"The first of these Nashville-area drive-thru hamburger joints opened in 1991 and has become an affordable go-to for cooked-to-order cheeseburgers, cheesesteaks, and even veggie burgers. Case in point: their 27-ounce Fat Mo’s Super Deluxe Burger at only $12.99. Be sure to save room for their spicy fries, onion rings, and soft-serve milkshakes." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Delia Jo Ramsey

"Iranian immigrant Mohammad “Mo” Karimy and his wife Shiva opened up the first of several Nashville-area drive-thru-only hamburger joints on Franklin Pike in 1991. Fat Mo’s Burgers is hands down one of the best burger joints in town. Their burgers are massive, juicy, and packed with incredible flavor. From the first bite, you can tell they use high-quality beef, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The buns are soft yet sturdy enough to hold all the delicious toppings without falling apart. One of the best things about Fat Mo’s is the variety of options. Whether you go for a classic cheeseburger, a double bacon monster, or even their spicy jalapeño burger, every bite is satisfying. Their toppings are always fresh, and they don’t skimp on portions—expect a hearty meal that will leave you completely full. Beyond the burgers, their fries are golden and crispy, pairing perfectly with their homemade sauces. If you’re extra hungry, their onion rings and milkshakes are also top-notch, making for the perfect indulgent meal. Fat Mo’s delivers that old-school, no-frills burger experience with unbeatable taste. It’s a must-visit spot for burger lovers who crave big flavors and generous portions. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, Fat Mo’s never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a seriously delicious burger.

Google
When we pulled up the building didn’t look great. But I love supporting small businesses. I told them exactly how I wanted our burger and fries. We got the 1lb burger! It was delicious! Support Fat Mo’s it’s not to far off of I24 and really worth it! My husband also agrees.

Google
Very tasty, big portions. Definitely geared to drive thru especially at night. They have outdoor tables but as it was December was a little too cold. The service was great and the food came out relatively quickly considering it's made to order.

Nick Britt-Cunningham

Google
Best drive thru burger in Nashville. No hyoe. No pretense. Gem of a joint. For me it’s the deluxe burger, gyro sandwhich, stuffed jalepeños, and chocolate shake.

esotericmeme89

Google
Our drinks didn't come with ice and our fries were totally unsalted. Spicy fries were cut differently from normal fries, but no discernable spice. I almost finished the Super Deluxe burger before finding the cheese. The veggie burger my wife got was good. Service was good. Overall, very disappointing.

Tania B

Google
Highly disappointed and disappointing. Didn't receive the order I placed, nor did my sandwich have what I ordered in them. It was greasy and bland. So many other good burger places. This isn't one of them. Shame.

Google
Love fat mo’s - been coming since I was a kid! Great burgers and even better chocolate milkshakes. You can walk up concession-style or drive through on either side. A bit tricky to get back on the road with the traffic but it’s so worth it. Lovely owners and great fast food, even if the line is long they’ll come out and get everyone’s orders so it can be ready when they get to the front.

Google
My favorite burger in Nashville, get the seasoned fries

Sidra S.

Yelp
I just moved to Nashville and this place is truly a hole in the wall gem. I love how everything from their burgers, fries, to milkshake was just FRESH and GOOD. The service was an understatement of spectacular. I'll gladly be back

BT M.

Yelp
I know what you're thinking - it's not a restaurant. When you learn that it is, you're thinking - that can't be a good restaurant. That's your 2nd strike. Let me tell you where you'll get your 3rd and final strike. You're going to order the Super Deluxe burger combo assuming the regular burgers must be small, or that you're that hungry. Oh, you'll add cheese because this is America and these things can be done. I know this, because I do it every. single. time. I've fought that Super Deluxe with fries far too many times. I get it, open it, marvel at the monstrosity, then reality hits - how is all of that gonna fit in my belly. I have taken my first bite driving down Franklin Pike more times than I can recall. Go ahead. Try it. Remember, I tried to tell you.

