NYC New Restaurant Openings, October 2023 | Eater NY

"The Midtown coffee bar has added a Soho outpost serving drinks like an espresso tonic and a hickory-smoked s’mores latte in a roughly 30-seat space." - Emma Orlow

I had a late lunch here for the first time. I never tried any Felix branch before. The interior is beautiful and feels luxurious. It's a bit small but comfortable. I had the fig, ricotta, truffle oil and honey tartine which was so good. It's simple but effective! Had also a cup of tea which was nice too. The only downside was the service... The person who served me was a bit cold and I was impatient because I took my time. Thankfully the person who prepared my order was kind and caring.

Google
Exceptional ricotta toast wow they really nailed it! Atmosphere is cool & calm, lots of customers. Outdoor & indoor seating I love the interior design since I’m obsessed with velvety seating in doing with black & white checkered floors. Thanks so much! I’ll be back.

Google
Cozy and beautiful coffee place, coffee and matcha was great, and toasts were tasty. Loved the atmosphere

Google
A mid size (space wise) posh coffee shop! I love the espresso profile, nutty and chocolate notes. They have the classic coffee shop Pastries offering. The ambience if fab!!!!!! love the classy color and they have memorabilias from the Park Avenue location. I love the smoker!

Google
This high class cafe is beautifully decorated inside, from the pink velvet chairs to the magnificent green couches (which are very comfortable as well as aesthetically pleasing) and the stunning gold framed photographs on the walls- this is a 5 star place. Every beverage and light bite I’ve ordered has been stellar as well 👍

Google
The place is very nice. The interior is beautiful, which is rare for New York. The coffee was good. The only thing is that the person who served me was a little cold.

Google
You should definitely stop by Felix Roasting Company! Not only is it stylish inside, their prices are very reasonable and they have some friendly baristas! My cappuccino was smooth and well balanced. I paired it with a chocolate cookie which was delicious!

Google

Yelp
I often find myself in Soho and in the past I used to visit Felix Roasting's location on Greene Street. Then a while back they closed and there was sadness. Fortunately this is no longer the case! Now located further up on Greene and Houston, Felix Roasting is back in a smaller but beautifully decorated location. If you have been to any Felix Roasting you'll know they aim for a retro look that looks like it could float anywhere from the 1920's to the 1950's. Beautiful lighting, moldings and a very elegant feel really make coming here feel special and not like you're just hitting another Starbucks. This location is nowhere near as large as the previous two floor location but you could easily fit twelve or so people inside and then there are tables outside during nice weather. It's been a while since I've had anything from Felix Roasting, so I decided to get one of my "go to" drinks: a Dirty Chai. They always did this drink well, infusing it with some light spice flavor and sweetness without either being overwhelming. I am happy to report they continue to have excellent quality drinks. I loved my Dirty Chai and am so happy that quality has not suffered over the years. I've always loved Felix Roasting and I'm super happy to see them back in this area!

Yelp
Aesthetically pleasing but definitely for tourists. I ordered an iced chai latte which was fine but a bit overpriced (not a surprise for the area though) and a fig toast which was totally fantastic and well worth it. The space is nicely decorated and I really appreciated the design and comfortable seating. However, the WiFi policy is frankly appalling and stingy. The shop was essentially empty and after spending over $30 I was only allowed the use the WIFi for 30 minutes before being booted off the system. Unfortunately that's enough to keep me away for next time- what a ridiculous policy.

Yelp
The ice coffee was very good. The employee was distracted. After he made it, he called out my order. I was standing there by the cash register waiting to pay. His co-worker had to tell me the cost and accepted my payment. The table is really small. Hence, it is not a cafe that you want to stay too long at. The receipt has a code to use the free WiFi.

