Iconic Dallas Chef Stephan Pyles Will Close Flora Street Cafe in Downtown | Eater Dallas

"An experimental tasting-menu spot located inside Flora Street Cafe, Fauna will also close following Pyles’s January 2 announcement that both concepts are being shuttered; beyond identifying it as an experimental tasting-menu venue, the report offers no further details about Fauna’s run." - Amy McCarthy

(formerly Coyote Grill location) Fauna Latin Flavor offered an extraordinary Latin dining experience that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant décor, lively Latin music, and warm hospitality set the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening. To start, I indulged in the classic empanadas—golden, flaky pastry stuffed with a delicious blend of seasoned beef, onions, and olives. They were served with a tangy chimichurri sauce that added the perfect touch of freshness. For the main course, I indulged in a mouthwatering Lomo Saltado—Juicy beef strips are stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and a savory soy-based sauce, then paired with crispy fries and rice. It’s tangy, hearty, and perfectly spiced—a comforting, flavorful dish that hits every note. To top it all off, dessert was a showstopper: a decadent chocolate cake, Flan, Tiramisu and hot coffee. The contrast of warm and cold was perfection on a plate. The lively atmosphere, complete with Latin music and friendly service, tied everything together for an evening that felt like a warm embrace of Latin culinary traditions. + off menu chicken wings were fantastico!! Service was impeccable—our gracious owner Hanna was attentive/attractive without being intrusive/gaudy, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. So whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to treat yourself, The Fauna Latin Flavor delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended! - Sean

Good new place. The food was very tasty. The size of plates was more than adequate. Red sangria was outstanding, and pisco sour was very good. We had the Tallarines, milanese, and Seco. We also had flan, Tiramisu, and the carrot cake. All 3 desserts were good, but the slice of carrot cake was huge and had great flavor and texture. Only less than stellar was that Seco was not as hot as I prefer. It was fine for my wife, but I like my dishes very hot. The empanadas were full of meat, and the croquettes had a touch of sweet plantains that I had never had before. The servers were excellent. We will come back

Great new local gem! Delicious fusion of the best of Latin cuisines, specially Peruvian, Colombian, and Mexican. We recommend the pork tacos, Caribbean croquetas, and the carrot cake! Will come back for sure!

I don’t want to sound overly harsh but the coffee was cold even though it was freshly brewed and the dishes were lacking any sort of discernible Latin flavors. The Fauna burrito tasted like something I could make at home, filled with underseasoned chicken and accompanied by Tostitos salsa on the side. The eggs Benedict were bland as well and came with English muffins that weren’t sufficiently toasted. Just a fail breakfast across the board.

Service, presentation, and flavor were all on point! The young gentleman who was our server was very kind and prompt. I had the Pollo en Salsa de Hongos which was phenomenal! The chicken was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was bursting with flavor. Very nicely presented on a bed of crispy potatoes with asparagus. Will definitely be back try out the other items on the menu!

Please come out and support this new breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant located in Fairfax City! I'm posting just the first page of the breakfast menu and there are many more options, including their "Latin Flavor" options. You can't beat these prices in NOVA! The food is fresh and delicious, and the owner and staff are warm and welcoming. Those of you who live locally know how difficult it is to find a really good and affordable breakfast location, so please support this new business! This restaurant is located in the building previously occupied by Coyote Grill.

An incredible experience! I really didn't expect this kind of food at Fairfax. An excellent proposal of fusion food. I recommend it! We ordered the pork tacos, it was the softest pork I've tried in years. The feta cheese salad with peach is the best and without hesitation I would return for its chicken in truffle sauce.

An exceptional dining experience. This is an American restaurant with Latin options. The friendly greeting, wooden menus, drinks served right away, food came out quickly, nice sized portions and very tasty. I loved how the condiments were on the table in a lazy susan. My husband ordered Chicharron and suggested more salt on the pork and onions with more lime/lemon. I would suggest to include a spoon with the utensils. We cannot wait to come back and try the dinner menu.
