When to Eat Pizza with a Knife and Fork | Eater

"Opened in Rio de Janeiro in 2014 by chef Sei Shiroma, who relocated from New York, this pizzeria emphasizes naturally fermented dough baked in a wood-fired oven to yield a light, crispy crust more akin to Neapolitan-style pies than the heavier, topping-laden Brazilian norm; Shiroma originally discouraged cutlery and recommended eating his pizzas with your hands, using customers’ requests for forks as moments to teach the hand-eating technique, but he has since equipped tables with forks and knives and expanded the business to multiple locations (on the way to a fourth), prioritizing simply serving excellent pizza without dictating how patrons must eat it." - Carla Vianna

Food: Pizzeria is 4th place of TOP50 in Latin America, so we had high expectations. The pizzas were very delicious and innovative, however, as a pizza enthusiast myself I expected more from the dough and crust. Tastes like a dough made the same day. Service: Service is terrible! Clients were queuing at 6pm despite reservation because staff was still cleaning up. They didn’t inform anybody that they needed a few more minutes (which we would have understood). Instead we were completely ignored for the full 10min. Not very attentive staff. All on their phone rather than taking orders. Doesnt seem like restaurant is dependent on clients…

Very cool place in a very busy and hip area in Rio. The restaurant is located at “SoHo” area of Botafogo. The pizzas are very inventive! We had ricotta with honey and pepper❤️. It was fantastic. The drinks are delicious too. The appetizer buffalo muzarela in the oven was very criativo. Another thing I loved is that you can choose a sauce to dip your crust to accompany your pizza.

Place is small but very cozy. We waited for around 10 minutes to get in, with the surprise that they also had a second floor. Pizza was great, very crunchy and delicious. The service was a little bit slow.

The pizza was good, but the best -the best I’ve tried so far- we had was the burrata (as an appetizer). Service was amazing, every single one from there is very attentive and caring. The only thing that was not of my taste is that it can be noisy due to the traffic on the street(take into account that some tables are in the sidewalk), and the tables were too close from each other.

Came here recommended by our Rio tour guide, and did not regret it. It’s a cute, cozy place located in the neighborhood of Botafogo. According to them, they treat pizza like a normal recipe, and place what they come up with on top of cheesy dough. I believe them. There are a lot of unique topping combinations to choose from, as well as a pretty good cocktail menu. The pizza was thin, crunchy, and indeed unique. You could feel the individual flavors, and the cheese complemented it without being overwhelming. The chocolate ganache with strawberry pizza for dessert was also nice, albeit a bit too much after eating the main pizzas 😂 Prices are quite ok for the quality. Better than I expected!

Amazing place! Best pizza in Rio! Specially the gentle manager Tom and his team.

Food tasted good but service was not equivalent. The wine was setved after we we finished our appetizers. I had to beg the manager for our pizzas whilst the other guests in our party were already finishing their dishes. Highly unacceptable.

We went here to celebrate a friends birthday and to be fair we had a lot of people but it was super crammed. The food was kind of expensive for Brazilian standards and it did not live up to my expectations as there wasn’t a lot of flavor in at least the pasta. The pizza was a bit better!
