"Falls Church’s only Egyptian restaurant charms with warm service and tall, frosty glasses of mint lemonade. Traditional dishes such as freekeh-stuffed squab and lamb chops with grape leaves appear alongside familiar spreads like hummus and baba ghanoush. The restaurant also serves breakfast all day. "Northern Virginia Magazine restaurant critic and dining editor Stefanie Gans heads to the months-old Falls Church restaurant, which boasts an Egyptian menu with Middle Eastern staples like flavorful grape leaves. A plate of rice mixed with little strings of vermicelli remains light, thanks to 'tender, delicate' veal inside. She’s also keen on the 'subtle standout' of a starter dubbed ful medames, available packaged in a trio for less than $10, featuring 'heady, rich' fava beans." - Tierney Plumb

Wonderful! Fresh, healthy, and delicious! The falafel is perhaps the best I’ve ever had…anywhere. Lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options. We’ll be coming back again very soon.

Fava Pot is the only Egyptian restaurant in the DMV. It has two locations. Visited the Falls Church location and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We had the Eat Like an Egyptian sampler, though pricy, it will easily feed two people and give you a wonderful sample of everything Fava Pot serves. All of the food is made on the premises and tastes wonderful. Egyptian falafel is made from Fava beans, so it will taste different than you are used to.

I am writing this review 3 weeks later, so I cannot recall all of the delicious flavors of the food ... but, the owner (?) was fantastic, the cuisine was distinct from the more typical (in the US) Lebanese style, and everything was thoroughly enjoyed. I can distinctly remember the pomegranates and lime of the baba ganoush and the fava bean flavor of the falafel. My dish was complex and delicious but more specific details elude me. You'll just have to try it for yourself. My mother, who had not been to Egypt since the 70s, also loved it. It was more upscale than the food she had as a student.

We had a lovely evening with friends enjoying large complete meals at the FAVA POT. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and good conversation. Their beer was delicious after a long day. Loved the delightful owner ❤️

Fantastic place to try Egyptian food. Amazing experience! They’re masters of hospitality and the food tasted fresh and flavorful. The restaurant had lovely ambience, and the owner Dina was super welcoming and puts a lot of love and care into her business. I really liked the kofta sandwich; it was large portions and really tasty. I’ll be back!

Love this place, their food is consistently good. 👌 Favorites include breakfast, zaataar pies, hawashi, bashamil, koshari, mixed grill, hummus, fresh bread ..and the list goes on!

I have been to fava pot a few times for brunch. Each time I was impressed by the food and drinks. My favorite is the cookies that come with coffee. The atmosphere is cozy.

Before I speak on the food I want to mention that my passion is cooking and I’ve developed an incredible culinary talent. I know the challenge of elevating food without sacrificing authenticity. I was both born in Egypt and grew up eating Egyptian food. I heard of this place called fava pot. I took my parents during a visit and even brought my grandma who was visiting from Egypt. Let me get started on the food. First of all don’t let the price point frighten you. It’s worth every penny and the portion size is gigantic and you will likely have a ton of left overs. We ordered the fava beans and the garlic pickled eggplant. The fava beans were incredibly authentic and reminded me exactly of the dish I’d have in Egypt. the olives in the eggplant elevated the dish by adding an incredible crunch and the eggplant they used was crisp not soggy. This dish was a big winner. I’ve eaten macaroni bechamel almost every holiday for the last 30 years but the dish they serve here was truly special. It was not oily the ground beef was very crispy and the bechamel sauce was executed to perfection. We got the macaroni bechamel with the chicken kofta which was a huge crowd favorite. I also had the koshary, molokhia a and falafel. And the authenticity of the dishes truly brought me to home. The lamb was sooo fresh and incredibly flavorful. One of my favorite items is the iced hibiscus tea. I would come back just for that. I can talk about this restaurant for hours because Dina the owner truly built herself the most excellent example of elevated Egyptian cuisine without sacrificing any authenticity. I go to Egypt at least twice a year and this restaurant can compete with any restaurant from my mother land. If you want a truly Egyptian experience come to Fava pot. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Yelp
First time here! Picked up TooGoodToGo because I was curious and good ratings. Great delicious food and I'll be back to try others Customer service was nice and owner was nice

