Louisiana Restaurants to Open Outposts in Houston - Eater Houston

"Fat Boy’s Pizza is known for its oversized, 30-inch pies and the “2-Foot Pizza Challenge” which involves finishing a two-foot slice in less than seven minutes. The Richmond outpost, set to open on January 17 in the Grand at Aliana retail corridor, marks its first location in Texas, with plans for another store in Katy Grand by June." - Megha McSwain

I quite like the ambiance of the restaurant; it's clean and spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are incredibly friendly. I ordered the Caesar salad, The Meats pizza, cod burger, and cookies n cream custard shakes. The food was quite good, but the pizza felt a bit too greasy.

Got a Cesar salad, bread sticks, fries, and 2 pizzas. The Cesar salad was served with iceberg lettuce that was brown, was not good at all. The fries were good with dipping sauce. The breadsticks were yummy. The pizza is ok, I would not go back. Have had mi ch better.

My wife and I went to Fat boys pizza Katy based on a few recommendations. The pizza was good at first, then this happened. See pic below. My wife's 12 inch pizza had a huge nasty hair under it. We both felt pretty sick to our stomachs after seeing that and ended up not eating anymore. She ate 2 slices before finding that. Just putting this out there to make sure you check under your pies and on top because that's just plain gross. For the actual review of the pizza before the hair, it was pretty good before finding a piece of someone's hair (not my wife's). Customer service was nice enough to refund us for her pie or remake her a new pizza. We ended up just doing a refund because we were too grossed out to eat any more. Not going to be returning

We picked up pizzas to go for dinner. Omg, they were so tasty! We got Pepperoni, Tomato Basil, BBQ Chicken and Cheesy Bacon. The ingredients tasted fresh and were so full of flavor. My son didn't want to share his cheesy bacon one because it was so good; however, he did share a small slice with me. My daughter said her Tomato Basil one was just the right amount of crust between thin and regular crust. We definitely plan to go back.

First time here. I can't eat pizza but family can. My oldest son loves this place and has been here several times. Ordered several fat boy slices, wings and other stuff I don't recall. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Sevice was quick and we didn't wait too long. The food was hot and fresh. We will be back.

This New Orleans pizza joint opened in Katy Asia Town so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is a little basic but was clean and comfortable. The young man at the counter who took our order was polite and efficient. From the time we ordered to when the pizza arrived was about twenty minutes. We ordered a 16" The Meats. It had pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, ham ground beef, tomato sauce and mozzarella. The flavor was decent but it was a little dry. The crust was good. Our bill was $36 including a small and a large drink. The table next to us ordered the 30" The Ranch Pizza. It looked tasty and was definitely unique. Overall there was nothing that really set this place apart. I wouldn't drive out of my way for it but it also was not a bad experience.

Was there on January 2nd in the afternoon - so not a typical day. BUT…. I was there with my son and nephew, and they just bent over backwards for us. The manager on duty got free milkshakes for the boys (the single slice is more than most pan pizzas, so there was no way they were getting through it all, but they got surprisingly close!), and the $10 I spent on the arcade was maybe the best money I’d spent all week - the claw machine hit on basically every turn, and the four kids (my daughter and niece met us after lunch) came away with an armful of toys. The staff is fantastic - friendly, helpful, and just really lovely. The food is good too! Next time I might try a Savvy Slider instead - choice is a good thing! The service (and team) was just so excellent though. And the food was excellent too - did I mention that a ‘single slice’ is as big as your head? And delicious - really hit the spot during a long day out. Thanks again to the team there for being so awesome - and please keep it up! We’ll be back again soon!

Google
I ordered from Fat Boys today specifically because I thought I had a $7 coupon. When I went to pick up my order, I was disappointed to find I was charged the full amount, with no discount applied. The workers were kind and explained that the system was acting up and they couldn’t validate the coupon. It’s really frustrating that I ordered solely based on the coupon, only to have it not work, and I ended up paying the full price because of a system error. Why offer a coupon if it’s not going to work, especially when that’s the reason I placed the order in the first place?

Yelp
Always walk by this place and think man looks good. We finally tried it out and wasn't too bad. The slices are thin not too much red sauce. The cheese is more of the chewy gooey kind. Few things that kind of threw us off was a limited menu, no plates to eat off of and when asked we got boat trays. Other than that it's a cool place with good vibes. Workers were nice and pizza wasn't bad. Hopefully can try other stuff next time.

