20 Spots Around New York for Delicious Summer Cocktails | Eater

"This lively Irish pub in the West Village has been around since 1997 and has plenty of sidewalk seating. Coming this summer, they’ll bring the beach to the city when they unveil the Grey Goose Beach at Fiddlesticks Pub — think sand, sunshine, summer jams, frozen drinks, beach chairs, and special edition exclusive cocktails like a classic Moscow Mule made with Grey Goose vodka, fresh squeezed lime juice, ginger syrup, and ginger beer or the Lady in Red, a riff on a margarita made with Grey Goose Essences Watermelon & Basil." - Vox Creative

Popped in for a cocktail prior to a dinner reservation. Was initially seated at the bar where we met Timothy who is an extremely talented bartender. Super friendly and very accommodating. We had to move to a table as the rest of the crew had arrived. Christina took care of us and she was super friendly, knowledgeable and took great care of us. The drinks were incredible and we wanted to try some more. As a bar owner it’s awesome to see such talent. I wish we could hire them. We highly recommended this place and we will visit again.

Great vibe on a Tuesday with a very good happy hour (see photos summer 2025). My friend and I got the espresso martinis and they were very good, especially for $11!

Tables on bustling street, youth energy, nice crowd, wide drinks menu. Nice Non alcohol beer options

I had the food here. We went prior to covid different owner but the food is still great. When I went the first time I was extremely dieting so I wasn't able to enjoy my food. I just had the regular oatmeal and stuff but this time around you see what I had and the food was really good. That's actually chicken waffles. It's the purple pain. Purple pain and the other one is the hashdash and that was really good. Went for brunch. Great and definitely will go again

Google
Good place, with great service - thank you for finding a spot for us! Food was as you would expect with the bar + OK, chicken tenders were really good though! What I didn't like was mandatory inclusion of 20% into the bill - leaving it mandatory defeats the purpose of providing feedback for good or bad service.

If you are black or don't pass the paper bag test, I would strongly recommend staying as far away from this place as possible. I recently visited due to a far better restaurant across the street having a long wait time. We asked to be seated outside and we seated on top of a sewer grate. The man who originally placed us there gave us two tables amongst the three of us. We originally were okay with that set up because at least we had an extra chair and some space to put our stuff so we didn’t have to put our belongings on top of the sewer grates. Very quickly after this original man left, before we had even opened a menu, we were rudely spoken to by another man who worked there about how we didn’t need the two tables. He took the table away from us without even so much as looking us in the eyes or acknowledging us. One of my friends let him know that one of his colleagues had set the tables up for us and that we didn’t just move the tables ourselves. He again didn’t acknowledge the comment and just took the table and left us without so much as an introduction, a quick hello, or a welcoming to the pub. Following this event, my friends and I left due to the level of disrespect we faced within MINUTES of being at the pub. No amount of possibly good food or drinks can make up for how disrespectful the service is!

Google
Great food and decent happy hour prices for the west village. Only food i’ve had here is the shepard’s pie, which was only 10 dollars and was absolutely delicious - definitely would recommend for happy hour

Google
Went to this bar, a waiter broke a wine bottle on my table, and some glass and wine got on me, and I had a small scratch in my crotch area as I was wearing shorts. I wasn't upset because mistakes happen and I used to work in the industry, but I had to leave a review because of the lack of response from staff and management after the incident. I talked to multiple people, but even after asking to speak to management, I never got word from them. I asked them to comp something from my tab but they informed me they were not able to do that and were very dismissive of me even though I was speaking in a polite manner. I dont have anything to say about the quality of the food or beverages, but it has left the worst taste in my mouth.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stumbled on Fiddlesticks while looking for a spot to catch a soccer game--and it hit the mark! The dim, cozy vibe makes you feel like you've stepped out of NYC for a bit. Big surprise: the food was legit good. Mozzarella sticks were perfectly crisp, the buffalo chicken wrap delivered, and the fries were crispy with plenty of dipping sauces (always a win). We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Fiddlesticks Pub feels like a millennial time capsule which I'm not mad at lol! Came here on a whim for a round of drinks. Ordered an espresso martini which was too strong for my liking. When asked to change for something else the server was very understanding and brought us something different. Also, the fries here are absolute perfection!

Talika B.

