Where To Eat Outside In Palm Springs - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Solid Mexican food in Palm Springs is not always easy to come by, which is why you need to know about Felipe’s. Open daily from 10am-11pm, this family-run cafe is serving familiar Mexican classics better than anybody in town. The tiny spot is out by the airport, perfect for when you just want to sit quietly on a patio and not deal with the downtown crowds. The Hawaiian torta is a must." - brant cox

Wow! I loved everything about this food. I got these fish tacos and the ceviche and it was all super delicious! The service was excellent. They sat us very fast and were attentive to our table, but not overbearing which is always a good attribute to have as a wait staff. I loved every second of my time at this restaurant and will be coming here again the next time I am in town.

Google
We stopped here on our way to the airport and was pleasantly surprised. Both the fish tacos and Enchiladas de Mole were great. My dish had a traditional mole and an pumpkin seed mole and both were terrific. The wait staff was attentive and good natured. We got there around noon and noticed a lot of locals came in. Being located about 3 min from the airport and I am sure we will return.

Google
Tried this place on a whim and it didnt disappoint. The service was amazing from the moment we stepped to the door. Attentive and courteous. So inviting! Food and drinks were delicious. Guacamole chips and sala were so good! Enchilada Verde, chicken quesadilla, and the zarandeado fish tacos were so good. Loved the authentic but updated atmosphere. Music was so good. I will definitely return.

Google
My last night in PS and wanted low key and local. Wanted some tacos and Felipe's was close by. The restaurant was busy and full being a Monday night, but we got a table dast. Good sign being full. The staff was friendly and service was good. We ordered surf and turf tacos, fried fish and enchiladas. The food was delicious and fresh. Everything was piping hot (temperature). All the dishes were full of flavor. Good place to go. Will go back, if given the chance, to try other dishes.

Google
I wish I could rate above 5 stars, everything about Felipe’s is top notch. No hyperbole, the best margaritas I’ve ever had. I got the Shrimp Chile Relenos, my partner got the Shrimp Aguachiles. Service was attentive and great. Ambience was modern but with a Mexican flair. Ample seating inside and out. My only regret was not going sooner so I could go back over and over again

Google
Just had an amazing dinner at a Mexican restaurant today—probably the best we’ve had so far! My wife gave it a solid 90/100. The tacos were flavorful, the portions generous, and the margarita was perfectly balanced. Great food, great vibes—definitely coming back next time we’re in town!

Google
They have an interesting menu with some dishes I’ve only seen in Mexico. The staff is attentive and friendly. And they have some really nice tequila. All in this unassuming place near the airport. It’s a great place!

Google
My wife and I are visiting town and found this spot. Wow ! They did not disappoint. Everything was so intentional from beginning to end. Customer service was beyond what I expected, they even held the doors open for us. The food was incredible, great taste and presentation. I usually do not like chipotle sauce but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the enchiladas de Camaron. 11/10 flavor and a bit of spice. The aguachile verde was also very good and their rice has great taste. Thank you to the entire staff for being so attentive and making this a great experience.

Yelp
So so so good! Our bartender was fantastic and the food recommendations did not disappoint! We ordered the shrimp and octopus ceviche, and the quesabirria which comes with two tacos stuffed with cheese and birria and a side of the consume. Ask for the Serrano and habanero sauce if the salsa is too mild for you.
google avatar

Yelp
Best happy hour in Palm Springs! 2-for-1 margaritas, ceviche tostadas were so good 10/10, and the quesabirrias were insanely good. The güero chiles hit the spot too. Our server Héctor was super friendly and brought us a bunch of tasty salsas to try. For sure coming back!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and I figured, it was time to leave them a nice review. Staff always pleasant. Food is sooo good! The drinks hit EVERY time. Clean restaurant space & welcoming environment. I believe they have happy hour all day on Wednesdays! We went again today!! This is what we had for brunch

Yelp
I took my son and daughter-in-law to Palm Springs for lunch. Normally, when I go there, I do try to find a restaurant that I have never been to before. Felipe's was nice. We had an outdoor seat with misters which made it cool and comfortable. Jacob was our server who attended us quickly with drinks, chips/salsa and menus. Chicken flautas were very good. My son and daughter-in-law had the Molcajete, which I had never heard of before, and it was quite interesting. They really enjoyed it. My sister had the red beef burrito, she said that it was good but the red sauce taste was different from what she's had before. All in all it was a good day with good food and enjoyable.

