When my friend gave me a few options for a catch-up brunch, I immediately asserted that we should go to Faubourg. It had been a few months since my stellar dinner experience there, and I was eager to revisit the place, especially for different type of meal. There were several 2- or 3-hour parking spots around, making it a convenient locale. Like last time, the service was very friendly, and the food was great!
We both decided to go with the prix-fixe menu, which was an excellent deal, as it included 2 courses and our choice of a juice, Bloody Mary, Elderflower Mimosa, or Lychee Mimosa, all for $39. Neither of us were in the drinking mood, however. I asked if I could substitute coffee for the cocktail, but was told that was unfortunately not an option. Instead, I just got a seltzer and ordered a coffee on the side. The brew was robust and tasty, and the staff was really generous in offering refills. For my first course, I went with the mixed fruit bowl, which included some berries, cantaloupe, pineapple, and more. The fruit was fresh, and the portion size was perfect! I opted for the Salmon & Parsnips as my main dish, because I knew the restaurant was super skilled with their seafood dishes. The salmon was cooked to perfection and was served over shaved brussels sprouts, cippolini onions, and a parsnip puree. It was also accompanied by some sliced figs. These accoutrements, which were all favorite foods of mine, added a variety of textures and flavors to the dish and all were well-executed. Lastly, we decided to share the Apple Tart as a dessert add-on. For some reason, I pictured the treat to be more like a little pie or crumble, but it was very much the embodiment of the word "tart". There was a thin, golden brown puff pastry that was topped with caramelized sliced apples and a scopp of vanilla ice cream. It was sweet enough on its own, so we were glad that we had wisely asked for the additional caramel sauce on the side. The dessert was great, but I probably would not order it again, as I am not the biggest fan of puffed pastries.
Once again, I had the pleasure of dining at Faubourg, one of my most appreciated recent additions to the area!
