FIEF is a one Michelin-starred restaurant, and it truly delivered an exceptional experience. We opted for the 10-course tasting menu at €165, which felt like great value for the quality. I was there to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and instead of the wine pairing, we chose a bottle of white wine based on the sommelier’s excellent recommendation.
One thing I wish they had offered upon arrival was a sanitized napkin or cloth to freshen up our hands, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The Grand Menu is only available at the counter, where we were seated. It was quite warm at first due to the open kitchen, but it was worth it to watch the chefs in action up close.
My personal favorite dish was the monkfish liver with dashi soup—it was rich, buttery, and absolutely delicious. The combination was perfect. Most of the dishes were impressive, though I didn’t care much for the blue cheese foam/ice cream. The lingering aftertaste just wasn’t for me, but that’s a personal preference—I’m not usually a fan of cheese.
The food overall was innovative and thoughtfully executed, though I found there to be a few too many desserts for my taste.
Chef Victor Mercier was incredibly attentive, especially in accommodating my friend’s preference to avoid raw fish—he personally cooked everything for her. He was humble and hands-on; I didn’t even realize he was the chef-owner until I looked it up afterward.
Service was fantastic throughout. FIEF is definitely worth checking out!
