Where To Eat Outside In Palm Springs

"Solid Mexican food in Palm Springs is not always easy to come by, which is why you need to know about Felipe’s. Open daily from 10am-11pm, this family-run cafe is serving familiar Mexican classics better than anybody in town. The tiny spot is out by the airport, perfect for when you just want to sit quietly on a patio and not deal with the downtown crowds. The Hawaiian torta is a must." - brant cox

Just had an amazing dinner at a Mexican restaurant today—probably the best we’ve had so far! My wife gave it a solid 90/100. The tacos were flavorful, the portions generous, and the margarita was perfectly balanced. Great food, great vibes—definitely coming back next time we’re in town!

Tried this place on a whim and it didnt disappoint. The service was amazing from the moment we stepped to the door. Attentive and courteous. So inviting! Food and drinks were delicious. Guacamole chips and sala were so good! Enchilada Verde, chicken quesadilla, and the zarandeado fish tacos were so good. Loved the authentic but updated atmosphere. Music was so good. I will definitely return.

My last night in PS and wanted low key and local. Wanted some tacos and Felipe's was close by. The restaurant was busy and full being a Monday night, but we got a table dast. Good sign being full. The staff was friendly and service was good. We ordered surf and turf tacos, fried fish and enchiladas. The food was delicious and fresh. Everything was piping hot (temperature). All the dishes were full of flavor. Good place to go. Will go back, if given the chance, to try other dishes.

I wish I could rate above 5 stars, everything about Felipe’s is top notch. No hyperbole, the best margaritas I’ve ever had. I got the Shrimp Chile Relenos, my partner got the Shrimp Aguachiles. Service was attentive and great. Ambience was modern but with a Mexican flair. Ample seating inside and out. My only regret was not going sooner so I could go back over and over again

I love this place. Let's start there. I'm pretty stuck up when it comes to food and idgas that it's next to the airport... that makes is accessible! Lol. Ceviche: 10/10 every time. We love this and that's something I get the moment I get off the plane. It's a big portion so it's best to share. Chips & salsa are great. Chilaquiles is good (red or white). The flavor is on point and the fried egg -- chefs kiss! Lastly the guac - can't complain with perfection I will be back, I love this place, the servers are great. No complaints - only compliments!

The food is excellent and the service extraordinary. We were able to eat with our dog in the patio. It was my first time trying green mole (mole verde) and it was delicious.

You know a place is truly great when everything is conspiring to ruin your fun and you STILL have a great time. On the day we came, the roads were being re-paved and it took us four tries to get into the parking lot. Still, we got to sit on the lovely Southern Exposure patio, with just the right amount of shade and sun to warm ourselves and sip our tasty margaritas. The waiters were patient and had a great sense of humor about the snarling traffic and honking horns. Their mood rubbed off on us...they obviously enjoy working together and make a great team. As the traffic continued they invited us to hang as long as necessary and we took advantage of the great vibe. The Food was delicious! We had the shrimp quesadilla (massive and yummy) and the enchilada de mole which was unexpectedly scrumptious. Oh!And the Mexican Rice! Rarely do I notice it, but theirs is soft and fluffy and creamy...how did they do that? Since we had time while the traffic was abating, we ordered the corn cake which is, according to the waiter, an 80-year-old family recipe. We were floored, it was less cake and more like a delicious custard. We will definitely be back and can't wait to enjoy the sun at Felipe's after the road is paved. (PS the final photo is of a meal someone else ordered, it smelled amazing and looked delicious!)

Google
We visited Felipe's on a recent Tuesday afternoon and had a wonderful lunch on the patio with Chris, an excellent server. I had the Enchiladas de Camaron and my partner had the Tacos Lidia at Chris' suggestion. Both were excellent. The Enchiladas de Camaron had just the right spice level and both dishes were presented well and were just the right amount of food. We also enjoyed a couple tasty margaritas. We have been coming to Felipe's almost every year for the past 10 years or so and recommend it to everyone. We look forward to returning in 2026 on our next trip to Palm Springs. Felipe's is a much for enjoyable and affordable meal than those served on the main drag in Palm Springs.

Yelp
Food and service is 10/10! Enrique was amazing and attentive! It says a lot about management! Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Me and a buddy stopped here for a quick lunch. We got the 4 taco lunch special and it was very good. The price seemed pretty reasonable too. Check them out.

Yelp
Good Mexican food with great outdoors sitting area. Staff are friendly, but service seems to lack due to a reduced staff and back kitchen. Skip the margaritas, they were either watered down with ice or the size of a shot glass.

