Supper Series: 5 Wanton Mee Stalls In Singapore That Open Till Late

"Most will remember this stall as one of two in the battle of wanton mee along Joo Chiat Road. Here, the unassuming bowl of wanton mee hides treasures such as fried wantons and tender slices of char siu under the plain-looking noodles. Best doused with the red chilli sauce served with the dish." - Meryl Koh

Tried Fei Fei Wanton Noodle at Joo Chiat after hearing about its long-standing reputation, but unfortunately our experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. We ordered a large wanton noodle and a bowl of 馄饨汤 (wanton soup). The wanton soup itself was decent — the dumplings were generously sized and adequately filled, and the soup was light and drinkable, though fairly standard and not particularly memorable. The main disappointment was the wanton noodles. The noodles lacked spring and fragrance, and the seasoning felt flat and one-dimensional. There was little depth in the sauce, which made the dish taste rather bland despite being a “large” portion. The char siew and accompanying ingredients didn’t elevate the dish either, leaving the overall bowl underwhelming compared to other wanton noodle stalls in Singapore. Given Fei Fei’s reputation and the competitive food scene in Joo Chiat, this was a letdown. It wasn’t inedible, but it didn’t justify the hype or make us want to return specifically for the noodles. That said, tastes are subjective, and others may still enjoy it for nostalgia or familiarity. For us, however, it fell short, especially when better wanton noodles can be found nearby.

4 years no come. Been eating for 20 years on and off. Now they relocated to new shoplot same road. Price has went up but portion now more too. Very full. Inflation is real. Their self made noodle still taste proprietary, tangy but overall less salty than in the past. Also selling nasi lemak & beer now. Good place for supper as ample seats and parking late in the night. Business is good. Customers non stop walk in & take away at 11pm now.

Not worth the price if you are looking for value for money wantan noodles. Place is modernised and easy to find. All younger adults serving you. No more the traditional feel where the uncles and aunties will cook for you. Prices are not made known to you until you see the receipt.

It had been a while since I last had their noodles, back when they were at their old location. I used to love them, but the place felt run-down and the quality seemed to decline. I was pleasantly surprised by my recent visit to their new spot. The restaurant is clean and air-conditioned, and the noodles were really good—firm and not too heavy. The meatballs were served piping hot, making the whole bowl very enjoyable. This is truly one of Singapore's legacy food places that has stood the test of time.

Ordered a medium dry wanton noodle with chilli. Service was fast Firstly the noodle is bland , charsiew has little taste and chewy... the wanton in the soup was the saving grace .at least it had taste. Pricy and ill give it a miss the next time.

The noodles was super blend and I had to put extra chili sauce so that I could force myself to eat. The Char Siew was blend and hard. During the old days, the noodles was far far better. I was yearning for so long till finally I had time today to head down for supper at 8.30pm. Guess I will have to hunt for the next night wanton noodles. Not coming ever again.

The noodles had a nice springy texture and were tossed in a flavourful sauce that leaned more on the savoury side, though slightly sweeter compared to the usual. The char siew was tender but could have been a little more caramelised for that extra bite. The wantons were plump with a decent filling, and the soup on the side was light yet comforting. Overall, it’s a nostalgic bowl that brings back old-school flavours. While it may not be the most outstanding wanton noodles I’ve tried, it definitely has its own charm and character, especially if you enjoy a slightly sweeter sauce base. Worth a try if you’re in the area and craving a classic.

Super Blend ... noodle! i bought 2 normal take away & 1 big portion(there only add noodle) eat there.. no fragrance for their chili too & the price for this will say is super expensive for 3 bowls. Maybe the price is to only pay for rented and aircon! Not worth the price for this kind of noodles. Saw reviews also say the standard drop a lot. I wont go again. the one at my neighbourhood taste nicer.
