Walked in and immediately greeted by super nice and friendly staff. The cupcakes and cakes looked perfect. The ones that we purchased, have also been very tasty. I highly recommend checking them out. They are pricey, but it is well worth the money.

Find this place by accident a few weeks ago. Ordered a dozen mini's for me and my partner. We ate most of them in the car before we even left. Moist and full of flavor! So I decided to order a cake for her birthday. She wanted to try the Pretty & Pink Fat Cupcake. They said it's just like the cupcake... not at all true! First off... no box for it to fit in, the cake was not at all moist, hardly any mousse filling, and way too much frosting vs cake! VERY DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST FOR THE MONEY SPENT!

We had been looking for a place to get our cupcake craving fix since moving to Oregon and we loved this place! We ended up using them for our wedding and they were incredible. The staff was great at answering all of our questions and having everything ready on the day of. We got to provide our guests with so many options (including vegan). Our guests loved them so much, they were all gone, we didn't have any left over! Perfect flavors and texture. Thank you FAT cupcake for making our day extra special!

I’ve been going to FAT Cupcake for years. I love all of their cakes and cupcakes. The new location on Woodstock is super cute. If you don’t see something on display you can ask for it and they usually have it on the back. Greatly recommend checking them out!

We ordered mini-cupcakes and a small cake from Fat Cupcake for our wedding and they were AMAZING! Easy to work with and flexible with the changes we had to make last minute regarding pickup. I can't recommend them more for your next event (or just a random day when you need a sweet treat!)

Love this place! I was at the newer Woodstock location and I accidentally hit the wrong number when asked “was there a wait” in the review. Anyway, There is never a wait. I always get right in and out and the service there is fabulous. The cupcakes are a work of art. They are as beautiful as they are delicious. So good and what a variety! There are so many flavors to choose from - and by the way they also have cake and pies- more than just cupcakes. They have all kinds to choose from or you can special order. They are perfect for a special party or wedding or anything that you need a cake for. Just go to look at how pretty the display cases are. What I really like is you can walk in at the last minute and they always have lots of fresh baked goodies to choose from in case you’re unorganized sometimes like I am and you didn’t pre-order a dessert!

My favorite cake shop shut down last spring. I was convinced I wouldn’t find something as good. After searching and waffling I found fat cupcake and decided to give it a try. We ordered the butler cake for my son’s birthday and it was delicious. I am so glad I have found a place I can look forward to ordering from for special events!

It was our first time having these cupcakes. I ordered them online. They were very beautiful and extremely tasty. We had the cupcakes delivered and they came expertly packaged. The only thing I wish I had known was that a small cupcake really meant mini cupcake. They were delicious, but it would be nice website if the photos or descriptions represented the sizes better. I would have purchased the bigger ones if I had known.

First time coming here. It's a nice and clean bakery. They have wheat free items to choose from. I'm not much into chocolate filling. So I picked up the Daisy Hayes cupcake. White cake with strawberry mousse and vanilla buttercream. It was so delicious. Parking is side street only. No parking lot available.

A great spot for a sweet treat! I typically hate getting cakes for a small celebration, as I know that it'll never be finished, so cupcakes are a great alternative. Fat Cupcake offers a wide variety of cupcakes and in both a bigger and mini size. They also do regular cakes and catering. Amazing. When I went here, the inside of the shop smelled heavenly and all of the cupcakes looked divine. I love how there's so many different flavors and from the ones I've tried, they're all delicious. I highly recommend this spot for cupcakes in Portland!

I love this place! It smells so good, the instant you walk in the store, and the staff is very friendly, helpful and quick! I love the concept of getting a full-size cupcake or a mini one to taste and try different ones. And, the flavor choices are mouth-watering delicious! The first time I went I got full-size cupcakes, and the last time we got a dozen mini- ones and it was fun cuz everyone in the family got to try different ones! I am so grateful that this cupcakery is in my neighborhood! I highly recommend them for any occassion!

My favorite cupcakes in Portland. I've tried all the flavors and there isn't a bad one to be had. They're also available on DoorDash now, which is helpful in a pinch'! The mini cupcakes are adorable but I say go big or don't go at all.

I have followed Fat Cupcake on social media for awhile, I honestly don't recall how I found out about them but hadn't been able to get to their Oregon City location. I was ecstatic to find out they were opening a new location closer to me and I just had to make it to their grand opening! I visited their new location in SE Portland off of Woodstock and it was beautiful! The shop is bright and welcoming and has several great photo worthy designs for a cute backdrop and photo op. It's not a huge space but if you plan to take your cupcakes to go then it's perfect but there were several tables to stay and enjoy your treats on sight. Since it was the grand opening we got free party cupcake [vanilla cake with sprinkles] and it was perfection! One the cake is so light and fluffy and the perfect amount of sweet. It melted in my mouth SO good!! We also snagged some minis to take home and enjoy later and they were also very delicious and moist! I am a little biased when it comes to chocolate flavors because I am a sucker for chocolate but my favorite flavors we tried were the Black Velvet and Dough Boy!

