Felipe's Heladeria replaced the Pinkberry at this location (the owners are the same but they decided to change concepts). It's also next to Felipe's Taqueria in case you want a dessert before or after your tacos.
The blue wall, white toppings counter, and three Taylor machines all reminded me of the Pinkberry days. The menu is a bit different though. They have smoothies, shakes, sundaes, soft serve (ice cream and froyo), and paletas. The soft serve is prepared in small batches daily using premium ingredients.
Ask for samples. A small soft serve is $4.50 without toppings or $5.95 with up to four toppings. A medium without toppings is $5.50, a large $7.50. They were generous with toppings. The cut fruit looked and tasted fresh.
Soft serve flavors of the day:
* Tart: creamy, smooth, dense and tangy, very nice - creamier than Pinkberry, richer
* Strawberry colada: quite tangy too, same tart froyo with strawberries and pineapple/pina colada mix.
* Nutella
* Vanilla
* Dole whip
* Cookies & cream
The shop is cute and cheerful. Love the sprinkles wallpaper. Service was exceptional. The texture of the yogurt was spot on.
Pinkberry is gone (no locations left in NOLA) but Felipe's is still very good. Get your froyo while you still can.
