I came to the butcher shop and asked for a pound and a half of fajitas and the weight was not exact and the employee informed me that he could not do anything because he was prohibited from using a knife. It is surprising what I just heard. This was exactly at 4:01 pm today, October 7. The important thing is to serve the consumer or customer well... or rather, what they tell you and what it weighs is what they have to sell you.

The best price for eggs I've seen in the whole city. I get 18 eggs for a little over $3 here. Across the board their prices are pretty hard to beat here. The only thing I'll say is that the produce isn't always the freshest so I don't usually buy produce here unless I plan to cook with it soon. That said, I've never had any issues with it and the prices are good.

They have fresh traditional Mexican sweets and some fresh food to go with it if you like it's okay grocery store overall. The barbacoa I got I wasn't to happy about it tasted like pulled pork more then anything customer service was nice though but I wouldn't recommend getting barbacoa from there.

Its close to the outskirts of Austin, but there is a LOT of traffic nearby. So just be careful. Other than that the food their deli area sells is delicious. They have Taco Tuesday and they are worth the cost!

Great location near transit stop with other stores in the shopping center. They have a great selection of meats and fish. Which the majority is fresh from the meat market. If you are looking for a whole pig you can find it here.

First visit. Nice store. Nice variety of meat,vegetables seafood and other food stables with a focus on the latino community. Great prices as well. I like it very much. I will return during my next visit to Austin

The store I come and get certain things first of all cashiers are rude stand and be eating while the customer has to put there own groceries in et he basket mind you your already paying for your groceries cashiers can at least put your groceries in the basket half of the employees don't speak no English. Common courtesy which they have none

Excellent supermarket. I was very impressed with the bakery department and the variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits. The supermarket is very clean and prices are reasonable. I also like that Fiesta does not charge for bags like HEB or Walmart. This is my go to grocery store while I stay in Austin.

Forgive me fiesta... I was in a rush needed to get in and out quickly. Even though it's a big market it was pretty empty on an early weekday,This is a market that predominantly has Hispanic foods. The produce guy asked me to speak Spanish since it seemed that was what he spoke. The cashiers spoke English ianf Spanish.I was specifically looking for aji dulce peppers , and fresh ciulantro( not cilantro) . I had wanted to make an authentic Sofrita, .these peppers I'm not familiar with but trying to make an authentic Sofrita without substitutions of other available peppers. . When I went in, I grabbed one cart it was stuck in another cart, went on to another cart ... same thing. So finally wrestled a cart free and the wheels are all jacked up veering me off to the left... ugh! I asked the produce man , where I could find the aji dulce peppers and he starts pointing out every sweet pepper ( red, green, yellow) which in his defense are sweet peppers, but not the ones I was looking for). I specifically picked Fiesta because instacart had the peppers listed for Fiesta,. But they did not have them. I . Great fresh produce. Just like any other market, you need to compare prices from the regular grocery store that you use .'some prices were higher than you would find at the larger grocery chains. If there was a fiesta by me I would definitely shop produce. There was also Bakery with a small selection. I bought a pumpkin empanada. It wasn't it as sweet as the Panaderia that I go to, but maybe it was a more traditional taste without a lot of sugar.

I do recommend Fiesta becuase they have a selection of international items for your specials need. Also a good meat poultry are and , of course the Bakery is one of my favorite. Sweet delicious bread , cakes, bolillos etc. Also good prices. Love Fiesta

I love that the pricing is ok and the new remodeling of the store. The only concern is the service when checking out. They don't talk!

I like shopping in Fiesta, however this morning, Armando, the cashier was very unfriendly.

Never had an issue at this fiesta for the most part. Food prices are good I just wish the cashiers were a bit friendlier. I love coming here for fresh seafood and mexican snacks.

One of the best grocery stores I've ever shopped at. They have a hot counter with yummy food. Also, sell live blue crabs.

The conchitas from the panaderia weren't good? My mom didn't like them & she's 85y/o. She was also hoping to find Mexican flags to sew her granddaughter a graduation sash but none to be found?? Bad shopping experience to say the least?

