Where to Find Halal Food and Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego
"All entrees at this City Heights staple, from tilapia or wasla (meaning goat in the Somali language) are served with a side salad and your choice of pasta or basmati rice. Serving primarily Somali dishes, the restaurant also caters." - Candice Woo
This restaurant, formerly owned by a Somali owner, is now owned by a Mexican owner. Surprisingly, they don’t offer any halal food except for salmon fish with pasta. However, I tried the salmon fish with pasta, and it was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend it.

Nice owner. The neighborhood guys comes around and talk a lot.
Noise but fun and chill out
Goat rice was fantastic. It tastes balance moisture and has great flavor. Free banana water, so friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The food was great. Service is friendly. Prices are reasonable. The only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars is the cleanliness. I got pictures of the sticky napkin holder and one if the disgusting fans. The floor has loose tiles which is a safety hazard. It's a shame these people don't put as much pride in their facility as they obviously do in their food and service.

I love the rice of Fatuma's restaurant. No wonder it does run out so fast.
The staff are friendly and professional.
It is affordable to buy for a potluck.

Wandered in after reading the sign outside advertising a special. Somalian food I had not ever experienced. I was offered a delicious hot black tea with milk and sugar. I ordered the salmon with rice, and salad. It was SO DELICIOUS. Clove and bay leaf slow cooked rice. The fish lightly crisp on the outside, buttery and cooked to perfection within. Kind courteous Somalian people and culture. I look forward to sharing more, and trying other dishes. Ancient good food.

11/06/2021: I am glad to see Fatuma re-open. Although a new owner and menu items are a bit reduced, the taste is still great. Sumali Mediterranean food taste is one of the best amongst all Mediterranean countries and Fatuma lives up to the promise. Their rice is excellent with great aroma, meat is well cooked, meat is cooked in great tasting spices but not hot, and finally their food adds vegetables as well. I love their Wasla Kebabs and Gyros.

No dinning at this time due to the Covid.
The food was exactly what I have expected, tasty, moist meet, and delicious samosas with a bit of spicy taste, something that I have enjoyed!
Highly recommend!
