I've been a fan of Fellini's Pizza for years, and generally, the food is consistently good across their locations. Unfortunately, not all Fellini's are created equal when it comes to service.
During a recent visit to the Commerce Ave location in Decatur, I stopped in for a quick slice of pepperoni. While ordering was easy, the customer service left a lot to be desired. The young man with blond dyed hair who brought my slice to the table did so with an attitude that felt unnecessarily cold and unwelcoming. He didn't say a word, made no eye contact, and placed the pizza down in a way that came off as irritated or even disgusted. He then quickly grabbed my table number and walked away without so much as a "here you go" or "enjoy."
I wasn't expecting a full conversation, but basic courtesy goes a long way, especially in food service. After delivering the slice, I noticed he returned to the register, pulled out his phone, and scrolled until more customers came in.
Thankfully, I know this isn't the standard across all Fellini's locations. I've had great experiences at other spots where the staff are friendly, welcoming, and professional. That said, I'll be skipping the Commerce Ave location in the future. The staff here could definitely benefit from more training and coaching on customer service. A great product should be matched by great service--and that just wasn't the case here.