Yesterday I visited this Fiesta Mart location in South Austin for the 1st time ever & I so wished I lived closer because I fell in LOVE!!! Outside the front door even before entering Fiesta there was a radio DJ set up outside playing Spanish music!! How awesome is that! It made my HEB look so boring ;-). Once inside Fiesta it was so big & I loved how even though I had NEVER been shopping here before I knew exactly where everything was because on the top all around the store were big signs saying the different food products/departments like "Frozen, beer/wine, butcher, bakery"..very easy to read & find your way. And let me mention that you can buy huge, pretty, & such colorful piñatas!! Just what I need when I buying eggs & milk ;-) There was also a henna tattoo & eyebrow threading place inside Fiesta & a place to buy jewelry:-)...I know so cool!! Oh & my favorite....was the pan de dulce (Mexican sweet bread) selection!!!!! So fresh & super cheap! You know what I think it's a good thing I don't live near this Fiesta location after all..;-). And even though Fiesta carries many Mexican food items I saw ALL different ethnicities of people shopping there so that was awesome in itself:-). So needless to say I had a Fiesta inside Fiesta ;-) Until we meet again!!

Finally found best tacos in Austin. Funny, of all places claiming to be decent. Authentic Mexican tacos served with American portions. If you are hungry and haven't tried, you must. Chicken in red sauce, pulled pork and beef fajita, all three 100% flavors. Nice Latin cheese selection too. Mejores tacos en Austin. Deliciosos, grandes, baratos! Excelente servicio también. Que más quieres?

This Fiesta is one of the best things about living in my neighbor hood! They are always well stocked and have so much variety! The international foods section in Fiesta is magical, short of Whole Foods or Central Market you would be hard pressed to find anything that even compares. I find that they even sometimes have stuff Whole Foods and Central Market don't have. The Seafood selection here is always magnificent! While sometimes I do wonder if they have enough ice and cooling going on in the display case, its hard to beat the variety of seafood you can get here! Fiesta has become my default crawfish gettin spot during the spring and you can never beat the prices. The selection of Cajun products is also very impressive, they have everything from hot sauce to fish fry's in family sizes that a perfect for party's! I cant say enough good things about Fiesta! I like Fiesta way better than any other grocery store!! Chips like Layers, the international aisle with so many things you can't find anywhere, their brand of milk is so good and clean tasting, a ginormous variety of Mexican and South American cheeses!! I think their homemade tortillas rule too!! There are also really cute bowls and like mortars and pestals for making guacamole!! There is even an eyebrow threading place and a place to buy Virgin Mary statues like right in the store!!

Rude and disrespectful cashiers at check out. On their phones texting while ringing up customers. No manners and poor people skills.

Fiesta is always my go to place to come vote in south Austin. Besides voting it also has a great selection of world foods. The seafood department is probably the best in South Austin too. Every now and then we find good cuts of meat. They have a little cafe where you can grab a pretty decent lunch at a good price too. I'm definitely a fan of Fiesta!

BECARFUL with this place.. they are selling bad meat That's the second time I buy bad meet... and most of the food they sale is expired .I'll never go to that supermarket again.

I've always liked their fresh produce section. We happily stock up on limes, lemons, avocados, etc. at really cheap prices. Fiesta also came through for my son's recent science fair project. He needed to buy two varieties of detergent with phosphate, and we had a hard time finding these in the Austin area. Fortunately, we found them here. Most stores now only stock phosphate-free detergent. We could not figure out why.... we found out after he did the project. So, here is a bonus (3rd grade level) science lesson: Turns out that phosphates are a no-no because they adversely affect the environment. Turns out also they function as a water softener. According to the water table, Austin's water is soft enough so we do not need to use softeners. Hence the plethora of phosphate-free detergents on the market today. Ta-dah!

I have always loved the selection at a Fiesta! I have had to suffer the disappointment of not having one anywhere in the Tomball/Magnolia area! Fresh corn tortillas were rolling through the machine while I was there. It was a fun device to watch! The on duty manager greeted us at the door. Everything on the list and more was put in the cart. Pleasant music was played during the trip. It's so easy to spend hours in a Fiesta exploring new ethnic foods and then new brands and selections of familiar ethnic foods.