Yelp
This place is stunningly beautiful inside from the pink velvet chairs to the green couches to the gorgeous gold framed photographs. High class all the way & everything I've ordered has been 5 star

Yelp
If you're looking for an elevated coffee experience in Manhattan, Felix Roasting Company on Houston and Greene is a must. We stopped in for a simple afternoon coffee and left feeling like we'd just been on a quick trip to a European café. The coffee? Spot on--bold, smooth, and made with real care. The setup is even better: elegant, intimate, and designed to slow you down in all the right ways. It has a true European coffee house feel, where lingering is part of the experience. Bonus points--the bathroom. Yes, the bathroom. Easily one of the most beautiful and pristine in Manhattan. Clean, elegant, and surprisingly memorable. Service was friendly and warm, with a staff that treats every customer like a regular. Final word: -Absolutely worth a detour. -Highly recommend if you need a break from the city's chaos. Felix Roasting is more than a coffee stop--it's a pause, a recharge, and a reminder that great coffee deserves a great setting.

Yelp
I saw this cafe listed as one of the best cafes to telework, but you can only use their wifi for an hour, so it's not ideal if you have actual work to do. You don't find out about the one-hour limit until after you've paid for your item, sat down, and tried to log in, only to be prompted with a login screen stating the maximum usage is one hour. It makes you put in your information and the order total along with "the receipt code." It's misleading because the sign at the front says "free public Wi-Fi.'l" For the drink, I got the matcha latte. It was disappointing and tasted like milk with no matcha flavor. I feel like I wasted $7. That being said, the interior is nice and cute.

Yelp
This little coffee shop in New York, specifically in SoHo was such a vibe! The decor and lighting inside is everything, it feels so warm and cozy in here! My vanilla latte was delicious and well worth the wait. They offer a select few bagels and toast options, on top of their coffees and teas and matchas! Definitely a spot I would visit again to grab some good coffee or a quick snack!

Yelp
I paid for a $7 mocha and it was poorly made to the point that I had to spit it out due to poor taste that I worry for my stomach. I've been to their other location located on Park Avenue South which is top tier when it comes to food, service, and experience. However this location doesn't match up at all. The space is beautifully decorated and all the seats are taken to enjoy their drinks and pastries. But one thing I worry about is the person making the coffee. And this isn't the first time, I had a cappuccino which tasted burnt and more milky. I went again thinking it was just a bad batch that one time so I tried their mocha. No balance of sweet and strong just lackluster and couldn't drink it. I personally won't be coming to this location but hopefully the next person gets a better coffee and/or pastry

Yelp
It's been hard to find good coffee in NYC. Only because there are so many options and you really never know if they are great. we were so happy with this coffeeshop! First of all when you walk in it's like you're going back in time where they actually believed coffee was an art form. My eyes were tantalized by the decor. The. you see 5 young men and they are all dressed to the nines in the best. Now for the coffee... EXCELLENCE at its finest. My latte was perfection just slightly too hot and the cortado was also just lovely perfect temperature. I wish we could have found it earlier!! We stayed at the hotel all week and had vouchers for a certain place nearby which was (not their fault) but sub par coffee to say the least. The service at Felix was great as well. all in all go here!!!

Yelp
I've been a fan of Felix Roasting for years and am pleased to see their expansion in the city while not sacrificing quality. The quality of the espresso is top tier and I was delighted with their matcha. So much so that I bought a canister to bring home! The barista on duty during my visit was very helpful in determining which coffee was best for me, I tasted 3 options and landed on the right one! Again, brought a bag of beans home with me. Walk in and enjoy the vibe with a great cup of coffee!

Yelp
Only marking down a star because this place is expensive - I still highly recommend it if you're ok with spending about $8 for your drink. Also unfortunately, most places cost this much now. First, Felix is so cute. They have a strong aesthetic and I love the pink / green seating. Their iced drinks (which costs .50 cents more) come in a cute plastic cup - picture attached. There's a hole for a straw or you can sip straight out of it (sorry I'm a straw gal). I've gotten different lattes here before (they have their own signature vanilla syrup which is super tasty) and my most recent trip I got an oat matcha which was perfect! It was creamy and all the matcha was mixed in, no clumps! I feel like it's a risk to order matcha at expensive coffee shops because I'm so disappointed when they're clumpy but I took the risk because I had a feeling Felix Roasting would have a good matcha and they did! If you want to get a little work done, your receipt has a wifi code for 30 mins of free wifi. You need a new receipt if you want to keep working so it's not a great spot for long term but perfect if you're just doing a little work while you enjoy your coffee and snack. Also I appreciate that they have a bathroom!! This location isn't great for big groups (I'd say 1-4 people in your party max) but it's a perfect spot in the heart of soho and always one of my recs or go-tos when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Really pretty interior! Staff are super friendly and the Whipped Ricotta Toast is a must try!!

