The Best Vegan Cheeses for Melting, Sprinkling, and Snacking - Eater

"Field Roast is a staple in the world of vegan meat replacements, known for its veggie-based sausages and other proteins. In 2015, the company introduced its Vegan Chao slices, which are perfect for a veggie-based sandwich and boast a nice, light funkiness that comes from fermented soybeans." - Amy McCarthy

Trucks received at 6th Ave. For deliveries turn right beside safelight Auto Glass and go around back. Shipping manager was awesome! He got us loaded a day early.

Zane Burris

Google
Great company! We deliver to them and they always have good service.

Ruth Nodel

Google
Even though I love this product, (Deli Slices), I am very disgusted with the company's inaccurate ingredient quantity. The package used to say there were 15 slices and you needed 5 slices per serving, supposedly giving you 3 servings, right? But after counting how many slices per package for months, I found it only had 10 slices ! My phone call recently to customer service to ask them to accurately list the amount in the package, was met with a lack of belief towards what I told them. I told him I have been buying this product for many months and have been diligently counting ! I felt very disrespected! Now ,I find the package this week has only 7 slices,(down from 10), and the packaging says 9! Still a boldface lie! Plus the price is exactly the same even though we are now getting less! I am not going to buy anymore products from a company like this that refuses to be accurate with its product information!

Google
I noticed PALM OIL in the list of "Ingredients - Field Roast." Thank you for explaining your careful selection of sustainably grown and sourced products. The Field Roast tastes great, and we can now enjoy it even more knowing fragile habitats and endangered animals are not at risk when we purchase/support your products.

Cindy LaBelle

Google
I love Field Roast's products. I'm addicted to their smoked apple sage sausage, which I sauté up with onions, peppers, garlic and top off with Beechers cheese. Their new hand formed field burgers are amazing too.

Susan Hall Beaumont

Google
I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't like eating a lot of meat. I thought the Smoked Apple Sage Sausage was delicious. It will be a staple in my house from now on. Thank you!

Google
Would be nice if there was a public front at this facility, asking my local grocer to make custom orders is not as easy as it once was.

Google
Love the smoked apple sage sausage, be nice if a there was a little more oil inside, somehow. Get quite dry.

Yelp
Dearest Field Roast Creators: I purchased your plant based sausages, from Grocery Outlet, OMG ! Love the texture and the meaty taste it has, eggplant is one of my favorite items to eat , so I'm so glad to see that as an ingredient... The fennel eggplant peppers is the one I tried, even my puppy loves the taste...plant based eating is very good for my new puppy. Thank you , for making my eating choices in market a little bit more enjoyable. I will be trying all your food products in the future, as I have change my eating to more plant based, I have tried the other plant based meats , but yours are my favorite for NOW. Thanks again for helping me , make better choices with great products....Bless you always Hemet, ca..

Yelp
AVOID THIS PRODUCT Field Roast has the worst packaging of any product ever made It take longer to open Apple Sage sausage package than to cook sausages They need perforated opening Their phone number is discontinued They also include a piece metal on the sausage packet which one could easily swallow and kill you Horrible horrible company

Yelp
Hit or Miss... (^_^) Smoked Apple Sage Sausage Sweetish, good. (-_^) Apple Maple Breakfast Sausage Sweet, if you like that. (-_-) Fruffalo Wings Not wing, just sliced sausage. Skippable. (-_-) Italian Sausage Forgettable, semi greasy. (v_v) Mexican Chipotle Sausage Very greasy. Spicy. I'm open to trying more of their foods, but I'm not exactly in a hurry to do so.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I am not a vegan. I am a person who has a finicky stomach and I used to have high triglycerides! I love sausage, hot dogs and large italian sausages, but they just kill my stomach and add to the cholesterol! I buy their products in my local store. I have always found them to be very good and tasty! They don't upset my stomach, or cause me to have an cholesterol issues. They are very good in soups, sandwiches, with chili and (sorry vegans) scrambled eggs. Since switching to these, my cholesterol has gone from 250 to 105. I like these better than the "real" thing.