Yelp
Stayed at the V, talking to the staff about where we were headed the next day and they suggested here instead! So glad they did, warm, welcoming environment and the food was delish! Ask for the spicy salsas. The Serrano is fantastic. Loved the carne en su jugo too! Cannot wait to return to PS and here!

Yelp
The husband and I popped in here for a quick lunch. This is a pretty small restaurant with about 10 tables inside. They have a good drink menu here and the prices are great for Palm Springs. My one big complaint is that our appetizer came out after our main courses. I really enjoyed my taco salad. It was the best I've probably had in California. They fry the shell fresh and the shredded beef was really flavorful. My husband enjoyed his AguaChile and their house salsa is one of my favorites...chunky with a little undertone of heat. Bonus points for them bringing out a whole bunch of their sauces to try. You can tell the staff actually like working here and care about the customers. The table next to us was a little bit wonky, and before the ladies said anything he was off, trying to get napkins to stabilize the table.

Yelp
Really great food and exceptional service. I had the Filete a la Diabla (seared white fish in spicy red sauce) and it was delicious. It was Wednesday and half off margaritas. Woohoo. It's a small casual place in a shopping center with a patio with misters and a parking lot. I sat inside in the air conditioning. It's not a huge place but has a small bar and maybe 10-15 tables inside. Lots of locals and not in the touristy part of town. I'd go back!
google avatar

JOyce H.

Yelp
If you know Palm Springs you know the heat, there were no inside tables available on a Saturday around 2pm no surprise so the water misters on the patio's a plus, not the restaurants fault but the flies are ruthless at this time do be warned. Service was great the food awesome.

Yelp
I love this place. Let's start there. I'm pretty stuck up when it comes to food and idgas that it's next to the airport... that makes is accessible! Lol. Ceviche: 10/10 every time. We love this and that's something I get the moment I get off the plane. It's a big portion so it's best to share. Chips & salsa are great. Chilaquiles is good (red or white). The flavor is on point and the fried egg -- chefs kiss! Lastly the guac - can't complain with perfection I will be back, I love this place, the servers are great. No complaints - only compliments!
google avatar

Luis P.

Yelp
The drinks, the view and atmosphere just makes you want to go back! Good was good, right on point! Will be my go to spot in Palm Springs! If you crave Mexican food and a good drink must come here.

Steven P.

Yelp
Amazing Mexican Cuisine. Honesty the best in Palm Springs. Try the surf and turf tacos-my favorite!

Yelp
This would be a strong 4 Star rating for me. Location-(4) looks much nicer on the inside than the outside; there is indoor and outdoor seating options; really nicely decorated inside but a bit cramped feeling with our table being close to our neighboring table and lack of privacy Staff- (5) all workers are hard-working and really polite and friendly Menu- (4) lots of drink and food options; my margarita was delicious and my wife said she loved her aguas frescas; my asada torta and my wife's shrimp enchiladas were really good but too expensive...my torta was not that large and shouldn't have been $16...and same with the enchiladas at $23 (just felt 20-30% too high); chips and salsa were decent...I thought the salsa was a bit weak
google avatar

Yelp
I went during happy hour and it wasn't too busy yet, the server was prompt with seating me and taking my drink order, they offered chips and salsa but I declined as I wasn't super hungry, I ordered the queso fundido with steak substitute instead of chorizo, with flour tortillas which they accommodated, and let me know of the surcharge for that, I also ordered the happy hour queso birria tacos. When I got my queso fundido they delivered the wrong tortillas but my server fixed it before I even asked as he noticed it was wrong while it was being bussed. Excellent service! They were very attentive even though they had a birthday party happening in a private room. The restaurant became busy as I was getting ready to leave and I could see the servers keeping up with everyone. I

Yelp
Second time here. Great service. Great atmosphere. The food was better on my first visit 3 years ago. It was still good but I was surprised to find parts of my chicken enchiladas were dry.. the tortilla and the chicken.., our server was a bit distracted too and forgot part of our order.. otherwise it's a great spot.