Yelp
Fancy cute interior. Coffee and baked goods was decent. Good spot to rest up after a day of shopping or touring the city. Some of the tables were wobbly. Could take some time to straighten out the spacing after people are down. Many of the chairs were shifted around. Otherwise, great for the gram.

Yelp
The cafe ISN'T this hipster overcrowded kennel of people cramming themselves into a spot just to be seen at the spot. Very good turnaround for tables, and no one is rushing you. I had the 6 shooter espresso: yes, 6 shots in a cup. My companion had the filter drip with no frills. With that I decided on something sweet along with my caffeine treat! The only thing they had was a bagel with sweet toppings. I noticed the counter glass showcase was empty. Busy morning I guess. The bagel was a capital idea though. Oh my pagen gods was it tasty. I might come back just for that. My friend took a bite after my reaction, it was funny seeing her eyes spark in surprise and them look hungrily at the rest as she chewed. All in all. A very satisfying experience that heightened the meeting with my friend.

Yelp
1/1 Ambience; 1.5/2 Food + Beverages; 1/1 Service; 0.5/1 Value The aesthetic of Felix Roasting Co. are immaculate, and this location is no different with beautiful wood details, plush velvet sofas and stools, and tall windows for an airy atmosphere with loads of natural light. The elegant and curated ambience allude to a rich experience that the cafe seemingly wants to evoke, and this was a charm evident in the service as well. Our baristas were not only friendly, but made the preparation process an act with tricks and playfulness with different ingredients much to our delight. It took some extra moments, but it made us smile and certainly made us returning patrons. I had a regular latte and my friend opted for their smoked smores hot chocolate. The latte was rich with a well rounded chocolatey note. The stores hot chocolate is undoubtedly pretty to look at, but was not as rich and chocolatey as one would hope for such a steep price tag ($15).

Yelp
Matcha latte after a long trek around soho is just the ticket. There's velvet chairs and couches everywhere and tiny little round tables like the ones outside of Parisian cafes. They didn't have any pastries but that was probably a good thing

Yelp
Excellent coffee and great spot among many in this neighborhood. Worth stopping in if in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Almost Hate to give the review because then the secret will get out. But this is an excellent resto/cafe in the hotel hugo with a chill low key and quiet dining area that has an outside patio covered in glass top. The food is healthy light and tasty. Coffee? The coffee is top shelf. Expressos and capucinos w art on top, matchas flavorful. I had the quinoa chicken which was perfectly cooked and came e cauliflower and yams. The service is unobtrusive yet attentive and polite. If you're in the west SoHo area and looking for a quiet place to eat, take a call or meet this is it.

Yelp
Always loved their espresso drinks, this time around I got their iced cappuccino with oatmilk and coffee was a bold dark roast, velvety and rich. I ended up going home with a bag of their espresso beans which was $17. When you buy a bag of beans, they give you a drip coffee for free. The seasonal eggnog was the ultimate comfort in a cup. There's a layer of crystallized ginger sugar(?) on top which was nicely presented. The staff were very nice and welcoming. Plenty of space to sit and a bathroom. The only downside is their drinks can really add up if you end up adding syrups or milk alternatives (about +$1.50 for each).

Yelp
Such a lovely cafe with delicious cold brew! There interior is plush and comfortable, and spacious. There is a flower and menu on each table, and it's super easy to order at the front and then take a seat after. There is free wifi if you'd like to do some work and enjoy a egg sandwich, whipped ricotta toast or salmon on a bagel! There is also Dominique Ansel treats for purchase. There is a restroom available but likely will require asking the staff for entry.

