Nice brewery with good beer, laid back vibe and friendly staff. Good place to go to simply relax and enjoy as my wife and I did on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We tried 4 brews, lazy hazy IPA. Italian brew, Mexican lager and a seasonal ST Paddy day stout. All good

The atmosphere is relaxing.... Great music and simple surroundings. The brewery is right next to the tap room. If you are looking for IPAs, lighter beers or sours.... Stop here. I highly recommend the Pizza Pils... Friendly staff also... But be mindful the parking is very limited, but make a stop its worth it.

First time in Charleston and doing a brewery tour. This place wasn’t on our list initially but we passed it and was drawn to it so fast. It’s a low key brewery with great beers. It’s a bit grungy which we love in a brewery. Kyle gave us beer samples and recommendations for other things to do while in Charleston. As a tourist, we felt like it was a place locals go to. Highly recommend!!

Been coming here for a few years now. The vibe is fantastic and very easy going. The owner enjoys making beer and having company . You actually sit right in the brewery! It can be quiet and it can be packed, but it is always a great time!!!

After finding out that Fatty's was located in Charleston, my wife and I decided to end our 1+year search for a special beer "Cotton Candy IPA". Although we did not find this beer, for the brief stop we made, the venue is spacious, open, and fun. Parking is available on the street behind the warehouse, (*at least that's where we were able to park). With Fatty's being one of our favorite breweries we will certainly be back to explore further. *Still searching for the Cotton Candy IPA...

Lucky for us- they just started to open at 12p on Friday so we were able to stop in and grab a brew. Bar manager was fantastic and gave us plenty of suggestions. We had a great time and will definitely stop again next time we are in town!

Visiting Charleston and stopped in for the first time today with my wife. Great staff, cool vibe, and the Lazy Hazy is fantastic! She likes the Suburban Sensei!

Tzar wars is where it’s at!!! And don’t miss out on the Oyster Stout! A trip to the Lowcountry is wasted without a pint of this chilled draft in your hand. The peak of Southern Hospitality has been reached- nay- surpassed here at Fatty’s Beer Works.

I am not much of a beer drinker but I went with my husband who loves breweries and he said they served him kinda warm beer so... The had NA options there of CBD Sodas There is outdoor and indoor seating available and a game room too. There is a free trolley bus that take you to brewery downtown that we saw coming and going too

Can't tell you how the drinks are - after standing at the bar for over ten minutes waiting for the bartender to take my order (after watching her watch me enter and then stand at the bar with cash in my hand), I decided that even though it's St. Patrick's Day weekend, my money must be the only thing that wasn't green (unlike the teeth of the two guys to my left) so I headed for the exit. I specifically came to try a smash burger and figured I'd pair it with a James Blond, but after being ignored like soap in Seattle, I opted for a bottle of overpriced water from the Smash City Burgers food truck to pair with my triple. Smash City 1, Fatty 0.

Fatty's is just to the north of town, almost across the street from Munkle and very close to Tradesman, Edmunds Oast, and Lo Fi. Fatty's stands out with it's fantastic selection of IPAs (their speciality) and some others. There is a small indoor seating area and a spread of picnic tables outdoors. Live music and food trucks are often available but neither was there the day we went. We had a sampling of their beers: Fatty's Lazy Hazy IPA: One of my new favorites! I would put this up against Bell's Two Hearted Ale any day of the week. A great hazy IPA with nice hints of citrus both on the front and follow through but not heavy in body. Photon Blonde Ale: nice medium bodied ale. IT was good but the Hazy IPA blew me away It's not a large brewery so not all of their beers are available. The website does list what they are pouring. Definitely give Fatty's a visit.

Fatty's Beer Works in Charleston is a great place to go for quality drinks in a cool relaxed atmosphere. I really like their selection and everything that they have available here.

Nice spot right out of downtown with the bar right in the brewery as you'd expect. Friendly bartender and live music in their small outdoor space. I tried the First Shot IPA and the About Time Pale Ale on this visit and enjoyed them both. Snap a pic when you go, tag them on Instagram, and you get $1 off your pint. Not bad for minimal effort on your part. Fatty's is on my way home from work, so I'll probably be back a lot more as I'm interested in trying several more of their offerings.

Random placement, but good vibe. The brewery was in a little bit or an odd place to get to but once we got there it was very laid back. They have cbd seltzer on tap so perhaps that's why everyone is so chill. The people I was with like the beer, but no show stoppers or anything. Cool place to grab a drink if you are just wanting something low key though. Very dog friendly as there were many running around.

The service here is excellent! Their wide selection of brews are all tasty and there are even seltzers and cbd infused seltzers to try. All the servers are great, especially the woman who works Friday afternoons. If you get stuck by the train stop in for a beer! The vibe is excellent and it's a true brewery and tasting room!

