Where to Find the Best Pasta Dishes in Rome, Italy | Eater

"A Testaccio institution for cacio e pepe prepared tableside: fresh-egg tonnarelli are tossed with a bit of cooking water, generous pecorino, and a bold hit of black pepper to produce a rendition that sits between old-school restraint and modern creaminess—just creamy enough to curl around the fork while still peppery." - Rachel Roddy

This place was the vibe! Non touristy, large families/friends dining, having a laugh, the hosts/waiters all so sweet, helpful, welcoming and last but not the least, The food.. loved the pastas, the eggplant appetizer, the wine recommendations, the tiramisu (could have done without the chocolate sauce)everything was fantastic. Highly recommend to have a reservation for this place.

This place was recommended to us by a friend from Rome. Can’t say I was impressed. Food: The antipasti were not great. The polpettine (€15) was dry, tasteless and served with mashed potatoes. The Arancini (€4/pc) were lacking in taste and the rice was dry and hard. The Bufala (€12) was good but like the other dishes “there was no love in the dish”. Look at it. Two balls of moz on a plate with a leaf. The pastas were good but very heavy. They were a good amount and flavorful but mostly salty. We had the Gricia(€16), Cacio e Pepe(€19), Carbonara(€17), and Amatriciana(€16). The latter was the best. Service: There was an odd atmosphere among the staff. Not a nice one. Tasks were devided. One took our food order while another took our drink order. And in that order. When the wine came the cooler was then served by yet a third guy. You have to pay for bread (even if you don’t ask for any) but there is no copperto charge. Our appetizers were put on the table on top of other dishes and the plates that came with them were placed stacked on a corner of the table. “That’s the Italian way” exclaimed the “food” waiter. When the mozzarella was served he claimed loudly “they are fresh”! I replied well I hope so! (For that price I thought with it). Maine arrived while all the plates were still on the table! They asked if I wanted coffee and left before I could answer. Altogether not good service! Atmosphere: The inside restaurant was a good looking place and the outside terrace where we had our meal was cozy and well lit. It was in a covered piece of parking lot outside the restaurant like you see so much in Italy. I would give them 2,5 stars if it was possible. And recommend you find another authentic place in the vicinity to eat the 4 true Roman pasta dishes.

Loved this place as it was the perfect dinner place! The Cacio e Pepe was superb and the Tiramisu was to die for! It’s a must have in the glass container jar to finalize your wonderful evening! Definitely highly recommend!

Google
Overall, our experience at Felice a Testaccio was good, but it didn’t quite meet expectations. The pasta was excellent, but other dishes fell short. The wine selection was solid, though overpriced compared to similar wines at other Roman restaurants. Service was mostly attentive and friendly, but a few staff members, especially the one managing the outdoor area and handling payments, were rude and rushed us through the meal. The general atmosphere was pleasant, but the bathrooms were surprisingly unclean, which took away from the overall experience.

Google
Incredible food and amazing service. The only issue I had was with the steak which seemed to have a bit more gristle and unchewable parts than I'm used to but overall, it was an amazing meal. The pastas were perfection.

Stopped at Felice a Testaccio as soon as we arrived in Rome and it was the perfect start. The cacio e pepe was incredible, they mix it at your table and it’s everything you want it to be. The ravioli was fresh, light, and full of flavour. Proper Roman food, done right.

Google
Do NOT be fooled by the positive reviews of Felice a Testaccio. The service was okay, even though it took a while until we could order (it was quite busy, so it’s understandable). Because we booked our table outdoors, it was quite loud and many guests were smoking. For a non-smoker, it wasn’t unbearable but was definitely unpleasant. However, The main problem lied in the food. The carbonara was so salty to the point where it was inedible, the sautéed vegetables the waiter recommended were bitter and strange in taste, and the roast lamb was dry and tough. The food wasn’t particularly overpriced, but the taste of the dishes we received definitely didn’t match with the price it was offered at. Don’t recommend going here at all.