Yelp
Great service, food and margs! Ambiance was perfect and cheerful with the vibrant colored flags and outside decor where we sat. Misters ran the entire time and kept us cool after we picked up our friend from the airport and this was one of the first places we found. We loved the chips and salsa, which had a nice kick, then the chicken nachos. We had a great time and will be back!

Yelp
This would be a strong 4 Star rating for me. Location-(4) looks much nicer on the inside than the outside; there is indoor and outdoor seating options; really nicely decorated inside but a bit cramped feeling with our table being close to our neighboring table and lack of privacy Staff- (5) all workers are hard-working and really polite and friendly Menu- (4) lots of drink and food options; my margarita was delicious and my wife said she loved her aguas frescas; my asada torta and my wife's shrimp enchiladas were really good but too expensive...my torta was not that large and shouldn't have been $16...and same with the enchiladas at $23 (just felt 20-30% too high); chips and salsa were decent...I thought the salsa was a bit weak

Yelp
I came down to palms springs for my birthday getaway and was recommended this spot for great food and experience. It did not disappoint!! This restaurant is hands-down one of the best I've been to. The food is so good. The service was phenomenal, the staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, and just had a great vibe all around. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and an even better experience. You won't be disappointed! The people to ask for would be Angel (the bartender) Jacob (the server) and Jaime (one of the owners). They went out of their way to give us suggestions on where to stay/ what to do on out trip here. Will for sure be back!!!

Yelp
Such a vibe, amazing food and drinks!! I love me a good Mexican vibe and food/drinks served in authentic cups and dishes. Just amazing! Beautiful place . Fantastic service!!

Yelp
I was craving mariscos so I yelped and decided to try Felipes. I was not disappointed. Exactly the flavor i was looking for. But everything we had was great! Tacolgando had an authentic flavor. The Del mar ceviche was the star and the cucumber margarita and guava margarita were refreshing!! Mayreni our waitress was sweet and efficient. Thank you WE WILL RETURN

Yelp
We were nearby and wanted an early lunch. Found this Mexican restaurant. Place looks nice and clean. Policy seems to be that tables are sanitized after every seating. There were some signs of lack of maintenance around the edges, but I likely noticed that because I once managed restaurants. The food was great! My stomach had felt queasy all morning so I chose a shrimp and mushroom quesadilla. It was marvelous, but huge. That would have been great on another day. My husband had a shredded beef quesadilla. Also great. His iced tea was off though. So, maybe be cautious about that. Maybe go for the horchata. The service was impeccable. It's a group effort. All the servers kept an eye out for us, making sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our time there. If you're in the area eat here. It is well supported by locals, so that's a hint to the level of food, service, and prices.

Yelp
The girls and I came in on a Monday night service and food was great as always. This was not my first nor last time coming. I love that outdoor seating with pretty decor. I'm disappointed, I don't recall our servers name. He was the sweetest man who would sing to us every time he brought out our margarita flight.

Yelp
We just happened to be in Palm Springs and a local recommended this place. Great recommendation! Nice looking restaurant with an outdoor eating area and a well decorated interior - a very comfortable and inviting place. Service was excellent, several people came to our table and checked in on us and were super friendly. The dishes we had were tasty and well portion sized. Every thing we had was great including the drinks! Fresh salsa and chips are complimentary and we ended up eating two bowls. Chili rellano plate had a wonderful flavor, and the tacos (shrimp and fish) were nicely fried. Right amount of batter and nice and crispy. I'd highly recommend this place if you're in Palm Springs and especially if you want a nice place to chill and enjoy some well made Mexican food.

Yelp
I'd give this place a 10 if I could!! This is the best not secret by the palm springs airport. Yes they have a variety of gimmicky things which sometimes means the food is lacking that is 100% not the case here. I've had a different item each time; tacos, enchiladas, ceviche and their margaritas... none of which are photographed as I consume them too quickly, but I will add a photo of the hot sauce tray they brought the 4 of us last time. Soooo good, but to be clear that habenro can be deadly.
google avatar

Yelp
Enrique was phenomenal. Good vibes. Good drinks. Entertained and took care of us. I'd go back just so I can kick it w Enrique when he brings me guacamole and chips. Spectacular, I'll have 14 of them.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks, the view and atmosphere just makes you want to go back! Good was good, right on point! Will be my go to spot in Palm Springs! If you crave Mexican food and a good drink must come here.

