My friend and I ordered “Wagyu and Caviar Skewers” $41 that came with gold, and honestly, the meat was absolutely delicious. My martini was just okay. However, I wasn’t impressed with the service. When I arrived no one greeted me. I stood there looking around, but no one seemed to notice or offer help. I approached the bar and told a staff member I had a reservation and wanted to be seated. He directed me somewhere outside the bar, and when I asked why—since I had a reservation inside—he apologized and said he thought I was asking for the restroom. It wasn’t a huge deal, but the staff at the bar looked noticeably stressed. Come on, people go there to relax—give the staff the support they need so they can be happier at work. Overall, the atmosphere felt a bit off, maybe a 3 out of 5.

Google
Great bar in San Diego! The bartender made amazing cocktails, and the staff surprised my friend with a dessert and champagne for her birthday. Really nice touch – highly recommend!

Google
Allegedly, even years later I still remember watching football here on the black and white TVs with my friends from out of state and acting like it was normal for San Diego. I cannot confirm if the TVs are still there because I may have recalled that last time they were gone. Bless their heart. Regardless, highly recommend for anywhere upscale. Staff was always nice here too, and it’s a great place to take half dozen shots before an adventure, allegedly.

Google
Didn't like the taste of their cocktails that much but they looked good. The Scotch were much better. Place was intimate with a lively atmosphere. If room is tight there's seating in Pendry, which is where the restrooms are. If coming from the harbor, this would be a nice place to kick it off before heading farther down Fifth. And again on the way back.

Google
Great place with really good cocktails. Each drink was created by someone who works there, so it's fun to order a drink from the person who created it ave task to them about it. Fancy place with good appetizers. Clean and the staff is really friendly.

I decided to stop in here because of the featured photo on Google. The picture was of the Mad Hatter cocktail, which is an egg white cocktail with an Earl Grey infused vodka (if my memory serves me correctly). Well sadly it was not available, BUT that's actually good news it means this place has a dynamic cocktail menu! The team every season comes up with new cocktails which gets funnelled into the menu. You can see below the drink name the bartender that designed the cocktail. To me this is a key indicator of a good establishment. The bartenders here are fantastic. Josh and Brennon were originally my bartenders. They are able to basically make you anything, one of the few places that knew what a clover club was without me having to explain. They have a fantastic cocktail list, but sadly I was craving an egg white so I had to go off script. The atmosphere at fifth and rose is elegant yet modern. A very comfortable clean establishment that provides class. If you're into a craft cocktail Fifth & Rose is the place, in the Gaslamp District, you should stop into!

Google
Great cocktails right in the Gaslamp area. The atmosphere really depends on the night but regardless you’ll get great service and the bartenders are doing some fantastic work. This is a place you stop in for a drink date or to regroup. It might not be the party stop but it doesn’t miss when it comes to cocktails.

Google
The Fifth and Rose is always a delight - and not what you would expect in this area of town, with all the typical beer and restos catering to the baseball crowd (I mean no offence, not what one would expect). Been coming to SD for visits, and something is refreshing hanging out here on a sunny day in the spring. The cocktails are simple and fit the mood and atmosphere of the interior and the freshness of the outdoor/indoor connection. The drink with Shiso could have been punchier (with more Shiso infusion). Recommend dropping in any time of day, but mainly early afternoon, for refreshment when it's not too busy - or late at night when the ambiance really shines.

Yelp
We came in this place on a weeknight evening and it was very crowded. A great vibe with subtle music, cute decor and dim lighting - perfect spot for a date night cocktail. We ordered two espresso martinis - they were good and freshly made. They had a little bit of a fruity taste to them, but good foam ratio. Would love to come back and try some other cocktails, but it is a little pricey for the small drink!

Yelp
3.5/5 overall: We ordered three cocktails and two appetizers, total without tip came out to $99. I'd recommend this bar to start or end the night with friends or a cozy date night away from the outside buzz of Gaslamp District. Inside decor is intimate and luxurious, and the drinks are sweet. We ordered the crab egg rolls (2) and truffle fries that were good as leftovers. Staff checked in once to take our order, doubled back to see if we wanted more drinks, but otherwise had to call for our check. The drinks came out quickly, but our apps came out after ~20 minutes.

