Berkeley Business Association Removes ‘Gourmet Ghetto’ Banners | Eater SF

"I learned that Fieldwork, a prolific Berkeley-based brewery, is expanding again: it's opening its seventh taproom in Town Center Corte Madera, a 2,400-square-foot indoor-outdoor space that will feature 18 beers on tap and a full food menu when it arrives in 2020." - Caleb Pershan

The craft beers are excellent, with a wide variety to suit every taste, but what really surprised me were the pizzas – absolutely delicious. Fresh ingredients, perfect crust, and unique flavor combinations that pair perfectly with the beer. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is super friendly.

📍 Fieldwork Brewing Company - Corte Madera is a popular craft beer taproom located in the Corte Madera Town Center. It features a constantly rotating selection of freshly brewed beers—including a focus on IPAs, lagers, and various experimental styles—available by the glass or as a tasting flight. July 2025: Been coming here for lunch and 🍺 for a while. Have to update my review. Sat at the bar and ordered the Caesar chicken wrap, the hummus plate and the chicken wings. Everything was very tasty 😋. I tried the S-Tier Series beer #4 which was a TDH hazy IPA. Was fabulous. Love this place. Bar service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back again. July 2021? Came here on 7-19-21 and enjoyed the corn pizza, the summer salad, and a few 🍻 tasters. This place is a gem. I wish the other Fieldwork breweries had pizza. The food was top notch 👍.

Google
Absolutely LOVE fieldwork!! Thank you to the amazing Stella for the sour cherry recommendation. I am someone who is not a huge fan of beer, and her recommended drink was the best I’ve ever had at a beer garden!!

Bill R.

Google
After thinking about it for too long, I finally headed here for a flight this afternoon. Ordered myself a flight of hazy IPAs. Delicious. Great service, cool vibe, and totally relaxing. Next time, I'll order some food. If it's as good as the beer, it will be a great time!

Liz J.

Google
Best beer in the entire Bay and pretty much anywhere — and believe me I have tried them all around! This place has ruined me for pretty much all other beer. And super friendly staff with great pizzas and food! I love the shishito peppers too. This place is a gem. So lucky to have it here in Marin. Don’t be deterred that it’s in a mall. It’s a lovely outdoor mall space w loads of kids and families and dogs and live bands and great eateries — straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie. The best of Marin!

Google
The demanding Corte Madiera crowd excepts the best and Fieldwork Brewing Company was coming up short. The company Ben baked wings were undercooked and rubbery. The Fun Guy pizza saved the day, though and the beer selection helped. In draft were several sweet Belgian beers along with the usual overly hoppy IPAs.

Susan R.

Google
Still our favorite Saturday lunch spot. Food is simple but great and service is the most friendly I’ve experienced in Marin. Casual, bring the kids, go as you are.

Yelp
Granted it's in a bougie strip mall but our introduction to Fieldwork was everything you would want it to be! Great service, tasty food, plenty of choices and delicious beer! We cannot wait for Fieldwork to open in Montgomery Village/Santa Rosa!! We opted for a flight and though each beer hit the spot, Pulp and Painted Gold were my top favorites! Hubby did go home with a 4 pack but had a hard time deciding between the hazys. For food, we wanted something to tide us over till dinner so we opted for the garlic fries and fried cauliflower. The pool of oil on the tray under the cauliflower had me nervous but all in all, the flavor and crispness were on point. The fries were hot, crispy and good, but not at all "garlicy" so that would be my onlllllyy negative. Parmesan, yes. Garlic, no. (I think fresh garlic is always the best option so maybe I'm picky.) But we were here for the beer and that super! Nice introduction to what my husband is calling his "new favorite!"

Yelp
Nice spot. The layout and vibe is casual and comfortable. The salad was solid and the Margarita Pizza (crispy) was delicious! I wanted the Detroit style but my better half won the battle. I'm happy they offer 3 non-alcoholic beers and Root Beer. The NIPA I had was excellent. Fieldwork has been the best Bay Area brewery since the first location in Berkeley opened. The story about the owner and name are cool too.