Yelp
Great tour today with Jennifer and Brian! Seeing the process from design kitchen to production was amazing and puts it all in perspective. Plant based food with great taste is the future for our planet! We are what we eat and food that is plant based will be a part of helping stamp out food borne disease (ie diabetes and coronary artery disease). Love their products!! Please make a chorizo sausage for my vegan Paella's!!!

Yelp
The Kobe beef of grain meats, if there could be such a thing. I tried Field Roast deli slices about 18 months ago and I'll never be the same. Where their competitors are so dry and as chewy as gum sometimes, Field Roast is savory, succulent, scrumptious... My favorites: the spicy chorizo sausage, the Italian sausage, the original deli slices and either of the roasts. I've even turned the meat eaters in my life onto Field Roast. As another yelper mentions, it sure would be nice if they could expand their product line into the stores, but I'm sure as a small company, they have their reasons why they haven't done so.

Curt M.

Yelp
Finding a dry hard twig in my faux sausage is not ok! Frankly it's tantamount to finding a bone in a genuine piece of sausage. There's no excuse. You've lost a Customer.

Josefina H.

Yelp
It is amazing how vegan products can be marketed in a deceitful way too. I bought the Fruffalo wings with a great design in-front the bag. Every one might fall for one for it. The pieces of meat and the buffalo sauce is in the bag are trash. I never taste a salty meat as I experienced with this buffalo wings. None diabetic individual can eat this due to the excess of salt in this product.Field Roast original FRUFFALO WINGS I will never buy any of these product. thank you

Yelp
Okay, I am giving this a three star rating based on the statements of the ingredients: Which after my readings I have found them to be true which is another product selling false labeling foods and this is not settling well with me. I am one that suffers from (WPW) which means that I am limited to the foods that contain (MSG) and with this product I have found that this has -Yeast extracts and fermented foods contain glutamic acid, an amino acid found in meat, cheese, fungi and vegetables, including mushrooms, broccoli, and tomatoes.[1] According to Joe Dickson, a past member of the USDA's National Organic Standards Board,[2] a number of consumer groups have claimed that certain food ingredients, such as autolyzed yeast and hydrolyzed protein, are MSG in disguise. Large food retailers dispute this.[3] Now in small doses this may not cause harm but for someone like myself that isn't supposed to have any (MSG's) (Caffeine, Chocolate etc. This food labeling in deceptive. So based on the fact that I enjoyed the (Hand formed field burger) and I'm sure that I will eat another one please give your customers the accurate ingredients as to what is in the product. You can't be and sell organic and vegan foods if you are not going to give the customer just that. So all in all I will say the burger was good and I enjoyed every bite of it.

Yelp
Field Roast rules. It is so so so so delicious. The sausages are light years ahead of the other faux franks out there. I see that they are entering the scary world of cheese substitutes...my fingers are crossed because most vegan cheese tastes like softened candles.

Yelp
This review is coming from a unique perspective. I actually have been to Field Roast! Pizza Works just started stocking some Field Roast faux meat for our pizza toppings. They are wholesale, only, so don't plan on going there unless you can buy and store case quantities. That being said, they are very friendly and helpful. They are based in a couple of old houses in Georgetown and it is almost like going into their home. I am hoping that we sell enough of their toppings to keep visiting them to get their top of the line products. From what they said, we are their first pizza restaurant! We will be soon making a couple of field roast based menu items, as well as just carrying the toppings. On the personal side, I have tried their product and even as an omnivore, like Alison R. I have found their wares yummy and filling.

