My Honest Experience After Reading Negative ReviewsI was initially quite hesitant to check into this hotel after reading a number of detailed and lengthy negative reviews, especially those highlighting hidden fees and cleanliness issues. However, upon arrival with my partner, I was pleasantly surprised.The hotel was clean and well-decorated, with a modern and cohesive style. Our check-in process was fast and efficient, and the receptionist was friendly and happy to answer all of our questions—especially about the fees mentioned on the hotel’s website.One of the main issues people seem to bring up is the so-called “hidden” fees. In my experience, these fees are not actually hidden—they’re listed on the hotel’s official website. That said, they could definitely be communicated more clearly. It’s important to read the fine print when booking and during check-in. While the fees may not be obvious at first glance, the hotel is legally allowed to include them since they are technically disclosed.Our room was spacious and comfortable, with enough space to hang clothes. There were multiple hangers, and the locker-style closets matched the hotel’s sporty decor. The floor and bathroom were clean overall, though I did spot a spider in the corner of the shower—but nothing alarming.The downstairs common area includes an open kitchen with a communal fridge and even a crockpot, which was a nice surprise. There were also several games available, like ping pong and air hockey, which makes this place family- and couple-friendly.Guests are allowed to enjoy drinks provided in the kitchen. If you’re sensitive to noise, particularly trains, I recommend requesting a room farther down the hall on the first floor. Our room was in a quiet spot—I barely noticed the train, and when I did, it was more like soft white noise. Still, bringing earplugs might help if you’re a light sleeper.Overall, I recommend this hotel. It’s in a nice area, the decor is visually appealing, and the stay was enjoyable. Just be aware of a $120 refundable deposit (if no damage is done to the room) and an additional $50 guest fee. Knowing that ahead of time helps avoid surprises.I’m very grateful for the pleasant stay and would return again.

This isn't your average hotel, and if you're okay with that, I would recommend booking your stay! Most of the rooms are bunk bed style, but they're still pretty comfortable and spacious. We had two bunk beds in our room for 4 people, but we had plenty of room on the beds. They also have rooms in the typical double bed style, so you can request that if you don't want to sleep in a bunk bed. The first floor has very tall ceilings, so the rooms don't feel stuffy at all. The second floor was definitely a little warmer, but not to the point where it was unbearable. While we didn't have any closet or drawer space in our room, we did have a narrow section where we could store our luggage out of the way. It was nice to be able to walk through the room and not have to worry about tripping over our bags. Our friend had locker/shelf like storage in their room. The differences in the rooms definitely add to the charm of the hotel. When you stay here, you also get free drinks daily if you ask the front desk. They have a variety of soft drinks like juices, sodas, and bottles of water you can choose from. The lobby has a bar as well, but it was closed when we stayed there. There's also a beautiful lounge in the front, too, that's great for reading a book or catching up with friends. In the basement, they have a game room and community kitchen. They have tons of complimentary tea and coffee options, and you can watch TV down there as well. There's also plenty of seating, and it's not too busy or loud. The kitchen was great, spacious, and clean. I left some food in the fridge for a few days, and I didn't have to worry about anyone taking it. The game room has shuffleboard, ping pong, and air hockey. There were also a few exercise machines. I definitely enjoyed my stay and the little unique details this place has to offer!

I loved this boutique hotel! Absolutely recommend. I had a room with a full size bed and the room size was perfect for me. The window was right up against the elevated train track and there was a little noise as trains passed. I sleep with earplugs so it didn’t bother me and I actually enjoyed it. The bathroom was large and well appointed. The hotel decor is great fun. I thought the guest kitchen and dining room was superb and made myself some late night grilled cheese sandwiches :-). Families will really enjoy the communal kitchen and the enormous game rooms! Wow! Great coffee shop with delicious food. The hotel peeps were all super friendly and helpful. I first thought the neighborhood might be dodgy at night (think it’s going through revival) but had no problems at all. I will certainly be coming back to FieldHouse next time I’m in Chicago. A joy!

A beautiful & unique atmosphere with a cool, relaxed vibe. Love the coffee shop. Rooms were huge but nicely decorated and everything was in order. Train wasn’t too loud, I didn’t even bother to use the free earplugs left in the room. Beds are COMFORTABLE. The shower temperature could have been hotter, there is only one “warm” setting and it was too cold for my preference. Toilet flushes loud AF. Guest kitchen was nice and convenient, game room is fun. This hotel is in a great, safe neighborhood location near the L train station for the brown line which will take you anywhere you want to go. My reservation included parking, only $50 for two days and was the CHEAPEST IN THE ENTIRE AREA. There is tons of shopping nearby. Overall, my best hotel experience. Will be returning anytime I come to Chicago and can’t wait for the next stay!