Yelp
This little restaurant has a big menu and great food. That Lady was in the mood for late breakfast and noticed that this restaurant had a lot of people sitting in the patios. She thought that was a good indication of good food and drink. Well she was spot on. ITT is in a strip center and has plenty of parking. Their menu is extensive and their list of drinks is amazing. I had huevos rancheros and she enjoyed the breakfast enchiladas . That Lady opted for a Cadillac Marquita and I went Skinny. Additionally, we shared guacamole and fresh chips. All of the food was tasty and well presented and authentic Jalisco flavor. The service by Enrique was excellent. Great place to put you in the South of the Birder mood.

Yelp
All of it - so damn good! I randomly came across this place one day on IG and decided to save them for the next time we were in the area. I am so glad I did!! I knew it had to be good when we pulled up and it seemed pretty lively for a random Tuesday afternoon. Seems like there are several unique seating areas throughout. We were greeted, immediately seated in one of the rooms with music going, and served chips and salsa. There were a couple of really great servers working together to help us out throughout the meal. I was craving a margarita and their blended mango with tajin hit the spot! My son and I both love a good shrimp ceviche and this one was perfect - the fresh, clean, ingredients served with crisp tostada shells was just how we like it. I was leaning towards some kind of fajitas, but when I came across the molcajete on the menu, I had to try it. It was so damn good!! It came, literally, overflowing with so many things - steak, chicken, shrimp, cheese, a cheese filled chile, and more. It was all covered in this delicious, spicy, salsa type sauce. It also came with a side of rice and beans and with tortillas. It said serves 2, and is plenty for probably 2-3. Overall, it was all 10/10, and I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
We came here for son's birthday. The food was good, the service was great, and the patio was the perfect spot to have lunch outside with our dog. It was a great place to celebrate my son's special day. The chips and salsa were delicious. We thought these were amazing. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. These were wonderful. My son ordered the salad with chicken, and he thought this was good as well. My brother ordered the tacos and thought these were a bit greasy. The dessert was ice cream with berries and was a delicious ending to our meal. The service was friendly and helpful. The staff really went the extra mile. They took our orders quickly, and the meals came out right after. The dessert was a cute touch for my son's birthday. The restaurant was beautiful, and I'm so glad the patio was so dog friendly. It really was a beautiful spot for lunch. All in all, this was a great lunch. Although my brother thought his tacos were a bit greasy, everything else was so good. We will definitely have lunch here again soon!

Yelp
After biking past this place every other day for 6 weeks the man + I finally decided to give it a try. We both got the street tacos - 2 grilled fish for me + 2 grilled shrimp for him - which we both really enjoyed. The tacos had great flavor! The refried beans were also good, though I personally prefer my beans more mashed/smooth. Sadly, the salsa was disappointing, but that was the only thing we didn't like. We thought it was a bit weak - more pink in color than red, so perhaps the quality of the tomato may improve the flavor...? Service was good and friendly! The ambiance was meh. It was a nice afternoon so we sat on the small patio, but it's along a busy street and a lot of the seating is picnic tables, which I personally don't care for. (Who enjoys crawling into a picnic table?) B O T T O M L I N E : Go. Good place for lunch but a bit too casual for date night.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday! First time coming here, amazing staff and food was just a 10/10. I got the steak and chicken fajitas. Lots of meat which always makes me happy! My sister got the red enchiladas, chicken I believe. I would rate it a 7/10 & her husband got the steak for plate, which was also a 10/10! Everything definitely met my expectations and I would definitely be coming back with friends and family.

Yelp
The food was soooo good. Very unique decor and and menu. Good service too! Go there It's a great place to wait for a flight or take someone when you pick them up.

Yelp
The vibe is inviting.. Their drink offerings are tasty and numerous. The service is attentive. The food is fresh and adventurous. Mexican food elevated . We enjoy eating at the bar to watch the activity. We'll be back for sure...True neighborhood gem...

Yelp
First time here, quesabirra is super solid, not the best ive had but up there in the area, will be back to try other items.

Yelp
Slow service. Ok good. Bland chips and salsa. Not sure of the rating and the hype. Seating available inside and outside. Nothing special

Steph I.

Yelp
Amazing experience. The staff were so friendly & attentive. Came for a bachelorette & the private room was the perfect spot. Food & drinks 10/10.

Carol X.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Palm Springs. Great ambience. Such a cute spot with truly amazing service. The food is top notch. Authentic Mexican food with real culinary flair. The beverages are legendary. As a local I'm thrilled to have found this oasis in the desert.

Yelp
We saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. The chips and salsa that come out before the meal was good, even my little one enjoyed it. We have been back several times and it's always great. This is a fusion Mexican place, a little different but nonetheless delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had nothing but great experiences with Felipe's. What people do or don't realize is that, Felipe's is soooooooo close to the Palm Springs International Airport....that they could grab a meal here and still get back to the airport in time for their flights. Felipe's serves good standard mexican fare and I've tried other dishes besides their huevos rancheros... ;p
google avatar

Nora M.