Yelp
I used Fava Pot for buffet catering recently and could not recommend this place more. Dina, the owner, literally responds within 30 minutes of reaching out to her. I got quotes from many catering companies but Dina was the most on top of it. It was also very reasonably priced. I was also able to hire her to be my day of coordinator and she was truly the glue of the event. Thinking of every detail. She helped hire the staff, rent the plating, and coordinate with other vendors. I still have guests talking about the food. Get the moussaka! You can taste every spice that it is put into it. Phenomenal.

Yelp
Unassuming Egyptian restaurant with a homey-feel, and both authentic and delicious food! First of all, I say that there is a "homey feel" here because the woman who is the chef comes around to all of the tables to greet you (with her hairnet still on). The space is fairly small, but nothing too crazy The menus are on a QR code, and you order directly from your phone The menu is comprised of a wide range of Egyptian food, and I had never heard of a lot of the different options To be honest I am not quite sure what I ordered, but whatever it was it was delicious. If I remember correctly, it was a "classic Egyptian dish" but the best way that I can describe it is that it was kind of like a macaroni pie Huge portions

Yelp
First foray into Egyptian cuisine for all 5 of us. We relished every bite! Lamb, susu's chicken, chicken za'atar, the kofta platter. Every one of us tried all the dishes and agreed that they were simply scrumptious. The meats were meltingly tender, the rice or potatoes lovely complements. Kunafa with sweet cheese topped off things with strong cups of Egyptian coffee. Will definitely return!

Cyndy K.

Yelp
My review needed an update because the food at Fava Pot is so flavorful and delicious. Service is great too. We ordered online and there is absolutely no difference on the quality and quantity of the food. Our order was packaged well and we received it in good order and timeliness. Highly recommend!

Meg V.

Yelp
Hands down, best falafel I've ever had!!! (Egyptian rice also amazing.) Staff is incredibly attentive and atmosphere lovely!

Kathy I.

Yelp
Love Fava Pot for the unique, fresh flavors of the Egyptian food and the cozy decor of the Falls Church location. Highly recommend the Fuul and hummus as well as the tasty happy hour drinks. Service is always friendly, but can be quite slow when dining in. If you are in a hurry, may want to grab it to go, but either way, the food is good.

Zaid Y.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Egyptian food and it was honestly pretty good. We ordered takeout, so I don't have much of an opinion regarding the interior. The service was ok, but they forgot one of my friends meals entirely. In terms of food, it was overall good. I ordered the Lamb Chops while I tried one of my friends Lamb Shank. The Lamb Chops were cooked very well, as the meat was flavorful, tender, and juicy. The Lamb Shank was unfortunately well done, so it was chewy and not as soft as it could've been. The grape leaves, tzatziki sauce, and salad were all good as well. Overall, pretty good, but not as amazing as I thought it would be.

Boykin W.

Yelp
You know it's good before you even sit down because of the decor and staff. We were greeted cordially by Dina, the owner and chef. Service was prompt. Food was authentic and excellent. They fry with ghee, they use organic eggs. We had the eat like an Egyptian platter and it was delightful.

Rayne W.

Yelp
The customer service made a great first impression as I just came to get some caffeine. The barista was super patient and helpful in telling me about the coffee and teas available. I ended up getting a chai tea latte that really hit the spot as a pick me up after driving around and attending a few meetings on a rainy day! I definitely have to come back as my Egyptian Realtor friend highly recommended this place! A piece of Egypt hidden in Falls Church...

W W.