Yelp
Last Thursday, I enjoyed my Tofurkey. I really did. But I wish I had also bought a Celebration Roast. Vegan, shmegan. I'm not even vegan, or even a vegetarian. I just love Tofurkey and Field Roast.
google avatar

Yelp
Field Roast makes the BEST meat substitutes. Some faux meats have a bizarre aftertaste, or taste like compost... but Field Roast knows how to use whole grains to make compassionate meat. Their chorizo is deliciously spicy. Their Italian sausages contain eggplant and fennel... definitely redeems the eggplant AND saves pigs. They also taste great on pizza. Their deli meats are delicious, credible substitutes for turkey and ham. Field Roast puts Gardein and Tofurky to shame. Field Roast tastes good and good for you too!

Rita B.

Yelp
We love spicy foods - and eat a lot of it - but the Mexican Chipotle sausage were over the top and we wound up throwing them out. Everything else we LOVE

Yelp
This company almost everywhere now especially a bigger selection in Raley's in Fremont, and New Seasons Market in Sunnyvale. I go for the Sun dried tomato deli slices, and roast. Their burgers is great too. It has great texture and great flavor.

Yelp
Going to Costco as a vegetarian just does NOT cut the mustard. Of course I am refering to missing out on the number one attraction to the big box giant: samples, bitchez! Saving all kinds of time by not standing in line for a dixiecup of meatloaf I decided to venture out, and imagine my surprise finding this product in the refrigerated section. I read the description and literally thought, hmm that sounds good - too bad it is meat. I plucked my husband from some other line because I figured these sausages might sound good to him. It took my carnivorous counterpart to point out that these puppies are vegan. Well..yay! I bought the massive 12 pack and could hardly wait to try the chorizo variety (needless to say I decided on Mexican dinner night that evening). Fieldroast chorizo is super flavorful and dare I say kindof spicy. I did not expect this, it was definitely a happy surprise. I like this for quesadilla filling, taco night and even breakfast. The Italian variety contains an ingredient which I positively despise (eggplant), but happens to be my favorite. It works wonderfully on its own in a classic sausage, onion & pepper combination, integrates great with any (tomato based) pasta sauce and is downright delicious combined with sauteed kale, garlic and caramelized onions over pasta dressed with a good quality olive oil. My least favorite of the bunch is the sage and apple variety.. This is pretty sad considering it was the one that sounded best. It seems slightly *sour* on its own, but its fine incorporated in a breakfast scramble. After doing some research on Field Roast's website I have to say I am both intrigued and depressed. So many things sound amazing but only a fraction of them are available to common folk like you and me. I am extremely critical about food, and I can honestly say that I love Field Roast products. It is not just good 'for vegan food' -it is good food, period! I am not a fan of faux meat, and hardly consume soy based products. I would rather eat natural products and vegetables than some artificial mystery 'meat'. However, Field Roast is the exception to this rule! (Not to say the ingredients are a 'mystery', matter of fact they are natural and wholesome). Now if only Costco would continue to stock their items life would be grand.. I cannot find the sausages anywhere! :(

Yelp
Viva the Great Seitan! Although I'm more a tofu-based-fake-meat-kind-of-a-guy myself, they make a helluva fake meat product. I usually associate their product with the Elysian Brewery b/c they make a great BBQ sandwich using Field Roast, but you can also buy it at Whole Foods, etc. I love that it's a local company too.

Yelp
How awesome are Field Roast's sausages? Awesome enough to lure me out of 2+ years of lurkerdom on Yelp to proclaim their amazingness publicly. And I'm terminally shy, peeps. I'm blushing like your maiden aunt right now just writing this sentence. Which is kind of a creepy thought, but no matter. They really are that good. My kids want me to tell you that the Apple Sage are the way to go. They like them on hot dog buns, with mustard and other hot doggy things on top. I'm partial to the chipotle, which make a fantastic addition to my favorite thing ever, fried potato tacos. They belong together, these two. It's heartwarming. I like the Italian, too-they were perfect on open-faced toasted rolls with marinara sauce and grilled eggplant slices. My family and I don't dig on your typical fake meat-type stuff, and the four of us rarely agree to like the same food products, but Field Roast has managed to earn a hard-won spot in our fridge anyway. Not that they'll stay there long. I'm looking forward to trying the deli slices and the celebration roast too. I suspect more giddy proclaiming of awesomeness and furious blushing to come.