A Truly Unforgettable Dining Experience at Felice a Testaccio – A Must-Visit in Rome Today, I had the pleasure of dining at Felice a Testaccio in Rome, and I can confidently say it was one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in the city. Being Friday, the restaurant featured an exquisite selection of fresh fish on their menu, each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From start to finish, every course was perfectly executed — a true celebration of Roman tradition with a refined modern touch. The wine selection was equally impressive. The bottle recommended to us paired beautifully with the meal and elevated the entire dining experience. The team clearly knows their wine and takes great care in curating options that complement the cuisine. A special thanks to Juppy and Simone — their warmth, attention to detail, and professionalism made us feel exceptionally welcome. Their passion for hospitality is evident and greatly appreciated. If you’re in Rome and looking for a place that combines authenticity, quality, and outstanding service, look no further than Felice a Testaccio. This is not just a restaurant — it’s a true Roman experience that deserves to be shared and celebrated. I highly recommend it and will certainly be returning.

Yelp
The Cacio e Pepe here is unmatched!!!! All the adjectives in the world are not enough to describe this dish. They toss it right in front of you as well

Yelp
Fantastico. Started off a little slow but service picked up and was attentive throughout. Two different waiters, one for drinks and another for food. The host/head confirmed that everything was okay with us at the end which was a nice touch. Honestly every dish was amazing to me. From apps to dolce, each was superb. I very much like the artichoke which was cooked to perfection, tender and good flavor. Can't go wrong with any of their pasta dishes. The meatballs tomato sauce was succulent, great for dipping your bread also. The semifreddi desert is a must try. There was an issue with double charged for wine but that was quickly resolved. Great atmosphere and enjoyable. I would return.

Yelp
My wife and I were in the area and were trying to get into another restaurant but the reservations a full so we wandered around and found Felice a Testaccio. This place has been around for a lot of years and we are glad we went here. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They serve good crusty bread to start with along with the oilve oil and balslamic vinegar. We shared the Bufala mozzarella appetizer, I had a green salad and finally tried the Cacio de Pepe for my main course. My wife had the carbonara. I downed a half bottle of the house Chianti which was very tasty. The staff told us they have other locations and are soon opening one in Torino later this year. This place is a gem and great to try.

Yelp
Yes, they have the best cacio e pepe I've had in Rome so far, but too bad the service was not up to par. At first, I thought it was because it was a busy night, but then I started to realize the waitress may have just had something against us. We were seated before the table next to us but their orders were taken first. We finished our meal before the table next to us, but they were able to place their dessert orders before us. So after about 45 minutes of waiting, we got our servers' attention. She never came back. Finally, my son hailed another server over, and we were able to place our dessert orders.

Yelp
Food (3 out of 5) -- we made the trip to Felice a Testaccio for their famous Cacio e Pepe. Sadly, we were disappointed. The cheese and pepper were out of balance with too much cheese and no pepper flavor. There is a lot of focus at Felice on the presentation with the dish brought to the table with the cheese not having been mixed it. It's a nice presentation by the server making a show of mixing it table side. Unfortunately, in our case this left us with pasta that was cooled off far too much with some cheese not even fully melted and blended into the pasta. Service (3) -- service was better than our food, but still mediocre. Felice strikes me as, unfortunately, another once excellent restaurant that is largely now just getting by based on the momentum of its past success. Atmosphere (3) -- generic and nondescript. We did not come to Felice for the ambiance.

Yelp
My family is native to New York City and visited Italy this summer. I came to Testaccio and was the young man helping the big wheelchair into your restaurant in August. Thank you for your help and delicious food for my father and my family. All the food was amazing and you are good people. You should know your food is desired not just internationally but also globally. People talk about your pasta in several languages, even in New York. Do everything exactly the same! Your food is so good it could be as popular as Rome's Roscioli or Florence's All'antico Vinaio in New York if you wanted. Grazie mille