Yelp
Fat Mo's came in handy to fill me up on a Friday night. I love a good, oversized burger and Fat Mo's delivered! When I pulled up to the drive through, a young guy came out into the cold to take my order. I ordered a cheeseburger with no pickles and fries. When I got to the window, he was back inside to take my payment and hand me my food. You have to wait a little bit for your food, but that's because the food is made to order, so I didn't mind the wait. I've been to several locations around Nashville and each have been consistently good!

Tommy B.

Yelp
No frills. Blink and you'll miss it. No really, I don't think there's a sign. Looks shabby on the outside but has family feel, and a lot of charm. The workers are very sweet, and the food is very good. You can't beat it for the money. I'm picky about hotdogs but the split dog they gave me was great. Burger was cooked perfect, fries were decent. I loved the breaded chicken wings. Although a few were small, they are worth the price. The spice in the breading is amazing. I can't wait to go back and support this business.

Ben H.

Yelp
Absolutely terrific burger, this is everything that five guys wishes they could be. Just go, you won't regret it!

George P.

Yelp
Great burgers. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance of the place on 8th Ave. We were a little skeptical to try at first because of this reason and we're actually on our way to Five Guys when a guy eating his burger in the parking lot rolled down his window and told us his opinion of the place. He said the guy leases the building and therefore doesn't want to pay for the renovations but the burgers themselves were the best in Nashville. I'm not sure if they're the best in Nashville but worth a try.

Yelp
I have eaten at the East Nashville Fat Mo's location before and enjoyed the food. I moved to the south side recently and wanted to try this location. Every time I drove by it it always looked super run down and sketch. I hate judging a book by its cover though, so I went into it with an open mind. The drive through is very tight and difficult to navigate coming from the south on Franklin Rd. I recommend overshooting the property and turning into the mapco instead then going to the drive through. I was waiting behind about three cars for a very long time, but they make everything fresh (as it says on the menu) so I expected a wait. An older woman came out with a notepad and took my order while I was still behind the cars. This was pretty nice and convenient. Me and my son both got the same thing. A Fat Mo burger, fries and a drink. I looked at the menu and was doing calculations in my head, expecting it to be in the neighborhood of maybe $13-15 I finally get to the window where a younger woman verifies the order. The order ended up being $19.46 I paid it. An itemized receipt was not available (it may have been, but I didn't press the issue and didn't ask for one), but the drinks they gave me were massive. They were at least 32 oz. So maybe they helped themselves and upgraded my drink to a XL but I don't know. The food was plentiful, but probably not worth $19.46 The fries were said to have seasoning salt in them. They were pretty bland. The burger had a good taste to it, but it wasn't phenomenal. The bun was toasted but it seemed like it was toasted too much. It was kinda dry. I understand the reasoning. But the burger wasn't juicy enough to soak into the dry bread. Overall verdict: its decent but there are a lot of hidden fees or charges that may have been added. I started reading the yelp reviews while I was in the drive through line and others have said this location is notorious to charge for condiments. When I got to the window they asked me "Do you want ketchup?" I promptly said no. LOL

Tre F.

Yelp
Uhhh, the appearance of the place can be a little off putting, but MANNNNN, that burger is good. It's one of the best burgers I have ever had. Do not allow the building to scare you off. Fries were well done. Plus, the sweet tea was top notch. That part means a lot to me because I can not get good sweet tea in philly. But that burger, in a word....AMAZING. Its more than belly full. Great all the way around

Kendall R.

Yelp
Oh Fat Mo's... I wanted to love you so badly. But, as I lay curled in my bed with a massive stomach ache, I do not love you. When my roommate and I drove up to the shack, I said this will either be the best burger I've ever had or give me food poisoning. I'm sad to report it's closer to the latter. I got a Fat Mo's burger which isn't even their largest burger OR second largest. I order it as a plain cheeseburger and a small chocolate shake as well. The burger was massive and decent, but not spectacular. The chocolate shake was pretty good. Hopefully i just caught them on an off night, but unfortunately I will not be returning.

Nicolette T.

