"Next year, Plano skewered meats spot Fat Ni BBQ will open its second DFW location in Carrollton. A job posting on Fat Ni BBQ’s website indicates that it will open at 2528 Old Denton Road, behind the giant development that houses 99 Ranch Supermarket. The first outpost opened at 2001 Coit Road in Plano in 2016, and is a spinoff of owner Guiqiao Chen’s successful chain of food trucks in New York City. For Dallasites who haven’t made the trip to Fat Ni in Plano, the restaurant specializes in Beijing-style street food, and meats on sticks dominate the menu. The proteins range from chicken hearts to lamb tendon and pork belly, and a bounty of skewered vegetables is also on offer. The restaurant also makes its own spicy chicken and cumin lamb noodles daily. It’s a haven for budget-conscious diners, with each skewer priced between $1.50 and $2. There are some exceptions, though, like the lamb testicle and lobster tail skewers. Fat Ni BBQ is expected to debut in Carrollton in January 2019. Stay tuned for an official opening date." - Amy McCarthy

There are two options. You can do the kabobs or hotpot. We wanted to try the hotpot but there were not enough tables for hotpot. The wait would have been way too long-So we opted for the kabobs. It was good. The chicken feet is served cold-it was good, but we couldn’t get past the fact that the claws on the chicken feet were not clipped. The best were the potato straws. So flavorful and crispy. The kabobs were good as well.

VERY AUTHENTIC! We had an amazing experience eating here. The food and staff were excellent. We went around 6pm and it wasn’t packed but we still received quality food in great time. I’ve never had authentic Chinese food until now and I’m hooked. The flavors burst at every corner. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions and we even enjoyed a laugh together. We tried a range of dishes for a great price. We had the spicy chicken noodle dish, lamb, chicken, beef, scallops, and pork belly skewers. On the side we had grilled corn, enoki mushrooms, and eggplant. 10/10 experience and we will be returning ❤️

I recently dined at Fat Ni, a Korean BBQ noodle house, and my experience was somewhat mixed. I tried the spicy chicken noodles, which were just okay. Unfortunately, most of the meat was dry, which detracted from the overall meal. While the flavors were decent, they didn't leave a lasting impression on me or my family. Perhaps Korean food just isn't for us. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, but the food didn't quite hit the mark for our taste.

I recommend getting the items on my receipt! Especially the Liang pi / 凉皮 (wheat starch noodles) if you can handle a little bit of spice!!

My boyfriend and I are regulars at Fat Ni BBQ, and we've always been greeted warmly by the ever-smiling owner. The staff is consistently friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it's hard to find a more cost-effective Chinese BBQ spot. The portions are generous, and every dish is packed with flavor. I highly recommend the large Shredded Potatoes—you won't regret it! The Edamame and Cabbage are must-tries, and the Enoki, Beef Tendon (delightfully chewy), Lamb Chops, Hibachi Squid, and the newly added Hot & Spicy Duck Neck and Head are all excellent. Overall, if you're looking to enjoy a great meal with friends and savor delicious Chinese BBQ, Fat Ni is the top choice in this area!

Google
This place has nice nostalgic decorations and friendly wait staffs. The food was very good and enjoyable. The cucumber salad was very garlicky and tasty. We ordered a lot of different skewers and they all tasted very good. The star of the show was the lamb ribs, which were fatty, tender and extremely flavorful. If you enjoy Chinese style skewers, I would highly recommend this place. I noticed that they were able to prepare whole grill lamb or grill lamb leg if you order a few days in advance, and I would really love to try that one day.

