Nice mom and pop restaurant, my co worker took us here for lunch the burger was great well cooked the Mac n cheese was meh but I'll definitely be back to try the ribs

Is this the best BBQ I've ever had in my life? No. However, it is consistently good. I'm a teacher at a school nearby and for about a year my coworker and I tried different local spots during our professional development days, and one day we ended up here. Good, hot food. And the absolutely friendliest staff who are willing to help you with just about any question you have. Whenever we stray away we are disappointed with other food choices in the area. They have something good and keep it up.

This is a hidden gem! I had the sampler plate with beef brisket, pulled pork and catfish. Delicious!!! Best beef brisket ever, juicy tasty pulled pork and crispy fried catfish. Great variety of delicious sides. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

Best white beans I've ever had, brisket quesadillas were better than expected. Friendly staff and a bbq joint how it should be, a blue collar environment. Nothing wrong with all the fancy bbq joints, but this seems right to me. Had grape cool aid which also made me very happy. Take a step away from the chains and try this place.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. THE CAT FISH IS SMACK YOUR GRANDMA GOOD. if you are in the area you need to go. It was great service and an even better time. I will be back many times.

Food is very tasty and customer service is nice. The inside of the place was very clean and well managed.

​ my husband and I went to Fat Boys and I was so disappointed if I could give no stars I would they only good thing was the sweet tea I ordered the pulled pork plate and her husband got the brisket plate well my pork was hard dry and inedible the green beans were overly peppered in the mac and cheese was planned my husband's brisket was gray.. gray !! he chewed on his first bite for a while and spit it out ..his side items were no better ..they asked if everything was okay and I said no and I explained so they asked if we wanted something else and I thought from here?? no thanks! $37 for that was insane we will not be returning. Not sure why this says I'm from CA but I'm an Antioch Rez!!

Just ewww over done. Dry and flavorless. The fact that they can shoot there with a straight face and call this real barbecue is ATROCIOUS!!!

The square ribs was excellent. Meat just slid off the bone and the corn bread... delicious. Was hoping corn on the cob was a sweet corn but it's a plain corn. Overall a good little spot if you're in the mood for some good bbq.

The customer service is AWESOME! The fried fish family pack is EVERYTHING! The fish is well seasoned and crisp on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. Love this spot & glad it's in my neighborhood!

The cashier was probably my favorite part of my experience. I ordered rib tips, green beans, and fried okra. Everything was delicious but that fried okra is the best I've ever had! The green beans were seasoned very well! I added some spicy said to my tips and I think I'll be back there very soon!

Im going to write this based off of her meal because her's was really good. The Fat Boy's "Piled High" High Rise was absolutely great. The flavor was good and the pork was moist. The combo with the coleslaw and pickle worked great. I should've known better than go to a bbq joint and get nachos. The smoked chicken on the nachos was dry as a bone and there was nearly no toppings on the nachos. I should have yelped those things before hand. Get the High Rise... Don't get the nachos! The credit card receipts were not coming off the machine right. The guy's cheese slid off his cracker after a few people and he had to go outback and cool off. It was like watching the soup nazi off Seinfeld. Lol it was pretty comical.

Today is the first time I've eaten at Fatboy's. The service was excellent, unfortunately I can't say the same for the food. I expected the pull pork to have a smoked flavor or at the least a grilled flavor, it didn't have either. The pulled pork had the taste of being cooked in the oven without any seasoning. No flavor whatsoever. The price was around what competitors charge so that's good. Having said this Fatboy's was on my bucket list of local restaurants to try and I'm glad I was able to cross it off my list. I think Fatboy's is one of those places you have to try yourself, but I will not be going back.

What a great surprise we found. Bbq and hot chicken were all good. We loved their sides and desserts as well. Great hospitality from the staff. They really are fun and know their food. Definitely would go back!