Yelp
Mmmm mmmm. Fat Mo's is the place to go when you have a hanker for a good ole fashioned burger and chocolate shake. The classic American meal is served in all its greasy, delicious glory at this hole-in the-wall. With late night hours Fat Mo's is the perfect place for that late night craving. It is strictly a drive thru restaurant, so keep that in mind if you prefer sit-down places. Service is always very quick, and the food is always hot and tasty. My go-to order is the 1/4 pound burger, seasoned fries, and a chocolate malt milkshake. So dang good.

Joseph G.

Yelp
Stopped here while in town on a work trip for a few weeks in Nashville area. I had sub par service, the prices were pretty high and the burger was pretty bland. Wasn't terrible but nothing special.

Kim M.

Yelp
Fat Mo's is in an unassuming little freestanding building at the furthest edge of the Melrose district. Honestly, it doesn't look like the type of place you'd want to eat, but don't be fooled. This diamond in the rough has been featured on the Food Network and makes a mean burger for next to nothing. Once you figure out the weird double drive through or walk up window ( no speaker, just a menu board to look at, and someone comes out to take your order if there is a line) you can select your burger with a number of available toppings. All the burgers are seasoned and surprisingly not greasy

Cliff M.

Yelp
East Nashville location is extremely rude. As to the time they open, he said it depends on traffic (at 10 am) Then after a long wait for food, he told me I didn't li here. I said after my long wait I wanted to make sure my order was right. He said it was "fn" right. I will not ever go back as long as that jerk is there.

Tessa M.

Yelp
I love giving small places of business a chance. I called place an order told her I would be there in seven minutes. My food still wasn't ready when I arrived. I placed an order for a cheeseburger with everything but tomatoes and it was extremely dry. The patty was dried out. It was a very average burger I could've went to McDonald's and got something a lot better. The fried pickles are delicious but there's no sauce included like there are in the pictures. She did ask me what kind of sauce I would like but I just assume they have their own sauce for the pickles. The breading of the pickles are really nice. The hamburger is ridiculous. Not in a good way. I've had way better from McDonald's. So for a cheeseburger fried pickles and a drink I was charged $17.43. Not cool. It's literally across from the Chick-fil-A. I was sitting there waiting for my food and I thought I could just go to Chick-fil-A but I had already paid for my order.

Scott S.

Yelp
Like most of the other reviews say, don't let the outside fool you! Simple review! Go for it!!! We drove up and were very quickly waited on. We had two fantastic burgers, fries and Pepsi from here. Service was excellent and super friendly. Looking for burgers and fries, can't beat Fatmos!

Roger B.

Yelp
We got two Little Mo's burger meals with fries and drinks. The burgers were thoroughly cooked, yet not dried out, with plenty of fresh toppings. The fries were hot, crisp, and plentiful. We'll be back.

Lou D.

Yelp
Though you may drive up and wonder if they are even open. You will never go wrong with Fat Mo's. This has been one of our favorite Nashville classics for over 20 years. Best burger in town. Be sure to get seasoned fries and a shake. We brought our picky 8 year old, whose face lit up with his first bite.

Kelly C.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for at least 10yrs. I can completely understand that prices have to increase over time, but the service decline is not a good thing. I live 0.4mi from the location, meaning one would expect the food to still be pretty decently hot once you get home and immediately start eating... not these last few times. I order the EXACT same thing every time, the price went up again from last month... I was charged for adding cheese yet there was no cheese on my burger. I presented a coupon which they refused to take; even showed them on an app where it not only shows the establishment but the location in particular. At this rate of prices, I may as well go to Five Guys...

Krystelle L.