I got my birthday cake from here on 3/6 I loved it (it was cookies and cream) I got the astronaut one I RECOMMENDED

Cupcakes always feel a bit overrated and expensive. I have to say fat cupcake is a bit of a game changer. We ordered a variety of xmas cakes. The cake is light and fluffy. The frosting is not overly sweet. The extra touches on design are unique. They also have great carrying boxes so they don't tip when you carry them. We are a big fan. Enjoy!

Absolutely delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cookies! It was my wife's birthday and she wanted a pink champagne cake. I knew I couldn't get a cake made in time so I happened across Fat Cupcake. I called the phone number on Yelp, and called. They said they had a pink Champagne cake and it would be ready when I stopped by in 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it! While I was there, I bought a mini cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie for my 7-year old who is a cookie snob. The inside of the shop is quaint with a boutique feel and the employees have service down to a T! Everyone was welcoming and accommodating in my last minute scramble. The prices are reasonable and the offerings in the front are plentiful and mouth watering! When I brought my purchases home I gave the chocolate chip cookie to my son and I watched him to gauge his response. Upon the first bite he had a measured look on his face but after a moment his eyes got large and he said it was delicious! He had had chocolate chip cookies from all over the world and he said this is a contender for the best. My wife loved the cake and the fact that she closed her eyes after the first bite said it all. We have a few more birthdays this month and even though the drive is an hour a way, whenever a cake is required I know where I will go.

It was a little pricey but the cupcakes where delicious it's a great Birthday gift or any Special Holiday

Fat Cupcake was our vendor for our wedding and everyone loved the cupcakes! They're so delicious and aesthetically beautiful. The business was very easy to work with and very friendly.

wow! my wife insisted we give them a try, and I was not disappointed. after our fill of pink boxes, and cupcake kings, we have found our new favorite sweets! the mini's were great and easy to eat in the car. The thick icing really makes the cupcake!

Wonderful local bakery I paid a visit on Friday evening. They have a great selection of cupcakes that my wife and I loved. Pay them a visit and I promise you will not regret it. We will definitely be back soon!

Cupcakes are amazing but I will have to say service wasn't all that great. The person that took my order wasn't a very good listener. I had asked for 3 items and only got two out of the 3. I went back in to get the third item. She seemed confused for some reason. It wasn't even that busy and she wasn't very accommodating.

I'm going to keep this simple. These are the best cupcakes around. Fat Cupcake has a great variety of cupcakes including this one, The Charlie. Which is Chocolate Cake, a peanut butter cup baked inside, and peanut butter buttercream. The cupcakes are are always most, never dry. When you have the urge for a great cupcake, look no further. You won't be disappointed!

Ordered another yummy cake from Fat Cupcake last minute...one of these days I'll plan ahead...The red is from a candle...the 3 yr old is an energetic blower .

Brought home an assortment for my family to try and they were a hit! So good! The Intern is my personal favorite.

Often places that peddle sugar are less then in my opinion. Fat cupcake is not less then in my opinion. The cupcakes each had good flavor and weren't just about the sugar. They may have been slightly heavy on the icing on top, but I enjoyed every bite. The champagne cupcake was light and delicious and the one with the cookies and cream was probably my favorite. Sorry no photos, they were just too good.

The lady was super friendly, was helpful with describing all the flavors and recommending her favorites. It was in a sketchy part of town and the building wasn't the prettiest also smelled like mildew. She said that they were trying to move to a new location asap and that it was going to be much bigger and nicer. Can't wait to see it! We got six big cupcakes and they barely made it home because we couldn't stop eating them. Our favorite flavor was the lemon one. So delicious definitely going back the next time we are in Portland!

