I have to say, as many times as we have come here, tonight was the most disappointing. Your only saving grace was Gio, our waiter.
I wish I had taken photos of the food and recorded the ugliness of the manager on duty tonight.
I chose to spend my Mother's Day dinner here because we absolutely love this place and all it stands for. (Supporting other businesses, supporting your community and those parties that you support in the political arena). Tonight, you failed us.
The crab cake I ordered (and is one of the reasons I come here; that and service) was burnt. On both sides. This was my dinner. I apologetically sent it back knowing what the crab cake looks like and tastes like. The second one brought to me, was pretty much the burnt removed, and the asparagus peeled to nubs.
The chicken fried chicken was like a small piece of a chicken tender, the gravy was hardened because it sat there for so long before being served.
Now here's where my evening (Mother's Day, mind you) went in a downward spiral. Your manager on duty, Taylor, came over to bring the crab cake, we mentioned about the serving temperature of the chicken dish. She proceeded to be VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Pretty much called my husband a liar and walked away when he was still speaking. This was the SECOND time she did this...walked away when we were speaking. I can tell you, our sweet waiter could only apologize. She ruined my desire to finish my meal that your cooks burnt and "replaced" with fresh. I asked Gio to pack it up because I was so flabbergasted at the way we were treated I had lost my appetite.
Not only that but instead of seating us in the main dining room, (which when we called for reservations, we were told a high top or the table by the kitchen, we said the high top will be fine. Which we did not get) we were shoved in the bar in the furthest corner of the room.
I cannot tell you how horrible Taylor was. I cannot ever fathom anyone speaking to a customer the way she did. We do not look for a free pass. We only wanted to advise that the kitchen staff had sent out cold food. She argued "we checked the temperature of the chicken..." that was not what my husband had conveyed. When there is a crust over the white gravy and cold to the touch, it doesn't mean the food is undercooked. It means THE FOOD CAME OUT COLD!
And by free pass, I mean, we don't ever ask for a free meal. My son got the Mother's Day meal and his pecan crusted red snapper was dry. My daughter, who really enjoyed her French dip, shared it with her brother. My husband, whose chicken fried chicken came out cold, ate the snapper so food did not go to waste. We ate it, we paid for it.
I am VERY disappointed in the overall experience. I can say, Gio, our waiter was very embarrassed for us and very apologetic, which he had absolutely no reason to apologize but he did.
I would say it'd be a cold day in hell before I ever go back BUT because I know this is NOT typical of Federal Grill, we will return. Next time though, I will call ahead and make sure Taylor is not working because if she is, we will spend our time and money at a restaurant who appreciates their patrons.