Delicious, easily some of the best bbq in Nashville. If you want delicious meat go there! There banana pudding and strawberry chess pie did not disappoint!

Service is ok, tried to call to order but like a previous review stated they do not answer the phone. We ended up going inside to order to go. Location is not ideal, but they had quite a bit of customers. We ordered the 4 rib plate, 2 kids pulled pork sandwiches, and a pulled chicken sandwich. For sides, we had Mac n cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, and banana pudding. Disclaimer we are used KC barbecue and pretty picky. The ribs were slightly dry and on the chewy side, but still better than a chain restaurant. They had a decent amount of meat on each bone, and very little fat. The flavor was good and what is expected with barbecue. Pulled chicken sandwich had good flavor, and also as expected. The kids pulled chicken sandwich where bigger portioned, especially considering they were for kids. Kids enjoyed them, they were not dry, and also had good flavor. The corn bread looked like a little pancake, and had a hint of the sweet corn bread flavor, personally I was not impressed with the cornbread, I felt it was lacking. Kids enjoyed the Mac n cheese, said it was cheesy enough. The banana pudding brought mixed reviews from our family, my son loved it and enjoyed the sweet banana flavor. I had a hard time with the texture. The pudding had a bread or wafer in it and it was very mushy like eating soggy dough. Overall I recommend this, especially compared to big chain restaurants. The food is plentiful and flavor is as expected. Would rate higher if there was more creativity to the flavors and if they would answer the phone.

We had some chicken, some pulled pork, and of course, some brisket. BBQ folks will understand when I say the meats were so good that the sauce is unnecessary. Definitely a great little stop. Macaroni was great, as well.

Would I revisit this location? Yes, would I order the same thing. NO WAY! I ordered the sampler, with mild wings, pork ribs and fried catfish. Ribs were worse than okay but better than nasty. It's hard to say. The catfish was okay, the wings were AMAZING!!!! The batter and flavor was GREAT!! They have ready good customer service which was all the difference. I would revisit and I would recommend.

This place we came across while up in the area. Yes it's a mom and pop establishment but don't let that turn you away. We had ribs and rib tips. Both were good. But the sides I was definitely impressed. We had turnips, green beans, potatoessalad and grill corn. Definitely will pop back in when up that way again Oh and I can't forget the chess pie. Delicious!!!

Last night we were looking for a new local place to do our Friday night order out and wow oh wow did we find it! This is officially our new favorite bbq place in Nashville!! With things the way they currently are we were excited to see this place on Postmates. The menu was great with lots of options from combos to sandwiches, plenty of sides, and southern favorites for dessert! I'm all about fried Catfish so I decided to give theirs a try and I was not disappointed. I have incredible respect for people who can make crispy but moist catfish, not overly breaded or salty, and they did a perfect job. Even though we ordered out it arrived crispy and flavorful and tasted amazing. I paired that with fried okra and Mac n cheese, both perfect test subjects for a bbq joint rating, and they were amazing too! I really appreciated the seasoning restraint, it was well seasoned but you could still taste what you were eating without feeling like you were eating a stick of butter and had your tongue on a salt lick. LoL. My husband decided to go with the Brisket, fried okra, and turnip greens which he said was very good as well. The brisket was smoky and tender with not a lot of fat. Both plates were topped off with a cornbread pancake, one of my favorite things! To finish we had to try some dessert and even though they were out of the number one southern fave, banana pudding, we did have the number two fave of Chess Pie Bar. It was really good and very different from any chess bar I've ever had. I think it was the crust, I think it had strawberry in it...I'm can't confirm that 100% but whatever it was, it was a nice take on the traditional chess bar. So yea, we are gonna visit this place again and again for our bbq cravings! I can't wait to try the other menu items but let's be real, I'm gonna be stuck on that catfish for a while!

The food is always good! I ate it before I could get a pic. I haven't been eating meat, but I had nachos wth smoked chicken today. It was delicious, no complaints from anyone that got food today.

