The 38 Essential Orange County Restaurants

"Probiotics rule at Fermentation Farm — thanks to nearly a dozen different on-tap kombucha flavors, and food options like a French onion soup with raw cheese and a kraut-filled grilled cheese sandwich. Visit on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. when a farmers market featuring produce from Rosewood Farms and Sunny Cal Farms pops up in the restaurant’s parking lot. Monthly classes include an intro to bone broth and fermentation techniques like kombucha brewing. A new location opened at River Street Marketplace in San Juan Capistrano." - Jenn Tanaka

Nice place with kombucha on tap, a mini market and some good food. My favorite was the sourdough corn bread. We also ordered a tuna salad sandwich and the vegetarian rice ramen. I would return, but out of these, I'd only order the corn bread again. Service was great. We purchased chocolate as well as the best dates I've ever had in the market.

This place is really interesting with a broad menu. There are so many kombucha flavors and unique dishes to choose from. Everything is high quality and fresh and I appreciate that they give you an estimated wait time for the food to be prepared. Vegan and vegetarian accommodations can be easily made - the staff were knowledgable of the menu items to make modifications as needed. I recommend checking out their frozen food section for easy make-at-home items as well.

The beef dip was a grand total of 6 bites. Must have been 400 calories for $18. This place has great reviews but maybe I ordered wrong. WAY TOO SMALL.

You will find all kinds of tasty foods and beverages here. They have a full menu for dine-in or take out. Plus, there is an incredible variety of fresh and packaged health foods that may change your life. This place is a gem for everyone. From kombucha and sauerkraut to onion soup and chili. I've never seen anything like it.

Deliciously local, farm to table eatery with a marketplace as well. It’s amazing how they source their food and so they’re best to provide organic ingredients. We had the sourdough pancakes with blueberries, vegan chili, and two slices of homemade sourdough with grass fed butter and seasonal fig jam, paired with fresh kombucha on tap- a mix of mango and guava. Yummmm

The food experience was 3 but the storefront was nice, so I’m rating this place a 4. The food was decent for the most part (a bit pricey), but they should either get rid of or rename their ramen. It was so bland and flavorless, we were shocked that it was sold. Also, we ordered a black bean chili but got a ground beef chili instead. They offered to replace it, but it would have been bad if someone was religious or something. The concept of the store and focusing on healthy options is amazing. I just wish our experience was better.

I finally made it ! I’ve been wanting to try tacos Tuesday’s and I was very glad I did. I ordered everything in the menu and it was all good… the winners for me were the citrus chicken and sweet potato tacos!! Those were perfectly balanced with flavor and texture. It’s been a long time since I had a meal that energized me and though I ate a ton of calories I didn’t feel stuffed ! Gotta try it

Positive and Negative. Hate posting negative reviews. Positive first. The food is very good. Being a chef and knowing what’s good and has good energy. Have to say FF is at the TOP. enjoy the food very much. Prices are def high for the amount of food you get. Have to say the 1 taco for $8-10 is nuts. You should get two for that price. The service could be much better w fermentation knowledge. Now the negative. I heard so much about the egg salad. I had to try. Got home and a few days later w excitment I opened it up and found finger diggings in my jar. I was thoroughly disgusted. I can’t believe someone took there fingers and grabbed a few bites and put it back on FF shelf to sell. HuH??? Is this real??. The deadline to eat it is today. It’s now trashed. Won’t be back. Sorry you lost me. Will spread the word.