Absolutely wonderful! We were looking for a wedding cake for our COVID-delayed wedding reception. I contacted a couple of places that were no longer doing cakes due to the pandemic, then one place that was super expensive. When I contacted Fat Cupcake, they responded right away and said they would be thrilled to do our cake. I work in customer service and this really said a lot to me. They were super easy to work with. They do a to-go cake tasting, which makes sense in these pandemic times, and it's only $10. It was so much fun to take the cake, filling and frosting samples home and taste everything! I was pleased to discover that their products were so good. We ended up getting a three layer cake, with a different frosting for one layer and different fillings for each layer. They delivered the cake to our event space, which made everything so seamless and easy for us. We wanted a simple looking cake, it was really nice looking and perfect! The cake itself was soooo delicious. Many of our guests thought the vanilla cake with lemon curd filling was the best, but we loved the vanilla cake with raspberry filling and chocolate icing. Everyone kept saying how moist and tasty the cake was, and asking us who did it. I'm diabetic and can only have sugar a few times a year on special occasions, this was such a fantastic treat, Fat Cupcake really made our reception special!

My husband lay ill with Covid on his birthday. All he wanted was to try out Fat Cupcake. Since I was the one who gave him Covid, a trip to Fat Cupcake was the least I could do. I was impressed with the array of cupcakes and appreciated that they came in mini sizes. The service was prompt and friendly. In the blink of an eye, I had a box with one of everything for my sick hubby - and everyone else in the household.

$2.75 for ONE mini cupcake? You all are charging Sprinkles Cupcakes prices when you are definitely not Sprinkles Cupcakes quality. Not worth the price for something that is gone in one, maybe two bites. The frosting is thin and lackluster and the cake part is not dense enough. Tastes similar to something I can find in Albertsons or Vons. Picture is from the delivery I got, cupcakes were already tipped over. You all should consider getting a different type of box to store cupcakes. Lame.

Great cupcakes in a cute little shop. Location is kind of weird - way out from downtown and no parking immediately. But you can go down the street and walk. Highly recommend getting the smaller sizes so you can try many! They were all good but the tuxedo was a standout.

My husband and I met on Bumble so we ordered a BeeHive shaped wedding cake from Fat Cupcake for our wedding. It was fantastic! We also had a tower of mini cupcakes in an assortment of flavors and all of our guests raved about them. Windy and the team at Fat Cupcake were great to work with during the planning process and helped facilitate a fun cupcake tasting event prior to the big day so we could pick our favorite flavors. We highly recommend Fat Cupcake!

The branding is cute, and I was sold by the social media presence and reviews left by others on Yelp and Google. Being a foodie, having a sweet tooth and always seeking to find the "best in its category" locally, I am sharing my honest feedback based on my experience. The store I went to was in SE Portland, coming from Beaverton, about a 30 min drive. It's a very cute and small store with a vintage vibe to it, no onsite parking but close enough parking available in the residential street nearby. They did enforce safety precautions for covid (limited capacity and mask requirement), which I appreciated. The ladies at the counter and whoever I placed the order with on the phone were gems and a delight to work with. Great attitude and customer service. They even accommodated a slight tweak in my order (not custom) an hour before I picked up. They have everyday flavor offerings as well as limited/seasonal flavors (for Easter they had carrot cake and hoppy easter cupcakes) in both regular and mini sizes. You can also go the custom route but there is a minimum order of 12. I did not opt for that only because this was for my virtual baby shower and I didn't need a dozen cupcakes all to myself, just for the decor. I ordered 6 of the regular sized ones in: The Intern, The Professional, Lemon Doodle and White Velvet. The box was nicely packaged and wrapped in saran wrap to preserve it in the fridge until it was time to display/eat. Coming to the taste of the cupcakes, I reallllyyy did not like the mouth feel of the frosting, but that's just me. It felt very greasy/oily in the mouth which I wasn't a fan of. While it wasn't exactly the cheap buttercream frosting that some of the grocery store bakeries have, it also was not like the cool, fluffy frosting with that delicate balance of sweet and creaminess- it just felt like I had a bunch of shortening in my mouth. The cake itself was underwhelming, not to be critical but I have had boxed cake mix that was more moist and flavorful. The cake flavors unfortunately were too bland to be anything noteworthy. The combination of the texture of the frosting and the dull cake flavors was not a win for me in the cupcake department. I will continue my search to find the perfect cupcake in Portland! If you're looking for something cute, reasonably priced and don't care so much about the cupcake flavor being generic, it's a great place. But if you're looking for a truly exceptional flavor/texture experience, perhaps this wouldn't be the top choice. Ultimately, my rating was based on the exceptional service I received and not the taste of the cupcake as much, because that's completely subjective and people have different preferences when it comes to what appeals to them personally.

Stopped in on my daughters birthday so she could pick out a special cake. They had a few great options and they gave my 9 year old a free cupcake for her birthday. She was estatic about her special cake and then even more excited about a surprise cupcake. The staff was super friendly and quick to add "happy Birthday" to her cake. Thanks for making my little girls birthday so special.