Yelp
For years I had looked across the street while dining at The Original Pancake House and wondered what the restaurant with an outdoor patio was like. A year ago a friend tried it and later invited me and I was hooked. I had never had Egyptian food but trusted my friend and opted to try. My favorite thing is garlic sauce and I love their version. The fresh salad and bread is excellent. The grape leaves have the BEST flavor I have had in the DMV. My go to dish is the Egyptian rice and chicken. Everytime I go I see others plates and realize there are so many wonderful dishes I wanf to try.

Hadeel H.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! Food was full of flavor and there's a lot of variety! As an Arab, I appreciated the authenticity of the decor, music and overall ambiance. It smelled amazing just walking in! Will try again for sure!

Serena X.

Yelp
For the appetizer, I ordered the chefs appetizer plate with pickled eggplant, Egyptian style liver, and the fava beans with hummus and yogurt. The pickled eggplant wasn't my favorite, but the standout of appetizers was the fava beans. They had the perfect creaminess and paired well with the flatbread. For the main course, I shared the koshary bowl as recommended by our waitress. I loved the bowl, as it was warm and filled with soft rice and macaroni pasta. My favorite part of the bowl was the house made hot sauce - quite spicy but savory and delicious. Service and ambiance are a plus for me. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try Egyptian food!

Yelp
Another fantastic Yelp find while visiting Fairfax. Chef Dina brings Egypt to Fairfax with her classic dishes. She is so welcoming to all guests and the ambiance clean and cozy with surprising traditional American Christmas tunes playing in the background. The walls are studded with tidbits of famous Egyptians throughout history (don't miss out on the history in the ladies room)! The food is fantastic. We had warm pita bread with delicious hummus and baba ganoush to start. No need to try to decide what to pick because all of the flavors can come to you when ordering the "Eat like an Egyptian" platter! We tried koshari (Egyptian national dish) while visiting Cairo in 2018 and loved the opportunity to experience it again here in the US. Truly a comfort dish (think 3 way spaghetti) only Egyptian style. I love everything about Fava Pot and they cater too! Don't sleep on this one! Go try it out!

Marty B.

Yelp
Great Egyptian food!! Chicken kabob platter is fantastic! Perfect pita! The macaroni bevhamel is a warm hug! But, save roome for dessert!l Kunafa with Nutella is to die for! Attentive serverice. Neighborhood vibe. Hive them a try!

Heba E.

Yelp
Wow I've lived in Egypt and I haven't had such authentic food! This place is great dinner with friends. Outdoor seating! And to work from here with internet and coffee choices.

Lina A.

Yelp
Leaving another 5 star review because the food is consistently great :) ordered delivery so can't say much about ambiance, but the service was great. My food was vegan as requested. I ordered the falafel platter and it was delicious. Seriously the best falafel I've had, I love how crispy the outside is, and the inside is the brightest green! Great meal.

Sumera S.

Yelp
I LOVE fava pot I've had the khosary and the macaroni bechamel and MMM! YUM! SOO good! My new favorite restaurant. I can't wait to eat it again. Highlyyyyy recommend!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Wanted to try something new and I've always heard good things about Fava Pot. I also thought I heard it was pretty healthy-ish so that was a plus. They have a pretty big menu but we saw the Eat Like An Egyptian: Chef's Choice option which looked like a good intro to their menu so we got that. We also got an Iced Mint Lime and the Kunafa with Nutella too. We headed over and went inside to pick up but we were informed by the friendly guy at the counter that we pick up orders from the sealed cubes outside, near the front door. First thing we tried was the Iced Mint Lime which was pretty good. Pulpy, minty, and a little frost which was refreshing. The food traveled pretty well. Our favorites were the baba ganoush, falafel, all the meats (fried chicken, kofta, lamb chop), the rice, and koshary. Everything was super flavorful without being overly salty. It was a lot of food for two people, not bad for $55. We ended the meal with the kunafa and it was so rich and had a good amount of nutella. We might've over did it with the syrup but it was still good as expected. Overall for my first time trying Egyptian food, it was really good. Lots of great food for a good price. I would definitely come back to try some of their other stuff.

Ramy A.