Yelp
I usually only try to leave positive reviews (check my history) but... this is my truthful experience. Since CORONA, I've been supporting only local businesses. Despite being unemployed since March, I've invested in a local business at least once/week. I found this spot a few days ago and decided to try it. The food was nothing special (and they got my order wrong) but I decided to make this my new go-to dinner "out" every week because the woman working had been so friendly. Sad to say, after my second visit tonight to Fat Mo's, I will never give then my business again. The man who served me tonight was rude. When I ordered my TWO meals I asked for honey mustard on the side. He told me I'd have to pay $0.64 per side of honey mustard. When I pointed out that I had ordered two meals, he pointed to the menu on the wall to defend his reasoning for wanting to charge me extra. Nowhere on the menu that he pointed said anything about condiments being an extra charge. When I politely pointed that out, he huffed and walked away. Without another word, nor showing me the price, he had me sign my bill. He didn't offer hand me a receipt either. Checked my credit card statement- he ended up charging me $3.00 for sides of a condiment to go with the TWO meals I purchased from him. I'm sure he also spit in my food (although hopefully not since, ya know... Corona virus). Small businesses should know to do better, especially now when we are ALL hurting financially. Treat your customers with gratitude that they are choosing to patron YOUR business. I can get cheaper & better (& faster) service across the street at Chick-fil-A ... and they don't charge $0.64 for a condiment to go with your meal. Oh ya, and I'm burger-obsessed so they just lost a potential regular customer. I'll be giving my money to the other local burger businesses: ML Rose, Hopdoddy, Burger Up, or Brother's Burgers where the service has always been outstanding.

James R.

Yelp
Best burger I've had so far in Nashville, TN. Catfish sandwich is tasty too. To be honest I haven't had a bad experience and customer service is out of this world.

matt s.

Yelp
This is your late-night omg-I-just-ate-a 2lb burger! spot. I got a 1lb burger with everything - bacon cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños, lettuce, BBQ sauce and pickles and...oh heck who knows. The bun was soft as a baby's bottom, and everything was cooked that instant. By the way, it was $11 for burger fries and huge drink. You definitely want the seasoned fries and extra napkins. The owner is super-nice. It was 10 at night and I sat on picnic tables outside. Now, don't come here looking for truffle fries, white tablecloths, big-screen tv's, or valet parking. Forget getting a gluten-free bun, bruised kale salad, or homemade ketchup. DO come and forget Hardee's, 5-guys, Sonic, and every other late-night pub burger joint. Open until 10 or 11 most nights.

Lloyd C.

Yelp
The burger was okay but found out owners changed twice and the recipe changed when they sold it. As a matter of fact they don't even carry or offer the Iranian Juice anymore. The owners took the Iranian Juice recipe with them. I would pass on this joint just to many burger spots with more flavorful burgers. Now don't get me wrong therr was nothing wrong with the burger and it had flavor but I was looking to taste that Iranian Juice do it just didn't hit my taste spot. I may be a bit demanding when it comes to American Cuisine there are so many burger joints you got to rise above average. So if you want a lot of beef get the 27 oz. Deluxe Cheese Burger.

Alli C.

Yelp
Excellent. -don't judge the shack-like building, the food was outstanding. Seasoned fries, lil mo's burger. Hamburgers and homemade and you can taste the seasoning in every bite. Will def come back to try other menu items!

Jess R.

Yelp
Love fat mo's! I live across the street, so we always walk up and grab a burger and seasoned fries and each time has been amazing. Also great mom and pop spot if you want to support local! :)

F M.

Yelp
On point every time! Cooked fresh to order. I would get it over 5 guys any day. Jalapeño poppers are always a nice add.

Charlotte L.

Yelp
Well, after years in Nashville - looking but not stopping at this curiously crowded burger joint - I finally made it to Fat Mo's! Hunger had hit me in a bad way, and the promise of a greasy burger beckoned. This isn't your normal drive-through. Maneuver your car into one of two lanes, which ultimately hug either side of the teeny establishment. About 30 feet behind the building, there's a sign with the menu. Eventually, a dude came out the back door of Fat Mo's and approached my car. He took my order on a clipboard and trotted back inside. Now, get this: it's called FAT Mo's. Not FAST Mo's. I was probably in line for about 10-15 minutes before I got to the window. But, as it turns out, the wait was worth it! I ordered a regular cheeseburger (no onions), fries and a diet Coke. Unfortunately, they messed up my order a bit - after driving off, I discovered I gad a burger w onions and onion rings. That said, once I picked the onions off the cheeseburger, I dug in and adored it! Greasy and savory in all the right ways!! My son devoured the onion rings - delicious, he said! I'd definitely go to Fat Mo's again. But I'd love myself plenty of time to I don't feel rushed and I'd make sure my order was clearly taken. Other than that, yay!