Yelp
Came here for my birthday last night expecting to be blown away since all the reviews say it's the best. I've been trying cacio e pepe at every spot we've eaten at in Rome (Tonnarello and Da Francesco so far). This was my favorite. It was really executed well and the sauce was perfectly balanced. Their saltimboca and involtini were fantastic too. So why 3 stars? The service was horrendous. I'm not sure if we came on an off night or if they were short staffed or if we experience the widely known racism towards Asians in Rome. We sat for awhile waiting for menus, so that delayed us making up our minds. There was a big table of locals sitting next to us and then they sat another table of Americans that spoke a little Italian a few minutes after us. They tended to those 2 tables before us. The food came out pretty prompt and cleared away after we ate, but we waited for almost 45 minutes before a dessert menu was offered. The table that came after us was offered dessert right away. I know Italian culture tends to wait i between courses to sit, talk and digest but this was way too long. All the servers avoided our area even though I made eye contact with one of them. I didn't have this experience anywhere else on our 2 week trip throughout Italy. In fact the service was phenomenal at both Da Francesco and Tonnarello. Once we did get the dessert menu, the tirimisu was yummy. It's too bad the service took away from the quality of the food. I also don't expect people from another country to try to speak in English, but I found it curious that this was the 1st restaurant that didn't even attempt to try with us. 2 stars for the food but will not recommend this place for the poor/lack of service.

Yelp
The food was amazing as well as the service. All the pasta were well cooked. We loved both the cacio e Pepe which has a light creamy taste and carbonara which has a smoky creamy taste from the bacon. Lamb is super good and it's very well cooked and rich but balanced. Omg the potato with the it is soaked with some sauce and I just could not stop eating. The veal with ham is every good too and it's my first time taste veal layered with ham and the taste is mild and nice. The highlight is the dessert semifreddo that is super smooth and super good.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good. I wouldn't crave any of this but it was fine. The cacio e pepe wa perfectly al dente, but the sauce was broken. The lamb had very little meat - what you see in the picture, that top layer is fairly thin and that's all of the protein. It was probably just over 2 ounces worth. So not enough protein to potato portion. The server was so kind. I expressed I wanted to try the cacio e pepe but also wanted to try the lamb and it was just to much food. He graciously offered me a half portion of the pasta so I could have a full portion of the lamb dish. Very appreciated. The sommelier was also generous with her time and advice. I'm not familiar with all of the Italian wines yet and explained to her my preferences and she recommended a delicious option. I'm terms of ambiance, I sat outside and it was a warm, balmy November evening in Rome under a lit tent. It was a relaxing and an enjoyable place to dine.

Yelp
Service was impeccable. We didn't know who was our designated server because everyone in the restaurant seemed to help one another out. The ambiance was lovely. Quiet, spacious, and actually a decent inside temperature! It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. We ordered the eggplant parm, cacio Pepe, and mixed salad. The mixed salad was very fresh. Apparently the cacio pepe used to be served in a cheese bowl but we weren't that lucky. The pasta was fresh and nicely cooked Al dente. We were too full for dessert but then pleasantly surprised when a serving of meatballs showed up at our table! Very tender and the sauce was perfect.

Richard C.

Yelp
Service with a real attitude. Maybe it is because we are Americans and speak very little Italian, but we felt unwanted. Sat outside with no ambience. Food was 6 or 7 out of 10 and did not live up to the hype. Tried an assortment of dishes, and none were overwhelming. Quite a disappointment!

Anthony Robert B.

Yelp
The pasta was great however we were seated in what looked like a temporary tent annexed to the main restaurant; basically on the pavement outside. The service was very pushy and maybe through cultural stereotyping (for English customers) or a surplus the roast lamb was being coerced - I don't eat lamb but my Wife ordered it and it was a cut of lamb unknown to any man or butcher, greasy and inedible. When it came to the bill the need for a tip in CASH was heavily emphasised. It was our anniversary, we thought it would be nice but frankly it was a big let down in hospitality and food. You might call it an utter failure (apart from the pasta) on every level. I would not go back and I cannot recommend this place 'resting on its laurels' and hubris to anyone.

Yelp
Very good food, with many options to choose from including the wine list. The price was slightly higher compared to others but still good. Service was quick and staff was very attentive and professional even though the place was quite crowded. Nice ambience for the restaurant itself but not so much for the neighborhood.

Food was AWSOME!! Loved everything about this place will definitely come back again! I highly recommend it to everyone!

Yelp
Heard great reviews and had to try it ourselves. And it lived up to the hype. We decided last minute to try Felice a Testaccio so we did not have a reservation. Luckily, they were able to fit us in right before closing. Normally, you'd definitely need a reservation. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, Breaded Cutlets of Lamb with Fried Zucchini, Carbonara, Eggplant Parmesan, and Tiramisu. Honestly, everything tasted wonderful. The Cacio e Pepe stood out the most. It was the best Cacio e Pepe I've ever had. The tiramisu was also so so delicious. They had great service and spoke English really well. I hope to come back in the future and try more items on the menu!

