I stayed at the hotel recently and got breakfast every morning during my stay and had dinner twice. The food was very flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed the avocado toast and lemon garlic shrimp. If I got room service or sat at the bar, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Don’t overlook Figleaf for breakfast. Located within Hotel Zena, it’s a bright, colorful yet relaxed spot for coffee, pastries or something heartier.

It’s good atmosphere bar lounge. I was really surprised to the cocktail because there is raw egg inside. It’s little too sweet for me but I enjoyed it after offering lime.

This place is amazing! The food was beautifully put together and so delicious. They use real ingredients! Not the kind that makes you feel lethargic and tired after you eat it. The service was also really good. The waiters and waitresses are very knowledgeable about the menu and kind. We had bottomless mamosa’s and espresso martini’s. Chefs kiss!! My first experience there was definitely satisfying. I look forward to going back.

We are in town for a conference. When we walked in, we were greeted by well-dressed staff and felt a bit underdressed at first. They quickly put us at ease and made us feel welcome. One of our party wanted some wine and explained the palette she wanted and was provided with two options to sample. The menu was thoroughly explained to us. Our food did not disappoint. It was colorful, flavorful, and very filling. Matt, Gabby, and Austin were friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional.

This was very unexpected , all the food was delicious and I'm very particular about my eggs( can't eat regular eggs, so I was very happy with the pastured eggs and chicken sauages) , I guess I haven't traveled in a while , I dont agree in restaurants making you pay a 18 to 20 percent gratuity, that should be left up to the customers. We enjoyed the spot, everyone was very attentive and definitely the kids enjoyed the French toast and bacon. Later in the evening we purchased 2 different desserts to try, the experience for them trying something new was nice.

We had breakfast at the fig leaf while it’s staying at the Zena Hotel! The food was so much better than most any other hotel breakfasts! I had the avocado toast and a smoothie and both were so packed with flavor! It also felt so much fresher than most breakfasts you can get at a hotel. It was a bit on the pricier side, but I had a credit I was able to use. The staff was friendly and overall for a hotel breakfast, I’d recommend.

Amazing breakfast! Food was fresh and flavorful and hands-down the best avocado toast I’ve ever had. The coffee was superb and we’ll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Nestled away in the heart of DC, Fig Leaf Restaurant proved to be a delightful surprise for my Saturday brunch outing. Despite the city's bustling energy, the restaurant was surprisingly serene, offering a peaceful escape from the urban rush. Upon perusing the menu, I opted for the paprika shrimp, a choice I certainly didn't regret. The dish was a symphony of flavors, with the succulent shrimp complemented by the peppery arugula and creamy grits. Each bite was a delightful exploration of taste, leaving me eager to return for another round. In addition to the savory delight of the paprika shrimp, I indulged in the French toast, which was nothing short of heavenly. The perfect balance of sweetness and texture made each bite a culinary delight, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. To accompany my meal, I ordered a cup of hot tea, which not only warmed me on this crisp Saturday afternoon but also added a charming touch to the overall experience. Despite the restaurant's serene ambiance, I was surprised by the lack of patrons for a Saturday afternoon. However, this only added to the intimate atmosphere, allowing for prompt and attentive service. Overall, my experience at Fig Leaf Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the delectable dishes to the tranquil setting and swift service, it's a hidden gem that I'll certainly be returning to. If you're in search of a delightful brunch spot in DC, look no further than Fig Leaf Restaurant.

Yelp
located inside hotel Zena, really hip modern American restaurant. The food (burgers) was in good portion and tasted really good but I felt like the cocktails were a lot for $17. The service was good and our food came out quickly.

Yelp
Went for dinner as I was staying at the Zena Hotel in which it's located. I got a burger wrapped in lettuce and fries. The food was good... I ordered breakfast the next morning and was pleasantly pleased. The flavors were robust and everything was cooked perfectly! The venue is chic and modern... it's quiet... not many people were there on a Saturday evening, so I would say this is a great date night, especially with the artistic decor and games, such as a pool table! Go enjoy yourselves

Yelp
I came here for a networking event and I ordered the greens salad which was bomb! It was so fresh and that pomegranate vinaigrette was tasty and lemony. The staff was so kind and accommodating. The design of the restaurant was also so pretty! I loved the women empowerment buttons everywhere.

Yelp
The food was very delicious!!! I'm hungry just thinking about it lol. The service was really warm and friendly. The food came out quick which was perfect since we had a full day in front of us! The ambiance was calm, relaxing and perfect for us while talking. Highly recommend! We also had a late night snack during an event that was happening in the restaurant. Despite it being busy the food came out quick. The Chicken Wings and "Not your Mom's Chocolate Cake" was all delicious!!