I always enjoy going to Fiesta. Things I love: 1) They are one of the few places that carry many of the ingredients needed to make Cuban Food from home. Really good cultural variety beyond that as well. 2) Try their Nature's Harvest organic dog food. Fiesta is the only place that sells it and it is only $10.99 for a big bag. Similar to high end name brands that cost more than twice as much at central market. See my picture of the bag. 3) Great deals on fresh fish, shramps, crawdaddies, etc.... 4) Good beer deals generally. 5) Real people just getting groceries and not trying to look hip in the process. 6) Blue Bell specials all day Son!!!! 7) Spice Corn Vendor outside. Do IT! 8) Bakery is pretty good. 9) Always open isles and clean. 10) Best option of the 4 spots near the crib (Target, HEB, Wally World, and Fiesta).

This Fiesta isn't as much of a fiesta as the north one. That one always seems to make your shopping more interesting and fun somehow :) However, it does have a wide selection of international ingredients and foods and it's mostly inexpensive. I found some products to be a lot more expensive than HEB, though. It seems like anything organic or fancy gets the high price treatment. They have a decent wine selection. If you're looking for anything diet, you're probably out of luck. The diet soda selection is very limited and I couldn't find any low-fat cheese (Low-fat cheese is a pretty stupid product though so I just took that hint and bought the real thing :) ). It's almost always busy, so bring your patience!

If any grocery store should get a 5 star rating it should absolutely be Fiesta! groceries have gotten so expensive these days and this place still manages to keep their prices low. This store is like the Granddaddy of grocery stores. This place not only has a HUGE selection of everything but they have an interesting twist on their idea of a supermarket. First thing you notice when you walk in is they sell pinatas! You then look to the left and what do you know, it's a deli / taco shop! Produce for days and days!! Pretty sure you can find just about anything here. Oh yea they eve have a jewelry store! They have an astonishing amount of seafood at this location and you can probably find any cut of meat here. And they have several check out lines so there is usually no wait. I came on Christmas Eve and we got right into check out no problem. If you live close, lucky you!!!

Fiesta on whole is a pretty good resource, should you require Mexican or Latin American food and sundries. They have some good stuff and sometimes even some good deals. I finally found Zaaschila hot sauce there. The 38th Street location is an upgraded, hopping mecca for shoppers, maybe partially because the HEB on the other side of 35 is a nightmare. This south location is a time warp, like going to the grocery store in the 90's. I can see where it could be a trying trip to the store on occasion. Yesterday they had four or five checkouts open, and all the lines reached to the aisles. Unless you are on Stassney going west, getting to this Fiesta is very difficult.

Your average Fiesta. Cheap groceries. Have some interesting selection of international vegetables and foods. Be aware that freshness of the food varies from time to time. There's a Mexican corn food truck in the front sells fresh grilled corn!!! Yum :)

When one decides to start a 7-10 day juice fast, Fiesta probably isn't the first place that comes to mind in your quest to source fresh produce. You'd likely start at Whole Foods, Central Market or Austin's fantastic local farmers markets. But with an average price tag of $15/day, juicing isn't cheap... and while shopping organic is ideal, that $15/day estimation can quickly become $25/day. In an effort to NOT spend my entire paycheck on fruits and veggies, I decided to get intimate with the produce section at Fiesta. I had spent some time perusing the deep selection of international foods at Fiesta, but admittedly hadn't gone far beyond those aisles. And my bank account is glad that I finally happened upon this double rainbow of everything from fresh apples, strawberries, raspberries, grapefruit, tangelos, oranges, carrots, lemons, pineapple, cabbage, cucumbers, celery, Key limes, grapes, pears, kale, Swiss chard, spinach, blueberries, plums and blackberries. Yes, I bought all of that and more for $47 (which equates to at least a 3-day juice fast supply). And now my liquefied produce is truly liquid gold! Now don't jump off the couch so quickly - keep in mind that shopping produce at Fiesta is a time commitment. In addition to giving the goods a thorough visual inspection, you'll also need to familiarize yourself with how various fruits and veggies should feel. Touch everything before you buy so you don't end up bringing home any lemons - I mean duds! The staff here is always warm, helpful and accommodating, and you shouldn't shy away from asking questions even if your Spanish is out of practice.