Yelp
This place is all about the food. Located in a non-touristy neighborhood, they serve the most delicious cacio e pepe, probably anywhere. We sat outside as their seatings seem to alternate between inside and outside. The inside is gorgeous. I also had the roast lamb which was perfectly done. The prices are fantastic too. If there is any negative, I think the service a a bit rushed but truly the best of Italian food.

Yelp
We were reading an interview with Eataly CEO Nicola Farinetti about his favorite restaurants in Rome and Felice a Testaccio was at the top of the list. He seems like someone we could listen to, so we made reservations for lunch and we are SO glad we did. Even though the restaurant was full, since we had a reservation we were seated immediately. The service was fast and attentive, one waiter gave us friendly recommendations for dessert and they didn't rush us out, even though the lunch was clearly over and tables around us that showed up after us were leaving before us. After ordering a well-priced Eremo Tuscolano Frascati Superiore, we were quickly served our eggplant parmigiana and an egg frittata, which were both delicate, light and tasty. Our main dishes showed up shortly after we finished the first course and since this was our first visit we decided to order a couple of Roman classics. The Spaghetti alla Carbonara was amazing, with a pervasive taste of the guanciale in every bite. The other was their signature dish, Cacio e Pepe, which I ordered because of my recent obsession with Tonnarelli. When they showed up at the table, I was a little surprised because it looked like the cheese was just dumped on the bowl, but I quickly realized that this was because they did a tableside mixing of the dish, which I loved. This was the best Cacio e Pepe I've eaten in Rome and the Tonnarelli was amazing. We hadn't planned on having dessert here, but due to the quality of the antipasti and main dishes, as well as what we saw coming out of the kitchen, we decided to stay for the dolci. Another great choice because the Tiramisù and the Black Forest cake were definitely worth staying for. It turns out Mr. Farinetti was right and you should definitely check out this fantastic Testaccio destination for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Food was your classic cacio e Pepe! Service was super good. They are super attentive. Ambiance felt romantic and it was low lighting.

Yelp
Before coming to Rome, i was told they had one of the best Cacio e Pepe dishes and had to try. Surprisingly, it was easy to make a reservation at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday after our Colosseum tour. Upon arrival, we were sat immediately, drinks and bread came out right away. Servers are very friendly, but hardly speak English, enough to get by. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, carbonara, grilled fish (came with squid and 2 shrimp), a salad (very basic), and red wine. They mix the Cacio e Pepe by hand when it gets to the table, and it definitely was the best I've ever had! Al dente noodles, perfect peppery flavor, just the right amount of Pecorino cheese, for the most flavorful and fulfilling dish. Interestingly, in Italy, the first course is the pasta and you don't get your salad or main course in our case the fish till after the pasta is served and eaten,Ii was so confused, i thought they forgot my food. They have certain dishes only available on certain days, I included a picture of Tuesday, the day we went. The fish was good, had a lot of bones, carbonara my hubby really liked, and my son loved his Tonnarelli burro, Sugi e parmigiano.

Yelp
Must get the Cacio e Pepe, no question about it. Thanks for a great meal, hopefully we'll be back one day!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Roma. The menu is Amazing... Vera Cucina italiana. Del primero al último plato fueron espectaculares !!!

Yelp
The cacio e pepe was SO good!!! And the prices are incredibly reasonable for what the restaurant offers. Only spent two nights in Rome and we ate here both nights. Delicious food, great ambiance, and a great staff!

Sandra S.

Yelp
Considered one of the best in Testaccio, the new food Mecca. Great pasta with some creative, unique choices and reasonable cost. Excellent portions. Wine list a bit pricey for Italy but lots on offer. Service was excellent if a bit bustling. Shared a salad and a dessert, which was fine. Reservations a must; can be made easily online. Worth a try!!!

Joe M.

Yelp
We went to dinner with a larger group from the US. The food was very good and the ambiance was excellent. The service wasn't great and half of our group had to wait 15 minutes to get their starters after the first part of the group had received them. We didn't feel like we were welcome and we seemed to bother the service personnel who appeared to make fun of us. They repeatedly asked us to make sure we leave a tip which was annoying. We didn't feel welcome and we wouldn't go back.