Yelp
I ordered one of the 2 options they have for Ramadan every thing came in a very small portions, plates half empty and almost two table spoon of salad that didn't look fresh and I didn't touch. Option included dates and baklava which was only one very tiny date and two bites of baklava that tasted stale and served in a plastic container cup. Also ordered a mix grilled meat dish and the lamp chops were very tiny almost had no meat to it. Food didn't taste good overall and most of it didn't seem to be fresh. Won't go back neither recommend it.

York C.

Yelp
I love middle eastern food and wife's Egyptian colleague recommended this place and it didn't let us down. We have been there twice so far. The iced lemon mint drink is super refreshing and the liver sandwich has incredible flavor and portion. My two favorite items. their appetizers are great as well and definitely do the sampler(3-choice) if you are first timer. You can do the liver as part of the sampler and the fava bean is really good too.

Safae S.

Yelp
Absolutely love everything about Fava Pot ! Just had my fourth visit, and somehow they manage to top themselves every single time. The owner? A gem - so welcoming and genuinely warm. The staff? Always helpful, even when they're swamped, and those smiles just don't quit. Let's talk about the portions - they're generous, perfect for sharing, and let me tell you, the atmosphere is like a mini vacation to Egypt without the airfare. The fetayer with feta and honey is unbelievably good. If you haven't been here yet, you're seriously missing out.

Michele S.

Yelp
Cute Cafe with authentic egyptian food. We went on a Sunday for lunch and it took about 1 hr for the food to come out. We got the grilled chicken platter which came with a delicious cucumber and tomato salad, pita bread and your choice of potatoes or rice. Everything was great but the chicken was dry and burnt. We also got the lamb and beef omelet which was great. The desert was a delicious warm sweet cheese dish. The owner is so sweet and friendly.

Maria G.

Yelp
Nice little place with amazing customer service, family friendly and their dishes seem as authentic Egyptian dishes, hoping to try soon with family and will update after that.

Kimi S.

Yelp
From my past review, you know that I am already a huge fan of Fava Pot. In fact, I didn't think that my love for them could grow until I realized that I could get Fava Pot at a discounted price! Fava Pot is one of the partners of the Too Good To Go app which helps restaurants offload extra food at the end of the day for a discounted price. I was lucky enough to snag a "surprise grab bag" last week and was so happy to see that it featured my favorite item on the menu, koshary! My grab bag was packed to the BRIM with macraroni, lentils, beef, onions, tomato sauce and more. I got at least three meals out of it plus the best carb-induced sleep on my life...and all for the price of $4.99. This was just the meal to remind me of my love for Fava Pot and all of the amazing items on their menu (like lamb chops, salads, kebabs and dessert). This local gem must be protected at all costs.

Adrian B.

Yelp
I love this place. It's located in a little strip mall in Falls Church and parking is easy to find. Upon entering, you'll notice a lot of pictures on the wall of famous Egyptians and their contributions. I'm not an Egyptian food aficionado, but the menu seems pretty expansive. They have sounds, salads, appetizers, main dishes, and sandwiches. I got the Pharaoh wrap on pita bread. It was exceptional and very filling. There a patio where you can dine and it's covered. I look forward to returning when the weather warms up.

Alan L.

Yelp
This place had such welcoming staff. We tried the gollash and mixed grill platter. We also had the guava tea and lime drink. Everything was tasty, just a little pricey. The atmosphere was warm and ordering was very simple as they use QR codes for you to do so. I'd like to try other things on the menu in the future.

Jen L.