This was my first hostel experience and I was a little apprehensive going into it. The decor is so cool it sets you at ease right away. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and the ease of my stay. The owners have done an fantastic job of creating a hip, comfortable environment. Bed was comfortable. Location was great. If I had to gripe, I would say that all the surfaces in the room are solid so it can be very loud, especially when others staying in the same room aren't being considerate. But I get it's much easier to clean without carpet, and I'm ok with no carpet. The building is only feet from the El Train which runs every few minutes, but it didn't disturb my sleep. I will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, spotlessly clean, cleverly decorated, fun place. We were a little worried that our room might be noisy due to the "L" right outside our window. But we were surprised that the double pane windows really kept the noise out. We had a very quiet, great night's sleep. Comfortable beds. Well-equipped bathrooms. Great menu choices and coffee in cafe. Great public spaces for hanging out. LOVE this place. Will definitely be back!

Visually amazing, clean hotel in a good location. Customer service was friendly at front desk. My only complaint during our stay was the cleaning crew. Very unfriendly + It states in the room, that your bed will be left as you left it, which is fine, but after the cleaning staff "cleaned" the room our floor was filled with the same crumbs my kids made on the floor when we left and our dirty cups were still there from the mornings coffee. Other than that, we had a great stay. The hotel has a great game room, which my kids loved and the breakfast experience was fun. Parking was easy and the rooms were a nice size. We had a issue after leaving the hotel but the excellent management went above and beyond, once the issue was resolved. Because of this we are looking forward to another stay on our next visit to Chicago and would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was wonderful. We enjoyed it very much. We went with two young kids. The place is decorated very well. The space is contemporary and kitchy. The rooms are nice. The location was great. The L was very accessible. We found great dining close by. The staff at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. The amenities included a communal kitchen and that kitchen was impressive! We loved the community feel combined with the privacy of a room of our own. Parking was affordable and close by. Coffee was amazing. Highly recommend

If you are looking for a unique hotel experience this is the place for you. Tucked away just west of the heart of the city, it is easily located for the tourist experience. A bit away from the hustle and bustle, you'll get a true neighborhood experience. The rates are lower but the amenities are simple. There is however a super cool lower level area for a bit of fun. A nod to an old school vibe, it appears you go down into a swimming pool and play area. While there is no pool, it looks like you are in it. I know you have to see it to get it. There are also vintage games galore to kills some time. And...there is also a hidden tiny bar unlike anything you've seen before... The lobby area hosts a super cafe. The food is delicious and the coffees are tasty. Service was pleasant and helpful as I wasn't sure what I wanted. No rush, the young barista allowed me to take my time. The front desk guys was just as kind spirited. The rooms are so unique. Spacious and industrial, there are a ton of styles to choose from.This is the kind of hotel families or groups would enjoy. One thing I noted was the super job housekeeping does. I felt so comfortable because of how clean and tidy everything is.

Ah, the FieldHouse Jones. The perfect place for a taste of comfy city living and sporty fun while visiting Chi Town. For starters, this was my first time visiting Chicago so it was very important for me to find a place in a safe area that was close to nearby landmarks, food and fun. Being that I was traveling alone and also during my birthday, I was looking for someplace affordable while still having character. Not a super swanky hotel in a touristy area. FieldHouse Jones was a great fit. For starters, this is a small hotel. If an AirBnB and hotel could have a lovechild, Fieldhouse Jones would be that. There are two floors of rooms; the first and second floor consists of the actual rooms and the basement has the kitchen, game room and secret speakeasy, the Janitor's Closet. Sports decor is everywhere! On the walls of the hallways, inside your room and even in the lobby. It adds a certain quirkiness you can't really get at other hotels, which makes this place such a gem. I went with "The Trailblazer" room, which consists of one full bed, flat screen TV, desk with chair and a little nightstand. This is the perfect room for the lone traveler but a little tight for two, in my opinion. I enjoyed that the room wasn't huge and being able to see the train pass by was pretty cool. Not sure which rooms other reviewers stayed in who said they could not hear the train, but I most definitely could. It wasn't really annoying, but something you should keep in mind. The bathroom was my favorite part of the room, super cute and I loved the walk-in shower. The large rectangle mirror has great selfie lighting. (There is also a full-body mirror in the actual room) They provide you with a few little bath products daily and also fresh towels. Despite what the reviews said on Yelp, they in fact do make up your bed everyday. (unless you place the card on your doorknob opting out) There is no closet, but there are a few hooks made on the wall which are convenient for holding coats, scarves, etc. Also, there is a huge block near the window for placing shoes or other stuff on top of it. I found it convenient because it keeps your junk out of the area near the bedroom. As for munchies and sips, Fieldhouse Jones has a coffee shop on the first floor with a few bites on the menu. There is a cool seating/work area, which seems to tickle the fancy of many a freelancer and work-from-home employee as it was a busy space for nearly 4 out of 5 of the days I stayed here. Televisions are also in this area and draw in many people as well; a Super Bowl watch party of sorts was going on during my stay. One thing I will say, this area brings in many people who aren't necessarily checked into the hotel. No biggie to me, but you can tell it poses an issue with folks roaming around as signs in the kitchen had to be put up saying "this area is for guests only" by the second day I was there. Oh yeah, the kitchen! Since my room, for example, had no kitchen area or microwave, there is a community kitchen inside the basement with fridges, microwaves, stoves, an ice/water machine and cabinets full of plates, cups and utensils for community usage. Super convenient! One night I bought a bottle of wine and having wine glasses handy inside my hotel felt much better than drinking wine out of a plastic cup at 11PM like a hoodrat inside my bed. Wouldn't you agree? Unless you 'like' to do hoodrat things, this is a no judgement zone... Next to the kitchen are cool games you can play to pass the time, but my favorite part of Fieldhouse Jones is the Janitor's Closet. Yes, the one with mops. But also boozy drinks. The Janitor's Closet is one of the most creative concepts for a bar I have ever seen and the fact that it is a speakeasy is even better! Beware, this spot only has 15 seats, so reserve your spot on Resy before popping on in. Aside from the themed space, the drink menu has sips that are inspired by janitorial work and the city itself. So much thought has been put into this place and I love the vintage feel of it. Lights are dim, drinks are strong and the decor is so chic you'll want to snap a photo of every Pine-Sol box and broom you see. The cocktails are crafted perfectly with quality spirits. I just loved this place all around! I give the Fieldhouse Jones five stars for safety, creativity and a nice and clean stay. If you're looking for a spot to lay your head while visiting Chicago for work or play, you may have just found it here.