Best place to get a wedding cake! I was to happy to see the Cake and it tasted better then any other cake places that I've been too 10/10 would recommend this to anyone

We were so happy with the whole process, from our first tasting appointment, which made us feel so appreciated and celebrated, to the excited reaction from our wedding guests, who couldn't get enough of these adorable treats! I am open to changing my review based on how well customer service pans out. We will se y'all. I have hope . Anyways, seems like there is a trend here.. don't do for weddings NO GO FOR WEDDINGS. I've read several comments about the infamous tastings and felt somewhat relieved I wasn't the only one but also upset? I had emailed back and forth about our tasting reservation. Once we get there after a lengthy drive, turns out we aren't on the list and they aren't prepared for us. The staff wasn't super kind (only once so we assumed she was overworked, we get it) we get rushed through our testing, we aren't giving full sample at least of two things because they didn't have them on hand. It's fine, we aren't trying to be rude but it did kinda ruin the whole experience. We were both hoping for a nice tasting getting excited for our wedding but it was the most akward thing ever. I honestly thought that since it was a mess up on their end (not having us written on their board despite me having multiple confirmation emails of said tasting) they charged me for the whole thing.. fine we'll pay. I call and make an order despite the bittersweet experience. I give my card info and pay in full. We get no order receipt at all, nada. I forgot about this because we have so much on our plate. Fast forward to today, unfortunately needing to cancel our event. Since we are about 3 weeks out, I think it seems fair to cancel so we call and get told we lose 50% of our money. We were NEVER told this. Not by writing, not via phone, not via email. Nothing. I was shocked. The only thing we had been told was to call ahead if I needed to change my pickup location. I am told there is nothing they can do and if I want to maybe reschedule since my event is cancelled. I mean.. not really? After telling my husband he asked me if I had any email or receipt were this policy was stated, I said no. He asked if I had been told via phone, I said no. I have emailed the business because how is a customer supposed to know?? I searched all over their website and there is NOTHING regarding this. I'm sure maybe the person who took my order forgot, we get it! But it isn't the customers fault.. So be advised, ASK ABOUT POLICY BEFORE ORDERING FROM HERE!!

What an amazing cupcake experience. The filled mini cupcakes are amazing and just the right amount of sweet without making u feel sick lol I would eat all of them if I could lol.

Their cupcakes are delicious and so moist! I love that they are offering a Take Home Decorating Kit for their cupcakes during this time. This makes for a great activity to do with kids or even just for yourself to keep busy during the quarantine. My nephew loved being able to frost his own cupcake and add as many sprinkles as he wanted. They offer these kits in a dozen and half dozen quantity.

Sooo many mini cupcakes to choose from. And a lot of them have something inside of them, either a filling or something chocolaty. They also have gluten free and vegan options. We will be back.

VEGAN / WHEAT FREE VANILLA & CHOCOLATE cupcakes available! $3.5 per cupcake. I think it is a little too sweet so I have to eat half and save the other half for later. I wish there were mini sizes available but if you're ever in the area, just know that fat cupcake has vegan options!!

Wow! I'll be honest that I'm pretty picky about baked goods since I bake so much at home, so I'm always hesitant about trying a new place. This place was absolutely amazing! We bought 7 different cupcakes and they were all delicious (although we ate 3 before remembering to take a picture).The pink champagne one wasn't as good as the rest BUT that is because they're all already at such a high quality of flavor so it was still good. The Nanny which I think was seasonal was definitely the star. The intern and the one with Oreo close seconds. I look forward to coming back here soon.

I generally don't care for cookies n cream, but their cookies n cream cupcake was pretty good so that won me over. The cupcake crumb is light and fluffy, only slightly dry. The frosting very good, lots of flavor. The presentation is very nice. I like the various flavors and their names. I tried four different ones and Suit & Tie was my favorite (black and white cake with caramel frosting).

These cupcakes were so yummy! Even the mini one that I got too! They have a large selection and was so hard to choose from. My favorite is the pink one! The staff was super friendly, I would definitely recommend and come back!

These ladies were amazing, not to mention the cupcakes! Our party dwindled in size at the last minute and the allowed us to shrink our order last minute! And they did with grace and ease even though they were swamped! Thank you!!!

In the middle of a rainstorm I happened to pull off the street in front of Fat Cupcake so I went inside! What a delight! They gave me one small cupcake to try (I had pulled up a yelp coupon!) and I was sold! Loved the one with the blue turq topping and the strawberry filling... as well as the german chocolate one. I will be back to try more!