Yelp
These are full-on, taste-buds-engaging-in-'sploding-love-sensations delicious grub, regardless if you're high priest of a carnivore-worship-cult or are the director of propaganda for an ancient, secretive vegan ninja-collective. Came upon FR in a grocery store approx. a year ago - I eat a lot of protein to fuel workouts and had wanted to change my protein source from soy/tofu for some time. It took one chipotle sausage warmed up a bit, sliced and adorned with a bit of cheese on a whole-wheat bagel to make me insta-zealot. The Italian and chipotle have a fantastic texture (I've not had any of the rest of their line-up) - I was able to snag a convert recently who doesn't dig tofu's texture but loves the hearty chewiness of Field Roast. While I haven't eaten meat sausage in many years, I don't remember ever having any tasting this good. They've really nailed the mix - after a run if my stomach has seized command and thrown me into lizard-brain-survival-mode, a sausage right out the wrapper is a delight; if I've got some time, they can be built into a huge range of dishes. Current salad obsession: spring mix, baby spinach, FR chipotle, jalapeno jack cheese, feta, olive oil, balsamic, and some crushed red and black pepper - mmm, scrumtralescent. They cook perfectly, keep for quite awhile in the fridge, and are so ultra-delish and hits-the-spot that it's only a matter of time until I figure out how to marry a package of chipotle FR...don't worry, there's plenty of grain-meat love to go around, you're welcome to join in.

Sue S.

Yelp
I love all their products! Best tasting veggie stuff out there, BUT does anyone know if they use hydrolyzed or textured wheat protein? I know its vital wheat gluten, but its the hydrolysis , or texturizing process I'm wanting to know about. Thanks in advance!:)

Yelp
Tastes good, okay, but why is there almost as much fat and calories as in a Big Mac when I stick it in a bun? This is processed food. It's confusing. The roast has 21 grams of fat per serving!!!! Compare that to other foods...
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
I'm SO happy ! I just made the switch to vegetarianism. I was very skeptical that I would be able to stick with it, but after reading Joi B's review of these products and tasting them for myself I know I can conquer my inner carnivore and stay true to my new conviction. This stuff is so tasty, I'd eat it whether I was a veggie or not. The celebration roast is delightful.
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
I don't even know what to say, except that this company makes the tastiest vegetarian sausage EVER. Breakfast was already my favorite meal, but add this to my eggs and I am one happy camper. I saw this at Wegman's in PA and decided to try something new.. and WOW! I just finished eating a Smoke Apple Sage Sausage- they are my favorite so far. Can't wait to try more. May we never eat Tofurky again.
google avatar

Yelp
So I've never actually bought Field Roast for myself, but have consumed it in mass quantities at Georgetown Liquor Company on sandwiches and love it. I'm a meat eater and enjoy my meat, but this is a great substitute. It's yummy, has a good texture, and is incredibly filling. It's made like 2 blocks from my house which just makes it even cooler. I highly recommend trying it out, at least once, no matter if you're a carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore.
google avatar

Yumiko K.

Yelp
Mexican Chipotle is just super tasty. It is a bit spicy and has tons of flavour. I've also tried their meatloaf, which is equally delicious. Even if you are not a vegan or vegetarian, you should try their products. Unlike other fake meat products out there, Field Roast Grain Meat makes non-meat products tasty without funky aftertaste and/or texture. Apparently, they offer a factory tour. I can't wait to check it out!
google avatar

Jazz S.

Yelp
I'm always get a little apprehensive when I'm going to taste a vegan 'meat' product. I've had too many encounters where it just taste like rubber or something synthetic. However, this absolutely wowed me! The full review is at my website: http://www.theveganverdict.com
google avatar

Kimberley D.

