These Eater 38 Restaurants in San Francisco Are Still Open for Takeout and Delivery

"The food of China’s Jiangnan region, the specialty of this Outer Richmond restaurant, leans heavily into dark, luxurious braises — in other words, the kind of food that travels well, stands up to reheating, and is perfect with a big carton of white rice. Don’t miss the best-in-class braised pork belly or the luscious lion’s head meatball (pictured), all available via DoorDash, Grubhub, or Postmates." - Luke Tsai

Google
Excellent dim sum restaurant! We visited on a Sunday right when they opened at 10:30. By 11 the restaurant was full. Wide range of options, we had a squab & an assortment of dumplings. You can’t go wrong. Everything was delicious. Fast & friendly service as well. Highly recommended!

We recently visited this Chinese restaurant with a big family group, and they did a great job accommodating us. Their menu was extensive and up-to-date, with plenty of set meal options to suit everyone's tastes, which we really appreciated. However, the service was a bit slow during our visit, likely because there was only one hardworking waiter managing all the tables. They were doing their best, but it did affect the overall experience. As for the food, it was a mixed bag—some dishes were absolutely delightful, while others fell short of expectations. With so many options on the menu, it might take a bit of trial and error to find your favorites. Overall, this spot is worth a visit if you’re looking for variety and a place that welcomes larger groups. Just be prepared to be patient with the service and adventurous with the menu!

Kind of in the middle of nowhere in the Richmond district but surprisingly busy on a Monday night. Went for my grandmother's birthday. The soup was very traditional. The egg white fried rice was very good - they did a good job with separating the egg whites unlike some places. Lobster with garlic was ok - garlic tasted like it was pre chopped from a jar and vermicelli fell apart too easily. The lettuce wraps and black bean clams we hadn't ordered in some time so definitely lived up to those memories.

Obas Media (Ede O)

Google
My favorite dimsum spot in SF! They serve the best taste and freshness! Always so busy when you come in. Favorite dishes here are the lobster noodles, chicken feet, fish porridge, pan fried shrimp and chives and tripe!

Google
The food is great and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The dishes are large, tasty, and of good quality. I am.only giving 3 stars for atmosphere because the resto was super cold and although it was crowded and we were not near the door, we were COLD. Quite simply, they don't use any heating. So be warned.

Google
Came with a group and seated quickly given we were there close to when they opened. Food was all pretty good though I found the shrimp dumpling to be on the saltier side. They had all the staple items and some renditions of classics which was nice. Overall, everyone left happy and full

Three Ng Circus

Google
Came here for banquet style meal. Total of about 14 courses for 14 people. 13/14 courses were spot on. I'd call that a win. Prices were reasonable. Standout dish was, of all things, salt and pepper pork chops. Perfectly executed which is key for a simple dish like this. Will be back to try out their dim sum.

Google
Their dim sums and dishes are all good. I am not enthusiastic of rost pork buns but I really like theirs. Gotta try this one if you drop by next time. Their combo set B is also my favorite if you are a fan of sea food. There are several restaurants on the street. This one really stands out.

Yelp
Took a friend here for brunch, though I've never been either. I had a lot of faith considering it is in the area, and I would say o was not disappointed. Not a big restaurant but they manage to fit a lot of tables in. I did not have to wait on a Saturday morning which was fabulous, but unfortunately we were seated right by the kitchen/walkway to the restroom. This is not your fancy dimsum spot like Palette or Koi Palace, but more so a neighborhood spot where folks in the community actually go daily for some authentic bites. No biggie, as long as the food is good. Almost everything I ordered on the menu was great and classic, servers are not super attentive but will offer to cut spring rolls into pieces and bring vinegar upon request. Took off one star because (1) the XLB is housemade but skin is wayyy off, and (2) they did not check my order with me after I submitted my magic marker noted menu - resulting in missing my order of roasted squab. By the time we realized it never came, we had already gotten the check. If I'm ever brunching in the area again, would be down to come back.

Yelp
Hubby was in the area and decided to pick up some dim sum take out. He ordered so many dishes that it cost $67. I have warned him before not to shop or get take out when he's hungry because he goes crazy. Here's a list of what he bought: Spring rolls - nice and crispy but filling was bland. I've had better ones at Good Luck dim sum. Turnip cake - when you cut into it, pieces of it falls apart. It's like chopped pieces formed into a cake and pan fried. It's not a gelatinous piece found at other places. The taste was OK but I wouldn't get again. Fried dumpling pork - the dough was nice and crispy, nice texture with a good chew but filling was goooey and drippy. Pork rib pieces in Blk bean - oily and bland. Not enough black beans flavor. Har gow - large shrimp filling. Tasted pretty good. Siu mai - tasty with nice texture. Pan fried shrimp chive dumpling - a big chunk of shrimp with chives. But wrapper was gooey and too wet. Fried taro balls - the batter is wonderfully crispy. Reminds me of panko crusted katsu. Inside filling Was scanty amount of meat without enough taro. The sticky rice in lotus wrap was OK. Good amount filling but I've had tastier ones elsewhere. It's a dine in restaurant and Hubby had to wait 30 mins for his order which came in a ton of plastic containers. I'd consider dining in for dim sum to try one day but only really liked the shrimp dumplings and siu mai.