Yelp
3.5 Decent food, kind people, but be prepared for a long wait. Came around 7 pm on a Saturday night and put in our order by 7:05. Unfortunately, the first of our dishes didn't arrive until 7:45, with the last coming at 8, which also meant some of our food were cold by the time we all started eating. We ordered - Chicken Kebob Platter (3.5/5): the kebobs were unfortunately not the juicy chunks I was expecting. They were well spiced though and besides being a bit tough, not too bad - Egyptian Lamb Shank (4/5): the lamb shank was delicious! Super tender and fall off the bone with great flavor. Also loved the roasted potatoes and greens with it. - Eat like an Egyptian (3.5/5): definitely a massive amount of food. Some were hits while others were surprisingly bland. Among the mix, the koshary, grape leaves and marinated artichoke had great flavor. I love the slight yeastiness of the pita as well. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was EXTREMELY bland. There was almost no flavor to it. The lamb chops were similar and over cooked. I wasn't impressed by any of the proteins, which is a shame. Surprisingly, the liver had the most flavor, but I'm usually not a fan of liver. Overall, may come back- but unfortunately the food wasn't out of the park enough that i would want to wait an hour again.

Dave K.

Yelp
I love middle eastern food, but am not particularly knowledgeable about Egyptian food specifically. For me, I think I generally prefer afghan food when it comes to hummus. While the hummus at Fava Pot is fine, it isn't my style. That said, the koshary at Fava Pot is CRAZY good. I have had kodhary a few times, my wife often makes it at home, but the koshary here is so so so good. It is a great value for money, the portion is large, but the main reason I love it is the flavor. The onions are so deliciously caramelized, the sauces are harmonious... I really can't say enough good stuff about this specific dish. The spicy feta dip and the roasted potatoes are also very tasty, but the koshary is too good to miss. Try it, you won't regret it. Sorry I didn't take any pictures, the food smelled so good driving home I didn't stop to take pictures, and there are no leftovers :p

Alaeddine B.

Yelp
Customer service was great, we were greeted with a smile and a welcome. Food was good, decent, however it was a bit pricey for the amount of food and taste. The mixed grill was $36 which in my opinion was more than you'd expect for the quality. Overall, not too bad, May try a different dish I'm the future.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Every dish was amazing and the owner was so warm and welcome. Will definitely be heading back

Yelp
About a 1-1.5: Fava Pot is an Egyptian eatery, nestled in Falls Church. They also have a food truck and two other locations in Dupont Circle and in Union Market. We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered the following: +Fava Pot's Signature Olives - black olives, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh red hot peppers with zaatar sprinkling +Roasted Potatoes - roasted red potatoes marinated in olive oil, zaatar, spice blend, rosemary, garlic, and lime - more on the bland side, considering the seasonings stated to be used +Spicy Feta Cheese - feta cheese spread with jalapenos, lime, garlic, tomatoes, cumin, and olive oil; served with bread +Eat Like an Egyptian: Chef's Choice - this came with fava beans, koshary, baba ganoush, hummus, falafels, pickled eggplant, grape leaves, Egyptian fried chicken, kofta, lamb chop, Egyptian-style liver, Egyptian rice, artichoke, molokheya, and loves of Egyptian bread - wasn't really enough for 2 people who have a modest appetite; seems to be more for a 1 individual +Om Ali Pudding - traditional Egyptian bread pudding made with milk, cream, puff pastry, raisins, pistachios, and coconut, sweetened with cane sugar - very soupy and liquid-y +Pistachio Baklava - flaky phyllo dough stuffed with chopped pistachios and honey syrup +Egyptian Chai Latte - very watered down and mostly 'hot water' +Egyptian Coffee - with cardamom - extremely bitter and seemed to be fresh The food, overall, was okay - while the chef's choice platter that we ordered was stated to be more than enough for 2 people, I felt as if it was more of a generous portion for 1 individual. Not sure if they were skimping out on the portions due to it being lunch or if they were not paying attention due to the online orders coming in. When we came in, we had to order online through our mobile, by scanning the QR code located at the table. Even with this, some of the items that we had place never came out, and we had to remind who seems like the owner several times. It just seemed as if those who chose to dine-in were an afterthought, and the online orders coming in were made a priority. Maybe we had expected this place to be a bit more, but our experience was a bit disappointing; glad we were finally able to check this place out, but wouldn't return. +lack of quality control on food/beverages +lack of service +online orders are a priority +plenty of parking in plaza lot

Lily H.