FieldHouse Jones is a unique boutique hotel with lots of cool touches. A group of five girls stayed a few nights in the Vanlier room. I thought the room was just big enough for the 5 of us. The only time we ran into problems was when everyone was getting ready at once and there are only 2 mirrors in the room. Another thing to not is the mattress on the bunk beds is definitely firm. On the first floor of the hotel is a neat coffee shop and restaurant. I enjoyed the coffee every morning and the empanadas! In the basement of the hotel there is a HUGE kitchen with a large fridge/freezer, eating area, and an ice machine. There is also a filtered water dispenser where I filled up my water bottles each day. The water from the faucet in the room was awful (strong chlorine taste). The basement also has the race track, ping pong tables, and the laundry area. There are no irons/ironing boards in the room. The entire hotel has to share the single iron in the laundry room....that was a little inconvenient at times. The crowing jewel of the basement is the Janitor's Closet. Have fun finding it!

Sometimes its all about 'price price price' not 'location location location." Sure we had to walk a few extra blocks to the Loop, but for approx. $695 for 3 people, 3 nights. We couldn't beat it. Where else would we have found that in Chicago!? This was just one positives to the hotel/hostel, there's a bunch more. Of course there's bound to be a couple negatives too... + Front desk was totally nice and accommodating. We arrived about 3 hours before check-in and they had no problem holding onto our bags. The next night we needed extra shampoo/conditioner and there was no issue. +/- FJ advertises a 'light cleaning' meaning they'll sweep up and replace shampoo stuffs but they don't make your bed or provide new towels. This of course isn't for everyone.. if you're looking for a full service hotel this isn't for you. FJ is perfect for the business traveler (or tourist) who's busy all day and then just needs to crash at night... this is not a lounge in bed and order room service type of place. +/- I was a little nervous that we'd be able to hear the train outside but I didn't hear it once during our 3 night stay. Howeverrrrrr we could hear a few people talking as they walked down the hallway at 2am. Some folks are just not considerate... + Our first floor room was plenty large for 3 gals and all their stuff. Double (sized) beds made us feel like we were adults still, despite them being bunk beds. They were comfy too! Bonus - there's alight, power outlet and usb plug in each bunk. - There was a nice sized window at the end of the room looked out to an alley way between FJ and the building next door. But b/c we were on the first level - had we left the shade open anybody could have looked in. FJ may want to consider adhering frosted film to the window - let in the light but still provide your guests with privacy. + Clean and well designed bathroom. No complaints! + Easy to work AC controls. + Wifi was easy to sign into and use. - Breakfast wasn't anything special. Cereal, a few apples, bagels, english muffins. There's coffee and tea too and if you add in enough sugar they taste ok. + On the flip side I liked the cold water and cookies in the lobby every afternoon. + Loved the decor throughout! The sports theme was done really well and there were plenty of comfy seating options both upstairs and down. Overall our stay at Fieldhouse Jones was really good and I'd definitely stay there again if/when I'm back in town for work.

At first I thought I got a deal of this place but I'm the descriptions it never said I would be getting taxed 50 dollars extra and on top of that another 50 dollars for a deposit. They should really put that out there for people not be scammed . Haven't even received my 50 back he said I would receive it the next day I checked out been three days and now the place says temporarily closed .