My mom's hot chocolate is the best thing that ever happened. She puts cinnamon sticks in it, and nutmeg, and some other special spices I can't discern because she makes sure I'm not looking when she puts them in. But one thing I do know that goes into her hot chocolate: Frescavena. Try finding Frescavena anywhere in Austin. (Hint: it wont happen.) I have no idea why I ventured to the Fiesta Supermarket, why it took me so long, or why, by some miracle, I encountered the Frescavena and made it all my own. As a thickening agent, Frescavena will render your hot chocolate lovely and decadent. Among the other things I bought: bolillos (like 50 for $1, to butter and toast and eat with the hot chocolate); a lifetime supply of cinnamon for 20 centavos; some other Dominican-centric accoutrements. I deeply regret not getting the year's supply of rice, as I now rush to HEB to stock my pantry with it. Regrets, folks. Go to Fiesta and grab your Latino luxuries on the cheap. Make that hot chocolate. Watch it work.

This is the first and last time I ever visit this place !!!!! I was in line to purchase my items and the cashier did not have enough change in her register. Manager who was in charger "Roy" went over and got change and let the person in front of me skip ?????? Like what kind of respect do I have in this store as a a "valued" customer. PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS.

As I'm about to bid farewell to this part of town, I feel I need to write an update for this place. At first, I was not that enthralled, but like a lot of things that I'm initially put off by -- they won me over. It's really the GREAT ethnic foods section I love. It's like a mini world tour in just 3 mini aisles (they are little baby aisles). I'm in Italy, no I'm in England, no I'm in Morocco, no I'm in China, WTF am I??? It's great. Another thing, NEW (or seemingly new/clean) shopping carts. That really makes me happy. (Take Note: HEB, with your "Do You Feel Like Tetanus, Punk? carts) Also, the staff is really nice. There are many items I like that I find lacking here, but that's okay. I now know and accept them for their shortcomings. Because THAT is what love does!!!

GF: "Hey you know what would go good with the chicken tandoori you're making?" ME:"What?" GF:"Nan and hummus" ME:"Oh, hells yeah, let's go to the store and get some" GF:"Where you going?" ME:"To Fiesta, it's right down the street." GF:"No way is Fiesta gonna have hummus and nan." ME:"Yes they will." GF:"No they won't" ME:"Yes they will." GF:"How about this, if they have hummus AND nan, I'll buy." ME: "Deal" (handshake ensues) I have to admit, I don't like losing bets and I love eating free food. Well, after about thirty seconds of trying to search, to no avail, I started to leave, broken hearted. Yet, I saw a manager. Could it be? Will it be? I bravely asked for something that seemed like a lost cause. My girlfriend, in tow, snickering at my lost bet. Then I heard four beautiful words. "Yes, we have that" Like a Mexican Pocahontas she led me to the promise land of hummus and nan. I continued, proudly to the cahier. I love the smell of hummus and nan at dinner. It smells.......like victory.

After a co-worker found my Fiesta review on google, I decided that my last review - while impeccable in its own right - was somewhat inadequate. Here's what I can tell you about Fiesta: If you live in the Stassney area, you're taking all manner of shadiness into your hands if you go to HEB on Congress, Wm. Cannon, or 1-35. Super shady at all times of day, and especially night. Why not try Fiesta? You may leave feeling a little dirty, I'll grant you that. But you'll never leave feeling scared. If you are a tiny, gorgeous girly-type, like Sarah S., you may leave feeling ogled by the natives. And that is regrettable. But at least you live to be ogled another day. Next, may I point out the cheap, and of reasonable quality, produce? Next, may I recommend the wide selection of ethnic food, for those of you who are bold and daring in the kitchen? And for the truly bold and daring, there is even a food trailer out front selling the - what I understand might be popular - Mexican street food: elote en vaso - which, improperly translated in letters on the trailer, means "Corn on cup." If you like corn, you might like roasted corn swimming in creamy white sauce. If you're not sold by now, I don't know what I can tell you.