Yelp
We have popped into this bar several times before in the gaslamp area at the Pendry Hotel- sometimes this bar is empty and other times it is jammed with hotel guest, convention visitors and locals. This night the bar was slammed with only one bartender and a bar back. I felt sorry for the bartender as he was not only serving those directly at the bar but also fixing drinks for those at the tables. Too much for one to handle. And many of their drinks are complex. Despite the rush of people, the bartender still made solid drinks and provided the best service possible. What is expected of this caliber of a bar and the price of drinks that average around 20 dollars in an upscale location. We would come back to this location, during quieter times that we could relax with our cocktails.

Yelp
This is one of the most gorgeous cocktails I have ever enjoyed! My group stopped into Fifth & Rose before our dinner reservations down the street, and I was very impressed at the quality of the cocktails, elegant ambiance, and the quick service. The drinks were on the pricier side, but I found it well worth it for the entire experience. I loved the garnishes on my tequila-based cocktail with notes of hibiscus. Worth a try!

Yelp
Great ambiance, Customer Service is Great. Great wine list, nice showing of Daou Vineyards. I'm trying the Georgia Stampede is fantastic. It's their take on a Mint Julep with a little heat. Only Con is, we couldn't Valet and we were spending money in 2 of their properties

Yelp
This is a perfect place to start your night with one of their specialty cocktails. It's a great location and provides for a perfect corner spot to people watch. Katie and Trevor provided the best service ever! The cocktails were perfection! Thank you so much!

Yelp
Located in the Pendry Hotel lobby this gem is the place to go for a yummy drink and a little snack. The drinks were made perfectly and the bartender was very attentive. We had some time before dinner, so we decided to get a little some to munch on and the Truffle fries did the trick. Crispy with right amount of seasoning and the truffle wasn't overwhelming. So if you're ever in the area stop by, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Good selection of Cocktails. There were both indoor & outdoor spaces. Also a live dj on Saturday night, vibrant scene.

Yelp
Love the bar, the staff is friendly, met some amazing people here. Will definitely return

Yelp
The cocktails were amazing and the service was very good! Good for large groups, they have plenty of lounge seating.

Yelp
Before heading into a recent Padres game we decided to grab a drink or two outside of the ballpark and landed on Fifth & Rose which is within the Pendry hotel. They have lots of bar seating along with some lounge seating around the bar, it isn't very large but it wasn't too crowded before the game which was nice and a quieter bar compared to others in the area before Padres game. Austin was our bartender and was very attentive and was able to whip up some fun mixed shots to get us going before the game which was nice. We knew we wanted some sort of shot but really didn't know what to ask for and he knew just the correct thing to make. I went with an espresso martini for my actual drink which was perfection! I will be back again soon for some pre Padre drinks!

Yelp
Dope little cocktail bar in the Gaslamp! The DJ gets the "keep the party going" award, he was wonderful on a beautiful Saturday night! We had our favorite espresso martinis and a Beyond burger Burger. Delicious garlic aioli to dip the fries! Definitely worth a visit ;-)

Yelp
Visited on Friday afternoon, and our server Brandon (I think that was his name) was great! Made exceptional drinks. We ordered 4 different ones and enjoyed them all, especially the Vesper. We always visit this place on our trips to Gaslamp but this was our first time in the afternoon, so it was nice to see it a bit more quiet.

Papí C.

Yelp
I wish I took a picture of all the food that I ate, but it was absolutely bomb. we truly enjoyed our plates and got all different things. The drinks are definitely on the stronger side, so you won't be disappointed if you're someone that's looking to feel a little something. Shoutout to our waiter Juan who delivered the best service and personality. we were only stopping waiting for train to come, but he made this a very enjoyable experience.

Yelp
We happen to stumble upon this gorgeous bar. Being from out of town, we got lucky. We had phenomenal service and the drinks were to die for. Beautiful bar, bathrooms are amazing. We had such a great time we came back the next night for dinner.

Yelp
Stopped in for drinks while staying at the Pendry and so glad we did. We got the little leaguer cocktail, an old fashioned and the crab dip. Both cocktails were delicious but the little leaguer was so fun! The crab dip was delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall we had a great time even though it was short and I'd like to return soon!