Yelp
Whenever my family and I visit Marin County, we always make it a point to stop by for some beer and pizza; it's fantastic how kid and pet friendly they are, making our family outings even better. They offer a wonderful variety of fruity sours and delicious alcoholic slushies, perfect for the summer heat. I tried a wine slushie and theBlueberry Parfait. My husband opted for a flight since he couldn't pick just one, as they all sounded so appealing to him. To start, we ordered the Garlic fries and honey Calabrian baked wings. They arrived quickly and were sizzling hot. Their pizza selection is impressive, with really creative toppings; since we had our little one with us, we chose the classic pepperoni, and it was fantastic! The ambience is always amazing at the shopping center. Staff is friendly and bathrooms are kept clean.

Yelp
Came in during the week after a hike. Not busy at all. Service was super fast. We had the Bare Knuckle pizza, half without the bacon because my daughter is a vegetarian. It was delicious!!! Love the garlic white sauce with the bacon and tater tots. Crust was perfect, not too hard. I don't normally like pickles but the fried pickles were good. We brought our dog with us and it was nice that they allowed dogs inside and not only outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Good pizza and beer. The staff is helpful and friendly. This is the perfect place to put yourself in "time out" during a shopping day...
google avatar

Yelp
grateful for clearly labeled vegan options! they sounded enticing so we got 2 pizzas to go, but honestly they were a bit disappointing. the sauce was thin/minimal and not super flavorful.
google avatar

Allen A.

Yelp
My wife and I had delicious wraps for dinner and excellent beer. They have a large selection of pizza and beer. The manager, Anikka Riggins, was very hospitable and provided tastes of various beers. Great restaurant for a casual fun dinner.
google avatar

Tiffany V.

Yelp
My dad and I really enjoy the pizza and Caesar salad here so we decided to stop by and order the delivery boy but this time we got the thicker crust version which was super yummy. Their Caesar salad is always so good and well dressed, plus it's a perfect size to share. I'm not really a beer girl but I was in the mood for one so I decided to try Greetings from Raspberry park and it was actually quite good. This place is the perfect spot for a casual lunch/dinner

Yelp
Best beers in the world? Quite possibly. You'd have to go all the way to Santa Rosa to compare it to anything even close in quality and taste. Maybe Henhouse or Russian River come to mind IF I were to compare but only to illustrate the caliber of product we have here at Fieldwork. Catch a Flight, pick your poison. With 26 on tap today there's bound to be one tailored to your liking. (IPA lot ) when I come here. Cheers and thank me later.

Yelp
Father's Day pizza and hefeweizen during the mid-afternoon lull. Though there were only two of us, we were able to sit at the large outdoor table between the two front doors and nicely protected from the wind. Corte Madera Town Center can be very breezy even on a sunny day. Having read enthusiastic reviews, we ordered the Delivery Boy pizza and it was very good, crispy crust, the right amount of toppings, the pepperoni also thin and crispy. The barman was kind and took my order at the bar as I am not the demographic for the QR code scanning thing. Highly recommend Fieldwork, nice outdoor seating in the middle of Town Center, great beer selection and pizza and friendly staff!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was terrible. I didn't order food because both staff members in the restaurant didn't want to provide service and seat me at a table. I know they looked at me and kept working....so I left. Didn't even deserve a star but couldn't undo it.
google avatar

Angelica O.

Yelp
came here with a friend because we kept hearing about all the beer options and that the food was really good. The parking was great since it is located in an outdoor mall. once you park you walk around for a bit. Then you will see the location. We came on a Monday before doing some Christmas shopping. Anyway, the food was great, service was great, and the way you order beers and food is by using a QR code on the table and then the food and drinks come out. contact is limited and that is nice because we got to talk and hang out until the waiter came then we talked to him. we ordered some pizza and fries both options were good. We got flights to decide what beer we wanted. New to the brewing scene I thought it was a bit weird that not all beers on tap are available in a to go option but maybe that's a normal thing. I can't wait to come back with a bigger crowd.

