Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah, and Apple Launch America’s Food Fund | Eater

"A GoFundMe-based national relief fund launched by high-profile donors (including Leonardo DiCaprio, Laurene Powell Jobs and Apple, with initial seed money from the Ford Foundation) to address the country’s food-access crisis; seeded with a reported $12 million and publicly supported by additional donations such as a $1 million pledge from a prominent media figure, the fund is intended to funnel resources to frontline meal-cooking and distribution efforts, partner with organizations and businesses to map food gaps, and provide rapid support where food banks and government relief are falling short." - Jaya Saxena

Went there for the first time yesterday I had to drive an hour to get there. Recommended by Snap program ended up waiting for an hour leaving with a sunburn with a bag of moldy bread, one avocado and one stock of celery. It’s sad how much the CEO makes, and yet the homeless are starving

I walked in, not knowing what to expect. i have never used a food bank before. I sat down and waited roughly 15 minutes, then they brought a huge box full of food and offered to carry it to my car. I expected so much more hassle; paperwork, copies of copies, more paperwork, etc. The employees and volunteers were so nice, and gracious, and it really was that simple. thank you so much for being there in my family's time of need.

Google
This organization has tremendous ethics with all possible funds and donations going straight to the food made available to the local community (citizens). The staff is amazing and the volunteers are a true blessing. I would encourage anyone interested in volunterring or making a donation (no matter the size - every $1.00 helps to feed 6 meals) to contact Heather Monroe at the food back via their website

This food bank is a blessing to our organization. The food we donate helps a lot of families with foster children. Everyone in the establishment is welcoming and I'm always greeted with a smile and a "How you doing"..Keep up the good work. Thank you for all the blessings.

Google
Friendly caring helpful but felt like another poor person who needs to help themselves instead of getting free food to help us out. Wasn't said but the vibe. Asked questions but short answers. And was in a hurry for us to leave. Its hard to ask for help but to be made to feel like that wasn't nice and my husband has a job but work can slow down.

Yelp
Awesome place, awesome people. I been myself started a non profit where I been giving out food to the homeless and offering supplies out of pocket along with my son since February this year. When I found out about this place through a lady who saw me passing out sandwiches, I couldn't help but extend a hand. So I called and spoke with Luis to see how I could be of assistance and find out about receiving food myself to pass out and this guy and Ms. Ludo were very informative. So me and my son got a rental, headed to the food pantry, and loaded the car up for a trip to the high desert! For those interested in helping this place will guide you every step of the way to make sure you got everything needed. From how to online guides, waiver forums, etc. They even have it mobile app friendly! Just make sure to start early if you're doing deliveries to people's houses so you can see where you're going and to beat the heat. Great bonding and learning experience for me and my son but not only that just a blessing there's a company likes this available to offer such services.

Yelp
Been volunteering here for a couple years now...it's always enjoyable and rewarding to give back and help the community. My sister and I usually volunteer the afternoon shift which Iasts for 3 hours, when we have free time. They always need volunteers as they are constantly receiving donations from everywhere (locally) and items/food need to be sorted, boxed, etc. They have a very organized system and the employees are extremely friendly and professional.

Yelp
Wow... it has been one year since my last review. Thought I give an updated review with some pictures. Today on a Wednesday, I am grateful I get to volunteer for Feeding America (FA) in Riverside once again. It is such a great cause to contribute to. I have been here before a few times last year. They mostly have weekday shifts. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Once in awhile they'll have a weekend shift. I wish they would offer more weekend shifts... I would be here in a heartbeat. You know I would LOL. Anyhoo, my company gives each employee 8 volunteer hours per year. So I take advantage of the opportunity. I try to use up all 8 hours if I can. If it's not for Feeding America... it's for David and Margaret or Habitat for Humanity or United Way or any non-profit organization. I love to give my time to support our communities whenever I can. When I retire, that's what I'll be doing daily LOL. We had about 10-12 volunteers today which is a good size group. The FA staff is always friendly and pleasant. Evelen and Luis are fantastic. They will help answer any questions you may have during your shift. Just lovely people. I also met a wonderful older gentleman who is a team lead here. Thank you so much Evelen, Luis, and Richard for making my volunteer visit easy and fun today! If you have some free time out of your week, come on over and contribute to FA Riverside... a great cause worth every minute. They have other locations, too. Please note you'll have to register online for your shift before heading over here or there. Thank you first for your time and support! Remember... it's not work when you do what you love... have fun! Happy Volunteering!