Yelp
We got a cortado and an eggnog which I think is really an eggnog latte or at least I assume but it was a very pretty drink The coffee was good and for both drinks ~$12 The shop has a weird vibe like nobody in there was talking except in very hushed whispers or not at all. We were having a conversation quietly but when I giggled, a few people looked up at us with I swear a side eye like in a library.. just felt weird The bathroom is interesting. The whole thing has a ceramic theme with even the toilet being made of the same design They do offer free Wi-Fi so there were mostly people on their laptops and a ton of people got the fig toast Overall, the coffee was good but we'll prob choose a different shop next time

Yelp
Felix Roasting is most popular for its look, its feel, the aesthetic, which is very well done. That also applies to its other locations. It is very well kept, and nicely decorated, and in general feels like a different place when you walk in. With plush, colorful, fancy stools, a stunning tiling, and the chandeliers, it is quite a beauty to look at an enjoy. However, that does come with a clear price. The coffee is quite expensive. A nice lavender latte will run you up to 8+ dollars. It is beautifully presented however, and the baristas' really put effort into making sure that the presentation is just for the decor of the store so if you are looking for your instagram pics, this may just be the place for you. But the value of coffee frankly is not worth it imo. There is Wifi so you can get work here done for some time and there is also a very well kept bathroom. However, I was asked to leave after an hour and a half, which is fair as it was a peak time when I visited. I do intend on coming back to get some work done here in the future as I truly do love the aesthitic and the feel, and if I'm feeling extra fancy, this is defineately the place to go and visit. I also tried a crossaint which was not able to be warm up, which made me slightly upset, but it did taste delightful. Overall, this is a great place for the instagram influencers getting a good pic, or the people who are willing to pay for an "extra" bougie coffee shop. It is also a decent enviornment to bring your laptop and get some work in, but other than that, it is not worth the price in my opinion.

Yelp
Great coffee, avocado toast, and chocolate chip cookie. Service and preparation are precise. Ambience is on a highwayish road, but lovely design inside, and interesting to watch lots of sidewalk traffic too. Seats are not too comfortable for a long sit.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee at Felix! We happened to stop in on the way to the subway and we were so pleasantly surprised. Coffee is excellent. Nice place to sit for a minute and work or plan your day. Free WiFi for customers. Lovely ambiance. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Such a cute place, really nice people working there and awesome (fast!) service! Delicious smoked salmon sandwiches and very tasty matcha with house made nut milk. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Felix Roasting Co. is a gem! The space is super clean and has such a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered a cold brew with milk, and while I kind of regret adding the milk, the drink still had a smooth and velvety taste that was enjoyable. It's definitely a spot I'll be returning to, especially to try more of their offerings.

Michelle G.

Yelp
Such a cute and sophisticated coffee shop. They make their own nut milk and have developed their own syrup- caramelized vanilla. It was delicious. They also have small bites to eat. The interior is very pretty and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
Six of six times I've been there in the past four months, they haven't had their signature in-house milk for their drinks. Not sure they ever have it.
google avatar

Ayesha A.

Yelp
overpriced but ambiance is unmatched. perfect place for a chill study day. they don't have outlets though so make sure to come fully charged! large windows and peaceful music. i was pleasantly surprised by how good the fig & ricotta toast was! caramelized vanilla latte was also really good. a whopping $22 for both but i honestly think it might be worth it for the overall vibe

Yelp
Came here because it's a really adorable looking coffee shop. But that's all it is. The person who took my order was the most apathetic employee who looked like she hated life and whatever I was about to order. I got a chai latte and a cream cheese bagel (The Notorious RBG). The chai latte is below average, has a fruity aftertaste. The RBG was yummy but took 20 minutes to come because they don't use names to call out orders and someone else snatched mines and I had to ask the unenthusiastic employee for my order who then told me it was called out already? No duh, someone else obviously took it since you don't use names! Lastly, the wifi name says public on the sign. It's not the name of the wifi. It's Felix-Public. This the dumbest review I've ever had to write. Do better. Tell your employees to not look like life is over, put the right name of the wifi on the sign, and use names for orders!! Also, tell your unenthusiastic employees not to take a break and eat with the customers while complaining about how much they hate working there.