Luckily there are two better breweries within a blocks distance to keep patronage alive. Most space is outdoors and there was a food truck and band present. Easily found and adjacent to Edmund's Oast and Munkle. Beer is forgettable, but to their credit not the worst compared to a majority of the Charleston breweries. At the cusp of locality adequacy.

So we did a mini self-guided Chucktown brewery tour/crawl...13 breweries in 3 days. Charles Towne Fermentory on the west side of the city was my favorite if you were wondering at all, but that's likely because they're geared more toward what I like (New England style unfiltered murky IPA's). Saying this, I did really like the beers here and I'll be looking for them at taprooms and bev centers for sure. I really enjoyed their Collaboration #3, which they have available in cans (see my pic) in house and you can find it at various retailers as well. This place is all about the beer, not the frills. It ain't no yuppie prep hangout. Head over to Edmunds Oast if that's your thing. They don't really do food, but they do have some nice seating at which to lounge. You're basically drinking right there in their brew works, so you know and they don't have a.c. It could get hot as a mofo in here during the day, so be aware of that. They no longer have space for live music as they've added some new brew tankage. Again, they are all about their beer. Their Fatty's head recipe master, Ben, is a really cool dude from Providence originally, but he's been all over, most recently at Sweetwater down in Georgia. We greatly enjoyed talking beer and other things with him when we visited on a Monday night after already visiting like 5 other breweries during that day. Pints will run you 6 per and flights are 10 samoleons for a serving of 4...pretty standard prices really. Unfortunately their parking seems pretty limited out front so be ready for that. Of worth noting, would be that they do 1 dollar 5 oh-zee pours whenever a train blocks traffic nearby...wish I knew the train schedule!

I've gone by this place a bunch but always overlooked it for the bigger breweries. We stopped in for the holiday brew pass and were so pleasantly surprised! The environment was just a really cool vibe, the bartender was so nice, everyone was friendly and they had some cool beers on tap!

Really not impressed by the beer selection, the quality of the beer, or the service provided. This is maybe a good place to hang out casually, but I would not recommend going here if you're looking to drink good beer.

We drove over to fatty after our anniversary dinner. We met the manager, Bryson. He is AWESOME! Super personable and took the time to hang out with us and chat for a little while. The environment is awesome here and we cannot wait to come back. The beers are super great. My favorite was the sour!

Fatty's!!! Brewery stop #3. - How can you not already be having fun knowing you're going to a brewery called Fatty's?!? The vibe here was hip and fun as soon as I walked into the door. We were a few minutes behind the rest of the gang bc we called and no one answered so we didn't think they were open. But they were and I'm glad for that. The bartender/owner treated me like we were long lost BFFs. Everyone asked me after I ordered if I knew him he was that personable and friendly! I finally found a semi sour beer here that was great. The seating area and bar was definitely smaller than the last two stops but that doesn't take away from the great vibe. We sat for a while then spent time out in the sun and the small grass area for group pics. Thanks Fatty for being so cool and adding another great spot to hang in CHS.

It's always a great day at Fatty's! I love the Lazy Hazy and Serape! Great vibes and super music jamming!

I've been to Fatty's with several different groups of patrons, and everyone has always had a great experience. The beers are good and Fatty is quite the character. They have live music when they feel so inclined. In fact, you can play or sing while you are there...as long as you don't suck! The instruments and equipment seem to stay set-up for any whimsical performance that might ensue. Fatty is also quite talented. Parking is basically on the street, but this location lends itself to no issues finding a spot. There is a tattoo parlor next door. Jus sayin! There is a nice grassy lawn out front for good weather days/nights, but most of the seating is inside around the bar. They always have snacks and water available, and will let you taste test any beer you might be interested in. Their bathrooms are always clean. Such a weird thing to point out, but also very important. Fattys is open every evening/night so stop by if you're in the area. If not, plan a special outing with friends to check them out. You are surely in for a treat.

Great beer selection and tastes great but the place is small. Parking is very difficult, if any at all. Biggest issue I had were the mosquitoes here! After being at the bar for 2 hours. I had over 10 mosquito bites. I was killing them as they were on me. I never saw so many in a bar. I still think the brewing ingredients or supplies are attracting theinsects and mosquitos but it needs to be under control before I will return.

As a craft beer lover, I've visited my fair share of breweries, but my experience at Fattys was truly exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Lazy Hazy is my new favorite beer! The pimento and cheese was off the chain, I will be back again!