I remember some people telling me that it wasn't worthwhile to go to Fiesta. Or I heard the produce or the meat was sketchy and that it just wouldn't be a great trip. Then I read the reviews on Yelp of this location 5 minutes from my house and decided I was going to ditch my Wednesday evening ritual of grocery store hopping and head on over here instead. Walking in, I am greeted by a wide variety of produce. I went produce crazy when I saw the prices. Yes, you do have to pick through things. You need to know how a tomato is supposed to feel, what an orange is supposed to look like, etc. And you know what? Some of the produce really sucked, but there was so much more good produce there to compensate for the sucky things. So pretend you're at a street market and actually look for the good selection rather than have the best presented to you at like a Central Market. They had some "weird" foods, too, that I would have no idea how to cook- but I'd be willing to try. They had a wonderful selection of baked goodies. Their international foods area was pretty insane. They had things that I didn't even know what they were. Some of them landed in my cart, too. They do have a decent selection of "name brand" items, but they are at a premium. So decide whether or not it is worth the convenience for you. Their house brand is a lot cheaper than other stores' house brands. I tried their brand of mac n' cheese last night and it was on par with store brands I've gotten elsewhere- and it was only 39 cents a box. Beat that one with a stick, whydontcha. They also get thumbs way up for weird meats. I mean, what does one even do with a pound of chicken feet? Unfortunately, some of the meat had large brown spots, so I'll probably get my steak elsewhere- but the ground beef looked alright, especially if you need a giant meat log for a party or something. I did find a decent looking find of barbacoa (beef cheek meat) that looked yummy, so I snatched it- but I think it'll be a while before I try the chicken feet. 5 stars definitely go to the employees of Fiesta. Marta, my cashier was a sweet woman and we actually had a real conversation rather than some sad, depressed, "I have to say hello to you because I work here," shtick so many other places do. She made my first experience super fun and I didn't really see any frowning employees anywhere, which was cool. Out in the parking lot, there was some random entourage of a group of kids driving around asking people if they wanted perfume or cologne samples. It sounded like it came straight outta an urban legend or email chain letter- so that just weirdend my experience, but I don't think it will deter me in the future. Just be aware that you may encounter something like that here. Other than that, yes, the store looks kind of like the one in the commercial. Clean, smells good, multiple ethnicities shopping, etc. Give it a go, if you're feeling adventurous.

I sort of love Fiesta and don't get over there as often as I should since I can't buy all my groceries there. But the stuff I do pick up when I am over here is great. The pineapple I purchased was cheaper and fresher than what I got a HEB. The produce can be a little hot or miss, but when its good, its really good. Also, I have found things here that I can also get at HEB, but for less money. I recently picked up some Mexican cokes (30 cents cheaper than HEB), Topo Chico, (Not sure of the price difference) and some Little Penguin wine (about a dollar cheaper than HEB). I need to put this in my regular rotation of grocery stores.

I'm a self-proclaimed foodie. I love finding new things to try. Fiesta is quite the place to do that. Those little things you can't find elsewhere, those things you never knew you needed. It's great. And cheap! Case in point: I picked up a package of fresh corn tortillas. I thought to myself, there's no way I could eat a package of 35 of those, though, before they go bad. Then I looked at the price and thought for 85 cents, it didn't really matter too much! I'm not able to get her often, but it really is an experience when I do go!

I really want to love Fiesta....and in fact, most of the time, I do. Affordable and diverse, it's always my go-to when I'm cooking for a large number of people, or when I want some delicious Honduran crema. BUT. A big but. I purchased a bag of crawfish from them recently for a boil. THANK GOODNESS I purchased 3 other bags from different sources, just in case Fiesta dropped the ball. And drop the ball they did. I picked out a bag while standing there at the seafood counter. I made sure to inspect it really well, poked it, making sure most of the bugs were alive. I even smelled it to make sure it didn't reek of death. The man behind the counter said I needed to go up front and pay, then he would send someone with my bag. Pretty sure he pulled the ol' switch-a-roo on me. The bag had a bad smell to it, but I was in a hurry and loaded it up. When it came time to cook the critters, 80% of them were dead. In summation, "Meh. I've experienced better."

Viva Fiesta! Their tortillas are so wonderful. You can go by the tortilla machine and pick up a package that's still warm. They have tons of staples for Latin-American cooking, like tomatillos, peppers, plantains, and so on. The international aisles are invariably fascinating, with items ranging from perplexing (Irish moss?) to PG-13 (Cock soup?). And the corn stand outside is to DIE for. Get some corn on the cob with butter, lime juice, and seasoned salt. Yum.