Yelp
I used to love this place a lot and enjoyed their peaking duck (it was delicious, and you can tell this place is authentic due to being frequented by a Chinese families and friends). However, I went with some friends today, and we found a MAGGOT in the Chinese broccoli. We know for certain it was a maggot because one of my friends used to have a maggot infestation at their old rental house. Immediately, we felt very nauseous and grossed out and couldn't finish the rest of the food or take it out in a box. I was originally going to put up a picture of the maggot on Yelp, but decided not to so not to make you feel sick too. They had a mandatory 15% service tip as well, which was not mentioned on the menu, and after seeing the maggot, it sucked all the more that we had to pay the extra fee. We all want to vomit, and we don't know yet if we'll get sick with a bacterial infection because maggots can spread it to food.

Yelp
The food was good and service was nice compared to most Cantonese restaurants. The waiters and servers were honest. One of them was actually trying to tell us the tip was already included when we were debating what the service charge meant, lol. The other was warning us, that this seafood dish is very small and tends to be pricey. They served the food quickly and fetched items as we asked for them promptly. We had a pleasant experience with my daughter and husband and son joining after they woke up from their nap. When the other customers were very nice! One older grandpa folded a heart shaped dollar and gave it to us. What a very nice gesture! It's my lucky dollar now!

Yelp
Rating: 5/5 stars Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, Feng Ze Yuan dim sum restaurant promises a culinary adventure that tantalizes the taste buds and satisfies the soul. Our visit on a bustling Sunday for lunch painted a vivid picture of the restaurant's popularity; by 11 am, the cozy establishment was already teeming with eager diners. Despite the crowd, the staff exhibited remarkable efficiency, orchestrating the seating arrangements seamlessly. Though we anticipated a wait, it was a mere 25 minutes before we were ushered to our table, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellent service. The interior, while modest in size, exudes warmth and charm, creating an intimate atmosphere that fosters conviviality. The ambiance, coupled with the attentive service, set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. What truly impressed us was the lightning-fast delivery of our food. Each dish arrived promptly, piping hot and bursting with aromatic flavors, a testament to the kitchen's proficiency. Perusing the extensive menu, we were spoiled for choice with an array of dim sum and Chinese dishes. From classic dumplings to succulent barbecue pork buns, the menu catered to every craving. What's more, the inclusion of English translations and vivid imagery made ordering a breeze, ensuring that even the uninitiated could navigate the culinary landscape with ease. As we indulged in a gastronomic feast, each dish surpassed expectations, delivering a symphony of flavors that danced on our palates. The delicate balance of savory and sweet, coupled with the impeccable presentation, showcased the culinary mastery of the kitchen. Whether savoring traditional dim sum favorites or exploring innovative interpretations of classic dishes, every bite left an indelible impression. In conclusion, Feng Ze Yuan reigns supreme as one of the crown jewels of the San Francisco Bay Area's dim sum scene. For those seeking an authentic and delightful culinary journey, this establishment promises an experience that transcends mere dining. With its impeccable service, delectable fare, and inviting ambiance, Feng Ze Yuan has rightfully earned its place as a destination for discerning food enthusiasts. Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of an unforgettable dining experience.

Yelp
My initial inclination was to give 4 stars. But as I continued to eat more the rating started to dip. Was it because I was getting full or was it because I became more aware of the food? Pros: * all the dim sum was piping hot & fresh * items were cut up as the 7 of us shared all. * siu mai & ha gow good portion size Cons: * the fried stuff dumpling with pork was missing the minced pork. The filling was very gummy. * the fried stuff dumpling with taro was missing the minced pork. Not much taro either. * the sticky rice in lotus leaf was missing the minced pork. And the rice mixture missing the umami. * the pan fried radish cake - missing the dried shrimp and bits of cured bacon wasn't infused. Too smooth and pasty. * the chicken feet missing the black bean and the fire. We ordered more than enough food for the 7 of us. Besides the dim sum we also ordered: * beef chow fun * tomato beef chow mein Hong Kong style The group liked the beef but I thought it had a funny taste. The beef was tender. We ordered a total of 11 dim sum items. Some doubled up. I may return.