Yelp
The wait time took forever even if if it said 15 minutes it took 30 minutes. Aside from that, the food was good and the waiter was nice. This place also gives a happy vibe by looks and music.

Vivian C.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Margaritas were awesome. Excellent service. Thank you Angel and Jacobo. "Angel can sell ice to Eskimos".Had a wonderful time.
google avatar

Beth U.

Yelp
People were nice but food not do good. The chili relleno was so tough that you couldn't cut with a knife or tear it. The waiter looked at my plate but didn't say anything. The chips were store quality. The rest just ok. The carne asada plate meat so tough you could barely cut or chew it. Disappointed. Hard to mess up Mexican food.
google avatar

Lori J.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant last week. The service was wonderful, very attentive. The food, however, was not great. I had the rojo enchilada plate. The red sauce tasted more like tomato sauce than chile sauce. It was very bland and flavorless. I felt the rice and beans were also lacking flavor. This restaurant is fairly pricey, my plate was over $20 for cheese enchiladas. There are plenty of other places in the area with better food at a lower cost.
google avatar

Jonah D.

Yelp
Great environment. Very cool decor. Service was excellent. Highly recommend the margarita tower. Food was very good as well. Very cool how they decorated certain drinks and food dishes . Definitely coming back

Yelp
Felipe's is a definite stop if you're in Palm Springs. The food and drinks are great, they could use larger salsa dishes as the ones we received were more like sample sized. Indoor seating as well as outdoor seating is available with misters and the staff is very friendly. Service can definitely use some improvement, as it can be very slow to start. The food and drinks arrived quickly and the prices are reasonable. Parking is easy in the large lot that is shared with many other stores and restaurants. We arrived at 11am and by 11:30 there was a line with about 15 people waiting in 100° weather. I'd say come early or be prepared to wait. We really enjoyed our lunch here and the restaurant is clean, not too loud and would definitely come back on our next vacation to Palm Springs. Cheers!
google avatar

Yelp
We got the carne asada plate and the chile relleno w/ asada plate. Great food. Great prices. Amazing customer service. The outdoor patio was cute and peaceful. Not the best cocktails but for the price, not bad. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Tried Felipe's today for the first time. Felipe's is located at the end of a strip mall just north of the Palm Springs airport. The strip mall offers plenty of parking and Felipe's offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant decor is difficult to describe... I'd call it a funky, Bohemian Mexican vibe. Although the indoor seating capacity is limited they do offer a sectioned-off area for private parties and events. My husband ordered the Carne en sus jugos and a Bloody Mary, and I went with the albondigas. The presentation for our meals was beautiful... Both were served in traditional Mexican clay dishes sitting on black slate trays. The service was attentive and kind which made our experience even more enjoyable. Felipe's received four out of five stars because the women's restroom had no toilet paper and after I alerted our server the issue was not resolved. I overheard our server ask a coworker about the toilet paper... the coworker explained she knew there was no toilet paper and that a roll of paper towels had been placed on the toilet tank. (The big heavy brown non perforated roll that is usually loaded in a dispenser) It might have been prudent for someone to either run out and purchase toilet tissue or use Instacart to have some delivered.
google avatar

Jacob C.

Yelp
The food and drinks were good, but the portions and service left more to be desired. This is a great place for a celebration and there's ample patio seating for loved ones, including your dog.
google avatar

Yelp
Food: I've been going here for a couple years because the food is so delicious. It's basically the food I grew up with! I've never had a bad meal here and I try something new every time. I'll update yall if my food experiences change but so far so good. P.S. try their chiles gueritos with the creamy chipotle sauce as your appetizer. You won't regret it lol. Drinks: they have a great drink menu but my favorite is the jarrito! It comes in the classic clay cup. Service: I have no complaints here. All the staff members were very kind and attentive. Ambiance: they've updated the inside and it's super cute, but I always prefer to sit outside in the patio this time of year. It's so hot most of the time so I enjoy the patio seating while I can! There's tables of 4, but I believe they can accommodate parties of up to 8.
google avatar