Yelp
Vegan-friendly food that meat eaters also enjoy. Recently I tried the sausages for the first time... I'd hesitated due to the price. They're definitely worth paying for. Mmm, spicy Mexican-inspired sausage.
google avatar

Andre B.

Yelp
Love, love, love field roast! The apple sage and the chipotle sausages are my favorites. Put them in sauces for pasta, in buns for hot dogs, in casseroles, and salads. The best grain 'meat' on the market. I love that they don't pretend to be chicken or beef or pork and that they are their own thing instead of a substitution for people to compare to. What makes them so great is that they are a full fat product. Who would eat a fat free sausage? The fat content is what sets this product apart from other veggie 'meat' products.
google avatar

Yelp
I've finally tried the lauded Field Roast (Italian) and I must say the praise is worthy. Oh my! I honestly like it better than the meat version. Seriously. It was genuinely satisfying and all without that creepy mystery bit that one can never fully masticate when chowing on a beef, pork or chicken produced link. I stopped short of rating it a five based on: 1. Price. Unless one is single and well compensated or, a couple well compensated, this is not working class fair unfortunately. Can't do it. It was purchased as a one time deal and cut hors d'oeuvre style and it was loved but, it is not a must have. 2. Really wasn't sure what was meant by "do not overcook." It's ready to eat out of the on the package and so for a nice crisp there needs a bit high heat but, I there was a bit more dryness than maybe it should have been and since I didn't know what the outcome would be, I wouldn't have minded say "please cook no more than....... 3. A bit of an off taste left but not enough to not still say the experience was "almost great." I'd love to have these as a staple in my home but unless they're on sell or I have coupon's, it ain't happening.

Yelp
Field Roast Frankfurters I like the taste of these better than Smart Dogs and other veggie dogs I've tried. However, I just learned they contain 'yeast extract', which is a sneaky form of MSG. It contains glutamates which are excitotoxins. MSG is the worst, but food makers have taken up yeast extract, hydrolyzed proteins, etc instead to throw off consumer awareness of exactly what is inside. MS glutamate (mono-sodium) is only one form, and it is the glutamate part that does the excitotoxin effect on the brain, causing brain cells to get excited then die in a state of bliss, so you lose brain cells while thinking stuff tastes great. Look at the reviews, raves about veggie sausages, even from meat eaters. Could be excitotoxins, really just the dying brain cells talking? I'm sorry they chose to go this way and spike their dogs with this stuff. They call it 'naturally flavored yeast extract'. "Flavoring" of yeast extract doesn't change its excitotoxic glutamate. They probably flavored it with something natural so they could add the word 'natural' to the yeast extract ingredient, so people might think it isn't a form of MSG, which it is.

Yelp
I have never been to the store location, so I am only reviewing their vegan chipotle sausage which I purchased at Fred Meyer's. I'm really into meat-less chorizo right now. Have had some really great restaurant experiences, so I thought I would try to do some of my own creations at home. I was appalled by the $4.79 price tag on actual Soyrizo, and saw a package of Field Roast Chipotle Sausage on sale from $5.29 down to $2.25. What a deal! So I tried it. No wonder why it is marked down half off, no one wants this stuff - and especially not at $5.29 for a package of only four "sausages." However, would it have been tasty I would have considered restocking. It is bad. It is very, very greasy with what I believe to be sun dried tomato oil and the overall taste is exactly like those little meat-inspired chewy dog treats. Yes, I cooked it correctly. Yes, I mixed it with other ingredients (onion, garlic, mushroom, peppers). It tastes like dog treats! Disgusting. However, since there are so many other positive reviews and I have only tried one product, I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. I would be open to trying their other products, but I definitely would not purchase them myself.