Yelp
We just happened to be in Palm Springs and a local recommended this place. Great recommendation! Nice looking restaurant with an outdoor eating area and a well decorated interior - a very comfortable and inviting place. Service was excellent, several people came to our table and checked in on us and were super friendly. The dishes we had were tasty and well portion sized. Every thing we had was great including the drinks! Fresh salsa and chips are complimentary and we ended up eating two bowls. Chili rellano plate had a wonderful flavor, and the tacos (shrimp and fish) were nicely fried. Right amount of batter and nice and crispy. I'd highly recommend this place if you're in Palm Springs and especially if you want a nice place to chill and enjoy some well made Mexican food.

Yelp
Great service, food and margs! Ambiance was perfect and cheerful with the vibrant colored flags and outside decor where we sat. Misters ran the entire time and kept us cool after we picked up our friend from the airport and this was one of the first places we found. We loved the chips and salsa, which had a nice kick, then the chicken nachos. We had a great time and will be back!

Yelp
Food and service is 10/10! Enrique was amazing and attentive! It says a lot about management! Would definitely come back!

Yelp
My go to whenever I visit Palm Springs is Tacquila . This time I wanted to try something different so I decided on this place . When I walked in I got seated right away and sat down and the complementary chips and salsa were brought out shortly after . I was in the mood to drink so I decided on the mango blended Mexican margarita . To be honest I wasn't crazy about the flavor and it wasn't giving . I then changed it over to the combiner margarita and that was much much better it was super refreshing and not too sweet which was nice . For food I ordered the taco salad and the chicken enchilada . The taco salad was good the only thing I found odd was that a meat wasn't included and you had to ask for it . It if paying 15 dollars for a taco salad I kind of expect some meat would be included in it . The chicken enchilada was good it was filled with meat and the verde salsa was super flavorful . Overall this place is on the smaller inside but they also have outside seating as well and the lighting is super pretty . The service is really good here as well . Everyone that works here is super friendly and they make you feel right at home . Overall I give this place a 4 out of 5 .

Yelp
Felipe's is a great Mexican restaurant! Our first visit & will not be our last. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food & service. I had Lydia tacos, my husband had garlic butter shrimp, my daughter had shredded pork; all delicious! The staff is friendly & attentive. We all agreed that Felipe's deserves 5 stars!

Yelp
The girls and I came in on a Monday night service and food was great as always. This was not my first nor last time coming. I love that outdoor seating with pretty decor. I'm disappointed, I don't recall our servers name. He was the sweetest man who would sing to us every time he brought out our margarita flight.

Yelp
Best restaurant in town. Came for a bachelorette and the service was top notch. Thank you to our servers Carlos and Jacob for making our experience amazing! 10/10 will be definitely coming back.

Yelp
I never leave yelp reviews, but for this place I had to!! I stopped by during happy hour and had the guac and chips, taquitos dorado, and pineapple margarita. The food was amazingly delicious!!! Definitely coming back next time I'm in town to visit.
google avatar

Rheall R.

Yelp
I'd give this place a 10 if I could!! This is the best not secret by the palm springs airport. Yes they have a variety of gimmicky things which sometimes means the food is lacking that is 100% not the case here. I've had a different item each time; tacos, enchiladas, ceviche and their margaritas... none of which are photographed as I consume them too quickly, but I will add a photo of the hot sauce tray they brought the 4 of us last time. Soooo good, but to be clear that habenro can be deadly.

Yelp
This little restaurant has a big menu and great food. That Lady was in the mood for late breakfast and noticed that this restaurant had a lot of people sitting in the patios. She thought that was a good indication of good food and drink. Well she was spot on. ITT is in a strip center and has plenty of parking. Their menu is extensive and their list of drinks is amazing. I had huevos rancheros and she enjoyed the breakfast enchiladas . That Lady opted for a Cadillac Marquita and I went Skinny. Additionally, we shared guacamole and fresh chips. All of the food was tasty and well presented and authentic Jalisco flavor. The service by Enrique was excellent. Great place to put you in the South of the Birder mood.

