The most exciting new MICHELIN Guide hotels for February 2022

"There’s no city in Brazil or anywhere else quite like Salvador, and the 1934 Art Deco–style Fera Palace Hotel is a local treasure. In some ways it’s still the same grand hotel it was during its midcentury heyday, when it hosted Carmen Miranda, Pablo Neruda, and Orson Welles; look closer, though, and you’ll see a hotel that has kept pace with the times." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Our stay at Fera Palace Hotel in Salvador de Bahia was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with such gentleness and kindness that we immediately felt at home. In our rooms, we were delighted to find thoughtful details like chocolate truffles, local candies, and even a gift set of Carolina Herrera tester perfumes. Everything was spotless, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. The waiters were always smiling, attentive, and genuinely warm. One unforgettable detail was the hotel’s signature scent—every space smelled amazing, adding to the overall luxurious and inviting atmosphere.

A very decently renovated historical building in the historical center of Salvador. They’ve aimed for a luxury vibe and it wasn’t a terrible attempt at it. Staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful, expect maybe for the hotel’s restaurant, where every request is treated almost as an imposition. Rooms are a bit small, but for a short stay in the city it will do the job.

We had the most amazing stay at Fera. Everything about this place was perfect. From the warm welcome from Leandro who is bursting with energy and filled with lots of knowledge and passion for the city, to Bruno's care and patience with planning a birthday surprise for our friend. All of the staff was so friendly and kind. The rooms were spacious and nothing short of exceptional, with beds so comfortable it was hard to wake up. The rooftop pool and bar were also great, with a lovely view of the harbor. As a group of foodies, the food at the hotel was phenomenal. We treated ourselves to some massages with Margot, who really made it worth it. We were only at Fera for two nights but felt like we were already part of their family. The history behind this hotel, the location and the staff made our stay in Salvador so special. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you to everyone at Fera Palace.

Loved our stay! Dinner with Andre as our server was fantastic. Great delicious food and hospitality. The sunset view from the rooftop pool was magical. The rooms had wonderful character and the staff were warm and welcoming.

Overall, a wonderful experience! Learned that this was one the first luxury hotel in Salvador! The staff was mostly hospitable, Bruno was awesome. Skip the breakfast. I would say that for two people, paying 400R$ was a little overkill for the small, yet delicious selection of food. The bed was so comfy and the AC unit was overall comfortable, but sometimes the room felt a little moist. The bathroom was nice with a spray bidet. The shower took a while to warm up, but once it did, the water pressure was great and the hot was awesome. The hallways would echo and you could hear people talking and entering their rooms, but once they were there, the soundproofing was totally fine and didn't bother anyone. Oh and the elevator was interesting! Just make sure you're peaking through the door to make sure your ride is there. You'll get what I mean when you see it. The view from the room was fine, but if you go to the rooftop with pool, the view is even better! Gym was adequate and got one workout in while there. Neighborhood was overall fine. It was kinda mix, but it was safe regardless. Would come back again!

We had an outstanding stay at Fera Palace. The location is excellent - within walking distance from the busy Pelourinho district and a 15min Uber ride to enjoy the ‘local’ beach life in Barra and nightlife in Rio Vermelho. ||What makes this place stand out though are its thoughtful staff who have made us feel welcome during our four nights. We arrived at 3am and wish we remember the lovely front desk staff who just had the right level of welcome and acknowledgment of our exhaustion from a long day of travel. Then from then on, Jonatas who looked after us everyday at breakfast; Leo and Cassio who made us feel that any request is not a problem; and Luis who is the ultimate connoisseur of the true Salvador experience — they’re the names of those we interacted with regularly. But for sure there are many others we missed, like the housekeeping staff who worked tirelessly to keep the place immaculate and exuding of warmth that comes with Bahian hospitality. I’ve read reviews about the room being small; which, while technically true, doesn’t impact the stay because there’s a rooftop pool and bar to chill out in if you need to relax and read after a morning of exploring. ||Bottom line: there’s no other place I’d stay in while in Salvador than Fera Palace. It’s most definitely worth it.

Yelp
I have the honor of being the first reviewer! Honestly the best place to stay in Salvador. They knew my name before I had even checked in. It was crazy busy but they allowed for early check bc my room was available and the accommodated all my requests. They left me a hand written welcome note with delectable treats. The room was immaculate. So much attention to detail. The views amazing. The service impeccable. You are literally treated like royalty. The breakfast was...beyond! A taste of modern luxury in a city of cultural explosion. FERA palace made my experience that much better. Salvador the city...though...speaks for itself. So much love. Thanks FERA for going above and beyond!

Yelp
THIS HOTEL DOES NOT ACCOMMODATE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. I made a reservation at this hotel for one night to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately I have a disability that requires a special assistance medical service dog that was denied by this hotel. Furthermore the staff was very rude when talking to my partner and I. Their behavior is quite shameful and I hope no one else has to feel as disrespected and worthless as they made me feel.