The lady I ordered from was awesome and the food was fantastic! We did not even get pictures of the food! Brisket melted in my mouth! Recommend the watery BBQ sauce. It is spicier!

Rib tip are wonderful. I have tried almost everything on the menu. Staff is wonderful and owner is great love the place

The ribs were good and the sweet sauce on them made it even better. The strawberry chess cake was good and gooey which made it tasty. On the other hand the macaroni and cheese did not meet my expectations as it was more so not flavorful and lacked the real cheese I was expecting. The potatoe salad was just okay but nothing spectacular, I will try the ribs again for sure.

I'd say my experience with this place top to bottom is "it's fine." It's near my house and I regularly talk myself into trying it again because I think "maybe I don't remember fairly and I should give them another shot." Nope, not the case. The food is what you'd expect from your friend's dad's BBQ. It is good, but nothing about it has that POW effect. Nice enough people though, especially the sweet lady that runs the register.

I'm gonna preface this review by saying that I'm from Mississippi and grew up eating fried MS Delta Catfish weekly. Homemade everything and meat hunted by my step dad was the usual. Since moving to Nashville six years ago, I've found very few TRUE Southern eats.. People from back home would ask me- what's your favorite place to eat in Nashville, and I would respond- it's in Mississippi. Crazy, right? Y'all, I had tears rolling my down my face when I left this place with my to go order... You can tell good catfish a few ways- one of those is before you even see it. It's the smell of it. I had not smelled this smell in several years.. It's the smell of the oil and the batter used. I knew before I even opened the box that this would be THE catfish I had been searching for for six years. I also knew by the fresh chess pie sitting on the counter when I walked in, the tea on the counter, and the man who took my order over the phone who ended the call by saying- "be ready in 10 hun" that this would be the place... This is a long review about catfish, but in the South we bond over meals. They are focal points of a lot of memories growing up from being made to eat at the table as a family every night, to learning to make those meals with your grandma, and always having fresh chess pie or pecan pie to finish a meal and sweet tea to drink. More than just the items on the menu- it's HOW it's made... the real southern way! This place is a total gem. THANK YOU!!! The sides I ordered were also great! I have to admit- I do not like mustard based potato salad, but I ate every single bit of it. The Cole slaw is also sweet just like real Cole slaw is supposed to be.

Other than them giving me pulled pork instead of the brisket I ordered, I enjoyed my visit. The chicken wings were very delicious. Tried some of my bro-in-laws hot chicken wings. The crunch on them was excellent. The brisket was pretty good. Mac and cheese was ok. Corn was corn which I like.

The woman serving was incredibly rude, however, I was willing to look past this in the name of good BBQ... It has been 2 weeks since my meal. That's 1 week since my appointment with the specialist and 6 days of the cream, and the hemorrhoids persist.

This place is phenomenal with a capital PIG! From the service to the food, all of it rocks!! When you first walk up, they've got a smoker right in front just begging you to come in! It smells delicious, plus it doesn't hurt that the guy opens it once in awhile and the smells practically drag you inside by the nostrils! When we first walked in there were guys in the kitchen that greeted us and recommended we start with the fried pickles. Um, ok! You don't have to twist my arm at all in that one! They were pickle spears instead of chips and they were delish! The SWEETEST woman appeared at that point and kept on calling my sister and I "love bug" and we both just fell in love. My sister got the smoked wings (to die for) and I got the brisket. I also got the green beans (yum) and the cole slaw. One of the kids got the brisket sandwich and the other got a sliced pork sandwich with corn on the cob. We also got corn bread which was more like tortillas and they knocked our socks off. To top it off, our little love bug gave us a complimentary banana puddin that she had made that morning!!! Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was spot on!! So happy to have stumbled upon it during our visit to Nashville!