Teresa P.

Yelp
We were very excited to try this "local Roman Favorite" on December 29 But wound up disappointed. The food was OK, although the carbonara was very good. However, the service and attitude of the waiter and restaurant staff will leave a bad taste in your mouth. To top it off, our waiter tricked us and upcharged us for our pasta. We ordered three plates of pasta at €16 each to share along with the rest of our meal and he offered to split them for us. We agreed, even though we were 3 couples and didn't mind sharing. On the bill, he charged us €11 for For each half, an extra six euros for splitting the plates. He was very upset when he only got a five euro tip in reality he shouldn't have received anything.

Koda L.

Yelp
It was good- I think it was not worth the hype it seemed very American and touristy but the people were nice and let us in without a reservation

Maria G.

Yelp
The most amazing Italian experience I have ever had. The coacción peppe and carbonata are absolutely amazing!!!!

Yelp
Heard a lot of great things about Felice and we were excited to dine here. Dinner was underwhelming. Most of the clientele are tourist so you would think the staff would be more friendly. They are known for their pasta especially their Cacio Di Pepe which was just ok. Everything we ordered were served at room temp like the kitchen had it sitting there. We were three woman and they seated us right next to the door which was not ideal this table shouldn't even exist. Listening to customers coming in with reservations they treat everyone like it's a privilege to dine here. It's not I say skip it.

Vince B.

Yelp
The food was ok to good. but the service was terrible, and I'm writing as someone who has been living in Roma for 5+ weeks now. We were looking forward to eating at this legend but the chaotic service marred the meal. We spent about 100 E for two incl a nice bottle of wine. My wife ordered lamb as a secundi but waiters kept trying to wrap us up with coffee or dessert. This happened 2-3 times. Then finally another waiter came to say the lamb was gone. She substituted veal but the chaos of them not seeming to know what was order d ( not a language issue ) was comical bordering on bad. Save your money and go to another Testaccio place
google avatar

Michael U.

Yelp
Well known for its refined versions of humble Roman classics, Felice a Testaccio has been serving the Testaccio district since 1936, and with reservation offered by phone only the clientele remains largely Italian while service is professional and deliberate. Located at Via Mastro Giorgio 29, with bare-brick walls and subdued colors not dissimilar from other Trattoria throughout the Eternal City, it is shortly after 19h00 that diners are confirmed by paper ledger, seating across three tightly packed rooms soon to follow. Not unknown to tourists, high marks on TripAdvisor seeing at least three tables in the first dining area home to English speakers, menus with translation suggest a wide-range of traditional plates, with staff more than happy to up-sell more pricey dishes such as Lamb, good bottles of Wine and side dishes such as the admittedly impressive Artichokes alla Romana. Also with a location in Milan, both Restaurants offering daily specials and good value, it is under the same family's ownership that Felice a Testaccio has operated for over eighty years, a lengthy wait for Bread soon followed by Cacio e Pepe mixed tableside into a thick and creamy consistency while al dente straws of Bucatini held an ideal amount of Tomato Sauce, Pork Cheek and Pepper. Opting for a third Pasta alongside thinly pounded Veal draped in Ham, the Sauce imbued with Sage helping to tame a significant amount of Salt, those seeking Rome's best Carbonara will definitely wish to compare Felice a Testaccio with Roscioli while the Restaurant's version of Tiramisu takes a slightly different approach than others without much Flour or Sugar but plenty of creamy Custard, Bittersweet Chocolate and Coffee.

Yelp
I had seen a travel vlog of Rome and this restaurant was featured in it. I knew once I saw that vlog I HAD to try Felice on my first night in Rome! Based on reviews, I knew I would either have luck getting a table or get turned away so I reached out to the hotel we stayed at and they were kind enough to book us a reservation for 9:00 pm. We arrived at 8:00 pm and they very kindly seated us promptly. I ordered the famous cacio e pepe and it was everything I dreamed about for a month before my trip to Rome! Just delicious and when paired with the bottle of wine they suggested, even more delicious!! I also sampled my husband's carbonara and my stepdaughter's ravioli (all fresh made pasta bursting with intense flavor!) NOTHING disappointed! Felice is a must try while in Rome, I 110% recommend this restaurant to anyone and first time visitors to Rome like myself.

