Critic ‘Suddenly Transported to Paris’ By Way of Purlieu - Eater Carolinas

"“As far as I can tell, there’s only one thing missing from Felix,” writes Post & Courier critic Hanna Raskin. She praises chef Elizabeth Shultenhover for the classic French fare and bubbly cocktails, but she thinks the dining room lacks old-world Paris charm." - Erin Perkins

It was my first day in Paris and this meal was everything we needed. It was so delicious and the waiter was very nice. The wine was good too. The environment was warm and cozy.

We went there hoping for a nice dinner with friends believing the high rating that was given to this restaurant. Unfortunately, I have to confirm that the negative ratings were more correct than the positive ones. We ordered the rib eye steak and asked for medium rare but instead received a steak that was barely cooked at all and cold as if it was not taken out from the fridge on time. The fish did not look appealing either and was too expensive for what it was. When we told the waitress about the food she just looked at as without any apology. I can now understand why the restaurant was empty and should have taken that as a sign not to enter the premise. The only decent dish was the appetiser which was squid and the dessert which was crème brûlée which you can hardly fail anyway. No next time for me here, thank you.

We enjoyed our lunch here. The food is delicious, and the service quick and polite. The menu was in French only but with the English speaking staff we did not have any difficulties ordering. I would certainly recommend this place.

Lovely meal! The waiting staff were so friendly and helpful. The prawns to start were beautiful and the mains (turbot and veal liver) were plentiful and delicious. Very happy meal finished by a tasty pain perdu.

I have high standards, but they are all met. Friendly people, good advice, lovely wines, great food and just a cute place altogether. Highly recommend coming if you love authentic flavors and good service!

Expected better given the reviews. We live in Paris and have seen a lot better. Food was ok, service was very slow, we had to catch their eye for everything which meant it wasn’t relaxing as we had to fight for attention. Quite an expensive dinner for 3 adults and 2 children. Given we had 2 young children we thought they might be given a bit more priority but not at all. Nothing bad happened but it just was average.

We had a great meal last night here. We were exhausted after our conference and so happy to find this restaurant. Very welcoming and friendly service, nice steaks :) We would come back if back in Paris!

Yelp
What an amazing hidden gem! We were looking for authentic French food, and authentic French food we found! The ambiance is very cosy, the stuff are helpful - the menu was in French only and without stuff we would have to guess! The pig intestines sausage was very tasty (although it may not sound as such), especially when combined with perfect mustard. If I'm ever in Paris again, I'm definitely coming by!

Yelp
Le Félix is truly a hidden gem in Paris, France. If you are looking for an authentic (non-touristy) place then this is definitely the way to go. It is one of my places I've had in Paris so far. It's hidden away and not located in one of the big tourist areas. The service was friendly and quick (for Paris). They have both indoor and outdoor seating, either are great options as the restaurant is pretty small and opened up fully so even if you sit indoor you get a bit of the outdoors. The food was extremely delicious. To start we got the cucumber salad with goat cheese (Salade de concombre au chèvre frais de Dominique Fabre). And you NEED to order this. It looks amazing and tastes even better. Even though it may sound simple, it was packed with flavor. For mains we got the sea bass and the veal, and both were fantastic. The sea bass was my favorite and I would highly recommend you get it, neither of us left an ounce of food on the plate. (Check the pictures) Overall, Le Félix is a must try in Paris. Make the time to go here for lunch, you will not regret it. It's a great experience and some of the best food you will have!

Yelp
My husband I came here based on a review that was recently posted. Yes, we had the Goat cheese & Cucumber salad! Fabulous! I got the sea bass and my husband had the filet. For dessert, crème brûlée. It was awesome, quiet and off the beaten path! Would go again!

Yelp
Hard to really describe this place as it falls in the same category as many of the restaurants in Paris. It has a small cozy feel and a very welcoming atmosphere. The owner is very involved and came over to translate the menu for us. I ordered the beef steak that came with a side of fried potatoes. While the steak was small, dry, and not cooked to my order, the potatoes and the sauce that came with it were good. The wife had the fish and mash potatoes which were also good. As an appetizer we had the zucchini with mozzarella and ham. It was so good. The mozzarella was very fresh and the oil they drizzle on top is delicious. For dessert we had the creme brûlée which was also very delicious.

Yelp
Truly excellent! From the people to the food, everything was on point! We came in quite late and they still accommodated us. The owner himself was around and explained the menu to us. He gave us suggestions from what wine to get, to their best selling menu items. I would personally recommend the sea bass dish! It was cooked perfectly and had great accompaniments! My family and I vowed to come back to this place before we leave Paris lol.

Yelp
The owner was warm and welcoming, the service friendly, server's suggestions were right on, and the duck was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to return!