Yelp
I'm sounding the alarm! Alert everyone, alert. If you love pizza and you love an incredible deal, pay attention. You're invited to the COOLEST pizza party in town. Ready for the best part? It's all you can eat (AYCE). Don't rub your eyes. You read this correctly. An all you can eat deal in Marin is rare. There's no secret knock or exclusive membership. Simply wait until the first Tuesday of the month and then head over to Fieldwork in Corte Madera by 5 pm. Let the incredible staff know you're there for the pizza party. For $13, you get a cool wristband and self serve pizza by the slice. Bring your own party hats. There were three option; olive with onions, plain, and pepperoni. The pies may change but this deal is solid. Of course, all this pizza will make you thirsty. There are lots of choices in addition to a large beer selection in cans and on tap.

Yelp
EVERYONE who works here is kind, warm, welcoming. Everyone. As a former Corte Madera local I will continue to drive to this location for the service, the recommendations... the unpretentious environment... the Detroit style pizza and the cauliflower appetizer. If you're doing a dry January or sober summer get some tonics. I actually don't care what you do so long as you are NICE to the staff. Especially Hayden.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is SO good! A party of 6 of us came in after a hike in Marin and it was PERFECTION. From ordering via QR code at the table, everything coming out within minutes, the server staff being friendly and prompt and welcoming, to the food being DELICIOUS! It hit the spot, definitely coming back here after any hikes! We had chicken becahmel pocket sandwich, garlic fries, and goat cheese dip (HAVE TO HAVE THIS!! If you like goat cheese, you'll salivate over this). Friends also had the Brussels sprouts, hummus, and meatball pocket sandwich and we all agree we're coming back next time :-)

Yelp
Right inside Corte Madera mall with tons of parking and an easy vibe, I love bringing my dog here for a Rainbow Parfait sour while shopping at REI or Barnes & Noble. Service is sweet to my dog and great tasting pizza
google avatar

Zack B.

Yelp
Service and food here was incredible! The detroit style pizza was so darn good and the drinks were so tasty. Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Miguel P.

Yelp
Great service and delicious pizza. The beer are cild and dog's are welcomed. Located in the middle of a plaza makes it a great stop while shopping in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Fieldwork Brewing has always been my go-to for great beer, but lately they've seriously leveled up their pizza game! The pepperoni with ranch was absolute perfection. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent. As always, their beer doesn't disappoint, and the Pulp was especially fantastic this time around. Great vibes, amazing drinks, and now incredible pizza to match.
google avatar

Kristine K.

Yelp
I live nearby and have been dining here regularly since they first opened. I love all of their pizzas & appetizers, and am a huge fan of their sour (especially the parfait series) and dark beers. They are good for groups (reservations available online) and service is easy with the QR code. The staff are great - my favorite experience was when we had a power outage at home, but the Town Center had electricity so we hung out at the bar, enjoyed a hot meal with cold beer, and the staff kindly allowed me to charge my phone! I like the rewards program as well, lots of little perks over the year.

Yelp
When considering patronizing Fieldwork Corte Madera and leaving a tip, please consider the following: I was permanently kicked out for 2 reasons: 1) I had a bunch of papers which I" offered to throw out. The bartender said no, he would take care of it and did 2) I would often go outside for a few minutes. I have no problem with any business having whatever rules they want, but they never told me beforehand that either of those activities were a problem. When it is time to settle up your bill, please give them a non-monetary tip: do not treat customers like dirt. PS Fieldwork brewpubs are independently owned, the people at the other ones I have been to (e.g. Berkeley) are all wonderful.