Yelp
Typical bar. I wish the drinks had more originality. You're gonna pay more for what you can get at a pub.

Yelp
My fiancé & I went last weekend & sat with Trevor. He was so awesome! We had to go back twice to chat with him. Great drinks & even better customer service. Thank you Trevor!!! You're the best bartender!

Nice place to stop in and have drinks ~ If your in the gas lamp quarters you'll be glad you did ~

Yelp
We popped in here for drinks and apps at the bar during comic con and It was fantastic. We just ordered a vodka drink and some hummus. So good! Would love to come back to try more things.

Yelp
Drinks and ambience are amazing. Trevor is a fantastic bartender and has the best drinks on the menu! Truly impressed with the "Rise and Shine" chamomile infused gin cocktail. 10/10

Yelp
Brennon and Jason are the best bartenders!! Made the best drinks, their craft cocktails are unique and amazing! Best espresso martini in downtown

Yelp
We popped in for late night dessert and cocktails and wow they were packed. We were a little unclear of how to be seated. The hostesses are away from the front quite often so while we waited at the stand others just walked straight into the bar. We still aren't clear on what their system is. The hostess did come back and we were seated immediately outside. We each ordered a tequila cream soda cocktail. My friend liked hers but I could not stand it. Our waitress was AMAZING. I hate complaining, but for $20 I didn't want to drink something I hated. She took it off our check and recommended I have a cucumber gin instead. So good. We also ordered the macaroon flight. It was good, not great. They serve them on a plate of raw sugar that sticks to the cookies and takes away from the flavor a bit.
google avatar

Akari L.

Yelp
Unimpressed. Drinks were meh. No service at all; our waitress took FOREVER to even get our check back, not to say how long it took to get our drinks. And they have the face to charge 20% service fee. Definitely not coming back again.
google avatar

Yelp
So we ended up here after Lumi. The experience of eating out during covid is really different. We were sat far away from people, which is what I prefer lol. I didn't want to drink but I came out of the bathroom and there were drinks flowing lol. We told the waitress it was my friend's birthday and Lumi didn't get her a dessert. So sweet she came out with a cake and a candle for her. I enjoyed just hanging out here, didn't feel like we were being rushed. We had more drinks than pictured. But wanted to review due to great service . Our waitress Denice, she has red/maroon hair, she was so sweet and always checked on us. She's so great!!

Yelp
Located at the Pendry hotel in downtown SD, this is one of a few eateries on property, but more of the bar/lounge area. Came here on a Wednesday night, the day after Valentine's Day for my Palentine's date with my coworker. We already had a dinner meal at another location but it wasn't what we expected so being that the night was still young and we still wanted to hang out, we tried Fifth & Rose for their signature cocktails and overall, it was packed and crowed at the bar and lounge tables but we found a spot. It was about and hour or so until closing so service was quick and we were asked by server if we needed anything for last call before the bar closed up. I didn't know however that we were going to be asked to leave the bar area when we had just finished paying and we're trying to still finish up our drinks and food. It seemed like we were being rushed out of there. I am hoping to try again with the Provisional Kitchen place for their brunch because that menu looks great and the dining area really beautiful as well.

Yelp
The place was exceptional. Most impressive was our Server. She was pleasant, friendly, attentive & very nice. Ambience was superb, music was great, overall an amazing place. Food tasted perfect. You can take your date for a fun night or just friends for cocktails & chat. I took my daughter there for her pre birthday cocktails & I'm so glad I chose this place. Definitely going back again.

Yelp
Not worth it. The bar itself is beautiful and attractive which is what drew me in for some reason aside from an article I read on eatry. I worked in hospitality for years so I know the expectation of service that is standard for employees, especially for a luxury Montage Intl. property. First off staff working during my visit was not warm or engaging. Took a moment for us to be welcomed. Not much eye contact going on here. Customer service is lacking. Tables weren't clean and the bar needed a wipe down. Our drinks were made quick. I will say that our cocktails were absolutely not worth it. I know cocktail prices are higher at a resort than a bar or restaurant off property, however, the quality of the drink did not match the price tag. It was watered down and I simply didn't enjoy it. The watered down drink was instantly noticed after one sip and I'm usually not one to pay much attention to these things. Maybe order a beer or wine or head down to another spot.