Yelp
Arrived on a sunday around noon with my 2 yr old son. Pretty quiet with only 1 other family inside. Cashier waited until after I started ordering to tell me they have a limited menu and only pizza due to a merger? (Didnt they just open barely a year ago? Also odd their business is gonna focus more on burgers/sliders than pizza?) Anyways, red flags aside, ordered 2 combos (slice with a drink). Soda machine was out of a couple options. Pizza was decent but nothing amazing. The real annoyance was when we got up because my 2 yr old had to pee and, while I was done, my son still had a few bites left of his pizza on the tray. Came back out to our trays removed and food tossed. We still had our full drinks left on the table and were still only the second occupied table in there so I have NO idea where the urgency was to clear our stuff? Or perhaps it's a severe lack of awareness as, after I had to comfort my crying kid about his food being gone (which the whole staff saw and then scattered), I went to the front to say something and was told to wait by the lady preparing the food. Apparently, the only person that was allowed to talk to me was the one on the phone. After a few minutes, finally said "forget it, not worth my time anymore" and left. No apologies, no attempting to make it right before or after I came to the counter. Customer service is abysmal. Overall, you're probably better off going to Costco for a slice and drink for half the price. I wish we did. Don't bother with this place.

Yelp
I read about them on Facebook and I happen to be riding and came across them. I walked in and took a look at the menu and went to the counter and ordered a fat boy slice. They give you a number and it's delivered to your table. They offer help yourself counter drink if you so ordered. It was pretty big probably too big to eat. without cutting it. I had to get a plastic fork and knife. The pizza was actually very good. I also saw they have 30 in pizzas! My god. I will definitely have to come back.

Yelp
Fat Boy's Pizza is a fun concept for your friends and family. I believe they have a challenge where if you can gulp down an XL Pizza within minutes, you can get a gift card and some merch. I witness a dude achieving it and I'm very proud of that guy. (I hope he doesn't end up at the ER LOL) As for a regular customer like you and I, the pizza is not bad. Nothing crazy special and it's a typical average tasting pizza joint. I wished they just put a bit more sauce. Plenty of seating areas and there's a little playground for the kiddos. Overall, I would come back to Fat Boy's Pizza again if I'm in a pinch for Pizza. The taste doesn't wow me but at least it's a bit better than your Pizza Hut and Dominio's.

Yelp
I got the margherita pizza, but it honestly sucked. Too much red sauce and literally 5 pieces of cheese that barely covered the slices. My boyfriend ordered the fat boy pizza and he gave up eating it halfway. It was way too greasy. The only reason I'm giving this a 2 is because the mozzarella logs were good. Super cheesy and got a great cheese pull out of them. They're also huge. Probably a good place to go if you have kids. There's a game room and a lot of families with young children. There's also a bar area for the adults too. Our food took a while to come. It was a busy Friday night though so I get it.
google avatar

Thea W.

Yelp
The pizza is pretty good! Came out fresh and very hot so be careful. There is a tiny little arcade area for the kiddos which is neat! The BBQ chicken is really good. My only complaint is that there is a lot of grease on it. It's a pizza yes, but I had to use a napkin to soak up some up some of the grease

Yelp
I was a bit worried when I saw $7-$8 for a slice of pizza... but these slices are HUGE, but still takes about two to get full for a grown man. First off, really thin crust on the slices where it matters and I actually found the crust quite tasty. Unfortunately, the truffle shuffle was so SALTY, could not even finish the actual slice. Has potential - they need to chill out on the salt so that people can actually finish the meal Ordered the Fat Boy and Truffle Shuffle slices Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? No Would I Return? No Ambiance- 7/10 Food Taste- 7/10 Service- 7/10 Value- 6/10

Yelp
Pizza is decent. Huge individual slices albeit really thin. Service is really lackluster. Workers don't seem to care to be there and it shows in the speed of the cooking. So many workers behind the counter just standing around looking bored too. Pizza is good, but for the price and service, I'd rather go elsewhere

C S.

Yelp
Service was great. They were super friendly and efficient. The pizza.....burnt black on bottom and outside edge around entire pizza. Unfortunately, we ordered take out so didn't know until too late. The toppings were good and flavorful. Too much sauce for me was a bit overpowering. Would probably not return, since quality control on pick up orders is not good. They knew it was burned. Impossible to not know. Oh well! Worth the try, IF AND ONLY IF, you are eating in and can send back if necessary.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Ordered a slice of the namesake pizza. The slices are huge! Roughly 12 inches for just the slices. They also took care of me with the Angry Orchard. All in all, easy to place to eat.
google avatar

Carla A.

