On my home on Friday from work and had intended to stop at a local pizzeria, but saw Fattoush and stopped in. Smelled great. I ordered food to take out and chatted with the owner about Aleppo, Armenia, the chef from Beirut. Gorgeous, clean, fantastic food. We had: falafel (my son loved it), tzatsziki that was just a gorgeous yogurt base, chicken kebeb, jalapeno hummus, and my husband and son flipped over the baklava. Healthy food, elegant, simple. Made us think about the Persian place in Arlington called Sabzi (this place was not Persian but there is some crossover shared palette) bc it felt like home-cooking, simple, unfussy, but quality. I don't know why I feel compelled to add that nothing was greasy, but I guess that's so often my experience with take-out (or honestly often dine-in). I was curious about the sausage and the chef made me a complimentary mini wrap. Again, not fancy but high quality simple. Some kind of spice in the sausage that was a combo of a tomato paste and pepper with a bit of a kick. It was more expensive than I'd expected, but post- (ish) Covid, inflation, sluggish restaurant returns, it should not be surprising that the restaurants are struggling at razor thin margins. It feels great to support thoughtful local food.
