Long story coming your way 😬 . We went to this place called Fern Thai ( Me being new to Seattle and still exploring food ) nice interiors, totally random dinner plan with a few friends . Somehow my brain whispered Thai food, and we went with my friend’s suggestion. But low-key… I said yes because I saw Kow Soi on the menu. 🫣
We walked in and ordered a couple of appetizers.
And let me tell you the STAR of the night was the CALAMARI 😮💨.
Woahhhh. The texture?? Beautiful. Every calamari I’ve had before was either too oily or straight-up rubbery with that weird stretchy feel. But this one? Perfectly cooked. Soft, light, and honestly food coma inducing. Damn.🤩
Then came the entrées. My boyfriend ordered Pad Thai "I’ll just go with something basic,” he said. We all expected exactly that. Wrong again.
This Pad Thai reminded all of us of home. If you’ve ever had those spicy, wok-style “bandi noodles” back in India (that’s what my friend calls them), you’ll get it. Same comfort, same punch just with a Thai twist. Absolute surprise hit.
Also , the fork they served with it? Looked like Aquaman’s trident 😹 We’re never forgetting that.
And then… Kow Soi. DAMNNNN. The portion alone had my mouth open for a solid few seconds. And the taste? I couldn’t stop talking about the broth it was that good. Rich, comforting, perfectly balanced. The chicken? Fall-off-the-bone level tenderness. Like have you heard of poultry doing that? Probably slow-cooked or pressure-cooked, but honestly, I didn’t care I just enjoyed it in every possible way. Beautiful.😍
We also ordered Fern Thai fried rice and Panang curry. Both were genuinely delicious. The Panang was thick, creamy, and melted in your mouth. If you love coconut-milk-based curries, this one is a must especially paired with that fragrant jasmine rice. Just wow. Be prepped to take a togo , the portions are 🤌
Lastly , We had Thai tea , wished it came in a bucket , No shame 😭🧋
That night was purely about appreciating food. No side conversations, no distractions just us, sitting there, impressed bite after bite.
I’ve already decided I’m giving this place a life.
Which is just my way of saying I’m coming back. Again and again. And I’m bringing everyone with me. ❣️