Denise A.

Yelp
It was overhyped. Very mediocre greasy overcooked food. The artichokes were mushy. The Sunday special pasta was tasteless and greasy. My partner ordered lamb and had to cut through layers of fat. The service was unfriendly and sat us by the toilets. I don't recommend it.

Yelp
Three dishes to keep in mind when visiting this restaurant. Cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper) Abbacchio al forno (roast lamb) Tiramisu This restaurant has been around since 1936 serving traditional Roman food. I came here with a local who has been dining here for over 30 years and I surely enjoyed my dinner. Away from touristy area, reservation is highly recommended. Street parking is limited, try to arrive early as looking for a parking may take a long time. I didn't know but you don't order wine from your server. Server takes care of your food order only. Menu consists of dishes always available plus daily specials depending on which days of the week you visit. Basically you can dine here daily and eat something new each time. Three dishes I mentioned earlier is available all the time and they are listed first on each section. Once pasta is served, a server mixes pasta with cheese at your table. Pasta was cooked perfectly and mixed well with cheese. Service was excellent, they were completely packed but they maintained attentive service throughout the night. Dinner took about only a little over 2 hours as they timed well when serving next dish. My local friend said they made so much improvement over the year. They have a printed menu now and menu has English translation. Apparently they didn't have a printed menu first. Enjoy traditional Roman food here!

Tarek J.

Yelp
Unless you enjoy ironic, condescending, rude, annoying service...... AVOID. WORST SERVICE EVER. Every single member of the team appeared to be going out of their way to make customers feel uncomfortable. If the restaurant's mission is to have the worst service in Rome, they have succeeded. The food is just about ok.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Asked a local friend of ours what's some of his favorite places to eat in Roma and he did not disappoint! It's about a 10 minute ride southeast from the center of Roma but definitely worth the drive! We arrived when it opened and already it started to fill up quick. The staff was very helpful and spoke good English, the menu was in both Italian and English too so it helped with making the choices easier. I had the fish which was cooked perfectly, and each of the calamari slices perfectly cooked all the way through but the prawns was slightly over cooked but I wouldn't complain. The pasta was delightful and smooth and the clams was fresh and scrumptious. But the best part in my opinion was the homemade tiramisu! Each layer was well balanced and the coffee at the bottom was delightful! In all my years of traveling the US I've never had anything like it, if I could I'd have some delivered to the US that would make my day!!

Yelp
Call a few days ahead for reservation. Definitely worth it. Average price for delicious traditional Italian food. Our table had starters then lamb, fish, pasta, then desserts too. Portion size is average/ not huge. Every thing is very rich, lots of flavor! Nice slow pace. One negative -Table was wobbly. Service staff very cheerful..
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not one to start off negative, but.....I simply cannot believe how many whine asses have posted on here about how they didn't get seated without a reservation. To top it all off, many of you act like restaurant gurus. Just because there are open seats doesn't mean they have enough prepared meals or staff to serve you! I'm often embarrassed to be an American in other countries because some of you can be so ugly. Throwing big fits because you didn't get seated without a reservation or, EGAD!, local customers got preferential treatment over someone that is going to eat there maybe once. All that being said, we called at 645pm to see if they had any seats left tonight and they said we could be seated at 730. Yep. That's early by Italian standards but I was happy they agreed to seat us. When we got there, we were seated outside. Inside seemed almost exclusively for locals, and they were packed very early! Still, the staff was attentive and polite. We went for all the normal dishes: The Monday app was stuffed zucchini and we split it. We also split a Cachio e Pepe. Wife had steak. I had the Lamb. Everything was extremely good. Paired with a wonderful local red for 26 euros, and Cappuccinos after, the meal came in right at 100 euros for two, which I thought reasonable for the amount of food we had. Certainly worth it for the how well made the food was. Perhaps some day I'll call ahead far enough to get inside! Haha.