Well Well Well. Its not just cupcakes they serve, but layered cakes, too. Saved my butt at the last moment when I needed to buy a birthday cake in a pinch. At a most reasonable price. From the time I entered the bakery and walked out, took only ten minutes, tops. Nice young lady behind the counter even offered to write "happy birthday" on the chocolate ganache filled super chocolaty iced cake. Wife wanted chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. And she got it. This will be my "go to" birthday cake purchasing from now on.

These ain't yo' mama's cupcakes, useless yo' mama is a gourmet baker. Are the cupcakes diverse? YES. Are there two sizes, littles and regular? YES. Are they decorated to the hilt? YES. Are they cheap? What do you expect for gourmet, "ain't yo' mama's" cupcakes? Littles were $1.25 each or $14 for a dozen of these little gems. Regular sized were $2.75 each and $30 for a dozen. There are also Specialty cupcakes that are a bit more. I ordered a dozen littles, three each of, Suit & Tie, Charlie Brown, Lemon Doodle and Raspberry Rex. All were fresh and beautiful. The littles are two-bite-size for an adult. Service from the young lady was helpful courteous and attentive. So, why not 5 stars? The raspberry in the Rex was minimal and barely noticed with all the chocolate cake and frosting. The Lemon Doodle was lemony but not doodly. They also sell cakes. I saw several in various stages and the decorations were amazing. I bet they taste as good as they look, and as good as most of the cupcakes. This review has been edited since my first visit. There had been a problem with the ovens. I complained about an odd taste and the owner contacted me with a heartfelt thanks and apology and offered to replace my dozen little. I took her up on this offer and they were wonderful. I did try a few new flavors ( not the Rex and Lemon doddle) and they were all great. My wife wasn't fond of the banana cupcake as she said it had the problem she always tastes with banana, it tasted artificially flavored. I thought it was fine and very banana flavored. My favorite of them all is The Professional (Oreo) and the Suit and Tie (salted caramel).

Stopped by new locale off Woodstock and this place is super cute. Ordered a dozen mini cupcakes to sample all the fun flavors and coworkers agree that we should get more next time. Lol. Till then...I'll be sweet dreaming! Staff was also very nice and knows their stuff!

perfectly lovely service and I'm hoping this small business sticks around. the big BUT is that I bought two regular chocolate cupcakes today and both of us noticed a very 'off' flavor. it tasted to me like a moldy refrigerator saturated the frosting. a chemical-like flavor, and my friend said she thought the cake was also stale. this was a Monday morning purchase. maybe those cupcakes sat in the cooler all weekend? even if so, however, their cooler should produce no 'off' odors or flavors and the cakes should be fresher. so sorry it wasn't a good experience as I've been looking forward to trying them.

yay cupcakes! This is an awfully cute store in a corner of Portland that doesn't have a ton of awfully cute anything. They also have very friendly service, and if my one visit is to be trusted, very good cupcakes, too! BF and I stopped in. I wanted ONE cupcake. He wanted to try them all. So while I got a single normal-sized "The Intern" which is chocolate cake with espresso filling, Nutella, vanilla buttercream, and caramel sauce. Decadent and I loved it. He got allllll 14 in mini cupcakes, and every bite I stole from his stash was pretty tasty! I like that they have take-home cupcake decorating kits, too. That's a nice little thing for your kids to do over your quarantine! I'd definitely return.

Outstanding. We just recently ordered an engagement announcement cake and a wedding cake. Both were outstanding. The cakes were beautiful and they tasted great.

Service was on point. Cupcakes was aight. Yeah they just aight to my palette you may love them though. I dunno seem kinda small to be called fat cupcake. Probably won't go back but they was aight.

I would've never noticed Fat Cupcake if it weren't for their bright blue storefront driving up on SE 72nd. I like the fact that they have two sizes of cupcakes: mini size and a regular size. If you're like me and want variety, can't make up your mind than Fat Cupcake is where you can purchase a few mini cupcakes to see which one you like best:) Their lemon cupcake is my favorite! They also have an amazing snickerdoodle cookie.

We've been coming here for a while and are so happy to them so nearby. Our first time we decided to get one of everything to share so we could taste them all. First off, I love having filled cupcakes, really adds a lot to a cupcake. They have a lot of flavor profiles and also do a special. We've just been getting cupcakes for birthdays rather than ordering cakes (for the most part). Everyone loves being able to have a couple different flavored cupcakes rather than just a couple slices of the same cake. Plus, they'll give you a free one on your birthday. What's not to like about that? They have a balance of chocolate and white cakes to choose from. We have ordered a cake before and it was gorgeous. Birthday girl absolutely loved it. Totally decadent chocolate, which is her fav. They definitely look and taste so good. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. We'll continue coming here, especially for special occasions.