Yelp
I rerely make any comments-unless I'm blown away! The damn vegetarian and vegan sausages OMG in my opinion, they tasted just as good as meat sausages I've had in the past. I never had beef sausages but I have always eaten chicken and turkey all flavors, types and brands. This brand of vegan and vegetarian sausages are the best tasting brand I've ever had. The texture and flavor- I thought I was eating meat. I even gave one to my boyfriend and told him after it was vegan. He didn't believe me. He eats anything (even food truck crap. Not the good ones) so if it fooled him and he loved it-it's damn damn good !! I ate it with pancakes oh and my picky one year old also ate it all. I'm so happy I found these. One issue with being vegan is searching for really good tasting food. I try and cook most of my food so I know what's in it and to season it good-can't stand no bland shit! Anyway, I spend hours reading labels in stores and researching on the computer and social media. This is how I found out about these sausages and this brand. Anyway, I love them. Super excited and happy I found them. I will be also using Year for my vegan lasagna and baked ziti

Arnie P.

Yelp
The veggie burgers taste good, very good, but they use genetic engineered products and disguise themselves as health food. They have terrible customer service and don't seem to care about responding back to customers. Too bad. if it was an organic or at least a GMO free product they would probably do better for themselves and the community. And from what I am reading here they also use msg in some of their products. That is why it probably tastes better but is not good for you unfortunately. I only give it three stars for its taste. I'd give it 4 if it was organic. Too bad they don't care about their customers input. They also do not date their product so you don't have any idea how old it is or if it safe to eat.

Barbara H.

Yelp
Yesterday I found Field Roast Italian Sausage in a vegan supermarket in Hamburg. I used the sausages for a vegan version of Jamie Oliver's 'proper blokes' sausage fusilli' recipe (http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pasta-recipes/proper-blokes-sausage-fusilli ) This sausage is so good, I love it. It's perfect. It tastes like an original salsiccia, at least as I remember it from my omnivore past. I find the sausage very expensive, no wonder, since it's shipped from the U.S. Too bad that there's no branch of Field Roast in Germany. Anyway, I'm glad that I dicovered this fine product.

Jane S.

Yelp
I have been a vegetarian (and try to be vegan) since the age of 4. I have never tasted most meats, so 'meat substitutes' either taste good or taste bad to me. I don't really compare them to 'meat.' I eat meat substitutes for variety, protein, and filler. I was at a Whole Foods recently. I don't shop there often, because it is a good distance from my house and the pretentious vibe in Whole Foods tends to annoy me. but when I am there, I try to take advantage of the items I don't normally see at my local HEB. I picked up the Field Roast Grain Meat Deli Slices (lentil and sage). I made a wrap with the slices that night and was floored. It was the most delicious wrap I have ever had. Hands down. I made another the next night and will probably have another at lunch today. I tried a piece of the deli slice on its own with a bit of hummus and it was so tasty. I intend to go back to Whole Foods this weekend and buy all the packages of deli slices they have. If I overdose on lentils, you will know why. If the other products taste this good, I am going to be one happy eater.

Nina C.

Yelp
I've never been inside this place so I am reviewing their vegetarian sausages they sell at the supermarket and Costco. First off, buy these at Costco if you can. They are SO much cheaper. The pack is huge but I still have tons of them in my freezer. I have had the apple sage and the chipotle flavors. The chipotle is, as the name indicates, spicy. When I am mixing these in with something and I don't want an overpowering, intense flavor (or when I don't want spice in general,) I opt for apple sage. I also have way more of the apple sage since that was the Costco pack! My meat-eating boyfriend is not a fan because he says they are too dry and don't mimic the juiciness of meat. I...haven't eaten meat in 8 years so I couldn't tell you how juicy meat should be! I don't really like the taste of meat though so if something imitates it too much, its a no go for me. These cook pretty well. They are perfect for hot dogs or in pastas or whatever else you normally put sausages in! One final note: I looked at the nutritional information the other day and these things are FAT! This is why I have so many in the freezer! Eat sparingly if you are weight conscious, but every time you do, enjoy!

Sheryl M.