Yelp
Denae was an amazing sever, excellent service, and great to converse with, the ambiance is very pleasant and the food was excellent and the beers were outstanding. Definitely would recommend this place and their other locations, great for friends and the whole family
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
Came in for a quick beer while we waited for our food to be ready at a near by restaurant. Sat at the bar and let the bartender know we were in a little bit of a rush and he delivered the beers and check nice and quick. Wish we would've had more time to enjoy a flight, always a fan of fieldwork's beers. Was surprised to see a bunch of high schoolers in here, but they had a pretty solid food menu aside from the brewery section.

Yelp
Went here after a hike last Saturday to have lunch and to watch a soccer game. I liked how there are very large TV screens which makes it easy to watch sports. They have a variety of beers and I had the Northwest King Citra double IPA 8.7% which was hazy and strong. My friend got the Japanese rice 4.5% which was a light lager. Our group also ordered Wings, Hummus, Margarita with pepperoni and mushroom and Detroit style pepperoni pizza. The interesting thing was their Ranch sauce was not the typical kind that you'd expect. It had a herbal taste almost like a tart aioli. The white sauce that comes with the wings they call it yogurt. They allowed only their food on the premises which was a bummer but understandable. I had gotten food from a neighboring venue across the way because I was craving French fries and they didn't have it. Their menu was kinda limited for my taste. Overall it has a nice and spacious area which hip top tables and regular seats.
google avatar

Anders B.

Yelp
The pizza and root beer is a great lunchtime idea and the root beer is soooo tasty, home made flavor and I love the outdoor seating area for people watching. Well priced and polite servers

Yelp
Open space in the middle of a shopping center. Food and drinks are ordered through an app at the table. Beer flight of IPAs were excellent. Pizza on the other hand was not good. Cheese and sauce had no flavor and the crust on the thin pizza was soggy. The Detroit style pizza crust was good but the bacon was undercooked and super fatty. Sauce tasted canned. Wont go back for their pizza.

Sara L.

Yelp
After extensive research of restaurants and reviews, we chose this place because of closeness to our hotel and great reviews. We figured the closeness meant pizza would still be fresh and warm. My daughter wanted cheese pizza, hard to go wrong with that, and we also ordered the Fun Guy pizza and the Arancini app. All were very disappointing. The food was delivered to our hotel, all of it was cold. The good part was it wasn't soggy, but how could it be that cold being so close??? Also, even worse, hardly any flavor on the pizzas. My daughter said it needs salt, which is unlike her. She was right, but it needed more than that. Both pizzas lacked flavor, needs garlic, salt, anything. The Arancini is described as fried mushroom risotto with marinara, but the only flavor I could taste was hot red pepper flakes, making them inedible. One bite and done. I've never left a review before. I joined the restaurants rewards club while ordering thinking surely we'd come back next time we are visiting, but nope. It doesn't take much to please me with pizza but I spent a lot of money on a very disappointing meal.
google avatar

Vivian W.

Yelp
Came for lunch and fieldwork did not disappoint! We ordered the kale salad (portion was bigger than expected!) and a Hail Mary pizza. It's was one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. The crust was thin and crispy--so good! Highly recommend
google avatar

Aleah N.

Yelp
Got the marg pizza and caesar salad. The pizza lacked flavor.. it was pretty much inedible. The caesar salad was okay but I had to ask for a side of dressing since it initially came with probably a table spoon amount. I would absolutely NOT recommend. Also, you order yourself on the app so the customer service was horrendous when needing anything more than what you ordered.

Yelp
Wow! I came here 2 days in a row. First night, took someone approx 15 min to help me and he saw me and didn't seem too busy. Helped a man who came in after me, definitely felt some discrimination. The next day, I came by at approx 2 pm and lousy customer service. I am not sure it they are short staffed but the staff was all over the place and just zero organization. I am surprised they are actually getting so much business and or still in business. There was a man that came in approx 10 min ago, and nobody paid any attention to him, so he just walked out upset. I am a native of Marin and a foodie. Never have i seen such poor management or organization. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I love Fieldwork, my favorite brewery! This location has pretty much the full selection & lots of tasty food options. The place is new & very well kept, and has industrial chic vibes that stay true to the original location's ambiance. The staff was kind and sat us even though half of our party wasn't there. I really enjoyed the Ice Cream Castles stout, it was super chocolatey and full of vanilla, and I would love it if they made that a more normal part of their rotation! Tiger Uppercut was also delicious, super juicy. The pizzas were nice and crispy, saucy, and topped with delicious morsels. The salad & Brussel sprouts were excellent as well! The shishito peppers were great until I hit the last pepper, which was randomly insanely hot and killed me. All in all a great beer experience with good food to boot!