Taylor R.

Yelp
Solid AF. You want a good burger in a weird location? Do conventional drive thrus bore you? Need a challenge? Try Fat Mo's. Somewhere on the property is a menu but no spoilers! Seriously I love this place tho.

Bailey B.

Yelp
These burgers are GIGANTIC. Their deluxe burger was almost too much for me to handle. The meat was well seasoned, the fries (both varieties) were crispy and fresh, and the service was fast and friendly. They have a cute (albeit a little worn down) picnic area to eat at behind the shack. You might not think much of the place at first glance, but really, give it a chance You'll be glad you did. Nothing like devouring a monstrous pound of meat on a cloudy summer day in the fresh air, with an ice cold Pepsi to wash it down with.

Joe S.

Yelp
I love Fat Mo's. Great food, good price, good service. However, I find fault in their hidden fees. I've noticed the slight overcharge many times in the past, so I decided today to confirm the exact numbers. I called in to order, asked for the price of the food I was ordering, and it came to $6.38. With the current Nashville sales tax of 9.25%, I should have paid $6.97. When I went to pay and pick up the food, I was charged $7.41, 6.75% more than what I should have paid. It's still a great price for the food, don't get me wrong! But it's a shame that they have hidden fees, and for that reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5. In the end, I recommend it highly, but be aware that you will pay a bit more than you would think from what they advertise.

Mo C.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh food, this is the place to go. There's a wide selection of sandwiches and burgers for meat lovers and vegetarians. The sandwiches are fresh and cooked well. The little mo is a great tasting burger with every topping and the seasoned fries are a must try. Definitely visiting again.

Chalee W.

Yelp
Great burger, meat is fresh! The place is ran down but don't be fooled ! Try it and see for yourself..

Alexis B.

Yelp
I thought since this place had been around for a while that they might have good burgers, but I was seriously disappointed. No better than any fast food burger. (We also tried the stuffed jalapenos, which were pretty much inedible due to the overwhelming processed food taste of the "cheese" the jalapenos were stuffed with - I'd be shocked if they made these themselves!) Within a quarter of a mile of Fat Mo's is a McDonald's, a Krystal, and ML Rose. After tasting the burger at Fat Mo's, I have no idea how it's stayed open for so long. Definitely a local spot. But definitely not impressed.

Scott L.

Yelp
I know this a really good burger place. Also the falafel is is about the best I have ever had. Very economic lunch too.

Belle E.

Yelp
Nashville's best kept secret. This place slings the best hamburgers this side of the Cumberland. Cant say enough about this family run burger spot, really worth a try. Don't let the looks of the building deceive you, this place SLAPS. Fried pickles, fried mushrooms, O rings, spicy fries, thicc hamburgers, veggie burgers, shakes... you name it, this place brings it and brings it hard.

Erin R.

Yelp
So great. Burger is fantastic and awesome shakes Usually it isn't that long of a wait time either. Yummy

Ginger W.

Yelp
I love Fat Mo's! The Little Mo is the perfect size. The spicy fries are soooo good. And, you can't beat the prices. Whenever I come home to Nashville I must have some.

Donut Disturb R.

Yelp
No frills little place sandwiches between a gas station and oil change place, right next to I-65 doesn't exactly inspire confidence. But if you can get past the aesthetics, food will delight your taste buds and prices will make your wallet happy. 2 drive through windows and walk-up window and some picnic tables to enjoy the view/atmosphere/road noise. Service was fast and efficient. Everything we ordered was fresh, extremely flavorful, and generous portions. I have found my favorite cheap eats in Nashville.

Taylor P.

Yelp
The customer service is terrible first off. They get the orders completely wrong and still up charge you for what you didn't get and when you ask them to correct it they get defensive and claim they have made no mistakes. Keep in mind this is after they've repeated the order to you multiple times and still butcher your order. They also charge .50 cents for mayo or any other condiments never give out napkins with your order they may as well ask for .50 cents for the napkins as well cheapest Kurdish people on the planet not like any other Kurdish establishment where the people are welcoming and correct their own errors not claim they haven't made any. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FAT MOS GO TO THE ONE ON RICHARDS ROAD FOR WAY BETTER SERVICE AND BETTER TASTING FOOD WHAT BURGER JOINT CHARGES FOR CONDIMENTS YOU WANT ME TO EAT A PLAIN BURGER NO MAYO MUSTARD OR KETCHUP!???

