As a shop, Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant is fantastic. They have a great selection of wines from many countries and I see a lot of great producers on the shelves. They also have a really nice reserve selection in two wine fridges located near the wine bar with some exceptional wines if you feel like splurging. Overall, as mentioned in a prior review, the prices are good but usually not the best for any given wine. I generally find them 10-15% more expensive on average than the cheapest price on Wine Searcher.
We also like the wine bar. They have a fairly extensive list of BTG options that are constantly rotating. There are easily 25-30+ wines offered in 2oz, 5oz, and a "carafe" option (guessing it's 500ml, but not stated anywhere on the menu), including some Coravin options which tend to be higher end wines. I've never seen Dagueneau offered BTG anywhere before. What's nice about the BTG options is that they have some fairly "safe" options, but mixed in with those were a lot of cool, off the beaten path stuff. If you love trying new things (or heck, even if you don't), there's absolutely something on the BTG list for you.
You can of course also shop around the store, including the reserve wines, and have the bottles at the wine bar for a $15 corkage fee. We typically opt to do this rather than drink BTG and a $15 corkage is pretty reasonable. If you're looking to have white or rosé at the wine bar, be sure to check their fridge on the back wall to see if they have the wine chilled, otherwise they're happy to give the bottle some time in an ice bath to cool down to your desired temperature.
Service at the wine bar can be quite erratic though. Sometimes it's great, but since all of the servers are prepping food as well, when it gets slammed, you may not be checked up on as frequently. For us, this is fine since we can manage pouring our own glasses, but if you're trying to get your check before your ferry leaves, it can be a bit stressful, as the couple seated next to me found out!
Overall, they have a great selection of wines but the service in the bar could use some tweaking to improve consistency even when it gets busier.