Alyssa R.

Yelp
My bar tender (beer master) was there Saturday night, I didn't catch his name I was in a rush, but he was so helpful. I Came in from a restaurant up the road that had a hazy from fieldworks and when I find a beer I love, which isn't often, I have to try to get a pack of it. I walked in and this guy was a rockstar beer expert knowing exactly what I was looking for. he helped me nail down which of the MANY hazy beer options was mine. Thanks so much! -A hazy loving girl

Claiborne W.

Yelp
Excellent food and truly amazing beers. Haven't had a bad beer yet from them and I've been coming here for years. Love all the rotating NEIPAs and their love of Nelson Hops. I'd like to give props to Denay who is a top notch server. Quick and friendly service with spot on recommendations. Thank you Denay! Don't miss this place as they are one of the best breweries hands down in the North Bay.
google avatar

Marina B.

Yelp
Delicious food & great customer service! Don't skip on the fresh green salad and garlic fries!

Yelp
This is my first time EVER writing a negative review about anything because I am usually not that type of person but on this incident I will have to leave a note to maybe prevent this from happening in future orders. I had ordered for pick up and we well understood that it would be an hour wait because that what was communicated on the site, no problem. Once we arrived we picked up our order and took it home. We were munching on the pizza and opened the salad box to disappointment that a used plastic glove was left in the corner. We didn't feel too good about eating the rest of it so we sadly threw it out, hopefully this can serve as reminder for future take out orders. Will be back, and will remain a loyal customer but just a little disappointed, it can totally happen but would not like to open a takeout box like this again.
google avatar

Paulie S.

Yelp
Always love Field works. Something different at each one but the one consistent is really nice beers. We are trying to go to all the field works breweries. Progress towards :)
google avatar

Bradley B.

Yelp
Great pizza, naan, hummus, and beer. Lots of options although at times many selections are not available. While food and beers come out quickly, it is a QR code menu/order spot. As such, wait staff is not the friendliest nor most attentive.
google avatar

Anila Y.

Yelp
I recently moved to Marin, and have been super disappointed with the dining out options compared to the rest of the Bay Area...so Fieldwork was such an enjoyably pleasant surprise! We stopped here hungry after a hike, and I have to say...their pizza is sooooo good! We got the Margherita with Chili Oil and the Delivery Boy with shisito peppers instead of pepperoni. Honestly, the pizza is so good--not just "good, for a brewery" just genuinely good pizza. On to the drinks: I got the German Dunkel beer and my fiance got the "Ticket to Europe" Flight. First of all, the flight was epic--6 beers with pretty generous pours. DDs be warned! I loved all their beers, particularly the Czech Pilsner. Their beer menu is pretty extensive, so there is something for everyone. Love the location as well--inside the cute little mall in Corte Madera--and their patio has plenty of room to enjoy some fresh California air and sunshine.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
This place rocks. 31 beers on tap, several appetizers and pizzas, two salads and super-quick service. Solid food and beers- loved the timing and structure Pilsner style. What more can you want?

Joe T.

Yelp
A brewery without a bartender that knows the beers. Sad. Disjointed layout. Beer and food okay
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I almost always get pizzas to go from here. We did dine there in warm weather once outside and it was a nice ambiance. The thin crust pizzas are really good. I especially love the Fun Guy - mushrooms, porcini cream, onion, goat cheese and pecorino. It's clean, balanced and simply delicious. I have a very hard time not eating the whole thing before I even get it home! My wife got really disappointed when they pulled the meatball pizza off the menu. She reluctantly settles for the Classic Pepperoni. It's good, but not great like the Fun Guy. My son enjoyed the draft beer selection when we ate there the one time. I will continue going unless they pull the Fun Guy also.

