The Best Middle Eastern Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Fatma’s Cozy Corner in Treme opened in 2017, a purveyor of savory baked goods, tasty hummus, and fatoush salad with feta and red onion, parsley, and cucumbers. There are gyro and falafel sandwiches on pita, along with American breakfast options and paninis." - Beth D’Addono

Google
This place is amazing! If you're looking for somewhere to eat delicious food and drink wonderful coffee that comes with the best service and complimentary friendly smiles, than this is the place! We had the breakfast sandwich with sausage and spinach and a 4 shot cortado, the tuna sandwich and with ice tea and the Mediterranean plate with Turkish coffee. Everything was superb! It's worth the walk, the drive, the bus ride!

Google
The highlight of my time in New Orleans. Great cafe in the historic Treme neighborhood. At last, a good coffee (long black). The menu looks great, but at this time I settled for a fabulous slice of cherry pie. Charming welcome, and great table service. Nice crowd too. Soft jazz playing. I could not recommend more highly 😀

Google
This was a cute little spot. The feel was homely and welcoming. There is a good variety a little up there in price but as expected. I had a salami panini, and mint green tea. My friends had the eggs and toast with iced coffee. It was satisfying. We both agree the drinks were a shock to the palette but nothing some sugar did not fix. I am not a pepper person, but my friend thought this was the best pepper she had so far.

Google
Was so good we had to come back two days in a row for breakfast! It was such an inviting and cozy atmosphere, we immediately felt welcomed in. If you visit, you HAVE to try the cheese danishes- I've never had anything so delicious! The crust was so flaky and buttery and the cheese was sweet and smooth. I definitely recommend this place!! (Also bonus points for the cute cat)

Google
I love spending time at Fatma's Cozy Corner! They have great coffee and a happy atmosphere. It's a great place to meet with friends or get some work done. I've most recently tried their falafel sandwich and it was delicious. Would highly recommend!

Google
I am back at this place again and again now just to try the famous turkish coffee before i leave the town. Of course exceeded expecatations. Earlier review was for tge food. Now everything together. Food, coffee, interior, exterior, staff, the cat, exterior…. Truly in love with this place.

Google
Fatima Cozy Corner makes you feel welcomed and true to its name keeps you comforted while you sip your coffee and have some brunch. I was greeted by Cozy the cat at the entrance. This place gives a middle eastern Turkish vibe. The patrons are quite courteous and recommend you options to try out. I tried their Homemade Biscuit with Egg, Sausage and Cheese. It came along with an accompaniment of cut fruits. The best biscuit I have had in my entire stay at New Orleans. The Cappuccino was also quite good. This place is located in the by-lanes of New Orleans and is a must try. It’s better than any of your Starbucks. Do give it a try and support local businesses!!

Google
This cafe is super cozy. Their biscuits are sooo yummy, the music is nice, art and decor is unique. I will have to come back and try some of the pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
They have a delicious breakfast biscuit sandwich here! The vibe is super cozy with a cat sleeping next to a grandma who is knitting near the entrance! Solid iced coffee and hot coffee as well.

Yelp
The cutest corner breakfast spot with the best hospitality and the most yumlicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee! If you haven't stopped in you're missing out.

Yelp
The Mayor was having breakfast here the first time I ever went and so I sat in the main dining room just listening to the conversations being had with no one else in the room. That made it feel like I found a hidden gem all in itself! Service is ALWAYS impeccable. The coziness of this place is so inviting and feels like home. Coffee here is strong, desserts are rich and the food is prepared and served with attention. It is a little bit on the pricey side in my opinion but it's a small business and I'm pretty sure it's owned and operated by immigrant women. I'd rather pay for overpriced anything here supporting that movement over a giant mega-corp who breaks their employees backs any way.

Yelp
A lively atmosphere, an adorable, friendly cat, & tasty coffee makes this shop a delight.

Yelp
Fatma's Cozy Corner, a great place serving light bites, loose leaf tea, and various coffee specialties. My favorite is the Turkish coffee, not in the traditional menus but if you know you know. All love, Fatima' Thanks Cozy, look forward to seeing you again!