Google
Absolutely my favorite Chinese food. Best cold starch noodle in town-my must have every time I'm here. Love the lamb and beef. Their lamb soup is authentic. Reminds me of home. Great service too! Staff are always friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I want to point out that it is frustrating to order food from here. There is a language barrier and they don't listen. They still have a profile on chowbus and uber eats, I placed an order on chowbus and it went through. 20 mins later, I get a text that it's not made yet so I called and they said they don't take orders from chowbus anymore. I told them to take off their profile so people don't orders anymore. They then repeated and told me to call chowbus. I said can I place an order then since my order didn't go through? What did they tell me? Please call chowbus. So let me get this straight, can't order on chowbus, can't order over the phone bc you don't listen. How do you make money? Ok not coming back anymore. I went to maht gak instead

Yelp
Had seen this in my TikTok feed and was super excited to give it a try. We had a little bit of a lot. We tried the spicy chicken noodle stir fry, beef noodle, bread on skewer, beef skewer and chicken skewer. Felt the chicken skewers were well seasoned and came to the table hot right off the grill. The noodle was the best part of the two stir fry's. The food was good but I would not call it great. Don't get me wrong if I were I. The area I could stop in but I would not got out of my way for it. We also had the fried pita bread special stir fry. It was more like french fries than anything else.

Kimberly Y.

Yelp
Definitely come here for the skewers! The seasoning is different imo but I just loved it!! We tried so many types of skewers, and beef was my favorite! I was expecting a really flavorful beef noodle soup like Taiwan style, but it wasn't too bad! Their noodles are freshly made and hand pulled daily so the texture is amazing! Beers are super cheap and they are open late. Great spot for late night bites because of that!

Maya J.

Yelp
Came in and it was my first time. My friends raved about it. It was just ok. Everything tasted the same but just ok. Our server and the host sat at the table next to us and hung out and ate. I didn't want to disturb them while they ate but I hate my soup. It was beef soup but it was only tendons. As you can tell I left the whole bowl waiting on them to finish but when we finally told them (after they ate their food) but they said they couldn't take it off the tab because we waited to long? Whatever that means. Also we got charged for pork buns that we never received and the server and us had to argue with the host about it. Never going again but enjoyed the beer tower I guess. 36. Beef Noodle Soup Would give it 0 if I could! Very disappointed & my friends raved about this place actually told them they didn't care if they came back do better as a restaurant.

Yelp
I'm so happy Fat ni opened a location in Plano because it's only 10 minutes away from me! I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of Chinese skewers. Cumin lamb is by far my favorite, and Fat Ni does them so well. I also LOVE hand pulled noodles, and Fat ni's are delicious (make sure to add some sauce or chili flakes to enhance the taste). My friend and I accidentally left the restaurant without paying, and the worker/manager was really nice and understanding. Service is great, food comes out fast, and it's also a clean establishment. I highly recommend Fat Ni. Their food is delicious and also reasonably priced. They're also open very late, and I bet the food would taste even better as an after drinking or after clubbing meal.

Yelp
everything taste great! very recommend to everyone!中国胃绝对不能错过啊! BBQ tastes really traditional !the owner has this business more than 10 years in dallas!nice and clean restaurant!service sweet, make u feel like home!ber

Yelp
The meat is very fresh. And other food is delicious too! A very great experience. Customer service is awesome!

Yelp
Fatni has been a staple for us since they've come to DFW. The food is delicious and have great flavors. Northern Chinese style skewers with other noodle and appetizers. Our go to orders are the liang pi, shredded potatoes, lamb skewers, grilled cabbage, lamb noodle soup, and cumin lamb noodles. They make the noodles fresh by hand, so they come out very chewy and fresh. Skewers are grilled to order and come out hot and the meat is juicy. Liangpi is among the best I've had in DFW. It's the thin and wide style but the noodles are very silky and have great texture. Highly recommend coming here for authentic northern Chinese food.

Leonard L.

Yelp
Family and I came for a late night dinner. We actually were expecting more as the menu showed two skewers in the picture, but we only received one per order, which was a disappointment, but the flavor was good.

Yelp
I was craving skewers and this place popped up around the area I was at. Cute small little place. Staff is very friendly. Menu has a great variety and isn't too big. I ordered a little of everything that I thought my kids would eat. We got the hot dog, beef, chicken, chicken heart, lamb, lamb kidney, scallop, shrimp, squid, pork belly and the Chinese buns. Along with the spicy crawfish. Everything was fairly good. My kids weren't crazy about the spice that was on each skewer. I also found that the spicy skewers were not spicy at all. My kids loved the Chinese buns and crawfish. My personal favorites were the lamb, lamb kidney, chicken heart, and squid. The squid was honestly my favorite. Price to portion is fair here and the presentation is nice. My only complaint would be with the crawfish. It wasn't anything I was expecting spice wise. It had a lot of Chinese five spice and wasn't spicy at all. My kids liked it, it wasn't terrible but I was expecting spicy and it was anything but spicy. It was spice-ful! And I didn't realize till the end they have a sauce bar. That would've been nice to know from the get go. All in all I left full and some of the food was real tasty and the staff was super friendly.