Jabob S.

Yelp
Are you looking for the best fast food burger in Nashville? Want to hit up a good burger joint without leaving your car? Are you ready for this to be a lifestyle? Welcome to Fat Mo's. I rate them above five guys in the fast food category, and these people are so nice. In this cold weather, they'll walk out to your car to make sure you can take your order if you're not at the drive thru window yet (no talk box). I don't have much else to say. I like my vanilla milkshake with the burger and fries.

Patrick R.

Yelp
Unlike the Fat Mo's over on the East Side, this one has a walk-up window in addition to two drive-throughs. Just like the East Nashville Fat Mo's, however, al of their burgers, sandwiches and fries are absolutely delicious, and you never have to wait more than a couple minutes for your order. This little location on Franklin is pretty easy to overlook, but if you can spot it, it's definitely worth the stop. Their burgers and roast beef sandwiches are just about the best you can get for the price, and the staff is always quick. The combos only cost between $5 and $8, but you still get huge portions. At first glance, it might seem a little unclean or shady, but they tend to do well on health inspections, and I have no complaints. Worth checking out.

Erin C.

Yelp
I really enjoy their burgers. Good values for the food. Burgers are pretty juicy and tasty and big. Too bad they charge separate for fries. The seasoned spicy fries are delicious, but could use some more spiciness. The chicken strips tasted kind like McD's chicken nuggets. That being said, I would not get those again.

Michael M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice MA and pop burger place this is it. Good service, nice menu, and good food. Fast in and out so your not wasting you lunch time in a line. Come by and give them a chance.

Anna J.

Yelp
Really great burgers at great prices! The burgers are huge and tasted fresh! The seasoned spicy fries are the best. Some of their other apps are pretty good too like the stuffed jalapeños. The portions are huge. The pills cheese steak here is actually pretty descent also, I just wish they put more meat in there. Other than that no complaints, great place to get lots of food for a descent price.

Rory M.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the exterior. Fresh to order. Plentiful. Delicious. What else could you ask for?? The grilled chicken sandwich is TO DIE FOR. Moist, juicy chicken. Comes with ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onion. AH MAZE ING. Don't forget the spicy fries - super crispy and delicious :)

Brandon S.

Yelp
Diamond in the rough. If you can get past the exterior and get a "fat mo burger" you'll be happy you did. Tastes so good and then add the spicy fries and if you're feeling really crazy one of their milkshakes. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is stopping here for lunch or dinner to take home.

Bobby K.

Yelp
While I enjoyed the food, I could've done without the constipation, vomiting, and endless diarrhea that struck later that night. I am a long time customer, but sadly I don't think i'll be returning.

Grace S.

Yelp
Loved fat Mo's! Came to visit but wanted something cheap and good and it did not disappoint! The burgers are a must and don't even think about getting the regular fries bc the spicy ones are so much better and not spicy at all, just perfectly seasoned! The place is a drive thru hole in the wall but the staff is so pleasant and a great place to go and get the best cheap burger ever!

John S.

Yelp
Fat Mo's offers a dependable, tasty burger. The place itself looks like it's stuck in the 60s or 70s which adds to the appeal. I stick with the Little Mo (1/4 lb. burger) with spicy fries which complement the burger perfectly. One day I may branch out to try other items and their expansive menu, but the burger is so good that it's hard to pass up. If you're looking for a drive-thru burger that far exceeds your standard fast-food fare expectations, I highly recommend giving Fat Mo's a try.

Haley R.

Yelp
Surprisingly, amazing. One of the best burgers i've had in the city. The line -like everyone else says- is a little confusing. They will come out and take your order. Everything is decently priced. I got the little burger with spicy fries for $6 and it was a lot more food than i was expecting. It was very good. Definitely give it a try if you are craving a fresh burger.