Yelp
The only reason I'm not going to give it a 5/5 is because of the cashier. Obviously this is a new spot and with new restaurants, that means new customers. We didn't really know what was good, what were some suggested items or anything. She saw us struggling with the menu and asking questions and she looked annoyed. We ended up getting the bbq chicken pizza slice which was so big I could barely eat it! It was absolutely delicious! We also got a the mozzarella sticks that were insanely huge!!! And while the 16'' pepperoni's marinara sauce wasn't up to par, the pizza was still really good! Something about pizza burnt at the bottom will always be top tier to me! They have an outdoor area, also games for kids over in the corner! I'm sure my family and I will be back soon.
google avatar

Kaylee G.

Yelp
We ordered take out I can't comment on the service or the inside We got a pepperoni pizza with garlic, black olives and half jalapeño. The really skimped out on the black olives. The dough has really soggy The crust was not crispy Was on the greasy side Rated 5/10

Yelp
KATY, TX 77449 / PIZZA / SAT 01-20-24 / DINNER +The customer service was pretty good. +Loyalty rewards program. -The pizza dough was a bit too dense, and the bottom was burned black in most spots. -The quality of the chicken used for the wings could be better; lots of bone fragments, so be careful. -The quality of the ingredients could be better for the price. -The food overall was a bit salty. -One of the arcade machines ate our quarters. What we ordered: 1 16" pizza ($23.50 total pie); half pepperoni ($10.00) and half fat boy ($13.50) 1 dozen wings (half buffalo and half honey garlic) $19.99 1 mozzarella logs $10.49 1 small fountain drink $2.99 Total: $54.10 post-tax, tip not included

Yelp
Overall the pizza is decent. Nice and thin. Ordering and service lacks but it's fine.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has a 4.2 on google reviews so we decided to try out this place since we were craving pizza. I'm super picky pizza but I thought the truffle and margarita pizza were pretty good. I will say that the prices are kind of ridiculous though. Decent pizza for what it is was
google avatar

Angelica C.

Yelp
Went here to hang out with some friends and little ones. All the kids got the kids combos and they all ate up each bite! I got myself a slice of "Tomato & Basil". The slice was huge! I liked how it was thin and chewy and there was just enough buttered crust. The basil on top was fresh and the tomatoes and cheese complimented each other well. The atmosphere is full on "pizzeria" with red neon lighting and even had a small arcade room. The place is great for families and a major plus is that it's very clean inside.

Yelp
I'm for Philadelphia and I know what a stromboli look like and what I got is not a Stromboli. Not to mention I paid $12 for it.

Mohammad D.

Yelp
I had ordered a halal pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizza. Unfortunately, the buffalo chicken half had non halal beef on it the first time. I reported this to the waiter and they had a manager come out and verify it. They proceeded to remake the pizza, and about 35 min later, I was told that the remake had pork on it. The manager then made the pizza himself to ensure the pizza was made correctly. The whole ordeal took 1hr and 20 min to get me the correct halal buffalo pizza. The server/manager were gracious enough to give me an entire large buffalo chicken pizza and offered me to refund my money. Overall, service was good. The flavor was just okay and the pizza had so much oil I used several napkins to blot out the oil!. The pepperoni was better than the buffalo chicken. I was also told any remaining pizza was given to the homeless instead of thrown away. I added one star to my rating because of this! Ambiance was that of a sports bar/chuck e cheese vibe.

Yelp
I am updating my previous review. Everyone was super nice and jazzed about their new menu option. I am excited to try it now - they seem to have their act together. I am still not sold on the slider/pizza joint concept but it could work. I am rooting for them.
google avatar

Yelp
We tried the other location and wanted to try this new one as well. Overall, the service here is just as good as the service there. Starting with the wings. They are GOOD! But they are not worth the price. 6 wings for almost $10 isn't a deal whatsoever. Tasty but pricey. Now, the 30" pizza was OKAY. the bottom was burnt but the top was fully cooked. The fact it's 30" was cool and is a great gimmick for the masses. But it was thin as in the toppings just slid off and was mildly disappointing. Overall, we gave Fat Boy's Pizza a second chance and it still came up lacking. You should definitely try it on your own and get your own opinion though!
google avatar

Gary S.