Yelp
Very disappointed. While the texture was fine, the flavor was nothing like any hot dog I ate back in my meat-eating days. The orange color was also very off-putting, and that may have affected the overall taste to me. It wasn't a particularly bad taste, but nothing like meat. I even fixed them out on the grill, as that usually improves the taste of fake-meat products. I do like their sausages so I was prepared to like the franks. While I appreciate the fact they are grain-based products, I will be forced to buy Morningstar Farm's corn dogs when I want a hot dog fix, even if they are soy. Also, Morningstar Farm products are easier to find in stores. I have to drive several miles to buy the Field Roast products, and they are pricier than other brands.

Yelp
Hells yeah. This is seriously the tastiest veggie sausage I've had in my 12 year career in vegetarianism (er-less cause I started eating fish 2 years ago, but whatever...SMOKED APPLE SAGE). If vegetarianism WERE a career, I wouldn't want Trident layers as payment- I'd want FIELD ROAST SAUSAGES.
google avatar

Lynn T.

Yelp
mmm...apple sage sausage makes the best damn breakfasts. mmm...celebration roast for big meals. and man, do I feel dumb not knowing it was a Seattle company!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Are you kidding me? The Italian sausages are amazing. I am a hardcore, tofu-hating carnivore. I consider poultry a vegetable and bacon a spice. I love these sausages, though. I just polished off a huge sausage parmesan sandwich - killer. I am looking forward to trying the other products out - have a pack of the mexican chipotle sausages on deck.
google avatar

Michele C.

Yelp
I purchased the field roast Chipotle sausages. Damm they were good but to hot. Wish they sold them in mild that would be awesome. Would Not Purchase Another Until They lower the spice.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
The best meat alternative products anywhere! Great variety and excellent favors and textures. I bought Field Roasts Apple Maple Breakfast Sausage at Greenlife in Asheville. If you are a vegan, vegetarian or even a flexitarian, you will love the taste.
google avatar

Jillian A.

Yelp
So I moved to Seattle not long ago and before coming here I worked in a deli. We served the hazelnut herb cutlets as part of a sandwich. Oh my goodness! So delicious! I just called them to see if there was a retail store where I could purchase the cutlets. Unfortunately there is not, but after two rings the phone was answered by a kind gentleman. No machine. Yay for you Field Roast for keeping it real!
google avatar

Judy R.

Yelp
Honestly, I usually shy away from meat substitutions because they either get the taste or the texture (or in some cases BOTH) wrong. Fields roast gets everything right. My omnivore husband even loves them, and since he doesn't eat pork anymore (I'm trying to converted him one animal at a time :)) we are thrilled with the sausages (I especially love the Italian style) and hot dogs. I even bought the celebration roast for Thanksgiving this year. Can't wait to try it out.

Yelp
I've bought all three varieties from my local Safeway; Apple, Italian and Spicy. I like all three, but especially the Spicy. I'm an omnivore and never would have thought I'd like grain sausage but they sure are tasty!

Yelp
I love that Field Roast is not like seitan or other soy-based options. The smoked tomato deli slices are my favorite! I really wish they would sell their food service products to the public (cutlets, meatloaf and gravy!) or at least remove them from their website, because I feel like it's such a tease! The only thing I really have not liked is their celebration roast. It was pretty icky. However, I'll still give them 5 stars because those damn deli slices are so good.

Yelp
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so happy that you exist! For someone that is soy intolerant you have made my quasi vegetarian lifestyle brighter!

Yelp
sooooooo tasty and flavorful. Watch out for some of the spicy stuff, it'll take the hair off your arms and stain all your white shirts orange (ahem, mexican chipotle, ahem). I wish it cooked more like real meat instead of crumbling, but the flavor it adds makes up for what it lacks in ability-to-stay-in-one-piece-in-a-soup-ness.

Yelp
I'm really concerned about the MSG in this product! "Naturally Flavored Yeast Extract" is an excitotoxic glutamate.

Yelp
Best meat substitute that's available unless you make a trip to the Asian markets. The Apple sausage is delicious!