Yelp
Came here around 12:30pm on a Monday. The main dining room was packed so they sat us in the side room off to the right. No big deal to be on the side. Service was quick and even though we needed extra time to decide what we wanted since this was the first time we visited this place, they checked on us but didn't make us feel pressured. Food came rather quickly and it was hot and decently flavored. Not the greatest but also not the worst. It was a good lunch that left us satisfied. Forgot to take pictures right away. Sorry. Will be coming back and working this place into our weekly restaurant rotation. However, since almost each dish is about $2 more than one of our regular places we won't be visiting this place as often as the others. Let me add that they have an all gender restroom that is spacious, clean and a good supply of seat covers. They get extra points for that. You may scoff and say they should but not all places actual do.

Yelp
This place is really underrated for how good the food is. It's not a fancy dim sum spot with a nice aesthetic interior like many other places in the bay where the wait time goes up to a couple hours. Just normal and somewhat plain looking. But in terms of flavor it far surpasses most other spots I've tried. Also the wait time is low and it's relatively inexpensive for dim sum. I see some complaints about service but when we went, it was pretty solid. The server even reminded us not to tip since there's an included service charge (we were definitely about to). Kind of strange that they do that for everyone though and not just larger parties as we were just a table of 2.

Shreya K.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood so frequent the spot often. We are always greeted well, and treated with consideration given we are not Chinese (staff is quick to bring forks for my kids, bring plastic cups, explain menu items as needed, etc) . Very kid friendly place. We always get the soy noodles and creamy chicken corn soup which are family favorites. Food is delicious, and the place has a casual, sweet vibe.

Yelp
Swung by this restaurant by our house which we've been several times. Grabbed a table for 9 at 5:30 and it was perfect because the dinner rush hasn't begun yet. To start off, the jellyfish is my favorite thing 6/5 stars, I love it and can eat the entire plate. We ordered our usually dishes which was very good. We ordered some new things such as clay rich pot w preserved meat and another clay pot w tofu. Both were average or below average. Rice was a super big pot w a side of meat and it was very little meat for the rice ratio. Plus it was a $70 dish, didn't think that was worth and won't be getting again. The other clay pot was just average. Aside from the two to three dishes we wouldn't get again everything was pretty good and came out fast. At the end of our meal, we didn't get tong shiu (dessert) or even oranges. Our will was super bill which is weird how our meal didn't eat with that. The table beside up received oranges etc. Not a big deal but is noticeable when wanting to please the guests. I will come back for some / most of the dishes!

Yelp
I'd give Feng Ze 3.5 stars. Street parking is quite difficult but that's not on Feng. After golf we decided not to go to our usual go to Chinese restaurant and give Feng Ze Yuan a try because of their good reviews. Our first time and because we walked 18 holes of golf I think the group was super hungry because we ordered 19 dishes (some doubled). We ordered tomato beef gee mein and dry beef chow fun. Both dishes were decent. We always like to try tomato beef at every new restaurant we go too. The beef chow fun was good too. We ordered dim sum since they were known for dim sum. You choose dim sum on a card with pictures and a marker. Read on reviews service was poor but our server was good and friendly. All dishes came out piping hot and crispy. Fried dim sum came out hot and crispy. Hai Gow and Sui Mai were big. The chicken feet was tender but where was the black bean? The filling in hom sui gok was different than what I am use to? Some of the fillings inside the dim sum were not minced meat; the outside of the dim sum was hot and crispy. Most of the dim sum was good. We were automatically charged a service fee but I assumed it was probably because we had 7 people, but if you read Yelp reviews, beware to check your bill because it seems they do it to all bills? Double check you received all items ordered and charged because we were missing two dishes and when we asked to cancel the sticky rice in lotus leaf, waiter said no because it's already made, yet we had to wait at over 10 minutes before we got it. The second dish that we didn't get he ended up letting us cancel it. So check your receipt because prices are already on the higher side so you don't want to pay for dishes you didn't receive! Overall pretty good dim sum and at least we received decent service.

Yelp
I came here because it's an all day dim sum based on other reviews. It's in Richmond district so street parking isn't too hard. I like the menu has pictures for each dishes with both mandarin and English so it's easy to identify what it is. The dim sum is fresh and not as greasy as traditional one. I'm most impressed with taro cakes. It has lots of taros and crispy like hash browns. I just wish they can provide fresh chili sauce and soy sauce. The ones on the table seem to be there forever so it's the first time I ate dim sum without any soy and chili sauce. It's still pretty good though. I'm glad to find a place that I can enjoy dim sum anytime of the day and the food is tasty!