Yelp
We enjoyed a dinner so much, we went back for brunch food just a few days later. We tried the gollash, stuffed grape leaves, and a grill platter for dinner. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. We tried a warmed up om ali pudding for dessert, which was such a different nice twist to a traditional bread pudding. Only downside was some of the food wasn't hot hot - gollash and the pudding was warm in some areas but still cold in others. The Egyptian breakfast platter is a bountiful plate of deliciousness. I'm not a huge fan of fava beans, but wow could have eaten bowls of theirs! The fava bean falafel is also a nice twist. Lastly, the bread that comes with has the best texture - definitely appreciate hand made. The staff is also super pleasant and nice. We will definitely be back, can't believe we didn't find this place sooner!

M P.

Yelp
Food is pretty decent. No waiters to take your order. Grab your own table card, scan QR code, wait super long for site to load, 35 min later you have your order in. Pay in advance, including 18-22% suggested tip for staff that you've not interacted with yet. The waiter we had also spoke zero English. For whatever is worth, the lack of service reminds me of many places in Cairo... So I guess it's authentic? An unfortunate end for an otherwise great concept (they were even on PBS!)

Bruce B.

Yelp
This is the only Egyptian restaurant around. The food is quite delicious, similar to other middle eastern cuisines.

Dennis T.

Yelp
My experience with Fava Pot was excellent and I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for a unique place to have a lovely dinner at. The food is so authentic and the staff is very nice and welcoming. There's outdoor seating with heat for a beautiful fall evening If you are having dinner for 2, I totally recommend the Eat like an Egyptian entree. It's like 8 portions all on one platter. My favorite was the baha ganoush and the liver (believe it or not!). It was so filling and even me and my partner could not finish it. It looks underwhelming at first but when you start eating it, you'll feel yourself slowing down at it . The only thing I didn't like (which doesn't really ruin the rating or is food related) is how they ask you to order online on your phone. I didn't have service there so it was a bit of a pain to order on my phone and I had to ask for their iPad so I can order. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about their food. It's outstanding!

Tom S.

Yelp
We decided to try Fava Pot (Egyptian / Mediterranean) food. Very friendly and helpful folks. It was recommended by the owners to try "Eat like an Egyptian, chefs choice". Wow, everything on the platter was delicious. I will be back again. I do not work to far away do lunch runs for me! This place is laid back. They cater and there is a food truck as well.

Sandra B.

Yelp
Eating this delightful meal was like receiving a warm hug. That's not what you expect but beyond what you hope for when trying a new place. The staff was very friendly, welcomed us and thanked us for dining, gave us clear instructions on how to order at the table and even how to order when we want to try takeout. Highlights were the chicken in the chicken soup, every item on the Chef's Choice 'Eat like an Egyptian' dish. But one item in particular blew me away - the liver. I am not a liver fan, but the way it was prepared would make me want to order it again. We're so fortunate to have the opportunity to try Egyptian food without traveling far; what a way to be transported to another country without leaving home! We'll definitely be back to try brunch and more.

Sally S.

Yelp
Food was horrible and I got so sick. Molokaya was mostly garlic pieces. Falafel was burnt on outside uncooked on inside. Red Lentil soup was hot water and cumin. Bad & costly, $50 totally not ever going back. Waitress only smiled at me after telling her the soup was horrible.

Naci E.

Yelp
Very clean and very tasty all menu best bread there is including all dc va and all east coast

Erika S.

Yelp
They got the combination of my two favorites: Lamb chops and stuffed grape leaves. However, the meat portion was too small for the price. Other vegetarian dishes were tasty and had good portions, though: Koshary and Fava beans. Iced mint limeade is worth a try. It's fresh and home-made.

Samara S.

Yelp
Such a gem! Wonderful experience from start to finish. I dream about their lamb and kofta daily. So many healthy options. Hibiscus iced tea is a must! Ambiance is so cozy - really unique Egyptian spot!

