Mabel Gray is designing a European-style wine cave; Fatima’s Grill is relocating out of Dearborn | Eater Detroit

"After making its Michigan debut in Dearborn in fall 2023, Los Angeles County Lebanese–Mexican sensation Fatima’s Grill is gearing up to relocate and will reopen in February at 27430 5 Mile Road in Livonia; ownership said the Dearborn location did not work out. Known for its Instagram-worthy Mexican–Lebanese fusion, the all-halal eatery is famed for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-laced asada fries, halal shawarma platters, and birria crunchwraps. Since opening in 2016 in Downey the brand has expanded to franchises in Ditmas Park (Brooklyn) and Denton, Texas, with a location expected soon in Cleveland, and owner Ali Elreda—born in Detroit, raised in Los Angeles—has said he wants to expand into southeast Michigan in part to appeal to the sizable Muslim community that seeks halal food. Elreda developed a hot sauce recipe during his 2012 incarceration that became the Lebamex bottled hot sauce (available online and at Super Greenland Market and Hashems Roastery & Meat Market) after completing a six-year sentence in 2013." - Serena Maria Daniels

Los Angeles’s Wildly Popular Lebanese Mexican Restaurant Fatima’s Grill Is Opening in Dearborn | Eater Detroit

"One of Los Angeles County’s busiest restaurants with Lebanese-Mexican roots, this wildly popular chain is known for outrageous, colorful creations like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-laced asada fries, halal shawarma platters, and birria crunchwraps. I report that founder Ali Elreda — who was born in Detroit and named the business after his daughter — started out with a halal meat market around 2014 in Bell with a small hot-food section, opened the first standalone spot in 2016 in Downey, and used Snapchat and Instagram to build a loyal following; today there are franchise locations in Montebello, Paramount, and Long Beach with planned outposts in downtown LA, Brooklyn, and Dearborn. I note the Dearborn expansion (address confirmed at 14600 Warren Ave.) makes sense given metro Detroit’s high demand for original, all-halal menus; Elreda says an opening date hasn’t been set but he’s hopeful to move quickly through health department approvals and emphasizes the need for more halal dining diversity given his family’s Muslim background." - Serena Maria Daniels

Friendly / helpful staff and delicious food! Guy behind the counter even helped bring an older gentleman’s food out to his car. So far I’ve had the tacos and now the mix shawarma / cheese fries. Food is really really good. Can’t wait to try more menu items.

I really wanted to love Fatima's Grill, but my recent experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered the shawarma salad with both steak and chicken, and sadly, the steak was tough, chewy, and hard to get down. The chicken had decent flavor, which was a small plus. However, the salad itself was absolutely drenched in oil and had a bitter taste. I was expecting a vibrant fattoush-style dressing, but this was just oil with something really off-putting and bitter. I also tried the birria taquitos, and they were unfortunately burned, dry, and bitter. It felt like almost $30 down the drain, which is a real shame. I'm honestly a bit hesitant to try them again after this meal. I truly wish Fatima's Grill all the success in the world; I believe they have potential, but this particular meal was a rough one.

I bought a chicken burrito here not too long ago very good no complaints. Got a crunch wrap with chicken and added shrimp the shrimp weren't cooked properly I had to take the rest of the shrimp out once I did that it was fine.

I drove 26 minutes to get here and I was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, i got genuine smiles. Amazing service, perfect atmosphere and food to die for. My friend and I got a hot cheeto chicken burrito and steak and shrimp fries. That was enough food for the both of us. Best experience and flavor. See you guys soon!!!

Absolutely loved everything about this!! I decided to go after seeing this place on instagram and cannot be more happy that I did! The gentleman behind the counter was so nice, and the food was just amazing. 100/10 recommend in a heartbeat.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open up in MI for YEARS since I first saw the cali location on insta and it did NOT disappoint! I got the surf/turf burrito with hot cheeto dust and my bf got a chicken crunchwrap & we got a bottle of Lebamex 🔥🔥🔥 The hot sauce was amazing ive never had anything like it & im taking it with me to thanksgiving 🤣 there were so many flavors and everything is made fresh to order as always advertised! I just had it 2 days ago & I’m going back today because it is just that good. The only issue with this place is im not rich enough to get everything & my stomach isn’t big enough to hold all of it! This location was previously in Dearborn but they were run out of town by some hateful people and another shop in Cali I believe was vandalized. These are some sweet people that care abt our community and serving good food. Please show them some love & respect & show them why they got it right to stay in MI! 🙏🏽❤️

Ate here for the first time. My son was ordering food from here so we all decided to try it. The food was good. My complaint and reason for the 2 star is, 1, it is inside of a gas station, 2, I used my credit card to pay for the food and it was hacked!!! The very next day someone tried to use it. BEWARE!!! TAKE CASH!!!

Ordering online was simple and quick. There was communication so I knew my order was received and when it was ready. The food was delicious, that red sauce and green sauce are both amazing. We ordered the Barria Quesadilla Pizza and it was delicious. We will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Halal Lebanese-Mexican fusion restaurant located in a gas station. Very Casual ambience but the food is fire! We got the crunch chicken shawrma and the triple threat with birria instead of shrimp. Presentation of the food was great. Portions of sandwich are appropriate for price you're paying. Taste of the Birria meat was amazing. Highly recommend. definitely a place whose menu I want explore further. Service was friendly.

Yelp
It's an eatery in a gas station, serving Mexican food to go, or they have a small seating area. I tried the steak-shrimp- fries and it was excellent. The crunchy burro was first rate. The service was friendly and professional. Food is made to order and it's fresh. Give this eatery a try! It's very good Mexican food.

Yelp
Doordashed this and it's just perfect.Looking at the menu was so overwhelming because there's so much I wanted to try although most food looked really heavy and filling like the hot Cheetos burger which I'll definitely have to try after this . As someone who has moved back home after living in New York and was eating really good food, the taste of this actually impressed me. They gave me a good amount of consome, avocado salsa, and sour cream too. I will definitely try more items from here

Yelp
The meat was so hard and dry I couldn't even chew it. There was barely any sauce and the food was overall not good. Terrible