FieldHouse Jones is by no measure an easy establishment to review. I sat for months pondering my experience, waiting until it could fully percolate through my brain. I have felt as though I'm bouncing the rock before a free throw. Isn't it an easy shot? Not so. I stayed here with my friend and cinematographer as we required a comfortable base camp for a week-long commercial shoot in Chicago. I was blown away by the photos and meticulous design choices; for the price there was no question we had to give it a chance. Immediately, I was crossed-over and my ankles snapped when the concierge informed me of their $30-per-day parking fee. It turns out that is one dollar for every year of driving school that is required to successfully navigate the crash-course lot they have along the building. Nevertheless, we forked over for it. The hardwood flooring and deeply themed nature of FieldHouse Jones is at first quite inviting and marvelous. As a 100% sicko sports fan, I'm certainly amongst the target market. Everything from the lockers in the rooms to the cafe titled "Drop Shot" to the menus being lineup cards, I can't speak highly enough about the follow-through on the concept. It's a funny thing, though, the appeal wore off after a couple days. While I slept in what one might consider the "main room," my pal slept in the guest room, which he affectionately called his prison cell. Every time I walked in there, I definitely understood why. Tall ceilings, sure, but very hard lighting and it really had this rectangular, plain shape that looked like the clank. Didn't help that the beds were designed to look like mess-hall sleepers, which could otherwise be confused with prison mats. Psychologically, the room wore on him. While we received the now lifelong pleasure of shouting "FieldHouse Jonesssss" 90% of the time in our room, it certainly isn't a very warm place. But, I say this with the hard stipulation that if you are staying only for a couple nights, you likely wouldn't notice and simply enjoy the curated museum you're sleeping in. From the game room to the slot car track, the speak easy and the sizable cafe dining area, FieldHouse Jones has plenty of amenities for the curious traveler. It is absolutely worth staying there, even if it's just once. While on the next shoot we decided to forgo FieldHouse for more comforting pastures, our time spent there will be with us until our dying breath. I made the free throw by the way. Extremely discouraging & disappointing customer service. My friends and I were due to stay here this weekend, but due to COVID-19, our travel plans changed. The hotel is closed so we wouldn't be able to stay there even if we were able to get flights. We requested a refund and we told we would get 90% of our money back by FieldHouse Jones, but now have been bounced between Expedia (through which we booked) and FieldHouse Jones for TWO MONTHS because FieldHouse Jones refuses to answer any calls and has only replied to one email (in which we were told we would get 90% of what we paid back). Expedia's now telling us we aren't able to get a refund because of the hotel's policies. How is it in any way fair to keep our money when we have no way of even staying at the hotel?

If you understand what this hotel is, it is near-perfect. It's not the place for a romantic getaway, or vacation with the kids. But if you're looking for a well-run, clean, comfortable place to stay while on business or exploring Chicago, this is the place for you. The rooms are tight, clean and ergonomically well-designed. They are small but not cramped. And the price is right. Very modest by Chicago standards, especially for this location. It's close close to Michigan Avenue shopping and other near-North attractions. I know this hotel is targeting millennials, but I'm old as hell (66) my wife and I stay here when we need to be in the city late and don't want to drive home to the suburbs. It's just right. If you need a soft pillow, though, you'll need to bring your own. These are pretty firm.

A quirky but fantastic hotel for a good price. Stayed here with my family for a night and really enjoyed our time here. The place used to be a warehouse so it looks a bit rough on the outside but the inside is amazing. The decorations are very unique and vintage styled. The basement has a game room which include air hockey, foosball, ping pong, a race car track (wasn't set up yet when we stayed but looked cool), and lots of board games. There is also a kitchen downstairs that includes two stove tops and two ovens, multiple microwaves and sinks, and pots and pans for you to cook if you want to. Very cool concept. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Reasons that this place gets four stars instead of five: 1. Parking not included - street parking is $4 an hour, but there is a garage nearby for ~$25 per day. 2. They don't provide extra amenities. Extra shampoos, conditions, etc are not free. 3. Rooms are a little small; desks are small. Overall great stay though! Really fun experience.

This place was so cute - I will definitely be coming back. The Bloody Mary came with shrimp, bacon, cheese cubes, and Bleu cheese stuffed olives on top. It is listed as spicy on the menu but I did not taste anything spicier than pepper. Great place to chill and hang out and catch up for a while.

Very cool and unique hotel. Loved the decor and vibe of the whole place. Cool bunkbeds and wish my kids had been with me on this trip. My ONLY complaint is that the water didn't get hot enough in the shower, mama likes a hot shower! They made it so the knob stops at a certain point, booooo! But I'd still come back I suppose.

