Terrible Service and Overpriced for What You Get
Let me start by saying I’m usually a very generous tipper — I always appreciate good service. But this place was something else.
Three of us came in for dinner. The total bill, including tax, came to $120. The restaurant doesn’t offer table service — you order everything yourself. The only thing the server did was bring the food to our table. That’s it.
She gave us just two cups for three people, and we had to get our own drinks, straws. The food was very salty She didn’t offer to refill water until we were literally getting ready to leave — and there were only four tables of customers in the whole place. When I needed a to-go box, I had to go up and get it myself.
When it came time to pay, I tipped $12 — again, keep in mind the service was minimal. Before I even finished writing, she said, “We usually get 18% tips,” then added, “You should at least give 15%.” I was shocked. This is the first time I’ve ever had a server directly and rudely demand a specific tip amount.
Sorry, but with that kind of service, I’d be well within reason to leave no tip at all. I know times are tough for restaurants, but being pushy and entitled about tips is completely unacceptable. I won’t be coming back — and I’ll be letting my friends know to stay away as well.
Bottom line: poor service, salty food, and an awkward, uncomfortable experience.
