I recently visited this restaurant and ordered fried seafood rice, fried shrimp noodles, and a pineapple ice cream. The food was decent, but the pricing left me disappointed. The total came to around $65, which seemed reasonable at first. However, I later realized that a service charge of about $10 had already been included in the bill—something that wasn’t clearly mentioned when it was presented. Not knowing this, I added a 15% tip on top, essentially tipping twice. I wish the staff had pointed out the automatic service charge, as transparency in billing is important. While I enjoyed the meal, this lack of clarity made the overall experience less enjoyable. I’d recommend checking your bill carefully before tipping.

Great food. Great price. Not so happy either customer service. Felt like they just want to finish their job and wait for us to get out of the restaurant. And they recently added a percentage of the final bill as tip. Didn’t felt it right. But the food is amazing. Quantity is good. Price is good.

My first time trying Hakka food. I came when they first opened at 11am on Saturday. I'm not sure if I have the best first impression. The staff were running behind schedule preparing the restaurant for service. It was difficult getting the servers attention because they were busy still preparing the restaurant. I got the Combo for one and sampled many things, but I only enjoy the sweet and sour chicken balls. The servers could be more attentive to their guests. I hope to try Hakka food again someday.

I tried Frederick Restaurant for lunch today. It’s been around for years and is a go-to spot for Hakka Chinese food. They offer a great deal on lunch specials, with 10 options for under 10 dollars before tax and tip. I ordered the chili chicken but asked for the dry version, as I find many Hakka restaurants make chili chicken too saucy and soggy. This dish was well-cooked, though a bit on the salty side. I felt it needed some acidity, and after adding vinegar with chilis, the dish was much better balanced. A word of caution: those chilis are quite hot, slightly hotter than a jalapeño. Overall, I enjoyed the lunch, and for the price, I don't think you can find a better deal.

We visited this restaurant 31st dec 2024 and tried the crispy ginger beef, shrimp pakoda, and mee goreng noodles. Crispy Ginger Beef: 4/5. The dish was good, but it lacked the strong ginger flavor we expected. Shrimp Pakoda: 3/5. It was okay, but could be better. Mee Goreng Noodles: 1/5. The flavor and seasoning were poorly done, and the noodles were too thick. We returned the dish, and they accepted the return. Overall, some dishes were good, but others need improvement.

The place is small but enough tables. Ordered several dishes to try. I was looking forward to their hakka chow mein as I’ve enjoyed it at other places but it did not reach the level I wanted. The noodles are different from what I have tried (too soft) and the entire dish was bland. The mixed pakora which came with chicken, shrimps and fish had flavour but found some parts of the batter to be on the harder side to bite through. The chili fish was too heavily sauced. The dish came with a bowl of regular steamed rice. Ordered Manchurian fried rice to be on the wetter side and was not as good as I had hoped. The only item that added flavour to all the food was the vinegar with sliced fresh chilis they had in a jar. We also ordered spicy fried calamari and the texture was good but the batter was not the best. I was looking forward to trying the food at this place as it was recommended but it did not meet my expectations. It lacked quality and execution. They do ,however, give plenty of portions and fair prices. Service was also good. Food here just need more attention with the flavour and texture of the food.

Used to work here around 10 years ago when I was a student and the food was pretty amazing back then. Decided to try their chicken pakora tonight after a long time and was disappointed to say the least, it was dry and lack flavours but if you don’t care about the taste and quality, the portion is quite large for $14 plus tax. Keep in mind that if your bill is under $30 they will charge you extra $2 to use credit card which is ridiculous

Have been a long time patron of this restaurant (25 years plus). Ordered chicken wings from here, as we always have. The wings had extra batter and were raw, in spite of asking them to be prepared "well done." Called the restaurant to advise of the raw chicken wings. Was told to bring them back. Requested a credit and was refused as they insisted I bring the wings back. I live 20 mins away, which made this Request unreasonable generally and certainly, in the circumstances. Management could care less. This is not the manner in which any patron should be treated especially when there is a risk of food poisoning. Order from here at your own risk.