Yelp
This delightful cozy corner was open and busy late Easter morning. Very pleasant with the windows open and overlooking blooming rose bushes Had the most delicious gyro sandwich and ginger lemon ice tea. Fatma and staff are warm and welcoming. It's not a place to go if you are in a hurry but definitely worth the wait.
google avatar

Yelp
This breakfast sandwich was out of this world!!! The staff was wonderful. We were running late for a tour and they hauled butt to make our food for us even though it was very busy. Highly recommend. I can't stop thinking about the breakfast sandwich!!
google avatar

Yelp
Cozy, cute little place! I felt like I was at home and could just sit there on a nice chilly day and warm up. The Turkish coffee was good, it was our first time trying it. The owner also gave us 1 Turkish delight to eat with the coffee, which was a nice touch. It was my first time having Turkish delight. I've always wondered what it tastes like since Edmund was so willing to give up his siblings and Mr. Tumnus for an endless amount. It wasn't worth giving up my family but it was a nice treat. The cheese danish was good, but tasted commercialized, like from Costco. I was expecting something homemade...it was still good though! Her baklava was very good! That was clearly homemade and much appreciated. The papaya jam we bought from her was so delicious! Make sure buy jam from her. Such a cozy place, will return!

Yelp
This is a cozy (literally, no pun intended) little shop that serves sandwiches, croissants, muffins, tea, coffee. This spot was steps away from our air bnb, so we came here a few times. I liked the two eggs breakfast, which came with a smoky tomato sauce and toast. We also had a couple breakfast sandwiches. My husband and I both had the egg, tomato, spinach, and cheese. The sandwiches were filling, but heavy on the oil. My husband and friend had the regular coffee, and really enjoyed it. I had the plain chai and found it to be watery and flavorless. They also serve lunch sandwiches, like ham or Turkey and cheese. They serve sweets like cakes and baklava, which was flaky and delicious. The staff is super nice, though service is a little slow, and the space has a laid back vibe perfect for a lazy morning.

Yelp
Out of the way and down a little rough street. There is street parking at least. It's on the corner of Ursuline and Robertson. They do charge 3.8% for using a card, which you find out after your card is run through, always punishing plastic card users. Cozy and weathered spot. Converted old house. We ordered the Turkey, cheese, egg and tomato breakfast sandwiches on croissant (comes typically on a biscuit), fattoush salad; oat milk latte and a green hot tea. $45.83. Skip the green tea, doesn't taste very deep in green tea flavors after steeping a while now. Oddly tasted like Lipton tea. Drinks were out quickly. The food takes a bit longer, expect about 25 minutes or more. The oat milk latte is fine, tastes as expected. The first breakfast sandwich came out on biscuits. The staff had to take them back and put them onto croissants. The fattoush salad is good, comes with olives, peppers, feta and parsley too. The salad is quite good. The croissant Turkey breakfast sandwich is tasty. The croissant is buttery. Service is warm, food is good. Not liking the credit card charge much though.

Yelp
Don't have words to describe how awesome this restaurant is! The "homemade" rose Jan was incredible! The homemade baklava, especially the chocolate baklava was the best we've ever had! The service was amazing and the restaurant was beautiful and clean! Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Yelp
This was such an easy walk from where we stayed - the ambience was cozy, like walking into a loved family's home. Absolutely loved the tea selections and breakfast was fantastic - we had the Mediterranean & the two egg breakfast (in tomato sauce). Also had mint green tea and Turkish coffee - such a fresh experience!

Nic C.

Yelp
Great ambiance, sidewalk seating, all the homemade food is amazing. Truly a family joint. Plus there's a cafe cat! The pistachio cake is a *must* when it's available. The service is as warm as anywhere I've ever been. These ladies are are true gems.