Yelp
Love the pizza by the slice! Serve it with root beer and I'm a happy camper! I'd love to know how someone ate the 2 foot slice in 38 seconds...
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The flavoring was just okay and the crust was not memorable I think the slices could be slightly thicker. The thin slice was not bad, but just didn't hold enough toppings to make a powerful impact of flavor sauce and ratio of crust to bit of toppings. Service was good, still unsure if they offer beef topping options as the server told me they have sausage beef which I asked if it was beef or pork and he was a little unsure. So I opted for a cheese and truffle slice
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
Wow! This was great. We got the 30" pizza delivered, the half and half style, and it was huge, satisfying, and delicious! We got the meat pizza and truffle pizza! We loved it.
google avatar

Danburi D.

Yelp
Staff was great and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. We celebrated my son's 14th birthday here and brought along 5 or 6 hungry teenagers to celebrate. The giant pizza was a thing, and it was big and the kids really enjoyed it. I wished they hadn't gorged themselves with their eating contest during the dinner, since they were practically comatose when we got home and more than a couple of them had some stomach issues afterwards. But it was a lot of fun, and I would recommend Fat Boy's for parties, especially if you have teenage boys.
google avatar

Ismari V.

Yelp
Went in for pizza by the slice and the pizza was super dried out and half burnt. I normally don't leave bad reviews, but we saw they had just opened and were excited to try Fat Boy's pizza. But unfortunately we left super disappointed. Basically a piece of cardboard with sad cheese :( Staff were friendly though, and restaurant was clean!
google avatar

Cassidy P.

Yelp
The pizza is BOMB (and huge). The service is amazing, everyone is so nice and the music is very family friendly. We got the 30in "meats" along with a "fat boy" margarita and a "White Russian" margarita. You're able to try the margs before committing to a 20oz or 32oz which is a plus for me! There was a misunderstanding with our order and the manager went above and beyond to make sure this was corrected, he was so sweet and so was the bartender we had! There's also a $7 off deal for signing up for rewards so y'all get in there!! 10/10 will be back!!
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
The customer service was good, setting was that of a sports bar(cozy), however the food wasn't the best. The pizza was a lil burnt underneath and lacked flavor. The fries were good and seasoned well. The salad dressing overpowered the salad and left a peculiar taste in our mouths.
google avatar

Gina R.

Yelp
The pizza was good, thin and crispy. The slices are kind of pricey so instead of a xl slice for $8 I got a small cheese pizza for $6. Good location with plenty of parking.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
First visit everything was delicious. The Parmesan wings were amazing. The pizza was so good. I for sure thought this was the best wings I've ever had. the Second time i came back the wings were drenched in oil like wingstop made me so sick and the pizza as well. I had to put paper towels on top of the pizza to soak the grease up. So I'm not so sure about this place
google avatar

Pam R.

Yelp
Service is awesome and pizza is super good. We had the lunch special and wow the Cobb Salad was huge !!! Pizza slice was just enough for lunch time. Will definitely be back. Great area for sporting events and kids arcade area !!! If you want to feed a crowd make sure to pick up a 30 inch pizza !!! Don't miss out on this place
google avatar

Gracie G.

Yelp
When we first started coming to this location it was great but slowly it seems that it's gone down hill. We've had to wait for more than 15 minutes for 3 slices and it seems that it's been dirty.( tables so it's hard to find a place to sit.) Today's visit we ordered 3 slices waited for 25 minutes for the first slice to come out and an additional 10 for the other 2.
google avatar

Darnell H.

Yelp
It's prolally the best pizza in Katy, the only place I go now. The decor is cool, too. Can't wait to go back... as a matter of fact...
google avatar

Jenn D.

Yelp
We got the waffle fries, honey garlic wings and the meat pizza. Everything is delicious and the service is superb. The ambience is great too, Very friendly staff especially Nick and the manager, Elena. Would definitely come back.

Tony M.

Yelp
$45 for a massive 30 inch pizza that you will need to turn sideways to get out the front door. Each slice is roughly 3 regular slices of pizza. The crust is great. One pizza fed 7 people. Only one person was able to eat 2 slices. They also sale pizza by the slice for about $9 each.
google avatar

Anne-Marie B.

Yelp
Ok, I love all things cheesy and Fat Boy's definitely scratches that itch, pizza included. This place is a big ol' bucket of fun. Massive pizza, by the slice or whole. Party music. All. The. Time. Giant gumball machine. Small game room. Slightly larger bar. Even slightly larger patio. Delivery available. This was not the best pizza I've ever had in my life, but it was a fastball right down the middle. We also visited at around 3pm and the dining room was still about half full. Their menu options are different at lunch versus dinner (less pizza flavors available at lunch). You probably don't need to order the spinach and artichoke dip. You definitely need to order at least a slice of pizza. Enjoy.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Amazing customer service! There was a little mix up with my pizza and the managers went above and beyond to make it right! Definitely coming back
google avatar

Kristyn M.