Yelp
On a whim, we decided to go to Felipe's for dinner before heading to the PS Cultural Center for a show. We were quickly greeted to be seated. We opted for an outdoor table since there were heaters and we were feeling the decor vibe of the patio. A perfect size of chips and salsa was delivered as we perused the menu. Max, our server, quickly greeted us and introduced himself. He provided us the specials for the evening and took our drink order. I had a Cadillac and Tea ordered the pineapple and dragonfruit suggested by Max. The pineapple and dragonfruit had a perfect blend of tart and sweetness. Great suggestion Max! The cocktails are so good that it's dangerous. For dinner I had the chicken flautas. They were crispy as you would suspect. The chicken was very moist and the lettuce, tomato's with sour cream on top was very fresh. Tea had the mole ranchero. So much food...couldn't finish it. The service team at Felipe's is fantastic! I could see genuine care the service team had for all customers. Everyone smiled, everyone was friendly and quick to serve everyone. During dinner we were checked on by Max, our server, the manager and the hostess. I was quite impressed the hostess cleared my plate from the table within a minute of turning over my utensils on the plate. Bonus points! Thank you! We'll be back!
google avatar

Linda J.

Yelp
We decided to stop here today before going to the airport to eat. We had some time to kill. We were greeted and sat outside per our request. The hostess was very sweet. Carlos, our server, came to take our order as soon as the hostess brought us water. They are not playing around here. We didn't have much time nor the ability for leftovers, so I ordered small. I ordered rice and beans along with the homemade guacamole, and my husband ordered the steak burrito. The rice and beans were good but nothing spectacular.. The guacamole was soooo good and the presentation just beautiful! I especially loved the pickled red onions, I've never had that before on guacamole. My husband only ate half of his burrito. In God's perfect timing, a homeless man was riding his bike by when something went wrong, and he stopped to fix it. He was very happy to have his plate and get help fixing his bike. Ok back to Carlos... great service! Thank you for making our quick stop by a wonderful experience.

Yelp
A true authentic Mexican restaurant!! The service is definitely a 10 plus !!!! The food is amazing ! Every server here is rock star !!! Very personal !!!
google avatar

Rocky F.

Yelp
Really good Mexican food. I had the shrimp enchiladas and my wife had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. We both loved our food. The rice and beans were on point too. Service is fast and friendly. Probably the best horchata I have had in a long time. One thing preventing five stars, the indoor dining has most uncomfortable chairs ever. The back of the chair just hits wrong and my back was aching. But my stomach was happy!
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Service was attentive here although there was a guy with tattoos on his arm and a butterfly was one of them I think on his neck and he had an intense stare towards my underage daughter before getting seated and when he'd bring chips- uncomfortable. Prices were kind of high here , at least $20 per plate. It was busy, which is a good sign and they have margarita flights that they bring out with sparklers. Heavy handed pours in cocktails. The outdoor sitting area was nice, unfortunately it was windy so we sat inside which was small and unremarkable as far as decor.
google avatar

Marisol R.

Yelp
This place is full of funny, flirtatious, welcoming guys. Quick service, helpful waiters, our drinks were good and the asada chile rellenos were delicious. Surprisingly two come in the combination plate, typically everyone serves one. I asked for their spiciest sauce and their creamy habanero sauce did not disappoint. They had a promotion where if you bought any drink made with Teramana tequila you would get a free guacamole courtesy of Dwayne Johnson. You pay for the guacamole along the rest of your order but send a pic to the QR code and get $10 back Via Venmo. It worked. We aren't locals but would definitely try this place again.

Yelp
We booked Felipe's private room for a birthday and let's just say 10/10 across the board!! They decorated the room with balloons and name tags for everyone which was very thoughtful. Appetizers were included and the guac is to die for it was so fresh as if they had just made it 5 minutes before. I got a Jamaica margarita which was amazing not too sweet and I could taste the liquor. Their skinny margarita was great too and my boyfriend got the jarrito which was very tasty as well. The molcajete we ordered was for 2 people and we still had some leftovers to go. It came out piping hot and was one of the best dishes. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food. Great staff. 4 of us went for dinner. The service was quick, and friendly. The food was delicious. All 4 of us were happy. Highly recommend that you end your meal with the churros. We split one order, and they were great!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is so so good!!! We sat outside and it was so nice and chill. The service was friendly and attentive. Would love to come back and try more of the menu! Highly recommend this place for more elevated Mexican food!

Yelp
I had the tacos gobernador with shrimp and they were delicious. To the point I will be fantasizing about them for weeks. And I Loved the cheesy beans. My boyfriend had chicken enchiladas with two kinds of mole. I thoroughly enjoyed the Luis Miguel playlist that soundtracked our meal. The tequila shots might have contributed to my zeal.

Yelp
Recently went for mothers day Everything was great to the food to the service! Very clean bathrooms ! Family friendly. I loved how the waitress are naturally welcoming. My new favorite place! Thank you again for this wonderful time. I was sad at myself for forgetting my leftovers .