Yelp
Let's face the hard reality that this restaurant is not set up for solitary diners, especially those who happened upon the place on a spontaneous Outer Richmond walk. No, they're set up for big banquets like red egg & ginger parties and Nai Nai's 80th birthday party. Even though the food pictures taped to the windows should've forewarned me of the banquet-size portions, I entered with an open mind and a healthy appetite. The owner sat me at the smallest table they had, which was also the closest one to the front door. Naturally they had a voluminous menu, but I pointed to the picture of the $18.95 Steamed Pork Ribs in Olive with Pumpkin and was met with the owner's furrowed brow. It came out looking nothing like the picture (photo: https://bit.ly/3E0R4E6), but the ribs were pretty tasty. The pumpkin wasn't quite ripe though (photo: https://bit.ly/3QNybw2). FOOD - 3 stars...interesting dish but the unripe pumpkin and casual presentation didn't help AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...big place as you'd expect SERVICE - 3 stars...well, at least they served me TOTAL - 3 stars...happy birthday, Nai Nai! Yelp
My mom mentioned this place a couple times before, so we decided to try it out. We came on a Saturday around 11am and was seated at the last small table they had. Ha gao - 4/5, skin was a bit too sticky and broke apart when I tried to pick it up (very sad). Shrimp itself was alright. Siu mai - 4/5, typical siu mai, could have a little more flavor. Steamed shrimp and leek dumpling - 3/5, could have more leek added in and more taste. DF shrimp in tofu skin - 3/5, a tad dry and the shrimp was slightly overcooked. Shrimp rice noodle rolls - 4.5/5, huge shrimp, tender rice noodles. Pretty good! Steamed beef balls - 3.5/5, docked points for not having water chestnuts! Flavor was alright, not too salty. Radish cake in XO - 4.5/5, includes dried shrimps, dried scallops, and good flavor. Had big chunks of lo bak and very flavorful with a nice crisp. Best place for this so far! Custard bun - 3/5, typical custard bun. I haven't had one in so long so I was excited to have one, but this one just didn't hit. Maybe a bit too bland. Overall, their food isn't as salty as most other places so if you prefer that, this is the place to go. Unfortunately, halfway through the meal and at the end, a few little "friends" decided to visit our table. Not sure if they were baby cockroaches, but there were a total of two on the table and one on the side of the table. We sat at the small table against the wall right before the restroom.

Yelp
Went with my friends for dinner. The oyster sauce Chinese broccoli had a maggot in it. Also they charged a 15% mandatory service fee which wasn't clear until they gave the bill. Xiao long bao was mushy. The Peking duck was good and the chao fun was good. Overall it was decent food but not clean which is gross.

Yelp
Yooo this place is a diamond in the rough in the city. Don't sleep on this place because it is a Cantonese cuisine dream come true. The staff is super friendly and it gives off that homie feeling of just having a great time with the fam. Absolutely recommend the giant surf clams and the Japanese tofu beef
google avatar

Grace T.

Yelp
When we're wanting Cantonese dim sum this place will satisfy our cravings. We want the basic dim sum "comfort" foods - shrimp and/or pork dumplings, steamed/baked baos, rice noodle rolls, fried sesame balls, custard tarts, and more. We don't really want to pay high prices for fancy gourmet dim sum and this place won't burn a hole in your wallet. Service is basic, not super attentive but takes care of our needs.

Yelp
This is a great, no-frills Chinese restaurant near Ocean Beach in SF. We walked in around 6 on a Saturday and got a table right away, but the place filled up pretty quickly over the next half hour. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share: salt and pepper pork chops, stir-fried lotus root, steamed egg with clams, combination noodles, and sautéed snow pea leaves. I found everything to be delicious, even though I had never had a few of the items. I would especially recommend the pork chops (crispy and super flavorful) and the snow peas (how do they make them so tender?!). They also gave us a complimentary soup to start our meal off. I wasn't a huge fan but others really liked it. Lastly, street parking is available, you might just have to search a few blocks away. Stop by if you're looking for a comforting Chinese meal! I hope to be back and try their extensive dim sum offerings next time.

Yelp
When it comes to Chinese food, I am extremely picky but Feng Ze has exceeded my expectations. Parking can be quite difficult here but once you find a spot, it's all smooth sailing from there. It's typically pretty easy to get a table right away but if you have a large party, I highly recommend calling before to reserve a table. Highlights: Surf clams with noodles (5/5)- you can tell the surf clam is fresh and not from a can. The clam is sweet and has a good bite to it instead of a soggy texture. The noodles and clam are generously coated with a umami sauce. This is a must get. Honey walnut shrimp (5/5)- the shrimps are perfectly fried and are voluptuous. I appreciate the fact that there isn't an over abundance of sauce coated onto the shrimp. Clams (4/5)- clams were fresh and no sand in sight. Lobster (4/5) - was delicious but the only downfall was that there was more meat in the claws as opposed the the body. Dimsum all day! I typically can't wake up early enough for dim sum so I love that you can order dim sum for dinner. The chicken feet is to die for! Overall this place is one of my favorite spots to go get Chinese food.