Yelp
We called the restaurant ahead of time for a lunch reservation. After not being able to get through we finally got a reservation for 1pm a couple days later. However when we showed up they had no evidence of our reservation and told us to come back later and they may be able to accommodate us. The host at the front desk tried to tell us we were probably calling the Milan location buuut we showed him the phone number we were dialing and that we talked to a man (aka him) who confirmed the reservation. After some back and forth they sat us. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated. I wanted to have cacio e pepe at least once in Rome and this did the trick! You can tell everything is fresh and made to order. My friend ordered a pasta with red sauce and she enjoyed hers too. Despite the initial confusion I'd definitely recommend this place if you're visiting Rome and call ahead.

Yelp
This is a pretty famous restaurant that deserves all the good things people say about it. On multiple visits spread across three different trips, the food was consistent and outstanding. The Tonarelli Cacio e Pepe was among the best we've ever had and the Ravioli Alla Felice was unique and incredible. On every visit, Da Felice gave us a really memorable meal, even for Italy. The service is excellent, if a bit on the formal side. You definitely need reservations, even for lunch.

Yelp
Ignore anyone who says you can get a table at 7:00, I,e before the Italians eat. This is not true even on a cool off-season evening in damp November. They save no tables for walk-ups, and don't suggest waiting a bit in case of no-shows. The large space was mostly empty and there weren't many people waiting to be seated. To me, flat-out rejecting walk-ups is a snobbish mistake. They literally booted me right out the door without even a "thanks for trekking all the way down here and thinking of us." There are plenty of other places to eat in Rome.

Yelp
Great food, great wine list, but they seem to force all non-italians to very early reservations. Called and asked for a reservation - in Italian - but they figured out we were not locals and insisted on only giving us 7PM reservations (the table had a reservations for locals at 10PM) Just about everyone there at 7PM was not local, but by 9 it was more and more locals coming in. So that was kind of... frustrating... but other than that - it was excellent food - in the top 2 or 3 pastas I had all week in Rome. So give a go but call earllllly for a reservation and hope they give you a real time... Because 7PM in Italy is like having dinner at 5PM or earlier in the US.

Yelp
Food at this restaurant is exceptional. The restaurant opened at 7 pm. We had no dinner reservations after walking a long way to this establishment. They were kind enough to let us use their bathrooms. However after seating everyone with reservations, the hostess told us we could be seated if we would be done by 9 which was more than enough time. We are so glad to have dined here. The cacio e pepe was excellent, mixed right at our table -- quite a show. The lamb was exceptional and the only time I have seen this kind of cut -- a section of the spine (think, the end part of the lamb chop) with one kidney still attached, well grilled and flavored. We also had the steak which we juicy and well cooked. Desserts of tiramisu and creme brulee was good. Service was wonderful.

Yelp
We didn't have a reservation, but figured it would be fine bc it was a Monday. They got us in promptly, Drive was great and the food even better.

Yelp
Four days in on my one week and first time trip to Rome I had pretty good pasta dishes and dinners around the city. My girlfriend and I had heard good things about Felice and their Cacio E Pepe and decided to call in for a reservation. It was an early dinner (7:00 PM) but spots were limited so we took it. After entering we were sat down and we knew to order the Cacio and one more pasta dish (Carbonara). Our server recommended the lamb and potatoes for the secondi. We ordered a small bottle of Merlot red wine as we awaited our dishes. We received the pasta dishes and I've got to say I have not had a better pasta dish on this trip or in my life rather. There was so much texture in the noodles and there was a certain weight to them that felt wholesome with the accompanied flavors. You will not be disappointed ordering either of these. The lamb and potatoes were really good too and surprisingly not that heavy after our first dishes. I highly recommend making your way to this neighborhood to try it and the prices are still pretty decent for the quality of food and service you receive in a not-so-touristy part of Rome.

Yelp
Pretty good restaurant! Fair price. The portions are huge. Really good food. The wine list is small, but you can get a good Barolo for a good price. It is a must go in Rome.

Yelp
Delicious food, a little pricey compared to the rest of Rome, but I think the experience is food. More well known so it can be hard to get recommendation (Call ahead). Cacio e pepe and carbonara are their classic dishes. Try the carciufo alla romana (non-fried carciufo as fried is mostly what you'll find in Rome) and the chicory dish with anchovy (delicious).

Yelp
Got denied service because we are tourists. I would save you money and go to the place called Flavio al Velavevodetto on the block. We walked there after a got denied service with lots of emptied tables. The other place has similar food and great reviews!