Yelp
This bar is one of the handful of concepts that are part of the Pendry hotel along with Nason's, Lionfish, Provinsial, Pool House, and Oxford Social. At night the crowd is an interesting mix of hotel guests and those waiting to get into the clubs nearby like Oxford and Omnia. Conference goers combined with birthday/bachelor(ette) parties and other just out in Gaslamp. Makes for some good people watching. It is street level and has a small patio so the people watching gets even more interesting out there. We had two regular quality (nothing exciting) glasses of wine each and the bill was over $70 so it isn't cheap. A little in the high side for the quality but it is a hotel bar and I expect higher prices at hotels.
google avatar

Bec R.

Yelp
Love this bar for a few drinks - cocktails aren't cheap but they are really good and it's one of the nicer classier bars in the gaslamp .
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Fifth & Rose is one of the nicer bars in the Gas lamp, sitting adjacent/in the lobby of the Pendry. But that is all there is to it. Bartenders pretend they're better than everyone else who can't be bothered with. Our group had so much trouble trying to squeeze through the bar and flag down the bartenders to get a drink. Total lack of customer service. If they made a mean cocktail, some may be foregiven, but at $20 a drink, but they were mediocre at best. Save your money and head over to the other bars in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Lucky they get a 2. Horrible service. Drink was so sweet absolutely no vodka. Definitely would not recommend this place. Very disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for intimate yet upscale cocktails! I got the Smoke and Mirrors; if you like Oaxacan Old Fashioned drinks, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Dennis L.

Yelp
Wide selection of drinks. You can sit outside and people watch. Very interesting folks in the gaslamp district! The drinks here aren't cheap. Ordered a violet alchy drink and a lavender alchy drink. Sorry, I don't remember the full names. They were fruity and good. Downfall? Freakin expensive. Paid $18 and $16 plus tax and tip so almost $40 for just two drinks. Jeebus!! Oh well. A bit pricey for me but the service was good. Right below the pendry hotel where I was staying so I had to try this place. Always ask the server for their thoughts on drinks. It'll help with ur selection.
google avatar

Sydney L.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a couple drinks! Talented and knowledgeable bartenders! The cocktails are created and handcrafted personally! Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
The vibe at this spot is great! A caipirinha + gaslamp = great time Gotta try this place again next time I'm in town

Yelp
What a creative cocktail menu! The drinks were excellent! They clearly spent a lot of time to create each one of these masterpieces - delicate flavors combined with exact portions - give you a unique experience in each sip. Located in the Gaslamp Quarter in the Pendry hotel on the corner of the block this place is swanky and cool. Dimmed lighting and shiny floors, this place has a modern, sleek look. (It's open til 1am daily). They have around a dozen Signature Drinks - this is a must- don't waste your time with wine and a vodka/tonic, take that crap elsewhere. You came here for a drink experience and you better try those signature drinks (besides they are pretty pricey so you want to get what they're known for)!! Their drink menu changes depending on the season. It truly is an experience in the texture, smell, and taste. I had the Magnolia - bourbon, pumpkin spice, vanilla bean honey, and espresso! What a burst of flavor! No ingredient was overpowering it all worked together perfectly! I wish I had an opportunity to try more drinks (like the Black Maple and White Fir) but, alas, I was on a tight schedule. Next time, Fifth and Rose!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for a new cocktail bar, so we decided to try Fifth and Rose and sadly judging by the review it was very disappointing. The ambience was beautiful and acutally everything looked better in the yelp/google pictures, and cocktail server was nice, but subpar service The bar/cocktail lounge was very slow. We sat at a table for 10 minutes before we were even greeted by a server. (Mind you we were the only two people in the cocktail area they had 1 or 2 bartenders and 2 cocktail servers. Being a former bartender and cocktail server in fine-dining and sports bars that would never fly). The drinks were okay, reluctantly we ordered food- the pork belly bao bun. (where is the emoji vomit face when you need it) I'm actually embarrassed for the chef that serves this food item- the chef added a tiny fatty strip of pork, applied a disgusting chili paste (i think), which can only be described as a mixture of chamoy ( the sauce that families and kids sell on the Mexican border) at least the is better quality. And a sprinkle of BAR NUTS!!!! WHAT???!!! I was in dismay. Street food is better than what we were served. The disappointing part was I only took one bite spit out the rest, and set my plate off to the side, my BF took two small bites and set if off to the side 9 he usually finishes his meal regardless of taste)- THE SERVER didn't even blink an eye or ask us how our food was or IF THERE was anything wrong she just took our plates and brought the check this is my first 1 star review. I dislike writing this, but was very disappointed given the fact this is a 4.5 star hotel.