Fieldhouse Jones is one of the best hotels I've stayed in, especially for the price. The hotel itself is designed well, the rooms are nice, you can get standard one bed hotel rooms or rooms that fit several people (I stayed, comfortably, with four friends). The hotel sits right next to the elevated train track, and amazingly (because they spared no expense on soundproofing the windows) you can not hear it at all. It's really very cool. The staff is great - everyone is truly extremely nice and helpful. There is a basement with a great kitchen and games for playing, things of that sort. A cafe and eating area on the main floor (good tea and lite bites). I heard tell that they have pizza on certain nights of the week, although I did not personally experience this on the Saturday-Monday that I stayed (but I did order pizza from an awesome place nearby that the staff recommended). It's a quick walk to the Chicago public transportation (three blocks or so), a very quick ride to the Chicago loop on the brown line. The hotel will also store any luggage, both on check in and check out days, which is convenient. I will absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Chicago, and I will definitely be staying here again.

Recently stayed one at FieldHouse Jones for an office retreat and really enjoyed the experience. The concept is on point in terms of design, decor, and catering to the millennial demographic. The sports theme shows through every inch of square footage, with a few quirky surprises among the detail. Overall, they take the hostel concept and upgrade it with a modern hotel experience, but with a price tag young travelers can afford. I was worried about the hotel being located right along the subway line, but I didn't hear it at all throughout the day or night. I did wear earplugs at night, however, due to the white noise caused by the A/C unit. The hotel room was tight, running lengthwise with two full-size bunk beds along the wall and a private bathroom on the far end. The room, beds, and bathroom were clean. I got a good night's rest and enjoyed a bagel sandwich from the coffee shop the next morning. Our group was also able to utilize meeting space in the basement for our staff activities. The only issue I ran into during my stay was having someone in the parking space our group requested, however, the front desk staff helped us find a temporary solution, and we were able to get into the spot within an hour of arrival. I also wouldn't recommend this hotel for families with small children. Nothing against this space, it just seems to be the kind of place built for the 18+ crowd and I there aren't many amenities to keep a young family entertained.

AVOID this place. The bed they gave me was missing a support piece underneath the mattress. I had to sleep on just the metal bars, with the mattress falling through the bars, which totally destroyed my back.

3.5/5 i would stay here again. Okay, so trying to make this a useful review. This is the kind of place you'd book if you: want to not be in a ritzy hotel, want to still be somewhat close to downtown, and have personal feelings about airbnb and the g-word. K, got it. As of when i stayed at the end of July 2017, could still tell they were figuring things out. Like literally i got of the elevator one day and the guy was drilling decor into the wall. Which the spot is cool though. It's like, fun, it's like staying inside a bike catalogue (-ue necessary). Free wifi throughout because it's 2017. Also free basic breakfast (cereal, bagel w/ toasting power). The staff are mostly helpful and while limited in purpose/scope (it's not like concierge at a hotel), they will more than happily try to answer your questions. There's water and some cookies they put out, which cute, but after sitting out for hours the fact that they may be dollar store cookies kinda sets in...i only had 3-4. They stored my bag the morning i arrived before checkin and after checkout before my flight. The hotel/hostel is like many new establishments catering to the millennial *you know, my types on limited income and supposed limited use according to our elders* travelers on a budget. It was just me, so i figured, sure I'll try a new spot since I've stayed in other typical spots in the city before. It's accessible. I intentionally was trying to not Uber at all this trip, so being right along Chicago ave was helpful to hop on the bus. The room was small. So if you're claustrophobic, and managed to ride the plane, you might find this small. But you're also not paying big city rates so it is what it is. Depending on how much coffee and/or gin you've had, you might vacillate between thinking it's chic or cheap - it's like, do i care whether this cement block cum bedside table is ikea? But it's the right height for when i plug in my phone? Ok. Saving the planet by not changing my towels, actually totally cool with that. Bathroom is fine, the entire wall is a mirror if that's important for you, and the water pressure on the floor 2 of 2 (well 3, but you're not showering in the basement) was fine. The shower head was detachable, or maybe that was just my room as i was also in an handicap-accessible room. Now, be aware that it's right next to the train rail (loop? It has a real name). So, at least from my room, every so often a train would pass. This means you might want to think about drawing down the blinds if you're not decent. I don't think it's something to worry about if you're a light sleeper though, the noise from the halls was more noticeable. If you need an iron though, you gotta leave your room to the communal laundry/computer area, which was i would say in comparison to the rest of the experience an under-designed (neglected?) space. So, would i stay here again? Sure. It was decently located, not crazily priced, and met what i needed as a solo traveler.

Pros: Unique set-up with fun themes. Recreation room with games. Comfy bed. Cons: An important part of a hotel feature is being able to sleep. Right outside our window was the train, and they do a pretty good job at sound proofing that, but it might bother some. Internal sound proofing could use a serious upgrade. People next door were up until 4am being quite loud. We could hear everything they said, every time they used the toilet, every time they took a shower, every time the opened and closed a door, every time they dropped something on the floor or touched a wall or moved a piece of furniture. I ended up having to knock on their door to ask them to quite down. Got 1 hour of sleep, tops. $130 is a lot of money to spend on a room where you don't get to sleep. If you value sleep, I would recommend staying elsewhere. If you are a night owl or party animal, this is the place for you!