Yelp
Just had a fabulous dinner at Figleaf Bar and Lounge, in the lobby of the Hotel Zena. First off, the place is fabulous... and a glorious homage to strong women. The atmosphere is beautiful, and I absolutely loved the art work of Notorious RBG, made out of tampons and bullets. My BFF Kate and I had a multicourse dinner tonight and it was delicious. They've just launched a new menu, and we loved it. Some of our favorites were: - Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Cream Cheese, Goat Cheese,Chorizo, Bacon, Red Wine Gastrique -Grilled Head on Prawns, Brassicas, Blistered Tomatoes, Aji Amaraillo -Yucca Gnocchi, Braised Oxtail, Hen of the Woods, Adobo Brado, Dandelion, Smoked Peppercorn SO YUMMY! We got to meet GM, Matt, who was friendly and kind... and we particularly loved our waiter DOUG! He is great! Next time you're there, ask for Doug!

Yelp
If you're looking for a brunch spot with delicious food, this is the place to go! Very unassuming place, love the decor and the concept behind the aesthetics as well. I enjoyed my cocktail as well as the shrimp and grits! I also tried some of the burger and fries and they were tasty. Great spot, our entire group really enjoyed the food. Service was a bit rushed, but that would be my only qualm.

Yelp
Visiting here is a treat. The bar is located inside Hotel Zena. If you are only visiting the bar, parking is nearly $20. I was in the last group to leave because we were having so much fun. Figleaf prepared wonderful bites for an event I attended. The bartenders were nice. The lounge has comfy chairs and couches. Charge your phones for all the selfies you will take while visiting. You can see a great mural of RGB near the pool table. There are hundreds of buttons hanging around the venue (don't lean on them as it isn't an actual wall). This is a wonderful event space or place to catch up with friends. Metro is nearby. Bonus points for the fun gift shop.

Yelp
Delicious meal and great service. Gnocchi was a big hit! And check out the artistic tributes to RBG!

Yelp
I went here a few months ago for a working brunch, where we were planning our upcoming trip. This is inside of a hotel on the main level and also has a rooftop (although not open when I went). The place is really cute inside - it was bright and had some artwork. There weren't many people there so the service was good - we were there for several hours and didn't feel rushed. We all got breakfast food and mimosas and it was good.

Yelp
Ya know my meal here was so delicious I have to go back to try it again, just to make sure! I met friends for brunch and thank goodness for their valet! I initially walked in and thought it smelled funny in there but the mimosa bar soon distracted me. How often are we able to make our own Mimosas! The smoked salmon croque Madame I ordered was absolutely amazing! My friends however said they were underwhelmed with their orders. I will note that the atmosphere was perfect for catching up with old friends. Great music but not too loud! Comfy chairs and ambiance. Can't quite recall the customer service being all that endearing but I do remember that smoked salmon croque Madame! And for that reason, I shall be back!

Yelp
Figleaf is a to-go when you are in need of an amazing cocktail after a long day of work. Personally, Nana's Manhattan is my favorite. If you are feeling snack-ish, I recommend the grilled shrimp or croquettes. My sweet tooth must is the Turkish coffee cake. The team taking care of you is very attentive, especially the manager Matt. He checked in on us to make sure everything was perfect. Figleaf is in Hotel Zena, so the space has so much artwork to look at while enjoying your cocktail.

Omari A.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful time at Figleaf, and Hotel Zena, what a beautiful property-LOVED all of the original artwork in the lobby. Where do I start, not only were the happy hour specials amazing, you have to get the chicken sandwich. The cocktails and dinner was great as well! The Gnocchi and Green Salad are must tries, and they paired perfectly with my Penicillin cocktail. Both the hotel and bar staff were super attentive to every detail and friendly. If you are in DC make sure you stop at Hotel Zana and experience Figleaf. It is a unique experience unlike any other I've had in the city, definitely a great place to enjoy with friends and family.

Yelp
It was good solid flavor. The salmon was good well and super flavorful. I loved the cauliflower mash and appreciated having such a healthy option. The environment is really fun and super girl powered. We went for a bridal shower due to the rooftop pool, fun suites, and unique vibe. I don't think I'll seek it out again even if in the area due to sooo many options there but if you're staying at the hotel it's solid.

Yelp
I've been to Figleaf for brunch a few times and for light bites at dinnertime. The drinks are always perfect, their herbed fries are addictive, and the ambiance cannot be matched as you'll be surrounded by original pieces of art. Returning for brunch again soon!