Yelp
This bar is too cute. Maria was so pleasant and she also suggested drinks for us to try. I wasn't happy with one I ordered but she was so quick to suggest another one that I would be sure to enjoy. The place was a nice size and you can sit anywhere. The drink presentations were so cool. Super fancy and just right for a place to stop and sip before dinner. The restroom was also very large, clean, and very nice. For me, this matters.
google avatar

Mel D.

Yelp
Small place but very upscale and classy style. Cocktails are pretty expensive so maybe just have one before you visit another spot. It's in a great location so you're in the middle of the bustle of the night life.

Teri M.

Yelp
Drinks are tasty and bar staff seem friendly. It feels like a pop up because it's so small. Cool place to grab a drink with a friend.
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
We've been eyeballing this location for a while. Now that its comic con, its in full swing with the Comic themed drinks! We opted for the Professor X drinks. The drinks were nice and strong! This had Vodka, Cumcumber, Lime, honey and of course our favorite Moet!!! Look at how they give you your receipt, in a book! Kids, a book is something we used to enjoy before Steve Jobs came into our lives :) We encountered a friendly bartender and our server Nicole was awesome. We will be back! @ Michael, please thank the staff for the hospitality they showed. it was my Birthday and this was our last stop. Thanks, we will back back soon!
google avatar

Mandy N.

Yelp
Great hotel bar! Esteban was a great bartender and knew cocktails like the painkiller without looking them up, and made them really tasty! It's definitely loud and the crowd is ~trendy~ but I would say typical hotel bar with a little bit of a clubby vibe thrown in. For example, there was a DJ there one of the nights that we visited. Service was quick and they are good at keeping an eye on people waiting for drinks.
google avatar

Roshni S.

Yelp
Loved the vibe, the service and the delicious drinks. Not much else to say, its pricey but the attention to details makes it feel like a worthy experience.

Yelp
I had the very unfortunate experience of having a dog seated at the bar and another on the floor as I tried to have drinks. Being a dog lover is fine, but the law clearly forbids non-service animals from being indoors. That's to avoid dog hair from going into neighboring patrons food and drinks. The whole fiasco was so off-putting that I simply paid and left. Getting only two (2) drinks. I didn't make a scene, but I thought me bringing it to the attention of management would be welcomed. It wasn't. Not only did they not do anything about the situation, I had to call five (5) times before I reached someone that had apparent authority. Nevertheless, there was no follow-up and my concerns were brushed off. If you're going to call yourself a "luxury" hotel, you should, at minimum, adhere to health and safety laws. I'm sure the next patron sitting in those seats weren't made aware that a 50 pound pitbull was just in that seat and fed dog treats at the bar. In the era of a worldwide pandemic, you would think there'd be more attention paid to the potential for viruses, but that's apparently not a focus at the Pendry.
google avatar

Mario M.

Yelp
Very pretty bar, nice atmosphere. That being said, drinks where watery, I had the fire and ice. Also, very expensive $20 a cocktail, not worth it. Walk down the street to j & Tony's wayyyyy better.
google avatar

Dalia L.

Yelp
The food was just ok. Not a place to go to to get your mind blown by food. The caviar did not live up to its cost. The burger was dry and just ok. We were on the smaller side where the bar is not in the main restaurant. The service was subpar. Both times I have been here the cocktail waitresses were nice and friendly but don't really double check on you. She asked for a card to hold on to even though we weren't technically seated at the bar which I thought was different but didn't mind except when we asked for the check she didn't bring the check she just charged it to my card without asking. This made it complicated for me because I was going to split it with my friend. The ambiance was probably the best part. It's also a really beautiful building. This place works for cocktails.