Yelp
Okay I didn't take a picture of everything but this place is really good!! I've been eating at many Chinese restaurants lately and I'm recalling this place to be exceptionally good. The jellyfish/ pickled daikon dish has always been my favorite. They do it very good here, I wanted seconds. Their giant surf clam w/ cellophane noodle was flavorful & I just wanted to eat more. Typically a half shell is too much for me, but this time I wanted to continue eating it. Overall the service and food was delicious. I've lived nearby since I was young and since they have changed owners the food has been amazing. Dim sum is also very good. They take reservation.

Yelp
Was in the area and decided to stop by for a late lunch on a Saturday arou d 1:30pm. We were seated right away. For dim sum they give you a menu and marker and you mark what you want on the menu! All the food started trickling out after our order was taken. The food was so good! You could tell everythi g was freshly cooked! The char siu bao is the best we have had in a realllllly long time! Def recommend for dim sum! It really hit the spot!
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
This place's dim sum is better than so many other fancy dim sum restaurants, but the service is definitely needed to be improved. Since they are automated charging the service fee. They don't really care or provide the same good service that we received in the past. Please bring the regular service back. The dim sum taste delicious and still top of my list! :)

Yelp
Great food and love free coconut chicken soup comes with dinner and all dishes we ordered was delicious. Will come back again

Yelp
Food was delicious!!! Prices were reasonable. Parking is always tough in the avenues but it was worth it. We order the C set menu. We also ordered fried chicken stuff sticky rice....let me tell you...it was SOOOO good. The vegetarian dishes weren't something I would rave about but everything us was yummy.

Yelp
ALL DAY DIM SUM BABYYYY. we love that + it's really good. Dare to say, better than Good Luck Dim Sum (which is already a solid place) Dishes: -Steamed shrimp and chives dumpling -Cilantro and beef rice noodle roll -Siu Mai -Turnip cake Logistics: -limited, free, street parking -accepts card -sweet service that's quick -reusable laminated menu that you mark with lots of pictures -lots of big tables, great for large gatherings. They also have a private room with an additional 6 big tables
google avatar

Karen Z.

Yelp
Went with a big group on a Saturday morning, had to wait a bit but food is worth the wait! Menu has dim sum as well as regular dishes, my highlights were the tofu and the lobster noodles. They are both super flavorful and authentic. Tofu is crispy on the outside with a lot of flavors, and tender on the inside. Lobster noodles is also rich in taste and has 1 whole lobster! The dim sum dishes are also good, but I think you can get more authentic tastes and styles elsewhere. Just like any other authentic Chinese restaurant tables are rather close to each other and the environment is not the newest or cleanest. We ordered a lot so averaged around $40 per person post tax and tip.

Yelp
Superb restaurant that checks all the boxes. Parking out here is a pain but its not their fault, just need to circle some blocks before finding a spot. Came in on a Sunday around 1 for a late lunch. Called in to get a "ticket" number so we could get seated as soon as possible, or as soon as we parked our car. Pretty quick service and delicious, fresh house-made dim sum (majority of it is fresh made, the fried dough crueller wrapped in the rice sheet wasn't freshly fried, you can tell. But Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Charsiu Bao was, you can tell by the size of the bao or dumps. Definitely suggest to also order their salt and pepper fried pork chop which comes in a huge portion, as well as get a wok fried noodle from their solid selection. Everything came piping hot and you can tell they've got some good 'wok hei', they crank up the heat on the kitchen, ensuring good meals come out in timely manner and retain the warmth. Been here many times, haven't been disappointed yet!

Yelp
No lunch specials. 15% auto gratuity. Food was decent and serving sizes were good. Prices were on the high side. Come here for a family meal - solo diners will not have a lot of choices.

Yelp
Had their pan fried seafood noodle. The flavors reminded me of my home town, San Gabriel Valley (SGV). Legit. Didn't cut corners. Noodles so crispy. Sauce had a hint of ginger. Loved ittttt. Would definitely be al back to try more.