Yelp
We've been to this restaurant four times now, and it never disappoints! The Mexican food is delicious, full of flavor. Every dish we've tried has been amazing. Our favorite is their molcajete but today we tried their happy hour menu. And it was amazing! Their service is consistently great. Fernando was attentive and accommodating. Over all, the staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Good Mexican food with great outdoors sitting area. Staff are friendly, but service seems to lack due to a reduced staff and back kitchen. Skip the margaritas, they were either watered down with ice or the size of a shot glass.

Katie T.

Yelp
Such a cute little patio, Fernando was our server and was absolutely wonderful. He made great recommendations and was very welcoming. We got the mini tacos as an app and they were delicious with great presentation, I loved my fish taco and shrimp Chile relleno. Margs were tasty but definitely on the weaker side for my taste, switched to mezcal drink which I preferred. We will definitely be back, thank you Fernando!

Yelp
All of it - so damn good! I randomly came across this place one day on IG and decided to save them for the next time we were in the area. I am so glad I did!! I knew it had to be good when we pulled up and it seemed pretty lively for a random Tuesday afternoon. Seems like there are several unique seating areas throughout. We were greeted, immediately seated in one of the rooms with music going, and served chips and salsa. There were a couple of really great servers working together to help us out throughout the meal. I was craving a margarita and their blended mango with tajin hit the spot! My son and I both love a good shrimp ceviche and this one was perfect - the fresh, clean, ingredients served with crisp tostada shells was just how we like it. I was leaning towards some kind of fajitas, but when I came across the molcajete on the menu, I had to try it. It was so damn good!! It came, literally, overflowing with so many things - steak, chicken, shrimp, cheese, a cheese filled chile, and more. It was all covered in this delicious, spicy, salsa type sauce. It also came with a side of rice and beans and with tortillas. It said serves 2, and is plenty for probably 2-3. Overall, it was all 10/10, and I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
We came here for son's birthday. The food was good, the service was great, and the patio was the perfect spot to have lunch outside with our dog. It was a great place to celebrate my son's special day. The chips and salsa were delicious. We thought these were amazing. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. These were wonderful. My son ordered the salad with chicken, and he thought this was good as well. My brother ordered the tacos and thought these were a bit greasy. The dessert was ice cream with berries and was a delicious ending to our meal. The service was friendly and helpful. The staff really went the extra mile. They took our orders quickly, and the meals came out right after. The dessert was a cute touch for my son's birthday. The restaurant was beautiful, and I'm so glad the patio was so dog friendly. It really was a beautiful spot for lunch. All in all, this was a great lunch. Although my brother thought his tacos were a bit greasy, everything else was so good. We will definitely have lunch here again soon!

Yelp
El servicio estaba al 100 Carlos & Jacob fueron muy buenos meseros con nosotros!! Yaay!'m!! Thanks guys!

Yelp
Excellent little spot. Best Tamarindo margarita I've had in a while. Authentic red enchilada sauce. Lydias tacos were amazing. Really nice wait staff. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
After biking past this place every other day for 6 weeks the man + I finally decided to give it a try. We both got the street tacos - 2 grilled fish for me + 2 grilled shrimp for him - which we both really enjoyed. The tacos had great flavor! The refried beans were also good, though I personally prefer my beans more mashed/smooth. Sadly, the salsa was disappointing, but that was the only thing we didn't like. We thought it was a bit weak - more pink in color than red, so perhaps the quality of the tomato may improve the flavor...? Service was good and friendly! The ambiance was meh. It was a nice afternoon so we sat on the small patio, but it's along a busy street and a lot of the seating is picnic tables, which I personally don't care for. (Who enjoys crawling into a picnic table?) B O T T O M L I N E : Go. Good place for lunch but a bit too casual for date night.

Yelp
This is the second visit to Felipe's in Palm Springs and like our first visit it did not disappoint. We ordered the molecajete once again but this time only ordered one as we wanted to try the Del Mar ceviche and potato taquitos appetizers. Wow! Ceviche was fresh, delicious and the mango elevated the seafood in the ceviche. The potato taquitos were amazing. These appetizers were not small in size. The molcajete also like the first was amazing. To end the meal off we shared the pastel de elote with a scoope of vanilla ice cream (homemade by the owner's wife) amazing I want that recipe. The restaurant was very clean, the staff friendly and very attentive. Whenever in Palm Springs we will definitely visit Felipe's. Here are some pics of our delicious food.