I write this wide awake at 6am on a Sun morning when I should be deep asleep. 5 stars for the decor- very cool retro sports theme and salvaged use of old gym wood and memorabilia. Awesome heavy duty 3 story bunk bed my kids loved. 1 star for the cleanliness- the bunk comforters had hair all over that didn't belong to us- we had to do away with those and questioned the house keeping practices. 1 star for the noise level- coming into the hotel, seeing that it was next to the L (elevated train) was something no traveler wants to see but this was not the problem. It's well insulated against the outside noise so barely noticeable. The problem is our first floor room with the exposed 6" drain/sewer pipe. This serves as a built in alarm clock- whoever upstairs flushes the toilet or takes a shower, that's the time you must get up; this happens to be early Sunday morning. The noise is something comparable to a burst pipe or a small geyser if multiple showers are combined. I used to be a fan of exposed duct work and pipes until today; they have to do something about this noise level and insulate inside noises better. I look forward to going home and taking a nap after this rude awakening.

Absolutely loved this place!! Great price. Central location. The hotel is fun and has tons of personality. On Thurs and Friday night there is a slotcar race in the basement. There's ping pong, air hockey a washer and dryer. An immaculate gorgeous high end community kitchen. The lobby area has great seating and a pretty awesome cafe. The avocado toast is the best!! The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and have super comfy beds. I'm an urban dweller so hearing the train did not bother me at all. There was a nice kitchenette in our room. We had a queen bed, 2 twins and a sectional sofa. My only wish is to serve beer/wine which they say is coming soon. And a bathtub! Highly recommend this.

Description matches as advertised. Great spot, good parking, they have a little bar, food and a coffee shop. Games down stairs for kids to play things like air hockey, ping pong etc. full kitchen down stairs if you want to prepare your own meals. Close to the train and plenty of bus stops. The room itself was good the only thing is it's one open room and we were traveling with our 4 children. So no privacy and it can get loud with all those kids lol.

I found this place after checking the reviews on a few travel sites. Others said great things about it. It completely lived up to expectation. Cheap (about $50/night), lovely rooms and friendly staff. The basement includes a big kitchen and a lounge area with fooseball and pingpong. The breakfast in the morning is simple; bagels and oatmeal, but there's plenty of space to sit. Each room has its own bathroom and lockers and the beds were very comfy. The lobby and common areas are kind of hipster and mostly car-derby themed. As far as location goes, you can't beat it at this price. Just under a mile from the millenium park and a few blocks of the magnificent mile, I was thrilled to pay as little as I did. Great place. Would come here again.

The best hotel i have stayed at. Has a hostel feel too it. Got a room with 6 bunk beds. Has a lobby that people actually want to hang out in. Downstairs has the continental breakfast and a killer game room with table tennis, foosball etc. Again shock everyone having breakfast and a community feel. A train runs overhead but you cant hear it at all. They do have parking and its walkable to the area. Great staff, amazing hotel, killer rooms.

When I shop for a hotel I am concerned with safety, cleanliness, and economy in that order. FieldHouse Jones was a perfect match for all three! The environment/decor at the hotel is super fun. They keep costs low by not having extra amenities- no gym and housekeeping primarily replaces towels and empties trash. However, they do have continental breakfast and free wifi. They also have a state of the art kitchen downstairs that you are free to use at any time to cook for yourself. We traveled with our family of 6 and the room was perfect for us. We also saw some solo travelers and some groups. Parking fills up quickly, but there is a garage about a block away at $20 a day. The hotel is about a 5 min walk (probably less) from the brown/purple line L. The building is quite literally right under the L, but we were pleasantly surprised at how little we heard inside the room. I'm not sure what magic of engineering they did to keep the noise low, but it worked. The L going by just sounds like the air conditioner kicking on. We have some VERY light sleepers in our group and one were bothered by it. TLDR: FieldHouse Jones is a win in every category. Stay there!