The Bad: The bakery person did not know what pita and flat bread are - and I am assuming they do not carry them. The bakery makes delicious looking cookies but does not list the ingredients. I asked a staff member for ingredients; she went to look for a list but came back and said she did not know and could not find a list. They do not carry bean sprouts (or my 15 minutes of searching were in vain). Staff are few and far between - but when you can find them, they are generally very helpful. Service Desk does not accept credit/debit cards - no bus pass for me. The Good: I discovered Pete's Wicked Ale, "Wanderlust Cream Ale" :D

Have to congratulate Fiesta South Austin for items that the other major chains in Austin aren't bothering to carry. Can't find your favorite "brand X" at HEB/Central Market/Whole Foods/Randalls any more? Try Fiesta.

For puns alone, this eclectic grocery and wedding shirt mart wins for the British Aisles. I go there for cheap fruit and veg, jars of Marmite and real Cadbury's chocolate. And Heinz baked beans and Indian cooking sauces. Personally, I don't dig on tripe, and some of the other unusual finds. But you know what? I'm glad they're there. Where else can you find Jaffa Cakes and Mince Pies in East Austin?

I went to Fiesta Mart during their grand opening at the new South Austin location. It really was a fiesta, with a band and everything! I was pretty impressed with their initial selection. Produce is certainly cheap, though organics aren't exactly common. There are a lot of things that I just don't care about organics, though. I bought a huge bag of tomatoes for about $1. There are two things I am very particular about organic, though, which I was not able to find at this location and ended up having to go to HEB anyways. Organic milk and freerange eggs would be nice if they could add it to their selection. The Latin-American selection of foods is pretty great. They had a large selection of Venezuelan Arepa flour, which was good to see. I could see coming back here for cheap produce and international ingredients that HEB doesn't carry, but other than that I'll stick with HEB for my normal milk, eggs, cereal and bread runs.

The staffs in the seafood kitchen are very kind with a lot of patience with communicating and translating including Lawrence!

It just occurred to me that I have never lived close by a Fiesta, next time I move I may need to look into this issue. Meanwhile, my sister lives very close to this one in Austin and when we come visit we buy our ingredients from them. This fiesta has everything and anything you may need... need a 50 inch TV? Worry not, there is a store inside this Fiesta that sells all kinds of electronics. I love that we can always find all the stuff we need there. Fiesta is my favorite supermarket in Austin and Houston because they carry a large selection of Hispanic products and that is perfect for me!

I moved south to 78745 just a little under a month ago and drive by this place practically daily. I never really had the desire to stop by since HEB has everything I need and it doesn't look like a festive colored flea market, however last nights mission was simple- MILK! So I park my car, exit vehicle, LOCK car (twice), and proceed toward the entry doors. Immediately upon entry I became a regular here. In fact for some things, I'll probably specifically come here for such as; 1. The freshest produce you'll ever see. HEB didn't have strawberries for the last 3 days...Fiesta had every F&*king fruit, nut, vegetable, and garnish you could imagine. 2. Meat- Again, it's fresh! If chicken is your thing then they sell a whopping 2 pounds of marinated fajita chicken already cooked right there for $10. I figured I could use it for salads, pastas, and after work out meals. Fiesta won't completely replace my need for a typical shopping experience but for bulk meats, fresh veggies, and quick supplies here and there...Fiesta you've earned my business!

I like Fiesta, I really do. They have a cool variety of stuff you can't find in your standard grocery store. When you find Ortega taco shells, soy sauce, and not much else in the "ethnic foods" aisle, it tends to be disappointing. I don't LOVE fiesta though. Their staff hasn't been all that helpful to me, and not particularly well-trained. For example, when I asked the butcher which meat she recommended for carne asada, her response was "what's carne asada?" Yeah. In the butcher section. Of Fiesta. In Texas.