My friends and I took their Phish bus thinking that it was both ways given that we paid $70 per person. When we got dropped off, we found out that it was only one way. Apparently, there was a "disclaimer" on their post stating that, but we missed it. How about putting it at the top of the page? Who organizes a one-way bus to the venue? Most people would assume it would be two way, especially for $70. All but two of the other people that rode with us on the bus were surprised to discover we had no ride back when we got to the venue. A Lyft ride was $35 each way when I pre-booked the next night. I used to book a bus for 30 friends to AND from Merriweather for $50 per person, so I'm guessing Fatty's was profiting nicely from this arrangement. Unfortunately, we booked Fatty's bus for both nights and the owner would not refund our money for the second night after we complained and canceled. The beer wasn't great and I would not recommend supporting an establishment that can't organize a proper bus ride.

Hatty the bartender was awesome and really welcoming as I am moving from out of state checking out new breweries. The Lazy Hazy is a solid beer. I'm not a huge IPA person but this one is really smooth

Awesome! My family and I were in town and we stopped in on Saturday to check it out. The beers were great, we tried them all! I loved the peach beer. We had children with us and they had fun playing video games and cornhole. Our bartender Alex was great! We will definitely come back when we are in town again!

Their sour Blackberry IPA is a really interesting and excellent beer. Service was fast and helpful- bartender let me taste a few brews before I settled on the sour IPA. They have a cool little outdoor seating area that never seems crowded. There's ample street parking and they generally have a food truck onsite. Pet friendly- I brought my dog and there were zero issues. This is a great little brewery and much more low key than the popular/touristy options nearby. Check it out.

Friendly people, cool atmosphere. A good number of beer options as well as CBD water. I do wish they had a cider or something like that. Small place but a very cute outdoor area.

We stopped at Fatty's today based on seeing great online reviews as well as a list of nice beers on their website. I guess the beers on their website are things they've brewed in the past, because not a single one of the six beers I had wanted to try were on tap today. Their menu in the taproom had seven beers listed, but they were out of two of those. I settled with the Photon blonde all. It was great, but I was still quite disappointed that the saison, hefeweizen, multiple goses weren't in the taproom but were on their site, as these beers were the primary reason for visiting Fatty's. There is plenty of street parking nearby, and the taproom is dog-friendly. It's a smaller taproom with limited seating, but this wasn't an issue on a Sunday afternoon. I'd like to give it another try if they have more beers available.

A bunch of Yelpers stopped in here for a little UYE brewery crawl. I really liked the space. They had some neat stuff up on the walls, it's clean and they have cornhole outside. My husband was the main beer drinker but I had a sip and it was good. My brothers are coming to town for the holidays and I know they'd love this place, so we will be back soon!

Another cute newer brewery in Charleston. We stopped by for a flight on our way to tour the old headstones at the Magnolia Cemetery located right behind it. It was very slow and only one other patron was there with us and the bartender. She was very casual, stepping outside a few times but always making sure we were set before checking on the beer or anything else. We both got a flight of the Fatty's beer: Goslar Gose (yum), Elrod's Special (also yum), About Time (decent) and Photon (also decent). I liked that they had things other than IPAs on draft and especially happy that they had a gose! I wish I had been able to grab a sticker to bring back to CT with me as I love their mascot!

A great brewery! The beer I happened to love, elrod's special, an extra special bitter , was master brewed by the bartender who served it to me. A riot! We had a great discussion. I have to make my way over here again. Their selection is extensive.

A fun spot that was pretty hopping when we were there, with a live band playing and a pretty packed house. We still managed to get a seat at the bar and the bartender was helpful in explaining the different beers. The Arnold 33 was a pretty decent take on a New England IPA and I also liked the ESB.

Ok I have to say this is the absolute best brewery/beerworks I have ever had the privilege of "testing". I'm not a beer drinker, but thanks to Fatty, I've discovered I like sours and am now going to go to a tasting. I strongly urge anyone and everyone to come to Fatty's and try a beer or three, it's fabulous!!

A nice microbrew near The Workshop. Decent beer but nothing incredibly special. It was small and not a ton of seats so make sure you are willing to stand and the weather is nice. They had $1 for 5oz beers everytime a train stops traffic. I would give it another try if I was in the area.

Best brewery In Charleston!! Come on in and meet Fatty himself. Great times! Located in the heart of the "Brewery District".