Yelp
After exploring Land's End, we found ourselves in this area, which really didn't have too many restaurant options to eat lunch. We decided to eat here and it ended up being really great! The menu has a variety of options including dim sum and other classic dishes. Steamed Egg Yolk Bun ($6.50): This came out nice and hot. The bun wasn't dry and egg yolk liquid filling was flavorful. Steamed Pork Ribs in Black Bean Sauce ($6.50): These were a bit too oily for my taste. I also felt like a lot of the pieces were majority bone. I would pass on this next time. Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf Wrap ($7.50): My first time trying this! I really liked how fragrant the sticky rice was with the lotus leaf. It would be hard for me to eat this by itself but it paired really well with the sauce in our mushroom & tofu dish. Braised Crispy Tofu & Assorted Mushroom ($16.95): I wasn't expecting much with this, but it ended up being our favorite item! The tofu is somehow fried perfectly so that it's a thin layer of crispyness on the outside and then the soft, warm, tender tofu texture on the inside. The sauce also brought the tofu and variety of mushrooms together so they paired well. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area and I would stop by again!

Yelp
4.5 stars for my first visit but rounding up for some awesome dim sum! It's difficult to find good dim sum that doesn't break the bank, and I'm glad I found Feng Ze Yuan. They were already super busy at 10:45am on a Sunday, but it was Father's Day; however, I could also see them being busy on the weekends in general. There was a small crowd of people waiting for tables when I arrived at 11:30am. It took a couple of tries, but I was finally able to call in my order. You can also order through GruhHub or Uber Eats, but will have to pay the markup per item (Uber Eats was also disabled that day). My order was supposed to be ready in 30 minutes, but it took closer to an hour; thankfully, I was also running late, but did have to hang around a bit once I arrived. It was definitely worth the wait! I tried: -C20. Shrimp & Pork Dumpling/Siu Mai ($7.50): Yum- The siu mai was more pork than shrimp, but it was very meaty but also tender, juicy, and flavorful. One of the better siu mai I've had in a while- recommended! -E06. Honey Walnut Prawn ($17.95, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qsHUi4-jHXBJi8d6dZSAwQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and I appreciated that they separated the sauce so that it didn't get soggy. I toasted my shrimp and walnuts for a bit before mixing with the sauce, and it was great. I loved how crispy the walnuts were- recommended! -Baked BBQ Pork Bun ($6.50?, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_BbJx8oE4YOtyyAw-51raQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I saw the photos but didn't see this on the menu; however, they said it was available when I ordered it, score! I always like the sweet topping with the savory filling; their topping was not as crunchy as other versions I've had, but still good. Although the filling was plentiful, there was a little too much 5 spice flavor for me. This was still good overall though, and I would order it again. -C10. Deep Fried Sesame Ball (Filled w/Lotus Paste, $6.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1oYOn8MIqRYTx1-vqX8n9w&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Yum- one of the best deep fried sesame balls I've had in a while! I like lotus paste over red bean paste, and there aren't too many places that make this with lotus paste. The sesame ball was crispy on the outside but deliciously chewy on the inside, and the lotus paste wasn't too sweet. A MUST TRY! I will definitely be back to try more dim sum dishes when I'm back in the area. Make sure to ask for some Hot Mustard to go with your dim sum, it adds another layer of flavor! Only indoor dining was available, and it was pretty packed inside. There is street parking in this area, but it can be tough to find.

Yelp
I've visited Feng Ze Yuan for dim sum a few times, and their dim sum is spot on! I was introduced to this place by a dear friend who happens to be a chef, and I trust his recommendations for all things food and drinks, especially when it comes to dim sum. While San Francisco has its share of popular dim sum spots like Dragon Beaux, Yank Sing, and Hong Kong Lounge, its hidden gem status sets Feng Ze Yuan apart. You won't encounter the long waits that you often find at these other places. Part of its allure is its location in the Outer Richmond, a bit off the beaten path for dim sum enthusiasts. Now, about the food - every dish we ordered was fantastic. The only drawback on this particular visit was our seating. I had my luggage with me, and it was a hassle to be seated in the side room when you entered and headed to the right. However, our group of four managed just fine. Despite its location in the Outer Richmond, if you're in the mood for some delicious dim sum, I highly recommend making the trip to Feng Ze Yuan. You'll be delighted with the food quality and that it's less crowded than some of the more popular spots in the city.

Yelp
My fiancée and I had dinner here last night, and enjoyed it. Comfortable, good/friendly service, and tasty/well priced food. We particularly liked the turnip cakes, mustard greens, and home style stir fried rice noodles.

Yelp
My new favorite place to get dim sum in the Bay. The portions are large and the service is quick. Our party of two came for yum cha on a Tuesday for brunch and found this place packed with people. So make sure you are mindful of the time when stopping by as there might be a wait. Everything we ordered came piping hot and full of flavor. Personal favorites included the chive and shrimp dumplings which were full of shrimp and were massive. The wrapper wasn't chewy and the chives added the perfect refreshing flavor to the dumpling. The chicken feet were also pretty large with tons of meat and came in a savory and sweet sauce. We also tried the empress clams with vermicelli which came loaded with clam meat. Will definitely be back to try more dishes and bring a larger group to order more :)

Yelp
Food was ok. Pretty standard dim sum menu. We rice rolls, taro cake with fried shrimp and veggies. Taro cake really stood out: it had real taro in it and is very tasty.