Yelp
Went in here after having a bad experience with a waitress at another bar who was angry at us because we were a larger party. The server at fiddlesticks was so amazing though, as soon as we walked in, he started pulling chairs and tables to make a bigger table for us, he was always checking on us, etc. Drinks were good. The spicy marg smells really weird. Sweet potato fries were great. Nice place, would go again!

Yelp
Ate there on Monday, May 26, 2025. Enjoyed a delicious Burger with fries. Honestly, this was one of the best burgers I have eaten at a pub/ restaurant. Meat was fresh and tasty. Fries weren't greasy.

Yelp
Fun spot, great happy hour drinks! We got to sit at a really cute cozy table in the window! The cocktails were delicious and our server was incredibly nice and the drinks have out fast!

Yelp
I think I was a little overenthusiastic about Fiddlesticks last time - 4 stars is more accurate. We visited later in the night this time around and the ambiance had completely transformed. Another reviewer said the patrons get younger and the music gets worse with every passing hour, which could not be more true! There was no wait to get in but the pub was pretty packed. No one was dancing, just standing around mingling. The drinks were still very good though and my sister loved her Cucumber Mule. They also still have a Yelp check-in offer for a free house shot. Overall, not terrible but I would probably stick to coming here earlier in the day.

Yelp
Great service and delicious drinks. We went on a slower weekday. Really cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Fiddlesticks has two personalities, much like Two-Face. Before 10pm, it is a quiet, casual, sparsely populated pub with affordable drinks that sometimes skew hot, perfect for freezing NYC nights when snow inexplicably falls. Get the Hot Buttered Rum, Hot Toddy and Hot Apple Cider to warm your nips. I like this side of Fiddlesticks. It pleases my inner 89yo. Sometime around 10pm, Fiddlesticks turns into the grandpa trying too hard to reclaim his lost youth. The music gets 10x louder, the quality of said music gets much worse, and the clientele get progressively younger by a decade with each passing half hour. By the time 11pm rolls around, those attractive 40-somethings you were making sexy eye contact with for the past two hours have been replaced by 23yo Jayden clones who never knew a world without iPhones. Everyone's packed in like a NYC rush hour E train, and no one knows what the heck is going on. It's not a club, but it's not NOT obnoxious like a club either. You know? My advice? Just come and leave before 10pm.

Yelp
I'm not one to review pubs because they're all pretty much the same when it comes to their cocktails/beer/ambience. However, Fiddlesticks truly stood out. We popped in yesterday to watch the game & the host was super friendly & seated us right away. Obviously their beer selection is big, but what really stood out to me were the cocktails. I had an espresso martini & both their mezcal drinks, they truly tasted like a craft cocktail. I also noticed there were a lot of women there! If I'm ever looking to watch the game I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
It's a good, standard pub. I've been here for both food and drinks but think it's better left as a go-to for drinking. I have never gone super late to be fair, but each time I've popped in it has been plenty of space and not a ton of patrons. In the winter I have enjoyed this space more, it feels cozier. Service has always been great. 3/5

Yelp
I love Fiddlesticks, great service, great atmosphere, great cocktails. You need to change your online hour of service though: I was there last evening with friends and you closed down at 10:00 PM. I hope post-Covid that more regular, later hours will begin to come back again as 10:00 PM is too early to close.

Yelp
I will never come here again. I reserved a private space here a couple months back. I emailed back and forth about it with one of the managers before booking. I specifically confirmed with her that we would have access to a bar in this reserved space and that people would be able to order their own individual drinks from the bar, without having to order through a waiter. She confirmed and explicitly wrote that the area has no wait staff. When we arrived, we were told that was incorrect. There was no bar even in the reserved space and the bar closest to it didn't even open until an hour into our reservation. We were only able to order through the waitstaff, which was the opposite of what I agreed to. Additionally, we were shoved into a tiny corner that definitely does not comfortably fit the amount of people it's intended to. This corner was at the front of the bar and the doors were open so we also had random people walking in and out of the bar through our party. One woman even sat down at our table and we had to get a waiter to ask her to leave! To add insult to injury, I reached out to the manager afterwards letting her know how terrible our experience was. She of course was apologetic and said the best she could do was give us $100 gift card. I responded that I would accept it and she literally ghosted me completely. Never responded and never gave me my gift card. They clearly don't care about their customers and have no idea what they're even offering when booking reservations. I would give zero stars if I could!