Yelp
If you have time to give back to the community, this is one of the best places to help those in need. I've been volunteering for Feeding America for a little over a decade and there is such an incredible energy to this location. The staff is kind and heart warming, that creates a beautiful environment that people should take an opportunity to contribute too. Always remember that the hours you put is helping someone in need. So roll up your sleeves, embrace the task at hand and make sure to lift with your legs. p.s. please have events or volunteer hours for the weekend, I'd love the chance to put some hours in~

Yelp
EXPIRED FOOD!!!!!!!! I got ground meat from here on Tuesday, Fecruaty 4, 2020 and after cooking it and eating it I realized it had a weird flavor, when I check the packaging it came in for the expiration date it says it expired on April 25, 2018!!!!!!!! I truly can't believe it, this is the food they give to people in need and it's been expired for almost two years!!!! This is truly sickening. I will be filing a formal complaint. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!!!!

Yelp
This place is great during this pandemic, they are amazing, friendly and have great volunteers. The food is fresh and they give you information on how to interpret the shelf life of the items you receive and request. Everyone is so nice and helps each other out when on site to load and get people in and out.

Yelp
Feeding America, what can I say. Vanessa came through for us again. Donating to all three Veteran Villages in the Inland Empire today. Each village has a food pantry that we ( Vietnam Veterans Of America) help supply. Today Feeding America came through again. The veterans at each location will know the food came from you. What a great outfit.

Yelp
Great place to Volunteer with your family or a small group. Staff is friendly and very appreciative. And they always need help. So look them up, call or email and donate a few hours of your time for a great organization that serves hungry families right here in our own community.

Yelp
Please volunteer here! They do great work here, and need volunteers to help with the community. Very organized and they have a fantastic system for unpackaging and repackaging. You will definitely feel a great sense pride knowing that you are helping your community!

Yelp
I love coming here to volunteer! Just knowing that you're doing something that will benefit a family in need is like no other feeling. We don't know how truly blessed we are. I always bring my kids so they know how important it is to give back to the community.

Yelp
It was our fist time volunteering at Feeding America Distribution center. We had a wonderful experience boxing food to help families in need, locally and in remote areas. The staff was extremely friendly and appreciative. It was a great way to donate time to help our community.

Yelp
This place is awful! I walk in and am directed to the office after stating that I'm here in need of food. I talk to the stupid early 20s girl with the glasses at the desk and tell her I'm in need for food and she says okay, we can get you a food box but it's only once per year! I said, wait, you guys are listed as a food bank online and a few reviews from others stated they have received food from here. She argued with me about the place being a distribution only and then proceeded to show me a list of food banks in the area. She said, try this place it's just around the corner. I'm sitting there thinking, didn't you just tell me you could give me a food box? She then proceeds to call the other place and tells them she's "sending me their way." I get to the other place and the guy tells me they don't have any food and he told her that on the phone. I come back to this awful place and everyone is on break. The same stupid girl pokes her head out from the break room and says, what happened? I told her that I went there and the guy told me he had no food and that he told her that! She then rolls her eyes and I was pissed by this time. I told her that I have a family of 5 to feed and this is supposed to be feeding America!!! She then tells me to wait and for 15 minutes the workers were talking about food and you can smell what they were warming up right in front of me. Obviously these people have no compassion and don't know what it is to be hungry. Maybe one day they will find out. Don't come here, they aren't feeding nobody.