Yelp
This is a cute little cafe just north of the main French Quarter area. The staff is super friendly and the area is quite to enjoy a coffee or tea and a quick, small bite to eat. They are family owned and there is one cool who is making everything on a regular stove so do not expect fast service if they are busy. The food is decent, but nothing super amazing. The vibe and ambiance mixed with the super nice staff make it a nice stop to support a local business. I am staying at an AirBnB about 5 minutes away so it was on my walk home. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, cheese, and a tomato. Food was 2-3/5 but I gave it 4 starts because of the people and cute cafe.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
Cozy and tucked away, it was so nice to be out of the French Quarter and enjoy the best coffee. Had a very good bagel and lox fresh tomato, onions, and, cappers with Cream Cheses on the plate with some very good spices and fresh lemon. There was just street parking so beware it might not be easy to park. Next time I am in NOLA I am going back!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Not open on Sunday tho website said it was. We walked there in 111 degrees to find out they are closed.

Marcia F.

Yelp
I loved everything about visiting Fatma's Cozy Corner everyday of our vacation! Not only the best coffee but great food and pastries. Warm and comfortable atmosphere. Thank you to our very special Turkish Lady Friends for making each day start with smiles! You're the best!!!!
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
Husband and I came here three days in a row for breakfast and we looked forward to our coffee here! This place is cozy and homely! Love their egg biscuits, coffees and fresh fruit servings! Everyone here is super friendly and welcoming! Almost became friends with their cat -Cozy!! This place is super pet friendly!

Matthias L.

Yelp
Just as the name states, very cozy and excellent breakfast. Very efficient and friendly staff.

Yelp
This place has wonderful Mediterranean breakfast and lunch foods. Very cozy spot. The cheeses with the Mediterranean breakfast were amazing.
google avatar

Rishbha J.

Yelp
Cute and cozy coffee shop! I stopped by here because it was close to my airbnb. Great service and good coffee. Check it out if in the area.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect. Great breakfast, wonderful cozy feeling. Thank you! Highly recommended if you're in the neighborhood and want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby quarter.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
This is a cafe run by Turkish people, not a Turkish cafe. There are Turkish items on the menu, but it's not the focus. The decor is super cute. Sort of modern New Orleans/Treme artistic. The resident cat is a plus. The food is simply OK. I had a falafel sandwich and baklava. It was fine, but I've had better. Also, no alcohol. Bizarre in this town. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, especially with the great choices in NOLA.
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
I'm staying around the corner from this cozy gem of a place. The ambiance is charming and eclectic with a house cat appropriately named Cozy. The sweet owners of the restaurant are warm and inviting. The food and coffee are also top notch. I tried the two egg breakfast and the Mediterranean breakfast this is a must stop.
google avatar

Tamalyn D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite go to places in NOLA. Cozy and tucked away in a residential area. It is a vintage house, decorated home style, family run, with both Turkish and American goodies on the menu.
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
We stayed in the neighborhood (which I highly recommend) just around the corner on Gov Nicholls street. This place was the icing on the cake, so to speak, to our stay. I enjoyed the food there as much, if not more, than what I ate in the French Quarter. Prices were more than reasonable. Cozy is the perfect word for it. There was indoor and outdoor seating and pet friendly. The staff was friendly as were the locals who dropped in for a meal. Service was fast and the food was plated beautifully. Will stop there again whether I'm staying in the neighborhood or not. Highly recommend. Don't miss it

Paul M.

Yelp
What a fabulous place. Historic. Quaint. And fabulous food and coffee. If you're nearby it's a must stop.

Danielle A.

Yelp
You just couldn't ask for a cozier coffee/brunch ambiance. I keep going back for the chicken salad sandwich and coffee. They sell homemade extras like rose liquor, honey, and jams. Happy to be a regular here, it's a highlight of the week
google avatar

Camly T.

Yelp
Fatma's Cozy Corner was in fact very cozy. Very much felt like a neighborhood spot buzzing with locals and nice folks. The iced tea and breakfast sandwich was perfect. I liked the shady trees by the outside tables.

S M.