It is interesting how reviewers in north Austin complained so much more than in the south. Part of it might be the S. Austin store is much newer, but I can't help suspecting that cliché opposition between fans of N. & S. Austin. Maybe I should ask some of my partisan friends just how far north (or south) is considered enemy territory? I have always mocked them for this, so I might get an angry exaggeration in reply. But having grown up in Seattle, I heard all this before. It made more sense to me at the time (jr. high, high school) that one might resent a residential area and its denizens for their perceived decadence (or poor neighborhoods thought of as 'ghettos'), but not halves of a medium-sized city. That said, I agree with a lot of the reviews of this location. Fiesta is much more than a Mexican and Latin grocery, The real draw for me is the international foods section. I really enjoy the Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani, N. African, Middle Eastern sections. As for the bakery person who didn't know what a pita is, just go to a Middle Eastern Bakery in the Hillcroft/Harwin area of Houston and ask them about empanadas.

Their food selections is very big, if you are looking for that specific ingredient and cannot find it no where else Fiesta is the place to look for. They carry lots of ethnics food beside Mexican. Prices are very low and well organize I must say. The Spices section are very cheap when you compare to other supermarket. I will be visiting this place more since it is located south now.

Ok, so maybe I'm biased since this is my local supermarket, but I really like shopping at Fiesta. Even with some over-priced items that I get for less at H-E-B, Walmart, Target, or Randalls, I still like it here. Ever since they overhauled it from the Albertson's that it used to be, it's a friendly place to shop. The staff are really personable and helpful, too. My favourite part of the store is the fresh fruit and veggies section followed by the "International" foods and tea aisles. The fruits and veggies always have more flavour and juiciness here than if I bought them somewhere else (OK, Whole Foods and Central Market are almost as good) and not having to go to another store for the foreign food items is a bonus! What's not to love? Other than that, they've got a really really really large tea selection...the only other aisle I've walked down and enjoyed as much is the H-E-B at Parmer and IH-35...maybe I don't get out that much? Anywho, the bolillos and french bread have my final vote for why I return again and again. Always fresh, always tasty, always warm. Mmmm!

I was looking for a molcajete for my Aunt who is as gringo as me, but a foodie nonetheless. And having grown up in South Texas, we do know how to make a decent tortilla! She and my husband scoured Austin one afternoon while she was visiting our beautiful city in search of one of these gadgets (aka a mortar and pestle). I was sure Fiesta would have one. I tried calling from work, but was passed from one department to the next and finally landed in eternal hold. No problem, I won't take a star for that. There was plenty of parking, the store smelled and looked clean, and a kind employee showed me where to find my Aunt's molcajete. Success! And the price was excellent $12.99 for one large enough to wear as a hat. Checkout was speedy, and the checker actually offered to carry it out to my car and helped my fine tune my pronuciation a bit (not molcajeta). I appreciated how quickly I was in and out of there, and my Aunt was really happy that I'd found just the right one for her. The next time I need a pinata, I'm coming back for their huge selection. I hear the tortillas are fresh, too.

Fiesta's THE place to get your foreign food in Austin. This is the South Austin store, which is new. Went there today and got my British baked beans and Marmite. GREAT seafood section where you can get swordfish, which for some reason isn't all that popular here. Really cheap shrimp (I eat tons of seafood so this is important to me...) Fruit and veg is all good and inexpensive. But really, the thing about Fiesta is the international aisles. Whether it's German or French, Spanish, British, Indian or West Indian, there's an aisle for you. All the obscure European candy or Trinidadian hair gel, Indian curry or Greek honey you might ever need. Go there. It's worth it just to wander round. And if it's something Mexican you need, you can't find a better place to shop.

This grocery store is the worst customer service experience I hv ever had! I live nearby and this is the second time I hv come to this store. The first time wasn't friendly either. The young lady at the register looked as if she was extremely angry and I said how are you doing today? I wanted to cheer her up. She snapped back What?! I let that alone. She double rang me on an item and I pointed it out to her and she behaved as though she resented it. She acted like it was painful to ring me up and when she finished she shoved the receipt in my hand and turned her back on me without even a thank you. I said, you have a nice day and she ignored me. Horrible experience! I feel as though I had been slimmed. Its hard to believe anyone would allow such a hateful person to represent their business. I'm going to smudge myself with sage when I get home. I'll never shop there again!