Yelp
I called in an order over the phone yesterday because unfortunately the online option doesn't give a way to make customizations. I ordered the truffle shuffle and requested mushrooms only on half and add pepperoni to the whole pie. I was told that wouldn't be a problem! A family member picked it up and to my surprise the pizza I got had mushrooms on the entire pizza and had green onions sprinkled all over (that isn't in the description on the menu for the truffle shuffle). Unfortunately I'm the only one that likes mushrooms and green onion so my family didn't get to eat any of the pizza. Definitely disappointed but wasn't going to call back and drive all the way back during rush hour.
google avatar

Rhonda K.

Yelp
Very cute pizza joint. They have lunch combo very reasonable. Today we had loaded fries, salad, and the big pizza slice. Everything was fresh. Like that we can fill our own drinks. Management came by and checked on us. Asked about a party room and they do have one by the patio. Little game room. Nice little bar area.

Honesty A.

Yelp
I was really having high hopes for this place but sadly I was disappointed. The crust was so super dry and the pizza well let's say I've had much better. The pizza is average at best. Not somewhere I would revisit.
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
I'm a loyal Fat Boy's Pizza lover at the Richmond location. This location has yet to impress me as the pizza was the same, but our 16" The Meats was a tad extra salty. Not sure what happened. But one thing I will say, DO NOT get the spinach artichoke. I was so excited to see it on the menu, as each location differs in menu apparently, but it's literally melted mozzarella that's yellow, and strips of spinach with mouth full of salts. They also include 4 small strips of bread that you can tell they just sliced from a halved loaf. For $10 ish, it was so disappointing. I refused to even eat it. It is disappointing too they didn't have my favorite menu item, beignets. We also did order the mozzarella sticks, which were big, perfect consistency. I'm not giving up on this location because it's convenient for me vs the Richmond location, but I would definitely order differently next time.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
It definitely would've been nice to know that you guys are only serving a limited menu. Drove all the way from Jersey village for my kids birthday. Very misleading and disappointing!
google avatar

moms B.

Yelp
The staff were nice and funny. Not to mention the size of the food was BIG. I honestly couldn't finish my meal but I had a really good time here. I recommend their wings and mozzarella sticks.
google avatar

Another B.

Yelp
Ordered a 30 inch for my family and we couldn't finish it. We underestimated our capabilities. The staff were very nice and out going. I really wish I can thank the cooks personally. Money well spent, that's for sure!
google avatar

Helen Joy L.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Honestly, I didn't expect much for a pizza place in Katy Asian Town...but this place is so amazing! People are super friendly and give out very constructive suggestions. Service is very fast and the place is super clean. Each slice of pizza is about 2-3 slices of a regular pizza and even though they are sitting on display, somehow, they come out super crispy on the bottom. Everything is made fresh so it tastes amazing. Give it a try!!
google avatar

George M.

Yelp
Great pizza place! Huge slices. Friendly service. Check out their patio as well. Great place to watch the game.

Sabrina R.

Yelp
Reviewing because I live in the area and see potential. The ambiance is cute, trendy, and nostalgic with the game room. The staff that brought our food was kind and had great customer service. Food: The first time I had the Parmesan wings they were phenomenal, and the best I ever had. The second time, the coating was clumpy, salty, and not appetizing. I'm hoping they work on the consistency because I LOVED these wings. The pizza.... I honestly ordered it once and I was not incredibly impressed to order it again. I like oily thin crust pizza but the crust needs to be crispier to hold up to all the oil. Spinach artichoke dip- all I have to say is please just take it off the menu. Or change everything about it. 0/10
google avatar

Yulianna V.

Yelp
Probably the best pizza and wings in Katy. We had the Ranch hand pizza and it was absolutely delicious. It's got pulled pork, red onion, bbq sauce and pineapple. A literal flavor bomb in your mouth. The chili thai wings have to be my all time favorite as well. Staff was super friendly and gave us great recommendations. Place was clean and a bit empty but because they are still new you the area so show these guys some love! You won't be disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and nice enviroment. Pizza was good and unique. Never had a slice so big. I would recommend this place to any pizza fan.