Yelp
When my husband and I were planning this trip to New Orleans, the first thing I said was "We have to go back to Fatma's Cozy Corner at least once." We came here for breakfast before heading home and it was just a phenomenal as it was when we first came years ago. The drinks and food were incredible, the atmosphere truly is cozy and welcoming, and everyone working there was the best. I tried the Mediterranean platter with a chai latte and it was the perfect way to start the day. I was so excited to eat here again that I completely forgot to take photos. This is a New Orleans gem!
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
This is my go to breakfast spot. The very best biscuits in the whole dang world (the breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage, cheese on their biscuit is to die for), the women who run this place know their shit and are beyond lovely which makes the service perfect, and the ambiance lives up to its name, it's cozy as hell.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
An unexpected hidden gem in a  residential neighborhood. The decor is very charming, homey and they are very clean (huge plus). We tried lentil soup, eggs and tea; all were delicious. Their little cat, Cozy, sits on her own couch & is very calm and sweet and gets spoiled with petting from adoring customers.  This is a very relaxing and nice place to both eat & hang out, with many windows & good air flow. There are also a few tables available outside.
google avatar

Brien S.

Yelp
Great food. A little of the beaten path. Quirky but excellent service and atmosphere.
google avatar

Lorenzo J.

Yelp
The place is quaint and lovely.. but I may have come at a bad time.. my food took an hour... the lady was nice enough when she finally brought it, and it tasted great... I couldn't enjoy it as much because I was late to my appointment.

Kent S.

Yelp
Nice little neighborhood breakfast spot. Good selection of coffee and tea as well as breakfast sandwiches
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
I wish I could become a regular here! It is an extremely cozy and delicious café--we had the breakfast sandwich, two egg breakfast, and chocolate cake, and all were delicious. I had high expectations because of the five stars on Yelp, but this place still blew me away!
google avatar

Jeremy T.

Yelp
I'm in love with it here - yes I am sitting here right now and felt compelled to write a review. I recently moved to town and I've struggled to find healthy food. The struggle is real. Fatma's is a place where you can eat a light, healthy breakfast and sip an Americano in the midst of welcoming, genuine service and delightful ambience. The Mediterranean breakfast is a cheese lover's dream. The halva makes a divine finishing touch. The spinach breakfast sandwich may be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. As I type this review, a patron has taken to the piano and is serenading the few people here. I really love Fatma's. You will too.
google avatar

Cletus V.

Yelp
Nice little coffee shop, super friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. They have a cat and it's a very homely feel. Very casual vibe.
google avatar

Janessa H.

Yelp
Quaint gem! The staff is super friendly and the interior is nicely decorated with plenty of seating (7+ tables) Even a piano if you know how to play. I ordered the chai latte with soy and you can tell they make the chai fresh, not from concentrate. Mildly spicy and lightly sweetened, creamy I also got the breakfast sandwich which had eggs, sausage, tomato, and cheese, on a croissant. Amazing! so flavorful and hit the spot. Plus they add a nice little watermelon wedge. Seems like a locals joint, come here if you're staying nearby!
google avatar

Cecile Y.

Yelp
Came to work remotely. Lots of space in an eclectic environment that is both airy and cozy. Had Turkish coffee & a mediterranean plate which was a great working breakfast!

Samantha F.

Yelp
Love this place! A hidden gem in New Orleans. Out of the way, but worth the trip. Food was good, great ambiance.
google avatar

Todd N.

Yelp
Formerly Ruth's, Fatima's has old school jazz, perfect java, fresh made to order breakfast sandwiches, and a house at. Love the small Treme house vibe.
google avatar

Chadrick J.

Yelp
Doling out five stars off the bat. We came here looking for breakfast off the beaten path of the bustling city itself, where long lines and all the pomp and circumstance get in the way. We landed here at Fatma's Cozy Corner, a Treme neighborhood joint. It's a spot that is one part oddly quirky but distinctly peaceful. It's also come to me to realize this is a solid joint to get the goods. Fatma's felt like home, which is where the cozy in the name comes in. I ordered what I will deem one of the best breakfast biscuits sandwiches I've ever had. The biscuit was perfection and it came out so warm and delectable I could've eaten two. Wife had the same thing and she was beyond pleased. Along with that, Fatma's also has a bunch of other baked goods. I sampled a couple which would include the baklava and a damn good pecan pie. Couldn't of been happier with my selections. Fatma's is about as local as it gets and it shows in the service and quality of the goods we bought. I'd come back in a heartbeat to this cozy corner anytime!
google avatar

Alia S.