Yelp
Authentic Cantonese Dim Sum place with reasonable prices. Especially recommend the shrimp dumplings and stuffed tofu skin rolls. Not easy to find parking although. They automatically added 15% tip to your bill so please don't double tipping.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to come for dinner and have been here 3 times for dinner, in addition to having their dim sum. First off, their complimentary soup is usually black chicken with ginseng soup. Tastes very authentic and legit. We have ordered the set menu as well as ala carte items. Stand outs... pan fried noodles, deep fried flounder fish (they also do this 2 ways), peking style spare ribs, clay pots, basically we enjoyed everything that we ate. Family run business and they try their best to accommodate especially when they are busy.

Yelp
- No good communication with service - tipping is not optional (already included in bill) - food was not the best, it was decent quality for a high price We didn't feel welcomed here, The waiter did not have good communication with us, said very little to nothing. The waiters did not check on us to see how we were doing or to see if we needed anything. The food was okay It was not fully satisfying. I would say this restaurant is really for big families or big groups. Do not recommend for couples.

Yelp
Came back a week later for dinner with a couple of friends. We ordered their bo ja fan which took about 30 minutes to come out but very much so worth waiting. The salt and pepper fried pork, Peking duck, half shell clams and a dish of pea sprouts. Everything was extremely tasty and came out quickly. It was a rainy Saturday and the restaurant was quite busy. Almost every table was occupied. Excited to come back to try out other options.

Yelp
Pretty good set menus with a lot of variety of some of their most popular dishes. I would say my favorites were the stews and the fried things! Best for family or large party gatherings.

Yelp
I iike this place which is different from most of its colleagues. it's seemingly intended mainly for large groups such as family gatherings, lots of tables are seating for 8 with those large rotating platters so people don't have to get busy reaching out or asking somebody to pass this or that. also this is one of those few i've seen that offers set dinners for large groups. you could arrange your own course selection of course but these are pre-planned, seem to make sense as a grouping of dishes, and are priced to make it more affordable for a group of more than 6. but the main reason we chose this place was it was open on sunday evening and served dim sum all day. also that i'd never been here and couldn't imagine something being this far out on balboa or that I haven't already happened onto. but whatever the case here it is, and it was worth the drive. canc parking was easy but then i've always been lucky finding parking places in cities. it's the only kind of good luck i have, not that the rest is bad luck but this is so consistent people are a bit amazed. many times i've pulled up right in front of where we're going and there we are, no problemo. i have some rules that i believe are required of me to observe, else i'll lose this one bit of good fortune that has followed me around wherever i've lived, even in manhattan where having an ungaraged car is sure to result in dozens of parking tickets. well, as it turns out i did accumulate a handful of these over time but was never called on the carpet or required to pay up. could be a warrant out for me back there even now, but it would surely be for the least of my transgressions. So the food here is in the middle of good, meaning it's authentic mostly cantonese with some dishes szechuan level of spice. lots of seafood/fish dishes and all in all it's worth another trip to do this place justice. file it under needs further study, but so far promising alternative if really want dim sum off-hours.

Yelp
We love our neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Dim sum is good and the seafood dinner is also great.

Yelp
Solid dim sum restaurant that also serves regular dishes. This is a really popular place with Chinese families so I would strongly advise that you come here after 1pm like we did on a Saturday. Not only will you have much better luck with neighborhood parking, you also won't have to battle the loud crowds and long wait. I'll cut to the chase and tell you that the egg yolk lava buns and the marinated jellyfish were the best of everything we ordered. Check out my pictures for prices and names of dishes. Do note that there is an automatic service charge of 15% to your bill and tea fee is $1.25 per person! Bottomline, it was good enough to satisfy my dim sum cravings but nothing amazing that wowed me.

Yelp
Everything came out hot and steamy. Ordered six items and good thing since both of us were full. Best to least. Chicken feet, siu mai, chew chiu dumpling with peanut, fish w/ cilantro, rice noodle wrap fried bread, and fried taro was overcooked. It was stiff. Service was good. They were very busy, so it took a while. Be careful, they gave us the wrong check, but they corrected it promptly. It happened to a friend at a different time. Taste better steamy hot. Not too many small tables for two. I like the set up of ordering. Use erase pen to mark on their colorful menu. Less papers. Good for the environment. Found parking nearby. Got busy when leaving with a wait.