Sue M.

Yelp
Sad experience today. We've been going to Fieldwork for years. We used to love going to the brewery in Berkeley and were excited when it opened in Corte Madera - no longer anything to be excited about. Tables were dirty, could smell garbage, water was warm, food was mediocre. Kids were running around screaming. Had to ask for napkins. Waitress was sweet but explained that everyone working there was new and no one knew much about the beers to give any advice. No flights offered. Fieldwork is past its prime. It was like eating in an airport restaurant, just a bland and disappointing mall food court experience. 2 stars for the sweet waitress who tried but was new and couldn't help.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Super great thin crust pizza. The cook on it can be a little inconsistent, burned on the bottom unfortunately. So maybe give a heads up. The mozzarella they use is fantastic.
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but none of our three pizzas offered much in terms of flavor. The kids shared a cheese pizza and it barely had any cheese and huge portions that were burnt. I ordered the Hail Mary and while it was the best pizza of the three, that wasn't saying much. You can barely taste the chili and the chicken was lifeless. The best part of that pizza was the honey and you can definitely taste it. My wife had the Walk In The Park and while Brussel sprouts and bacon on a pizza sounded like a good idea, the pizza was bad enough where none of us would eat it. I had a flight with all four of their sour beers but none of them tasted good and I powered through to finish them. The service was good and our waitress was attentive. The atmosphere was decent as well. In the end, the food and beer were very lackluster and not worth coming back to.

Damon H.

Yelp
Excellent beer and friendly staff. Had the pretzel which was top notch. Will return for sure when back in town.
google avatar

Jonathan T.

Yelp
Heard of it several times, but it is the first time I tried it. Maybe it's because the name itself made me think it's more known for its beverages and drinks? Anyway, I ordered their Hail Mary pizza (but without the calabrian chili sauce). I love it. It is a little sweet due to the honey, but not teeth-screamingly sweet. It is also rather light so you don't feel like you overate. I ate outside so the scenery adds points haha. So does the service. Next time, i'll come at night and try their drinks too!
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner during our short stay in Corte Madera. It's in the middle of an outdoor mall and their outside seating area is dog friendly. Their pizzas are decent (my son has discerning tastes after working in a pizza restaurant), and good selection of their beers. The ordering process can seem a little complicated, but is pretty convenient once you get the hang of it. Wait time for our food was minimal, and service was friendly enough. All in all, an enjoyable meal.

Joan S.

Yelp
This is a great Fieldwork location. Fieldwork has great selection of craft beers and we were introduced years ago to other locations We were in the area visited the Corte Madera location. It was a cold evening and we loved that they had plenty of indoor seating. The staff was very friendly and our waiter, Anthony, was patient and knowledgable. We like Belgian and Dark. He recommended some and they were all delicious (Chloe, Madalyn, Cow House, Night Maker). The crispy cauliflower was spot on with the crunch and flavor. We wanted to try something different and ordered the Oh My Gourd pizza. This one doesn't have red sauce but the combination of the butternut squash, bacon, onion, and smoked cheese worked so well. Would order both dishes again.
google avatar

Hanna A.

Yelp
On our trip out to the Bay, we had to make a stop for dinner and brews at Fieldwork Brewing, our friends local fav. This place surpassed all the hype it got with several rotating beer options and gourmet pizzas. Fieldwork specializes in IPAs, which is most of what we tried! You can get any taster for $2 and they've got flight cards to fill up your sheet to try them all! Also the flight pours are HEAVY! Amazing amazing amazing. You get more than what you pay for, which I've never said ever. 10000% had the best experience and the service matched it all too. I hope to be back soon!!