Yelp
While conversing with colleagues over vodka Red Bulls, we lamented that there were not grates on the dance floor through which we could "relieve" ourselves. As I mentioned in another review, dance floor piss grates would allow men to cover their "piece" with a robe (perhaps a blanket in the winter?) and relieve themselves without having to use the establishment's crowded bathrooms. Implementing these theoretical floor whizz grates would do wonders for creating a more cordial environment.

Yelp
Neighborhood bar with great vibes, good music and easy drinks. This is def a bar to mingle and you will meet interesting people here. Ricky always serves us fast and quick and keeps me and my friends coming back! Would def recommend for a fun weekend night
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Hands down the rudest Irish pub I've been to in NYC in 19 years in this city. Like borderline hostile.
google avatar

Donna U.

Yelp
I understand I went ON Halloween but the server outside has absolutely no personality, said he would come back and fix out wobbly table and didn't and never even asked if we wanted another round of drinks or to order any food. We would d up leaving and getting dinner elsewhere.

Siobhan K.

Yelp
We booked the Perry Street Lounge for a pre-wedding event and could not recommend the venue enough. Kat was communicative, easy to work with and open to questions. Our wedding guests loved the feel of the venue - a chilled environment, offering classy cocktails and casual pub grub. Perfectly set the tone for our wedding weekend! The bar selection was bottles (pub were happy to order in our preference) however only draft beer in the main bar, so keep this in mind if you have a minimum spend tied specifically to the lounge.

Yelp
What a fun spot! I came here for the first time last night for St Patrick's Day! My friend and I go out on St Patty's Day every year and so we decided to do dinner here since bar hopping isn't an option yet. I'm so happy we did! The live music was really fun and brought a great atmosphere to the place. I had the moscow mule to drink. The ginger beer tasted freshly made to me! It had a really strong ginger flavor, which I loved, and wasn't too sweet. We split the nachos with chicken to start. They were great and piled high with lots of toppings! To eat, I had to go with the fish and chips! It was St Patty's Day after all! The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. The coating was super crispy and the tartar went great with it. The fries were fresh cut and awesome! Definitely would recommend this dish! Overall, the experience was fun and it definitely had the pub vibe we were looking for. The service was slow in the beginning, but it was busy so we understood! Hope to be back for those fish and chips again soon!

Yelp
Fun bar and follows NYC Covid-19 rules in place. My husband and I had always wanted to try out Fiddlesticks Pub and decided to take a walk over from Hell's Kitchen a few weekends back. It was very cold outside so my husband and I decided to do indoor dining. Upon entering the restaurant our temperatures were taken and we were promptly sat. At the table we did have to fill out the contact tracing form which was digital and quick. One thing I really loved about Fiddlesticks is that that they offer a number of 'hot' cocktails; my husband and I started with an alcoholic beverage, I had the hot toddy, while my husband had the hot apple cider both drinks were delicious. We also had the creamy spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer/snack, the dip was super cheesy and oh so good! The only thing I noticed that was a negative was that there was only one server and he was having to handle the whole restaurant including outside by himself (he was a great server, however, you could tell he was stretched thin). Would definitely stop by again for a drink and food. Thanks for a great dining experience.

Yelp
Great place lively Atmosphere fun crowd great wings and great bar food. The drinks were strong and good. But what I love most was the DJ play the best music I've heard in years and kept the crowd moving all night. Dj S Mac

Yelp
Really cool bar! I was told it was a bit of a dive but I thought it was cozy. They have some really cool outdoor seating. They're set up to resemble log cabins that can seat 2-4 people at picnic style tables. They all have decor inside like pictures on the walls and animal sculptures to make it extra welcoming plus lighting and heaters. The inside of the bar itself has some mixed level seating with a combination of picnic tables, high tops, and regular tables. There are two bars - once closer to the open space that doubles as a dance floor and a smaller one that services the tables near there. They had a few drinks that were advertised on a small sign board above the bar and they were pretty tasty sounding including a blackberry whisky sour. I will say that the drink I had wasn't super strong but that was perfectly tasty for me and not super expensive either.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Nice Irish themed pub. Only had some cheesesticks so can't really evaluate the food fairly. Service was OK. Bartender seemed more interested in something else rather than customers sitting at the bar. Wasn't within sight much and didn't make conversation. Nice selection of beers.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Cool place. Young crowd at night. The bar gets packed and stays packed. Drinks could have been a little bit stronger but the female bartender on the back/side bar had no clue what she was doing so took the good with the bad.
google avatar

Matteo G.

