Don't be afraid of this place. Owner is friendly even if he doesn't seem like it at first. Just no BS. Knowledgeable and willing to help out if you ask the right questions. Decent prices too. Will be going back when I need more supplies. Maybe call ahead if you are looking for something specific.

Im amending my review. If you are a woman brewer, take caution. I was treated like I did not understand or was incapable of understanding chemistry. Good prices, good supplies. Not always spot on with the advice..ale yeast does indeed make your mead taste like beer...but usually good.

Frank was eager to help, and very knowledgeable. This was our first time making cider, and he asked many questions to help make sure we bought the correct products. He even gave us advice on choosing apples/juice to have the best outcome. Went above and beyond. Thanks Frank!

Walked in and the owner was immediately arrogant and very condescending towards me. I figured I would go support a local small business and was dealt with a very dissatisfying experience. I would not recommend this business to any of my friends or family due to the LACK of customer service this business offers. In response to the owner: this was not an incorrect statement. I have been to many businesses and only when I am dealt with such a negative experience within a business would I ever feel the need to write a review to make sure people are making the correct decision prior to going to said business. As you can already read the reviews prior to mine, you indeed do have a problem with talking with people that needs to be addressed and fixed so you can help maintain your business. I know many of small business owners who actually treat their customers with respect rather than off the bat negativity and snide remarks. What would going into the store bring to me? I should have recorded your actions. If you believe the way you treated me was good customer service you need to get a reality check bud. I said I read something online as a reference because I have never brewed and you treated me like an idiot for saying that. After reading some of these 5 star reviews the only thing I can think of who would actually rate you this much would be your friends and family. No one in their right mind would ever rate a store 5 stars for being treated like they are wasting their time.

Bought a kit here, all ingredients were expired, new to brewing so didn't check until the yeast did not start, was 2 years expired. Called and the owner said he would make it right. My daughter took the yeast container and malt container in showing the expiration date, I don't get to Omaha very often, I live 4 hours away. He said he couldn't replace that kit and have her a kit worth $20 less with expired ingredients!!! Do not waste your time here or at least check the expiration on the kits. Will not return here!

I've been going to this store for several years it's where I first bought my wine making supplies when I got started. The owner is extremely knowledgeable in all ways of fermenting but bear in mind that he gets asked the same half-dozen questions 50 times a week so yes he does get a little impatient particularly when people walk in and think they know what they're talking about. As far as I know this is the only place in Omaha that you can buy grape concentrates if you want to make a good merlot this is the place to start!

Best home brewing store in the Omaha area... unfortunately. Prices are really high, it's cheaper to buy supplies online and have them shipped. The owner always makes me feel like I'm wasting his time. He's got a lot of good information, but it takes some effort to get anything out of him other than a stern gaze, a few grunts and the occasional snide remark. I've been brewing for about ten years now and I only enter under emergency conditions. It's not pleasant, but like it or hate it he is mostly likely the only guy locally that has what you need.

I've been here a few times now and have not experienced any rude behavior from the owner as some people have said that they have experienced. The guy isn't the biggest talker in the world but he knows his stuff. He's helped me twice now with problems and also helped me carry stuff out to the car when I bought some grain and other supplies. The prices are a little higher than Cornhusker Beverage next door but I think he's a lot more knowledgeable than they are.

This spot is literally just a space full of boxes. But I walked in, Frank asked what I needed, and he found it. About 2 minutes later I was all paid and out the door. That's successful shopping in my book!

Ok, let's be honest. Do you want someone to be nice to you, or do you want save $100 not buying shit you don't need? All I ever hear from other homebrewers about this place is "He yelled at me because I wanted to buy something and it was the wrong thing WAAAA" or "I came in solely to ask a question that I could have googled in 30 seconds and we was short with me WAAAA" I can honestly say that Frank has never once failed to answer a question I had, maybe he was rough with his answer, but he was always right. The 'other store' around the corner is perfectly happy to sell you a bunch of crap you don't need all smiles and lollipops (no really, they have lollipops) but frankly all you're getting is the stuff. I asked a question about one of their products once and the answer was "I'm not really sure, we just sell this stuff". Here at least you get a wealth of knowledge if you can listen to his rant on why your question is dumb. In short, I'd rather be scolded and smarter than just poorer, go here and don't be a wuss.

Owner is unpleasant, selection is weak. He refuses to carry products that he doesn't personally use. Likes to tell you he has some advanced chemistry degree and he knows more than you. Generally condescending. You get the idea. Avoid going here.

I am new in home brewing and this was the first home brew shop I went to. The guy was very rude and treated me like I was an idiot. The place was packed full of boxes, etc...which was understandable to fit products in there but it was also not very clean. He acted like I was wasting his time by being there. I can put up with a dirty place but I can't put up with someone who treats customers like that and expects to get money from me. He then has the guts to give me a card. I went to a different home brew shop in Omaha and they said they have many people who come into their store and tell them the owner at Fermenters is that way and they will never go back. Chalk me up with the rest. You lost my business buddy.

Was a little hesitant to shop here with some of the other reviews. But, the gentleman who helped me. don't know his name, was helpful and not rude at all. Not sure if it is the same guy others were complaining about, but this guy was not insulting, answered every question I had. He showed me all the beer recipe kits and gave me some pointers. Things seemed a little pricey, but there is shipping cost and he has to make a profit. I'll go back again

Awful service. My wife purchased a Groupon and I used it. A few days later the owner said there was some confusion and actually asked me for more money! The owner was also rude and brazenly insulted his employee. Flee from this place.