Ngoc T.

Yelp
You won't regret going to this place! The foods were so flavorful. This was my first time trying Egyptian food and I was very impressed. I recommended this place to several other people and they all loved it. The rice was so unique, very different than Jasmine rice or Basmati rice. I tried the lamb and beef kabob and it was very juicy and tender. Side note: They only take order via their website and it was a long wait time. When you order to go, they don't include the utensils so you have to ask for it. Overall, delicious foods, 100% I recommend trying it.

Nora O.

Yelp
I learned about this cafe through the Too Good To Go app. It was my first time using the app to order a magic bag and my first time coming to this cafe. Although not a vegan myself, I am a huge supporter of vegan restaurants and vegan products. I ordered two magic bags through the Too Good to Go app. If you're not familiar with the app, it helps restaurants save food from being thrown away. They sell food portions at a discounted price once they feel like the food should be consumed soon and is not ideal for sale the next day. You don't know what's going to be in your bag, so it's a surprise! Hence the term "magic bag". Fava Pot didn't disappoint. My magic bags were two koshary bowls. The koshary bowl comes with lentils, Egyptian rice, chickpeas, pasta, tomato sauce and caramelized onions. You can add falafel, chicken or kofta for an additional value. The bowl usually sells for $12 and I got them for $4.99 each through the Too Good to go App. When I picked up, the food was warm and there was plenty! The food smelled so good throughout my ride home that I couldn't way to try it. Once I got home I added some avocado and had some for dinner. I'd like to give Fava Pot a shout out for participating in an initiative that reduces food waste. I'd love to go back to their cafe and try other meals!

Yelp
Walked in for the first time today and I believe the owner greeted us and led us to a table. We ordered the "Eat like an Egyptian: Chef's Choice" between two people. She stopped by and asked us how everything was and if it was our first time eating there. She delightfully went over every item on the platter and was genuinely excited to share her knowledge of the food. I could clearly see she loves her restaurant and the ability to share a part of her culture. The chef's choice was more than enough for two people and we had to pack it up for leftovers. She stopped by to let us know some tips on how to reheat the items. We also ordered some desserts, which she again stopped by to explain what was in each item. I definitely enjoyed learning more of Egyptian cuisine as it was my first time trying it. The owner was a gem and clearly takes pride in the cooking and sharing of Egyptian cuisine. Looking forward to trying their breakfast next time!

I haven't eaten in yet, but the takeaway game is great. The chicken kabob is excellent - def get an extra garlic whip, you'll want it. The falafel is the best I've had and the hummus is so fresh and tasty.

Yelp
The best Egyptian food I have ever had.... And I should know, I'm Egyptian! Incredibly authentic. I took one sip of the Egyptian style lime drink and started to tear up. I had a flush of memories of my grandma in the motherland. You can't get more authentic than that!

Yelp
Fava Pot was always a favorite food truck of mine and I'm glad I finally got to try out their brick and mortar location. It small but very cute with super friendly staff. I ordered enough for leftovers: pita with za'atar, fava beans, Cornish game hen platter (with toum, mixed greens, and potatoes), and pistachio baklava. I didn't care for the fava beans--I'm sure they are great, but I think there is a seasoning or something in there that I didn't like. I've not eaten fava beans before, but aside from a Tarbais or flageolet, I haven't met a bean I didn't love, so thinking it was the seasoning. And the pistachio baklava is brought in from an outside bakery, so it was fine, but not spectacular. However, the pita with za'atar was hot and chewy, and covered with plenty of za'atar, one of my favorite seasonings. And the Cornish game hen platter is what I used to get at the truck. The chicken is so tender and flavorful, especially once the toum is added. And the potatoes are perfect. I love that they have a filling, savory breakfast menu and I aim to go back and try that (though they open at 9 so it will be second breakfast), along with kabobs and lamb from the main menu. Glad to have Fava Pot somewhat nearby.