Yelp
Always a great time at fiddlesticks. Drinks are great, atmosphere is fun and the staff is amazing!

Yelp
Great drinks Great music Good food Amazing atmosphere Cool bartenders and staff Pool tables and TVs everywhere. Really good place to grab a drink and hangout.
google avatar

Yelp
Strong/Good drinks, but a little pricey. Was bar hopping yesterday and stopped in for a bite and a few drinks. got the mezcal mule which was really good. But it was $15 and we just came from lower Manhattan and the same drink was less. Finding the bathroom is a definitely a maze . It's like on the second floor. This place has plenty of outdoor seating, which is why stopped in.

Yelp
Where to even begin! The bouncers outside were simply great. I expected a typical, somewhat aloof rude man at the door to glance at my ID and move on with his life, but instead I was entertained and heckled in the best way. I wish I stayed outside and hung out with him. If you're the bouncer and you're seeing this, I miss you. Walking inside truly felt like I was entering the gates of hell. The music was good, but hard to enjoy because it was at least 110 degrees and because of the insane ratio of girls to pretentious young men who if given the chance to answer the question "what is your favorite movie?" wouldn't hesitate to say "Wolf of Wallstreet." I hate to admit that I did enjoy the attention, so 3 stars it is. I would return due to the Spanish music and the similar vibe to every college bar in Florida, but would skip if you don't know why we (as in the United States) can't just print more money.

Ryan G.

Yelp
I usually don't write reviews but wanted to post this as a heads-up: the beer prices are INSANE. Every beer (for the most part) is $12 - $13, just check out their menu. I'm used to NYC prices but this is beyond ridiculous.

Peter M.

Yelp
Food and service is incredible. Eduardo was very attentive and the bar has a great atmosphere.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are visiting New York for a few days and had to try this place. We stumbled across it online and I absolutely loved the logo of the dog, so of course me being a dog fanatic we had to go. We loved it! The owner and his sister are so sweet! The logo is actually based off the owners real dog named Walter. The atmosphere there was very rustic and tavern like which was awesome! My boyfriend got a few of their whiskeys and Guinness and loved it. I got their espresso martini and cosmo and they were sooo good! They also had a live performer and he sounded incredible. I highly recommend this place! Im hoping we can come back to try their food next!

Emma D.

Yelp
This review is solely about the service. Don't go here!!!! bouncers were so rude and make up rules for whoever they want. But the worst is the skinny white male bartender that cursed us out for adding a drink to a card and asking about Apple Pay. Why would you work in the service industry if you're going to act like a complete asshole and have such a short temper? Absurd. Didn't tip. (If you see this sir I never felt more rage. It was my first night living in nyc and I wish you all the worst in life but it seems like you already have it)
google avatar

Kelli F.

Yelp
Having worked there, I think it's a good place to go. Mostly catered to NYC students, however, the bartenders are knowledgeable, and the brunch is killer.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
We had a great time. Stopped in for a couple drinks in the way home. Nice whiskey selection, which if you have a couple Irish guys running a bar you expect nothing less. Glenfiddich and a Guinness were just what the doctor ordered. Came in a really whiskey glass as well. It was appreciated but also that's a bold move. I'd be surprised if they don't lose 10 glasses a week to people walking off with them. 5 out of 5 would recommend to a friend!
google avatar

Tyler H.

Yelp
Found this bar on our weekly brunch outing! The staff is super sweet and the atmosphere is super fun! It's a great place to bring a group of friends after a long week of work! Make sure you check in for a free house shot!! Wonderful beers on draft and the cocktails are amazing as well!! If you're looking to branch out into a new spot, make sure you make Fiddlesticks Pub a top choice!
google avatar

Marc R.

Yelp
I'm 69 years old and I've lived in NYC my whole live. I've never been treated as rudely as I was at this pub. There are about 10 other restaurants within one block of this place. If you pick the worst one, it will be better than this place.
google avatar

Ryan V.