Yelp
We went here because my wife wanted to eat here and try this place out. We expected the place to be a little bit bigger as the mana buffet is next door and much bigger. We ordered 1. Lamb 2. Beef 3. Chicken Gizzard 4. Chicken Wing 5. Scallop 6. Bacon Enoki Mushroom 7. Scallop 8. Squid 9. Stir Fried Beef 10. Wheat Starch Noodle 11. Potato 12. Lamb Kidney We found these all to be good. What I loved the most is the beef, it was nice and tender. Service was alright we got our food on time. There is a sauce bar as well, but it is not too special, just the siracha, vinegar and soy sauce. The food might not look too big, but it does fill you up and it is good. You can spend quite a bit of money just to try this and that. I would come back here again.

Alyssa H.

Yelp
Skewers were so delicious, and the spices they use for seasoning is addictive. My personal favorite skewer was the pork belly, and my boyfriend's was the beef. They have a neat sauce and seasoning station at the back as well. Service wasn't bad, and it was nice and homely inside. Highly recommend this place for some yummy meat skewers!

Bill L.

Yelp
Poor service food taste bad and got stomach aches after eating fatni bbq never come back

Ausanka D.

Yelp
It's an Asian bbq place. I had the shredded potatoes tasty and flavored the small Plates has big enough to share. The scallop sticker was good . You can also have some sauce to dips your meat. To have the full Expérience I suggested to come with friends that way you can share plates and taste different flavor.

Alan P.

Yelp
Was looking forward to eat here. Small place but seems like food is good. Got seated & waited for about 15-20 minutes. Literally no one came to our table. With that being said service is horrible. Avoid it if you want to eat at a decent time unless you have a patience of a saint.

Chesiree K.

Yelp
Came after a late night movie craving beef noodle soup! Did not disappoint. Delicious broth and friendly service, amazing portion for the price!

Raquel T.

Yelp
Celiac friendly. I've been to both locations (Carrollton + Plano) and both times the waiters were accommodating to my gluten allergy. Not everything on the menu is gluten-free, so be weary and double check with your waiter. The majority of the items I ate were the meats on the skewers and some greens.

Simone P.

Yelp
Love this place!! The noodles were amazing! Me and a few friends tried multiple skewers that were super yum too! Service was quick. I would definitely recommend!

Aval L.

Yelp
Good food. Don't want to write many comments but Yelp requires so I am writing something not meaningful

Zarina A.

Yelp
Food is tasty and service is pretty fast. They could improve on customer service. They don't seem to speak much English but can get by.

L N.

Yelp
My anticipation to try this place was high, but sadly, it fell short. All the skewers tasted the same, and many were overcooked. Also, felt a bit misled as the photos showed two skewers, but we only got one when we ordered. Maybe it was just an off night, but I hoped for a better experience.

Rosalee C.

Yelp
The lamb (5) is soooo good! My favorites are Chinese buns (22), chicken gizzard (10), and chicken bone meat (12). I also liked scallops (18) and enoki mushrooms (28). Eggplant (29) was a little too oily for me. Decent prices for delicious food. Service is quick and what you'd expect from an authentic Asian place. Can't wait to be back!

Lillian H.

Yelp
The time we visited the restaurant was almost empty and service was very, very slow. Food was okay but on the salty & dry side.

Silver B.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese restaurant in DFW, Real Chinese traditional skewers, ....... .......

Ben T.

Yelp
Excellent food and service all around. Excited to go back. Their grill is on point. Surprises all across the menu.

Bryan H.

Yelp
Tried a variety of skewers, the lamb noodle, stir fried pita, smashed cucumber, and chicken skin. Everything was delicious! Owner was super friendly!