Our Sunday Funday included a stop at Fatty's Beer Works, and we enjoyed it. A more casual open atmosphere, with roll up garage doors. The bar is a L shaped and seats about 10 total. We were welcomed by Fatty himself, a friendly guy who was warm and chatty. There is a nice area with a sofa and casual seating, then there is a small green space right out front to drink and get some sun. I liked there were some bar snacks available to enjoy with our beer. There are about 10 different beer selections and they also have a limited wine selection. I went with the Musket Mule, a French Saison, which had a smooth polished taste and made me want more. Then my husband had the Lazy Hazy, New England IPA, and it was exactly that..an aggressively hopped brew. I like Fatty's Beer Works, this is the perfect after work place to stop by for a cold one. Or stop by on the weekend to relax with others. I think our group enjoyed Fatty's and I know we will be back again.

So this is very nice quiet place and when we walked in we were one of the first ones send this is something I would recommend for people without any kids because it's really private. What I like the lot is that there is a life size Jenga that we almost bit the record!!!!! And beers were great I really like the atmosphere! A little bit drunk now but t hey you only live once right? Alex is very friendly and informative. We also had a chance to meet me FAtty :-) he was a lot of fun I wish he would stick around for a little bit longer:-) he even wear a darth Vader mask that talks! Oh Pete myself if you rented to have fun and play games and chill difference and just relax this is a place for you! By the way we are number two team in giant jenga! And there is also a history of a place on a menu! And it's a great location!! Come visit

Freaking amazing craft selections. Stopped by real quick after having dinner at Edmund's Oast & I was so glad I did. It's a small & intimate setting but really cool spot.

Fatty's was the last stop on our little brewery hop, and it was a cool spot! I don't remember the beer list being super long, but we found ones we wanted to try. There was a little lawn area out front, and then the brewery and bar area inside. Being a Sunday evening, it was pretty chill. My friend and I were the only ones in there at one point, with a few others coming through. We found a seat on the comfy leather couch, which was nice to sit and relax on. I think we were there for an hour looking through the big Salvador Dali book that was on the coffee table in front of us, and the inside area felt like a place you could just sit and hangout for a few hours without feeling too crowded or rushed. It wasn't my favorite brewery of the bunch, but definitely a cool place to go and hangout!

The beer was great. Musket Mule was a very good choice. The bartender was so entertaining and was very patient with this Yelp Elite crowd. He posed for pics with us and was just a hoot. The location is nice, clean bathrooms, and great snacks including hot crunchy fries, peanuts, and some other snack mix that was above par. Everyone seemed to love it. I sure enjoyed my time there and plan on returning!

What a fantastic addition to Charleston's growing brewery scene! Fatty's sticks out among the rapidly growing options: it's dog friendly, has plenty of games and books, is larger than most of its counterparts and the fun owner "Fatty" can almost always be found behind the bar (or behind the mic)! This place has a ton of character and a "family" vibe. Add it to your rotation, I anticipate big things to come from Fatty's!

Great little brewery with lots of potential! I tried the 1979 India Brown Ale, never had a brown/IPA hybrid and was pleasantly surprised :) Located on Meeting St extension right next to Blu Gorilla! They are newly open and have a limited selection of their own beer but do offer guest beer taps and a couple wines. If you're in that area of the peninsula, def check it out!

A group of us went for happy hour after work. It's nicer on the inside than I thought it would be. The bartenders were extremely welcoming. Wednesday was ladies night, so beers were half price (for the ladies only), which was a nice surprise! We will be returning very soon on another Wednesday! They were getting ready to play bingo, which is awesome, but most of didn't plan on staying long enough for it. Another reason to return!

I've never actually been here, but sometimes I take the "back way" home through Meeting Street...and by the time I'm in this area it's relatively dark outside. And I spot Fatty's multicolor gorgeous lit up sign. Long story short this sign puts me in a good mood while I battle traffic getting home each day. So I apologize since if this review isn't "real" enough for you yuppie yelpers. But their sign is enough for me to drop in there sometime. Just haven't gotten the chance yet. So have a beer for me? :-)

Great brewery in the up and coming NOMO district with great brand, brew, and unique vibe.

We stumbled onto this brewery by accident after checking out the nearby Magnolia Cemetery. Definitely try the 1979 India Brown Ale and the Lady of Fatima is a very nice Gose style beer. We got to take advantage of the ping pong table at the side and made some new friends during a game of Corn Hole out front. Very fun time with some great beer.

Favorite place in Charleston for a low key atmosphere. Amazing staff and live music!!! If you have the chance to try the cotton candy ipa, it will change your life. So tasty, among the rest of their brewed specialties in house. Double thumbs up

We finally made it to Fattys!! Been trying to get here for months..like most breweries in the area it's a pretty laid back atmosphere with some decent beers. I enjoyed the IPA and SMH did a flight and decided that the ESB was her favorite. A little hot in the tasting room but c'mon folks this is SC !! Deal with it !! Bartender was engaging and gave us some background on the brewery and the source of the names for his creations, looking forward to returning here soon !!
