We went to Fico for lunch on Sunday. I’d easily describe the food and service as the best I’ve ever experienced. The flavour combinations, textures and fragrances were expertly considered and the explanations of wine pairings were excellent. I was rendered speechless with the quality and taste of every dish in disbelief that food can be this incredible!! I 100% would recommend! You are missing out if you haven’t dined at Fico

Excellent contemporary food, great interior with quirky and entertaining artwork. Staff were super friendly and accommodating to allergies. Favourite was the pappardella ragu. Desserts were also delicious! Highly recommend for a nice night out or celebration!

The whole experience was so forced and not relaxed at all. The waiter was nice but in the end just pressured us to tip. The food- some dishes were delicious, some like the pasta (egg tagliolini with scallop roe sauce) was so salty. The chickpea octopus tart was average. And please tell me why on earth would you give the whole big ass loaf of bread 🤣. The quail Caesar and the venison was the highlight. The pappardella ripiena was also delicious but the sauce was salty but I guess they did reduce it for a long time. The add on cheese was so average, but the dessert was well saved by the mandarin yoghurt amaretto, was very refreshing and delicious. Then it went downhill with the neapolitan afogliatella. For its price and status in fine dining, we wouldn't go back for the food and the service unfortunately.

Wow wow wow. This place is it. If you’re looking for an incredible dining experience in Hobart, with the best European style food and the most beautiful service, Fico is the place to book. We dined here for the first time recently, and were in awe of the care & love shown to us as guests, but also the food and drink being served. Every single thing is thought of and the servings are very generous in size & flavour. We especially loved the entree of cracker & fish soup (trust us), the oysters, the pasta, the sourdough and of-course the dessert! Ok ok ok, everything was excellent!! We cannot thank Fico enough for sharing their gifts with us. We recommend everyone experience this in their lifetime (or many times as we will be planning too!).

Words & photos do not & will not do this dining experience justice! A must eat, a must experience at least once in your lifetime, even more if you are lucky enough. An absolute pleasure sampling the culinary exquisiteness of Fico. Every meal was considered, knew how to accentuate the depth of flavour all while having fun & not being pretentious. Highlights for us were the Boomer Bay oysters. Piping hot sourdough with gorgeous honey dipping magic, the limit does not exist when it comes to fresh sourdough. Hand cut tagliolini al limone. Cheese & honey smashed between two crackers always say yes! Dessert star 1, the crunchy sweet & sour mandarin sorbet with blood orange, yoghurt mousse & amaretto & lastly the final boss… I’d unbuttoned my pants a few courses earlier & said oh I’ll just have one bite of this piped, crispy la sfogliatella… NO NOTES, this is hands down my favorite dessert to ever exist & deserves an award all on its own. I’ve dreamt about it ever since & will never forget its glory. Thankyou Federica for your passion & dedication. We cannot wait to enjoy the fruits of your labour again & again & again 😍🤤

What a great experience! Managed to snag a last minute booking on a Friday night. And what a great place! The tasting menu was full of local ingredients, tastefully done with an Italian spin on it. We literally licked our plates clean! There were at least 10 courses, each better than the last. Favourite was the gazpacho and the venison. The service was attentive but not too attentive, wine list was extensive and had something for everyone. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and definitely recommend!

First of all, a big shoutout to Mohit who we found entertaining and downright lovely and genuine - we had a great experience partly because of his hospitality and Fico has got themselves amazing staff who are passionate about the food served there and genuinely listened to how we feel about each dish we had. Thanks Mohit for your service and humor, you made our night. Now the food - is it worth the hype, the price, the two hats reputation? YAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!! What’s even better is the friendliness of the staff not just the servers but also the legendary kitchen staff who also came out to help serve the food with a genuine smile and warmth to their service. If I could have the authority to give all the hats in the world to Fico, heck I would and I mean it. I’m not going to go all pretentious and say ‘food is on point’ or ‘technique is flawless’ (no offense to my foodies who know what they are saying when it comes to that, all respect) but what I’m going to do is HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone (foodies, travelers, anyone looking for a great date night, celebrating anniversary or birthdays or even to just spoil yourself) to book a place at Fico because it will be a dining experience to remember for a long time. Everything that is served throughout dinner - flawless. It really is. Great portions served for the money you pay for degustation at Fico. It’s absolutely worth it. In fact, make Fico the first degustation restaurant for you to try in Hobart because they set the bar truly in Tassie. After that, you can compare other eatery places (there is one particular one who hosts a tour of their own community garden in the oldest historic prison/hospital - honestly overrated and overpriced so don’t do it) and know Fico genuinely delivers. They are way way better value. So come to Fico and not the other eatery place with the insane price tag to abysmal food portions. Fico will not disappoint. I highly urge you to experience Fico and make sure you make a booking. Even if it’s waitlisted, do it. We were contacted from the waitlist and we feel so grateful for having one of the best dining experience at Hobart with Fico. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Fico was a great eating experience. The food was good, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect where your conversations weren't over shadowed by the noise coming from the other tables. Each of the nine courses was delicious, some were much better than others and I don't think you should classify the sourdough bread as a course. The wines are equally good, a little pricier side and it would have been nice to have a better selection of Tasmanian wines, gins and whiskeys on offer. Overall it was a good experience, I was still hungry at the end and I did add on additional courses too. For the price and number of courses I should go home full. Fico is an Italian restaurant, where is the chilli oil?

Yelp
Much to our disappointment, service was subpar as was the food. Our group ordered the tasting menu even though, oddly, our waitress couldn't tell us what was on it. Food presentation was nice but every dish was over seasoned and too salty... except for dessert. The worst was the risotto which was severely undercooked. I told the waitress and she explained its supposed to be "al dente" and "chewy". I told her that it was undercooked and crunchy and she said "yes, that's how it's supposed to be". Um... ok, so she gave 2 opposing definitions of al dente. Both she and the cooks either have a delusional sense of what al dente really is or they've redefined it. Most dishes I didn't bother finishing because they just weren't good. I would not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in Australia, and one of the best anywhere in years. It's an interesting deconstruction of dishes from Italy and beyond, focused on local ingredients, without a hint of pretentiousness. The food is both highly creative and deeply satisfying -- a rare mix. Extensive and delicious wine menu. Save room for the strawberry aero dessert, it was sublime!

Yelp
Amazing food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Did I mention the food? Stunning.