Yelp
I was craving mariscos so I yelped and decided to try Felipes. I was not disappointed. Exactly the flavor i was looking for. But everything we had was great! Tacolgando had an authentic flavor. The Del mar ceviche was the star and the cucumber margarita and guava margarita were refreshing!! Mayreni our waitress was sweet and efficient. Thank you WE WILL RETURN

Yelp
The food was soooo good. Very unique decor and and menu. Good service too! Go there It's a great place to wait for a flight or take someone when you pick them up.

Larry B.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience. I order to go from Angel to go...boy was I dissatisfied. I ordered to go 3 soft shell tacos with rice and beans. To my surprise I only got 2 tacos, just the meat on the tortilla no fixings and no rice and beans..I should have checked the order before leaving. Never again, Lesson learned! LBJ
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
The carne asada was overcooked and tough. They offered to get me another meal but by that time my appetite was ruined. I won't go back.

Ashley D.

Yelp
I was recommended this place as me and a friend were going to be picking someone up from the airport and it's right next to it to kill some time. Honestly, thoroughly enjoyed! The food and service were amazing! The staff joked around poking fun at one another and I'm one to quickly join in on it. I got the chicken flautas and it was delicious!! I'll be back again!!

M V.

Yelp
We are from Los Angeles visiting. We were recommended here from another restaurant. I must say, this place is a must! Food & drinks amazing. I had the chiles Gueros amazing. Anel, the bartender, amazing and Fernando had great customer service. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
Me and a buddy stopped here for a quick lunch. We got the 4 taco lunch special and it was very good. The price seemed pretty reasonable too. Check them out.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
Slow service. Ok good. Bland chips and salsa. Not sure of the rating and the hype. Seating available inside and outside. Nothing special

Jim T.

Yelp
Beware of the scam! My spouse and I went to Felipe's this evening for happy hour. This is the fourth or fifth time I've been there for happy hour. Margaritas are two for one. We each had a margarita and a couple of appetizers. When the bill came, they had charged us for two margaritas. I questioned two different people there and they both told me that it was two for one for each person. Therefore, we could not have the two for one price. This is the first time it has been like that. In my previous visits we were only charged for one. If we had been a husband and wife, and a family, I seriously don't think they would've charged us for two margaritas. It makes me sad to write this review because I have been going to that restaurant for many years. I supported them through Covid and everything. I will not be back. I intend to tell everyone I speak to about this scam.

Roni S.

Yelp
Came here for brunch while staying in Palm Springs for the weekend. Shrimp Enchiladas come with a delicious savory chipotle cream, perfection. Beans and rice were also good. Carne con jugo was yummy. Menudo was also very good. You can get it w/out homminy and pata. Tried their pastel de elote, delicious. Service was attentive. Full bar and a couple of tv's. Looking forward to trying different dishes next time we're in town.

Ian B.

Yelp
The Tacos Lidia here at Felipe's are in my top 5 best tacos I've had in my life. My wife loved her fish/shrimp tacos. The flavors were amazing! Keep doing what you're doing in the kitchen. Just wonderful! Service was great and so was the ambiance (it was 110 degrees outside so we weren't complaining being in AC)! I will highly recommend this place to all my friends who visit Palm Springs.
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
We saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. The chips and salsa that come out before the meal was good, even my little one enjoyed it. We have been back several times and it's always great. This is a fusion Mexican place, a little different but nonetheless delicious.
google avatar

Nora M.

Yelp
The wait time took forever even if if it said 15 minutes it took 30 minutes. Aside from that, the food was good and the waiter was nice. This place also gives a happy vibe by looks and music.
google avatar

Kimberley K.

Yelp
I've had nothing but great experiences with Felipe's. What people do or don't realize is that, Felipe's is soooooooo close to the Palm Springs International Airport....that they could grab a meal here and still get back to the airport in time for their flights. Felipe's serves good standard mexican fare and I've tried other dishes besides their huevos rancheros... ;p

Yelp
Service was great. As we walked up to the door we got greeted and wveryone was friendly. we were pretty hungry craving mexican food but our food wasn't good, no flavor.i got enchiladas and the tortillas and chicken was cold. I did like the guacamole it tasted good and chips tested freah. Also there was a customer with a dog inside even though there is a patio, i didn't like that.