There's a lot to like about Fieldhouse Jones but some room for improvement as well. I really want to give 3.5 Stars. I stumbled upon this hotel looking for a last minute deal. As a family of four we like to stay at hotels that allow a second room for the kiddos so this fit the bill at a good price for downtown. The good: This is a rehabbed factory and they did a great job of keeping some of the industrial feel with a hip vintage sports theme. Could have come across cheesy but it's well decorated and cool. Unique room setups are awesome - bunks in many rooms and great setups like what we had in a two room apartment. The main room had a queen bed and chaise lounger. The second room was a long, skinny space with two twins. Perfect for our young boys. Super high ceilings with exposed duct work and nicely decorated albeit small bathroom. But honestly pretty roomy for downtown! The basement level is devoted to common space including a huge kitchen and game room. Our boys loved the ping pong, foosball and air hockey. And the free cookies in the lobby! And thus transitions into the room for improvement... The so so: they have two HUGE slot car tracks. That you can't use. Yet are advertised in the rooms. I actually felt bad for the front desk lady...don't put your staff in this position. Take it off your room flyer until you figure out how to staff for it. Put up a sign. Something! We had two disappointed boys on our hands! They offer a free breakfast but it's pretty meh... don't count on it unless you are a budget traveler (I know this is a hostel hybrid so some folks might be happy with blah but free food...). It's almost like don't do it at all if it's going to be so blah. Coffee esp was undrinkable. Finally...and importantly...beds and pillows aren't that comfy. Actually the twin beds seemed better than our queen. It's really too bad because the setup of the room was so perfect. Other things worth mentioning... though it is adjacent to the El, the noise wasn't bad at all. If parking runs out there is a roomy Spothero lot next door. The neighborhood is definitely in transition but don't be scared away. It was safe if you pay attn and quiet and within a few blocks you can be into the main hubbub of Chicago. Also very close to the El for quick access to the Loop.

Our family had a great time at this hotel. We live just outside of the city and wanted to have a weekend in the city where we could visit all of the chicago sites that an 8 and 10 year old would enjoy. We also didn't want to break the bank for a family of four so we chose FH Jones and loved it. The rooms were big and clean. The hotel was also very clean and the staff was extremely accommodating. Very cool spot and a place that I would highly recommend for any out of towners

What a fun surprise. We loved the FieldHouse Jones. Quirky atmosphere, great coffee and empanadas, free foosball and ping pong in the basement and a fun secret tiny bar with the most creative delicious cocktails. Room was great - clean with incredibly comfortable bed and pillows. Even the parking was easy. Our car was right outside our room window. By the way - the price was right too! We will be back.

Amazing staff, clean rooms, way better than your average hotel. The breakfast was incredible, I got the egg sammy and it was killer. The coffee is amazing too! Our first night, we had a noise coming from our air conditioner that kept us up but they moved us quickly, no problem and we saw maintenance in there right away (: amazing, will be back soon!

This place exceeded my expectations. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. They offer a complimentary breakfast empanada and coffee/tea in the morning which is a nice touch! Downstairs they have a cool game area and kitchen. They have also put in a lot of effort in the decor and I found it very cool. Additionally, I thought the staff was super helpful, they helped me store my luggage before and after check in! If you're looking for a place with the fun of a hostel and a comfort of a hotel this is the place to be!

We booked a room on hotels.com about two weeks ago for Tuesday, June 26th. Upon arrival we were told that our res was cancelled because our card was declined. Really?????? I verified with our credit card company that the card was never run. It's obvious. The ENTIRE city of Chicago was sold out of hotel rooms on Tuesday. It took us hours and we had to travel outside the city and pay double rate at 9 pm. But the patronizing dude at the front desk told us we could use your WiFi to find a room. Wow. Thanks. He obviously was just laughing at us and trying to get rid of us. Hard to believe that you could cancel a reservation for no reason. No call, no email, no apology.

I was pleasantly surprised by the service and cleanliness here. Check in was fast and easy- the parking is literally right outside the front door so it was really nice not having to carry your luggage very far. The atmosphere is really unique and everything was spotless. The beds in the room were comfy and the shower was huge! As we were packing up, we accidentally forgot a couple things, but they called us and let us know ASAP (we were still cleaning off our car from the snow) so we were able to go back and get them which was super nice of them to do. Thanks for the great stay!

I love this place! It is so clean, new, and the staff is terrific. The staff was very knowledgeable about the city and the area. They all appeared to love their jobs and helping their guests. Whenever I got turned around I would call them and they would help me get back on track or figure out how to get back home. One night I was at dinner and hungry for dessert and wanted to know what places I could stop at that would be on the way back to the hotel. I called and they helped me figure out out. They even let me borrow one of their umbrellas when it started to rain unexpectedly. I will stay here again during future trips to Chicago and am very happy I chose to stay here this time.

Stayed here this past weekend with family this past weekend. Very cool, trendy concept. It is a hotel, although has 2 hostel type rooms, but reminded me a lot of the hostels (although much nicer) I stayed at in Europe. The hotel had just been open for a week or two before we arrived & it showed. Everything was spotless & our couch in our room just showed up after we checked in. They have a nice kitchen area, along with lots of games, ping pong, and a race car table although they were still waiting on the cars. Our room was nice. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apt that had one room double bunk & a twin bunk, & another with a double bed. The main room had a couch (see above), and a small kitchen area. It was comfortable, but small, but how much are you really in your room in Chicago? The price was great, but I'm not sure how long the rates will stay that low. The location was convenient & there's a metro stop near by- there was some noise with construction & the train nearby. The hotel had a little party for march madness/st pattys/opening where they had free beer, mixed drinks & such, along with snacks & amazing empanadas (see 5411 empanadas). We were able to talk to the owner which was nice. This isn't typical, but a fun aspect of our stay. There are a few kinks that are working out, but again new & overall a great stay!