Alvin T.

Yelp
Save your money. For a place that specializes in chinese skewers, this place is not good. We tried all of the meats including lamb and beef as well as some of the more exotic choices such as lamb kidney and chicken heart. 1. The meat quality is not good, pieces of meat were either straight up pieces of fat or extremely tough. 2. Portions are small and not what they are worth. Each skewer is around 2.25-4.50$ depending on what you get and the amount of meat they put on is too little for what it is worth. To top off this terrible experience, my waiter forgot to give me one of the skewers I ordered (lamb kidney) and proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and that she gave the skewer already. I laid out the skewers and counted each of them in front of her. She later gave us the skewer, but this is just poor accounting on her part. Overall, I would not recommend this place. Save your money and go to an Ayce or alternative skewer place. We literally had better chinese skewers at Crazy BBQ in Carrollton, a place that specializes in KBBQ. Do not go here, this is not worth the try.

Nikki V.

Yelp
I came to Fat Ni BBQ with a friend Monday night for dinner. It wasn't very busy at all and we were seated very quickly. Food -- We ordered a variety of vegetables and skewers! It was super affordable and made both us full. Plus, we still had some leftover for to go. We ordered: (Bowl) Wheat starch noodle (Top tray) Enoki mushroom Hibachi cabbage (Middle tray, left to right) Chinese bun Beef Lamb Pork belly (Bottom tray, left to right) Squid Scallop Taiwan sausage Fish tofu Beef tendon Honestly, everything we tried was very yummy, there wasn't one thing I disliked. They also have dipping sauces including: bbq, sesame, chili oil/house special Service -- It took a little while at the beginning for the order to come out, but once the first tray came out, everything else came out shortly after! Summary -- If you love grilled skewers, I highly recommend visiting Fat Ni BBQ. Great value and flavor! There's also a location in Carrollton!

Yelp
Now, I've been to this place a few times, but for some reason I found out I never made a review for some reason. Let me start by saying that the environment is clean and pretty normal, not much for extravagance, however, the service is absolutely fantastic. I asked for Chow Fun because they had something that looked it on the menu but wasn't quite it, and the server had it made special. I can't say I've gotten that service at very many places, ever, so based on that alone I give this place a 5/5. I had the Beef Chow Fun (not necessarily on the menu) and 10 Lamb Skewers. The Beef Chow Fun was absolutely amazing. The equivalent to this on the menu is the Buckwheat Rice Noodles. It was fried to perfection with just the right amount of spices. Not to mention loaded with Beef Tendon, which is a typically softer, more smooth texture compared with regular Beef. The Lamb Skewers are really the star of the show and why I come to this place. I travel the world, and in China, specifically Shanghai or Nanjing, you can get the most amazing lamb skewers, and these are the first skewers outside of China that I've had that taste as authentically similar as those. I've craved it so long, and could never find them in Chicago that tasted the same as the way they were supposed to, but this place has definitely nailed it.

Yuanyuan Z.

Yelp
Lamb leg grill is good. Lamb kidney is not as good as the lamb leg grilled. Good service.

Miranda D.

Yelp
This place was SO GOOD. We got the tofu, chicken, lamb, beef, mushrooms, broccoli, cabbage, and sweet rolls. Most of the menu is individual foods that you share as a group. The seasoning on everything was incredible. The tofu, cabbage and broccoli were definitely the standouts. Everything came out quickly and it was reasonably priced.

Nga N.

Yelp
Good place for late night, getting varieties of meat and veggies that are reasonable priced. The stable items to get the chives, eggplant, bread and beef skewers. In general, their seasoning is too strong of cumin for me. If you don't like cumin, this is not the place for you.

Nghi T.

Yelp
Hand dial noodle is a must have. Skewers are also delish However, services could use some improvement and the prices seem quite high for what we get. Not a deal breaker for me, but still a bit disappointing

Toni C.

Yelp
Excellent NYC experience in Dallas area. Highly recommend you stop in here if you live or visit the area

Yeh R.

Yelp
Always nice and have good atmosphere and open late, love the manager here. They also have these vip cards they give out occasionally if you go often :)

Paula C.

