A 24 Hour Itinerary to Eating at the Best Restaurants in Charlevoix’s Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie | Eater Montreal

"For a special dinner I plan ahead for Faux Bergers, where the evening starts at 6:30 with guests enjoying the view of surrounding farmland and the meal is then served family-style." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

The best meal and service we had all trip - this one was a stunner! You won't found these flavor combinations anywhere else - dishes were very unique and assembled with great care. English translations were provided and extensive - we didn't miss out on any part of the experience. Do allow for a full 3 hours so you can linger and enjoy. When you're done, pop in the adjoining cheese shop and enjoy some more wine tasting!

Awesome dining experience. Had a fantastic evening here. Each course is very delicate and creative, and most importantly, delicious. Service is top notch. They presented each plate with passion. Really appreciate the local agriculture here. High recommended.

The most memorable meal of our two week holiday. Nailed it, in every way. The attention to detail and complexity of every dish was so appreciated. As were the other diners, all of whom were there “on purpose”. Lots of applause and laughter, showing much appreciation to the kitchen. Whose effort was so obvious, including that of our server. Kitchen staff also involved in serving and explaining the dishes, individually at the table in English as needed. If you’re curious (or a fan) about farm to table and appreciate creativity and passion in the kitchen - I’d encourage you to book a table.

Incredible experience. A blind tasting menu made with local ingredients. Each plate is executed perfectly, every wine pairing more perfect than the next. We will remember this meal for a very long time.

This was a novel experience for my partner and me. Every plate was made with such intention and thought. The textures of each dish were carefully considered. With every plate, the sommelier and chef would explain each ingredient, where it was sourced, and how it was prepared. All ingredients are local, and any meat products come from free-range farms. It seems like you will never have the same meal twice here, which is perfect, as we plan to return to see what a summer or fall menu would look like!

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Heavy emphasis on farm to fork, with the vast majority of the ingredients featured sourced from the Charlevoix region. The atmosphere is one of dining with the family, and the chef takes the time at the start of each course to dive into the inspirations behind the dish. Thank you so much to all the staff and chefs for creating such wonderful memories!

We made reservations for lunch, thinking we would simply be ordering something off the menu. It was absolutely delightful to realize that we had signed up for a five course experience of dishes made with local foods, each paired with a beverage, and all fabulous. Adding to the experience was the explanation that the small team provided about each pairing. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Charlevoix region.

A fantastic afternoon. Our family visited for lunch and we were blown away by the thoughtfulness of the dishes and the entire experience. Delicious, surprising courses and excellent service. Félix and the team took good care of us.

Yelp
I love Famille Migneron cheese store and when I found out that there is a restaurant opened next to it I got very curious. Faux Bergers is not your typical restaurant, you don't just go there for food but also for the experience. I reserved a table online about a week in advance. They offer a 7 course meal from only the local ingredients in the region, almost each dish is explained to you before you taste it. I loved their cabbage salad with carp caviar, definitely a unique tasting dish. The service is great as well. I highly recommend this place if you consider yourself a foodie or just love trying out new things. You won't regret it!

Yelp
This is the best table and dining experience in the region. It's a hyper-local 7-course meal with ingredients either found directly on the farm or within a fee kilometres. They're located directly on the farm (actually a cheesemaking facility) in a space made for dining and are really passionate about their products. The menu is completely unknown which adds a little bit to the mystery. I would highly recommend you give them a call 48 hours in advance to mention things you don't eat, they're very accommodating. The wine card is short but nice, they're mostly private imports. There's a communal feeling to the whole thing as everyone arrives at the same time and eats at the same time. Every course comes with a thorough description of the ingredients' origins and how they were prepared. It's also a good deal for what you're getting/discovering. One thing they could work on is the dining area: the chairs could be upgraded. I never say this but we were somewhat uncomfortable throughout the evening.