I've been passing by the big pink pig out front for many many years now, but I have only recently thought about stopping into Fat Boys BBQ. I have NO idea what took me so long! I finally decided to come in for lunch one day. I'm definitely a brisket fan, but it's tough to find great brisket here in Nashville. However, I'm still adamant on trying brisket at all the BBQ places; it's kind of a make or break sign for me. I ordered a brisket sandwich with turnip greens on the side. Their brisket sandwich comes on Texas toast and chopped in large pieces. It was so good!! Seriously, the brisket was melt in your mouth good with the right amount of hickory smoked flavor. I appreciate the fact that the meat wasn't finely chopped, because that's not my style. There are three sauces you can choose from: mild, hot or sweet. The mild and hot had a vinegar kick, and the sweet obviously was, well, sweet. I found myself reaching for the sweet, though all three were tasty. And boy, were those turnip greens delicious! I'm not kidding, they were so savory, flavorful and some of the best I've had, and I eat a lot of greens. The bits of bacon added to the richness. Yum. I had a bite of pulled pork, and that was good too. Yes, I did have to wipe off the crumbs from my table and seat before sitting. And yes, there was a slight stickiness to all the tables, but I'm willing to overlook that for the good food. Personally, I'm not an extreme clean freak (a little germs help build your immune system!), so others might think otherwise. Parking is a challenge because the lot is quite small, and the other half is reserved for the neighboring business, so I don't recommend taking more than one car here. At the end of the day, Fat Boys BBQ is a small shop with a smoker out front cranking out some awesome food. Take the food to go if you don't want to stay and eat, but definitely come by and try it out.

Great bbq. The service was fast and friendly. I stopped in for lunch and had the pulled pork sandwich, and my mom had the pulled chicken, and both were very good. Ribs smelled and looked fantastic--excellent choice for BBQ. Coleslaw was fresh and crisp. I will be back.

Seems like run down restaurant in not so appealing and appetizing place. Saw them everyday, but decided to stop by. The floor was so sticky that I didn't dare to sit even on benches inside.

This place was very good, and the woman was extremely friendly. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because I like my BBQ sauce more on the thick side, and it was a pretty thin and liquid base sauce. The sweet flavor was probably the thickest out of all 3, but still not a thick consistency by any means. The nice woman suggested the turkey sandwich when asked which she suggested between the turkey or the chicken. The sandwich was scrumptious! Smoked and juicy. The guy cooking the food in the back even was polite and had a friendly smile. Clean place, friendly people, great food. I'll definitely come back.

I went here on whim looking for some good bbq while I was visiting Tennessee and I chose right. The food was amazing and the customer service was amazing next time I'm in the area I will be stopping by there again.

This is a great local place to get some tasty and affordable bbq. The service is pretty quick as well, which is especially nice if you're ordering to go. The sweet sauce and hot sauce were both great, but I would recommend mixing them for the best result!

Amazing BBQ joint!!! Even more amazing staff. Did the sampler - brisket, pulled pork & ribs. Brisket was smoked to perfection, great flavor, light crust, perfect amount of fat and extremely tender. Pulled pork was smoky and moist. The ribs defied science. They looked burnt, but the crust was phenomenal, they were extremely smokey, moist, lean (all meat) and utterly delicious. Sides - I got one word for ya... white beans. I don't know what they season them with (and they won't tell - I asked) but they are unbelievably incredible. Friendly staff, true artisans of the pit.

It thought I reviewed this place already. How did this place slip my mind? ... hands down the second best bbq I have ever had in my life. (#1 is pappys in St. Louis, #3 is franklins in Austin). But what separates this place from the other two is that there literally are no frills and fame. Humble little place on the side of the road. I'll keep it short, smoked wings. Amazing. And so is everything else on the menu that I had. Luckily it's a small menu so you can theoretically get it all and take it to go for the rest of the day.

Best grill in Antioch hands down. Trust the pink pig! I'm a pulled shoulder girl myself but honey they ain't missed on a meat yet honestly