Yelp
This was my first time here. At first glance, it doesn't seem like much. Even when you get inside, it's a very typical Chinese restaurant. However, once the food started coming out of went from typical to amazing. Everything tasted very fresh, seasoned well, and very flavorful. This was the first round of 2 orders of gon chow ngoh ho or dry chow fun with beef and 1 order sup chow ngoh yuk chow fun or beef chow fun with gravy. Then the mountains of dim sum started to come out. Again, everything was fresh and hot. The shrimp in the ha cheung fun and ha gow were so plump and tasty. I think I found my new dim sum spot. I know some people comment that the wait staff was rude, but this was not my experience at all. If you're in the area, even if you're not, come check it out.

Yelp
Came here for dimsum on a Sunday afternoon. Food tasted pretty authentic and sizes of the dimsum were hugeee. Noticed they have dinner sets available and the menu looked amazing; would definitely come back to try those next time!

Yelp
So delicious! There are a few differences in the menu that what I saw on Yelp (prices, availabilities) but this place has all of your typical dim sum items. I've heard the wait can be long during the usual dim sum hours but after that passes, it's not too bad at 1pm. Since we came a bit late, the cute taro buns and baked BBQ pork buns were sold out. Come early if you want the popular items! Every dish came out steaming hot, smelled amazing. Taste wise, nothing was overly salty or sweet. My group liked everything we ordered. Some of the items we got were the spare ribs, Chinese donut rice rolls, pan fried turnip cake with XO sauce, chicken feet, shrimp dumpling, stuffed tofu skin rolls, steamed egg custard bun, sponge cake, deep fried taro dumpling, sticky rice in lotus leaf. Service was better than I expected, one of the male servers was funny and let us pick the "bigger" plate of salted egg fried pumpkin.

Yelp
This may be my all-time favorite Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. I stumbled upon it because I wanted to eat somewhere near Lands End. This place is a 2-minute drive to the main parking lot if you're hoping to do the same. For two, I ordered the Steamed Egg Yolk Bun, Steamed Shrimp & Chives Dumpling, Salt & Pepper Spare Rib, Stir Fried Pea Sprout with Garlic, and Honey Walnut Prawn. (Yes, this was a ton of food and it lasted for multiple delicious meals!) First, I was so impressed by the speed and freshness of the food. I came later in the afternoon but there still were a number of other parties in the restaurant. It felt like some of the food came out in minutes (with the dimsum taking slightly longer), but everything was perfect. I especially loved the Salt & Pepper Spare Rib and Stir Fried Pea Sprout with Garlic. The restaurant also gave very generous portions of rice--something I didn't realize until I was packing up our leftovers. I thought we'd made a decent dent in our food, but while putting the leftovers into takeout containers, I would've charged another $30 for how much we had left (rice included)! One thing to note is that the restaurant seemed to prefer cash. The waiter still took my credit card but he asked if I had cash (and everyone else was paying with cash). All in all, I highly recommend this place! There were large and small tables to accommodate differently sized parties, and this was one of the few Chinese restaurants that didn't close for a few hours in the afternoon between lunch and dinner.

Yelp
44th and Balboa in the Avenues is another world when driving West on a sunny day with the calm Pacific shimmering in the distance. It's quiet when you get out that far away from the downtown, eerily quiet. Feng Ze Yuan is an unusual name for a Cantonese / Shandong style restaurant especially when you're used to an anglicized translation into something more common. Hey but what's in a name as long as the food is decent. Three of us had dim sum there on a weekday, the restaurant was packed and you would never know it from the outside. No perceivable line and it was quiet. Laminated menu and a marker provided in this CASH only place. We marked a 7 items with two large plates - Tomato Beef Chow Mien (craving for fried noodles) and Salted Egg Fried Pumpkin, both around $18 or so. Also had smaller items of: Siu Mai (tasted different when compared to other restaurants but acceptable), Hom Sei Gok (Fried Meat Dumpling), Pai Guet (Steamed Pork Riblets), Beef Stew Rice Noodle Roll in a Clay Pot (needed more beef stew), Pan Fried Turnip Cake. All items around $6-7. So a dim sum lunch, inflation / COVID / war premium rates, ran us around $90 with tax and tip. Eating out is getting pricey and I doubt the prices will ever be reduced. Sad. Notables: - All items came out just prepared, steamed, fried, etc. thus very HOT. - Not much parking in the avenues - There is a coupon on the take-out menu that offers a FREE chicken chow mien or vegetable fried rice if you order over $55 in food, excluding preset lunch or dinner specials, the Waiter never told us this - LOUSY. So you know they're not going out of their way to create goodwill. - I did not see any special set menus but noticed a lot of pictures of items that many restaurant's don't offer... ie.. Whole Fried Deboned Chicken Stuffed with Sticky Rice... check out my pics and enlarge... Overall, I would have given a 4 star but was not happy about not being told about the free chow mien or fried rice. Spent way more than $55.
