It is a cute little tasting room, but they are in desperate need of staff. We went on a weekday when the weather was terrible (40s and rain), so it was definitely "off season," yet the place was crowded. There were two people working, but for a long stretch only the man behind the counter was helping any of the customers. We suspected the woman working didn't have authority to pour, but she ended up pouring for two ladies that came in next to us. They got perfect, attentive service, as she only served them, despite there being roughly 20 people up and down the bar, the other 18 under the care of the single other salesman, who looked visibly overworked and taxed. He was friendly enough, but it was clear he was just giving his typical speech before he sped on to someone else. The customer service (or lack thereof) definitely took something away from the experience. I got very little time with the man pouring, so it was hard to ask questions. Then, there were long pauses between pours. All in all, they need to work on their staffing.
The wines range across the board, from dry to sweet, but I noticed that even the "semi-sweet" wine I tried was pretty sweet for a wine. (I can't imagine the far end of the spectrum.) The sauvignon blanc was described to taste like a pina colada, which it kind of did... more like a melted pina colada slushie. I think it was very hit or miss. That said, there was one wine that knocked my socks off - their merlot is incredible! It is a bit on the pricier end, but it is a really delicious merlot with a cherry nose and finish, which was really pleasant to drink.
They offer a free glass with your tasting, which is nice, but contrary to every wine tasting I've done (and I confess to have done a lot in several states and even internationally), they only waive the tasting fee with the purchase of THREE bottles! So, if you want just one bottle and a tasting, that could run you $50 with the tip added in. The merlot maybe deserved that, but not when combined with everything else going on, unfortunately.
Also, take heed they do not have bathrooms, even for patrons. I know that upset some people.