Yelp
Great food and amazing tatter tots!!! I had a work event here in the back private party room and it was good for just about 30 people comfortlyyyy
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Criminal to charge 30 dollars for two light beers with a 20% gratuity added on when the service is dogshit. Packed liked sardines in here. Take your hard earned money to somewhere better.
google avatar

Rohin S.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour on Friday after work and didn't really end up ordering or looking at the happy hour menu ... oh well. Vibe of this Irish pub is pretty standard, nothing abnormally special. Got some cocktails about $15 a piece which was normal but nothing too crazy. Got a couple diff drinks and we all had a good time but no one expected anything special or got a nothing special. Pita and cheese dip was good. Best part is that they allowed dogs both indoor and outdoors. I'll prob come by again if in the city for happy hour, very pup friendly.

Danny G.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and it never disappoints ! Best steak sandwich you'll find out there Talk to the boys at the bar they'll recommend the best beers in NY Donald and his crew run a great bar , I recommend anyone who goes to NY to stop at Fiddlesticks Great place !!!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Fiddlesticks has not only elevated its cocktail menu, but their kind and helpful staff as well...as a seasoned New Yorker, I've been to fiddlesticks a few times before the pandemic but the past couple of months I've noticed a clear improvement. Specifically Monica and the other blonde Irish girl have always made me feel so welcomed and accounted for. I always appreciate outgoing and attractive staff and fiddlesticks delivers every time. I feel like I'm sitting at New York fashion week every time I walk in. I actually really respect their business model because there's no better way to sell your merch than to have hot staff wearing them. Every time I walk in, I crave a branded item even more. Special shout out to their espresso martinis--Dante is so beat now compared to theirs. Not sure who the DJ is after 9 pm but he is also doing a phenomenal job. Will be returning with a crew.
google avatar

Alice R.

Yelp
My friend insisted we come here even though I was pretty buzzed and really tired. I am so glad I did. I wish they had coat check. Maybe they did and I didn't pay attention, but it was not fun holding my big parka while trying to dance and drink. First world problems huh? I always tell my friends from Rutgers that I wish I can go back to school for a week with everyone around. What I miss most is the college bar scene. This place took me back to my college bar days. The drinking, the dancing, and just meeting people. The demographic is a bit on the younger side. Or maybe I was unlucky. If you are in your early 21s (drink legally all) and miss college, doubt it..., go here. I know I will be visiting here again. My friend is a fan. I think I'll eventually convert into one as well.
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
Fiddlesticks has been a staple for me during covid. They are following all of the protocols and I feel very safe when I'm there. The drinks here are all amazing and so creative! You can have an interesting drink no matter what type of alcohol you like. The espresso martini is one of my favorites but also love the heart beet (if I want to feel "healthy" while drinking). The holiday drinks were soooooo good! Loved the Santa's coffee and their Irish coffee is also amazing.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Hopping pub in the West Village. Incredibly active and happening little pub. Plenty of draft, wine & mixed drink options to be had here. Bar is shaped kind of like a peninsula, and service was pretty good. A Guinness draft was $8 - little pricey, even for New York. This place has a full menu including appetizers like wings and nachos. They had what appeared to be a back room which you could have private parties in. They had door staff checking IDs, even ours. Heavy college presence so not your place if you don't want to deal with that kind of raucous party and shenanigans.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
An old place that has stood the test of time. They make excellent drinks and the food was delicious, especially the Sheppard's pie. Very cool atmosphere. Demar was an excellent server, very friendly and great all around guy!!
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Be prepared to wait... & wait... & wait. After much anticipation & long wait time I ordered a Cesar salad. It was okay. Nothing amazing. Nothing outstanding. I really wanted to order drinks but honestly the lack of costumer service killed it for me. I had more fun sitting by the sideline critiquing people's outfit.
google avatar

Lucia O.

Yelp
Fiddlesticks had a great reputation, BUT this bar rejected our legitimate IDs, not sure if it's because they may have been known for attracting a young crowd or whatever but we were 23. So ridiculous. they confiscated our IDs and everything. Now I have to replace mine. NEVER going back. :(
google avatar

Isa G.

Yelp
Do not go here. They overcharged my group of three people two rounds more than we ordered/received and were extremely rude to us when we tried to sort this out, on top of charging an automatic 20% gratuity on a group of three when they stopped at our table twice over the course of four hours.