Yelp
I love love love this place. The food is always delicious. Everything is always perfectly spiced. I go to this location and the Carrollton location regularly. Their beef noodle soup is delicious. The fried tofu and grilled enoki mushrooms are great! I will definitely be coming back.

Thao T.

Yelp
We got the 50 oz beer that was 10 buckeroos and tons of different skewers. Omg so good! My favorite was the fish tofu. My sis and I want to come back already!

Mandy M.

Yelp
food and service are great here. I recommend lamb, beef, chicken bone meat, chicken skin, Taiwan sausage, bacon enoki mushroom, fish tofu, Chinese buns, eggplant and Hibachi glute. These are enough for 2-3 people and there not very spicy.

Alice Y.

Yelp
Wowowowow. First things first, the lamb skewer is a MUST when you come here. We originally just got 2 orders as a sampler but WOW did the flavour blow us away. The lamb was perfectly cooked, slightly crispy on the outside, the fat bursting with juice on the inside, and the cumin flavour seeped throughout the meat. Amazing. We had to grab another 2 at the end of our meal. The rest of the food were all pretty good. Definitely get the 凉皮 too. The noodles are perfectly al dente and the flavour sublime. I was scooping the bottom of my bowl for any last piece of food there is!

Meli O.

Yelp
The food is always amazing, staff is prompt and unbelievably friendly. This location is a good drive away from us but definitely worth the journey. Highly recommend.

Julie Z.

Yelp
Coming from Austin where this type of restaurant does not exist, I was pretty excited to try this place. The skewers menu was extensive and you can choose either spicy or not spicy which will come on separate trays. There's also quite a few choices of non-skewer dishes like lamb stew, cold noodles, etc. if you want a bit more variety. The food came out quickly and service was good. I wasn't blown away by the flavor, but definitely fulfilled my craving!

Lawrence Y.

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing service! Great smell and good scenery in restaurant. I would recommend to any Chinese food lovers.

Joe L.

Yelp
We came there on a late Friday night and this place had one table and the service was awful. We order a lot of varieties of food and everything taste the same because they used the same freaking seasoning on all there dishes. If you like Cummins dishes..this is the place for you.

Sunny L.

Yelp
They hassle you for parking in front of their establishment if you aren't dining there. I was planning to dine next door. They came running out to ask me to move my car. There are no signs delineating parking spots. Food here is ok but any future prospect of supporting this establishment is now gone after this interaction.

Steve A.

Yelp
This place was awesome! We went nuts and ordered over 20 skewers at a very reasonable price. We had beef, lamb, scallops, beef tendon, Taiwan sausages, enoki mushrooms wrapped in bacon, chicken gizzards, chicken hearts, shrimp, and squid. Service was quick and friendly and food arrives very fast after ordering. Great flavors on everything and small sauce & spice bar made it even better. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. It was terrific!

Anya B.

Yelp
most amazing food and you have to request vicky shes the absolute best and makes every trip worth it

TTrraaccYY H.

Yelp
as an Californian from the Bay Area! I've had way better bbqs! In fact I've had bbq in frisco years back and I thought it was great! Friends invited us to try this new place and holy cow it's the worse bbq I've ever had! It's obvious that all their bbq have been fried, let dried then bbq. I own a Japanese yakitori bar if it's charcoal grilled from raw the meat wouldn't look like this. We ordered no less than 50 skewers and they are Able to bring it out almost all at the same time within 15min of ordering. The server said it's bbq from beginning, and obviously I know it's not. But anyways. Talk about the taste, it's lack of flavoring! Needs more spices. Overall our parties of 10 all agreed we won't be back again.

Mr. M.

Yelp
Salty, spicy, very diverse menu. . It's influenced by Xinjiang (western Chinese Turkic Muslim) cuisine so expect a lot of cumin and lamb. They also have wonderful noodle dishes and soups. I miss the old place that was here before, it seemed the quality was a bit better, more 5 star. but this place will work in a pinch. It's good drunk people food, just order it to go or drink before you get here because the prices are a bit exorbitant for booze