This place was in one word awesome. My family and I took a spur of the moment trip to Chicago from Cincinnati. They were able to accommodate my family of 8 in a room that was really nice. We stayed only for one night but that place left a good impression on me and my family. The room has a modern industrial feel to it which was really cool. There were three full size bunk beds which the kids loved. Everything was clean and comfortable. We took advantage of the basement amenities which include an air hockey table, table tennis, and a foosball table. The community kitchen was different but very nice we had all to ourselves for dinner, which we picked up exploring the city. Definitely would recommend anyone to stay here.

I wouldn't recommend. My family (2 adults and 2 teens) and I stayed here the first week of July. Extremely tight sleeping quarters, at least the room we had. We did the queen bed with side bunk. It was nice that everyone had their own bed (hubby and I shared). But it only had the 1 small room and a private bathroom. No refrigerator. No sofa. Not even a coffee pot. We paid $320.00 for 2 nights. It just wasn't worth it. Plus you have to pay for parking. First and last time staying here.

I was not sure what to expect since I book it thru hotels.com it is a good price $80 a night plus $23 for parking. The staff is super friendly help with any questions asked. Also they serve continental breakfast cereal oatmeal and bagel with coffee and tea with fruits. Basement has multiple game area and also have coloring books in drawer under the massive tv, along with books. At first I thought it's more of a hostel the way the room are set up but we stayed in a queen bed with a double bunk bed above. The ac control are easy to use and the bathroom is super clean the shower pressure is decent but with the shower head you get a lot of water coming out I would rate the shower an 8. Over all I love this place and will stay again if ever in Chicago.

One of my all time favorite boutique hotels! Can't say enough good things about the full-on old school sports theme decor, staff and cleanliness. Would definitely stay here again.

Have stayed here a number of times in the past and usually had a pretty good experience (despite the somewhat snobby and judgey attitudes of a number of the male front desk staff) but tonight had a friend stop by and being after hours I went down to the front door to let him, and when my friend didn't have an ID on him the front desk guy made a huge difference deal about not letting him in. I mean obviously I knew him and had invited him over, and with as many times as I've stayed here and as much money as I've spent here I should be allowed to vouche for a friend who wants to visit. It was rediculous. That whole interaction along with the snotty attitudes makes me much less likely to recommend this hotel to anyone, because poor customer service should be a hangable offense for any business.

This place is very vintage. Loved every bit of it, great experience, front desk also very polite and friendly. Not to many options for breakfast but what I did have was amazing (spinach empanadas). They do give you coins to use for a complementary meal. I believe their breakfast is from 7-11am. Now the rooms are small pictures look huge compare to what you really get. I got the uptown room and it was pretty small. They have lockers for you to place your things in but nothin special. The lockers they do offer have maybe 5 hangers in each one. So we all couldn't hang our things, or even a lot of things. This place is more to just sleep and wake up do your thing all day and come back. Walls are thin you can pretty much hear your neighbors walking around and outside the hall as well. As far as cleaning, they don't do much. All they really do is pick up the trash and that's it. They leave used towels they gave us no new shampoos or body wash, which was totally fine because I normally ring my own things but still. Our view was on the second floor over looking a bridge were the red line I believe passes by every 10min. Not a loud train either so don't worry about it being too loud and interrupting anything. There's also a bar called LIQR I believe that's pretty cool. Parking good luck on finding free parking, everything is paybox.Over all this place is a pretty cool place to crash.

Fieldhouse Jones cancelled our reservations two weeks before our trip. Had reservations for couple months and looking forward to trip with 6 buddies who are coming from all over the country. Brutal! Now in full scramble and no chance of location we want.

Only good comments about this hotel, while we waited for our room they had a variety of games to play in their lobby. They didn't even yell at us when my obnoxious "friend" blatantly screamed when her clumsiness knocked over our Jenga game. They had a room ready early for us & the room was clean. Only negative comment was the walls were paper thin & you can hear your neighbors blow drying their hair. Overall recommend this hotel for any age.

Great new concept of hotel! I was traveling with 4 kids and the accommodations fit perfectly for my needs. Most other places required me to get 2 separate rooms which was not practical with younger kids. It is still a work in process but the environment was super friendly and clean. Pizza was provided each evening and bagels and cereal options were offered each morning in the basement kitchen. The environmental felt very safe with many other friendly travelers. I parked at the apartments a block away for.$30 each night. It wasn't in/out parking so you have to pay each time you park. Street parking available max 2 hours. I would say that this is not the kind of hotel where you just stay in your room. I am a sort of people person and loved the capability of going to the first floor or basement to hang out when we didn't have existing plans. Overall my family enjoyed the stay. I can't wait until my next trip to stay here again to see the progress.