Yelp
This spot is the embodiment of home. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is full of love and community. Cozy the cat brings that something extra with her sweet temperament. I truly don't have the words to express how great this place is. 10/10
google avatar

Can T.

Yelp
She is so nice and foods are very delicious I will definitely revisit when I come back
google avatar

Siobhan O.

Yelp
Friendly people with amazing food. The Los bagel is wonderful with Mediterranean marinated purple onions. Best cherry pie I've EVER had!
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
I always order the Mediterranean Breakfast Platter - it's like the bento box of Mediterranean food - you got an egg (cooked your way), toast, a few different types of cheeses (including a fried cheese), usually some sort of fruit from her garden that she has glazed, or jam from the rose bushes from her garden, some halvah, cucumbers and tomatoes drizzled with herbs and olive oil - amazing! Espresso and Turkish coffee are fantastic. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious. They have gluten-free bread and decaf espresso, too. Plenty of outdoor tables, too. My only concern is that the last two times I was there an older man was inside without a mask on - it may be that he has "health issues" so he can't wear one (which has been debunked, by the way), but that doesn't help those of us who are trying to stay safe and follow the rules. Next time I'll peek in and if he is there without a mask I will call and order over the phone and have the bring it out to me.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Truly a cozy space with delicious food & coffee, locally owned, with charming service. The borek is amazing!
google avatar

Holly W.

Yelp
Excellent middle eastern food, huge portions and very fresh. Had red beans that were very savory and flavorful. Chicken sandwich packed with chicken. Fattoush salad very fresh and seasoned well. Nice people work here. Sit inside or out. Nice selection of coffee and teas. And saw actor James Franco eating here in Mardi Gras day!
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
This dinky little corner cafe is a hidden gem in NOLA's Treme neighborhood, northwestish of the French Quarter. We stayed at the Treme Mansion and was delighted to find this place (and 'Lil Dizzy's) an easy block and a half away... Quite a relief after hoofing miles through the Quarter for days. It's got an open-air feeling with the opened-shutter windows, cozy sidewalk seating, and an interesting history if you care to google. Let's just say this cozy corner has been a kept corner for a few different proprietors, and the remnants of such infidelity linger in the 50 year old peeling paint that once advertised the 45 Dixie beers sold by the original Ruth. The menu is Turkish inspired, offering the Mediterranean breakfast of cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, egg, and cheese (What?? Americans don't eat that for breakfast!), along with a couple egg dishes, breakfast sandwiches, and paninis. They also have a pastry case brimming with savory boreks, muffins, and sweet treats. They offer a full service coffee bar, complete with cold brew iced coffee, which, alas and alack, they'd already run out of by 9:30 am. I had the spinach/cheese/egg breakfast sandwich, which was wonderfully situated atop a phenomenal hommade bisquit (true menu-board spelling, bless their hearts). The cooked spinach that usually repulses me on a sandwich (I much prefer fresh leaves) didn't taste like the frozen stuff that I hate. I honestly think Fatma cooked fresh spinach... and it was awesome. I also got the veggie borek (wonderful) and the veggie muffin (awesome concept!) to take back to the room for later. They were savory unlike the zucchini bread of my heritage, and I very much enjoyed them for lunch. Hubby had the Turkey panini, which was so good that, as God is my witness, it resurrected the lighthearted disposition that had been crucified by the errant computer system mixup, which brought his meal out a good 15 or 20 minutes after mine. I thought the day was done until I saw the sparkle in the eye behind his aloof facade as he gobbled. Fatma and cashier girl, you're doing a great job 11 days after opening this new location... Sooooo close to a five-star. But here's some tips: 1. The wait at the counter due to having one cashier who also works as barista is pretty tiresome. Anyone who has somewhere to be will go elsewhere. 2. A water station would be awesome! Throw a couple cucumber slices in there (I know you have em) and you're instantly two rungs higher-society. Just a suggestion. 3. Thanks for not charging me for the muffin, but don't do that computer system mixup thing again. It almost killed the mood. 4. For crying out loud, MAKE MORE COLD BREW! running out at 9:30 on a Monday morning?? That's just really bad market projection.