Makenna B.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant and it was mostly empty. We asked for a table and the host said there was no tables available. I thought that was weird because I saw there tables available on open table before we got there. So we sat at the bar and booked a table on open table. Told the host and we were seated. It also took a while before the waitress showed up (10+ minutes). We weren't sure if we were supposed to order from the bar or not before the waitress showed up. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich and there was barely any chicken. It was mostly fried batter. The only thing this place has going for it was the fries and the decor.
google avatar

Andy H.

Yelp
The chicken sandwich is to die for! Great portion size and flavor. We also got the shrimp and cauliflower dishes. Both were amazing and the cauliflower and the sauce were perfect. The staff was friendly and awesome. Great ambience and RBG and cat sculptures.

Vijay K.

Yelp
Service not as advertised. Some items on an already short menu were not available. Slow service and poor ambiance for dinner. Bartender could not tell types of available scotches. Will not be going back.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite spots! Bingo night is aways fun, the ladies do an amazing job hosting. Jemma (spell check) is the best!! Tell her I sent you.

Yelp
Have to try this place out guysss! Food was so gooddddd. I didn't expect it could be that good. Interior design is perfect. The place looks so fancy but prices are not expensive at all. Pretty quiet here, good for a date. Service is perfect. I can't remember the bartender name but he was so nice and professional.

Jeanetta N.

Yelp
So we had reservations for the place. We walked in and the ambiance was nice so we just kind of just waited for someone to greet us. No one ever said so much as hello. So I asked if we just seat ourselves and the bartender just looked up and said yes. What's the point of a reservation if you walk-in and seat yourself. Being new to the place you would think someone would explain what's going on. We sat and scanned the QR code on the tables only to see there were limited brunch options. After waiting for about 10 minutes without any attention not even a glass of water we decided to leave.

Yelp
Figleaf was the highly of our winter in DC. The girl power vibes, the beautiful assortment of cocktail, and the TASTY chicken sandwich can't be beat. This is the PERFECT place to have a girls night or treat yourself to a self care date. Couldn't recommend this place more, and if you visit, do yourself a favor and get the chicken sandwich. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Figleaf opened in the Fall of 2020 and is already becoming a must try spot in DC. The food and cocktails are equally delicious and the menu offerings are top notch.

Yelp
Food is pretty good, we only tried a couple dishes so I'd have to come again and try more. But these drinks! I am a fiend for complicated cocktails and the Toastess with the Mostest featured a sweet potato shrub and marshmallow syrup. Not sickeningly sweet as you might fear but had a really good depth of flavor instead. I have three or four more cocktails to try on their list and will be back. Great vibe, of course. The free girl power pins were a cute touch.

Jessic B.

Yelp
I came to this lounge for a small gathering with friends. There were ONLY 2 other tables that were getting serviced and assisted (with no issues), however, we had to wait over an hour, just to order drinks. When we ordered food, the wait was so long, some of the guests were ready to leave. The bartender was extremly rude to all of us, but the icing on the cake was when he questioned my friend for no reason. My friend was speaking to another guest as they were leaving. The bartender then rushed to my friend and asked what did she say to her in a sharp tone. This made her very uncomfortable during the remainder of the stay. I felt like the waitress tried her best to accomadate us towards the end, but the damage was done. No one apoligized for the behavior or the wait. I beleieve the manager should have came out and offer an apoligy to everyone for the issues we had the entire night.

Yelp
I hadn't been here or even heard of it prior to visiting for dinner. I chose this restaurant simply because they had a reservation at the time I needed. I thought I'd take a chance and see how it went. It went VERY well!!! The drinks were delicious and the food was excellent!!! We had the Moqueca Mista, which was a special dish selected for the Valentines Day menu. It should be a permanent part of the menu as everyone should have the opportunity to try it and I'd like to have it again as well :). I highly recommend this restaurant/bar I'd you're looking for a new spot to check out. The ambiance with all the art and sculptures also make for a great backdrop.

Yelp
Went for the first time with a group of friends last night. It was not busy. The guy who served us was INSANELY hostile towards us, immediately making us feel unwelcome. He didn't even say anything to us when he brought some water to our table. Then he was practically yelling at my friend for asking what Shock Top tastes like because apparently he has never carried Shock Top and he has no idea where we got the idea he has Shock Top..... but Shock Top is literally listed on their very short beer menu, and when we told him that he didn't even apologize or say anything, just stared at us. My other friend asked about what a couple of their cocktails were like, and he goes "what do you mean, what are they like?" Then after ordering he asks us all for IDs, which is all good, but even doing that was like a tense and hostile energy. He was just rude all night. Not interested in coming back here.

Kindra T.

Yelp
This place is beautiful but the service is the worst. The bartender was rude and very disrespectful. He did not want to serve us or bring our food out. I waited 1 hour to order. Someone in my party ordered grill shrimp and wanted 2 hours for the food. DO NOT EAT HERE.
