We ordered for pickup. By the time I got the order to opening at home was 18-20 minutes. That's worth noting.
The restaurant was nicely arranged, good spacing of tables, super clean (to be expected with recent opening), a good sized outside patio and inside bar. They have a display with a nice variety of HUMUNGOUS pieces of pizza, a small game room, a huge gumball machine, a bar and patio along with the dining area.
Everyone was friendly. They weren't busy--4:15pm pick up so that's to be expected. I asked about their daiquiris...they have several machines at the end of the bar. I wanted to know if they used wine or liquor. A man who appeared to be a manager told me they were liquor and showed me how they are labeled on the machines. He gave me a taste of 2 flavors. They were both good...one was pina colada and the other was their namesake.
Let's talk food. We ordered several different things. Meatball slider appetizer, mozzarella cheese logs with marinara, fried dough and a 16" half & half pizza (barbecue chicken & the skinny boy).
Meatball slider- a decent sized meatball which was really juicy and flavorful. The bun suffered from the trip in the to-go container. The bottom was soggy and couldn't be eaten. The top was soft and tasty, though. There are 2 sliders per order.
Mozzarella logs with marinara- first they are huge! They had a decent cheese pull and I bet fresh at the restaurant they were crispy. They weren't crispy when we got them home. We still enjoyed them very much. Flavorful breading, too....it was a little thick which was appropriate for the size of the cheese. They came 4 to an order with a cup of marinara, which was really good. I liked the size of the tomatoes....not too chunky but a nice small dice. Sauce is important and I like this one.
Fried dough (Fat yay's)--four strips of fried dough dusted with powdered sugar. They were good---I mean, it's fried dough...yum.
Our half n half pizza:
The Skinny Boy--Shrimp, baby spinach, Roma tomatoes, artichoke hearts, garlic oil and shredded mozzarella. This was a really good pizza. I will definitely get this again. The shrimp are perfectly seasoned and not overcooked. It's a light pizza that's full of flavor. We enjoyed the crust on the pizza, too.
Barbecue chicken- sliced chicken breast, Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce, mozzarella (red onions but I omitted them). Meh, not bad but I'm not likely to get it again. The bbq sauce is too sweet for me. Chicken wasn't very flavorful but it was moist.
Overall, I say go check out Fat Boys pizza. I was not disappointed with the flavors. Definitely eating in restaurant versus pick up next time. I'll edit to confirm if the to-go containers influenced the sliders or mozzarella sticks. I think I'm going to enjoy trying the many different pizza flavors and a few of those daiquiri as well. My husband wants to try the dessert knots. They are fresh baked knots covered with brown sugar, butter & topped with cinnamon sugar & house-made ricotta icing. Definitely on the list for next visit.
