FB Slim's is one of four bars permeating Fontainebleau Las Vegas' Oasis Pool Deck. It's located on the western end of the pool deck somewhere between the Grand Pool, a yet-to-be-opened restaurant and LIV Beach.
After ordering a couple of drinks from the Bleau Isle Bar on the opening day of my stay, I decided to visit FB Slim's on my second day (and La Cote on my final day). The service was quite friendly there and I actually chatted up some pleasant conversation with my bartender there in the 45 minutes I was perched there. =)
I first decided to order a Miami Vice: because the way I looked at it, how can you NOT order a Miami Vice to pay homage to Fontainebleau's flagship location in Miami Beach? It's pretty much mandatory I ordered a Miami Vice at some point of my stay, and that felt like the right place, right time. It was quite tasty and refreshing, definitely one of the better Miami Vices I've had in all recent memory in that it wasn't watered down nor packed unnecessarily with much added sugar. Both the strawberry and citrusy juices weren't overpowered by the coconut nor rum and was just very well crafted. =)
Then I urged a recommendation for a specialty cocktail from my bartender. He advised me to try the Bella Donna: which I did and consists of Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint Vodka, elderflower, lemon and soda water. And he wasn't kidding around: a 109-degree summer afternoon like this was PERFECT for a refreshing cucumber drink. Absolutely the right call! =D
The only reason I'm giving FB Slim's four stars as opposed to five.............is because the poolside bars at the Oasis Pool Deck have a sort of interchangeable feel and motif and essentially all share the same specialty cocktail and food menu, as well as have very similar ambience. So it isn't going to make for the most memorable, signature sort of experience in that you can get the same drinks and nearly the same atmosphere at Bleau Isle Bar or the Pool Casino Bar as you would at FB Slim's. I did read in advance of my stay that FB Slim's apparently had a booze cart as well as served spiked popsicles, but when I inquired the bartender about those he expressed doubt about that. No big deal, but I definitely think that would be a most welcome addition to FB Slim's if it hasn't happened already, and I also would invite FB Slim's to experiment more with its decor and theming to set itself apart a bit more from the other pool bars. =)
All in all though it's a cool place to get out of the intense Vegas sun for a little bit and enjoy some refreshing cocktails. =)
