The Best Italian Restaurants In Little Italy

"There’s no shortage of gelato in Little Italy, but everything served at Figo Il Gelato Italiano (also in Astoria and Greenwich Village) is especially creamy and vivid. More unique offerings include the Figo—with caramelized figs and a cheesy ricotta complexity—but we can’t resist the classics, like chocolate hazelnut with Ferrero Rocher chunks either. Go ahead and treat yourself to a pistachio cone or a cup of the bright, vegan mango if you need a cold treat in the area. There's no indoor seating in the small, cheerful storefront, but your gelato will taste best if you enjoy it while taking a people-watching stroll down Mulberry Street anyway." - molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, bryan kim

Figo Il Gelato Italiano - Review - Nolita - New York - The Infatuation

"Figo Il Gelato Italiano serves creamy, vividly flavorful gelato on the border of Little Italy and Nolita. This flagship location of an NYC mini-chain (also in Astoria and Greenwich Village) has a small storefront in cheerful shades of green, with friendly staff who, yes, are sure they don’t mind if you try yet another sample. There are unique flavors on offer here—like the eponymous Figo, with caramelized figs and a cheesy ricotta complexity—and you can even order your gelato served in a warm brioche bun. We can’t resist the classics, like chocolate hazelnut with Ferrero Rocher chunks, either. You don't need to go out of your way for this gelato, but if you’re in the neighborhood, treat yourself to a pistachio cone, or a cup of the bright, vegan mango. There are only a few small tables outside, but your gelato will taste better if you enjoy it while taking a people-watching stroll down Mulberry Street anyway. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Molly Fitzpatrick

On the Grid : M'o Gelato

"Nothing but good things to say about this lovely little gelato shop right outside Little Italy. M'o Gelato emphasizes their reduced fat products which fit in seamlessly with our healthy living company themes and takes the guilt out of eating dairy-filled treats. Authentic gelato that takes you back to Italy, where the mint chocolate chip isn't artificially colored green and the treats are exclusive. We'd recommend the hot panino with frozen Nutella gelato." - Barrel

This is the best gelato I’ve ever had. Dubai Kunafa Chocolate is to die for. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing on a lot I tell you. Also ordered coffee flavour and ferrero rocher. Both were good too but dubai chocolate was the star of the show!

Alisha B

Google
Clean small cute gelato shop. Staff was extremely kind. Let me try out a sample. Got half Ferrero and half Dubai chocolate. Both was smooth, rich, and flavorful. Got a cannoli as well but that I didn’t like. Didn’t hit and wasn’t sweet nor tasted like anything in my opinion. This place is known for their gelato and they delivered that. My friend got a regular 1 scoop cone. So 3 items cost $22 . Great gelato, try it out.

Google
I had such a warm and welcoming experience at this gelato shop! The staff was really friendly and let me sample four flavors before I settled on two: mango and pistachio. I usually love pistachio, but it was a tad sweet for my taste this time, so I went with mango as well, which was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. The mango flavor tasted really authentic, and the staff mentioned it’s made from real fruit, which I definitely appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed the gelato and will definitely be back for more!

Google
Figo at the San Gennaro Festival in NYC is a must-stop! Their bomboloni and cannolis are out of this world – and they even have a unique Dubai cannoli that’s a total showstopper. Daniella was amazing, walking us through where everything comes from and how it’s made, step by step. Her passion and knowledge made the experience even more special. It was even on TikTok. Absolutely wonderful – I’ll be telling everyone to stop here!

Alis K.

Google
The best gelato I’ve had outside of Italy! The gelato is very smooth and not insanely sweet! Plus the location is very close to the station, making it a perfect spot for dessert! I send my regards to Arturo, who was very hospitable and gave us great customer service.

Google
Near Chinatown and in Little Italy area. It is a smaller store so less pastry and gelato choices. Some tables under outdoor structure, a couple of tables on the sidewalk. Hard to see the pastry choices and prices bec. of foggy display cases that day. Knew what we were getting so it didn't affect us that time. Bombolone and pecan bar again. We liked their rich hot chocolate. No restroom.

Google
The best gelato I have had outside of France/Italy. The coffee flavour was great. Nerone flavour was a bit over powering but would be awesome standalone. Might as well go for three scoops as it’s only an extra dollar! Pistachio flavour was unreal.

Amasi

Google
This is one of the best Gelato spots in NYC. Super tasty, many good flavors to chopse from, and good cappuccino! Service staff are friendly and sweet
google avatar

Anh T.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by this Figo location on a Wednesday night, and I honestly wanted to try everything when I was looking at the vibrant gelato colors. I settled for their Nerone while my friend got the Fragola. They gave us huge scoops on the cone, and it was worth the price! Nerone: I love that its vegan & dairy free, and the rich dark chocolate taste was not at all too bitter. Fragola: My friend's ice cream was lightly sweet with the perfect strawberry taste. It was not too sugary in her opinion too. There was plenty of seating available the night we came, but there was soon a long line that formed after we finished our gelato.
google avatar

Casey W.

Yelp
Super outgoing staff. Glad to have you there and you can definitely feel that energy when ordering. Outrageously tasty flavors of thick gelato. I doubled down on the Figo flavor. Ricotta cheese, figs, amaretto I think it was? So savory and sweet! If you want some unique flavors of gelato I would definitely check this place out :)
google avatar

Rafael S.

Yelp
The ice cream was excellent. The server was so empathic to us and suggested flavors and asked what to put first. We didn't sit there, it felt more appropriate to walk with the ice cream. However, the place looked really nice.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
Great gelato shop with a ton of flavors. I got the pistachio and it was super tasty, pretty heavy so I go cup, but feel free to overindulge, it's worth it.
google avatar

Lien L.

Yelp
This is really one of the best gelato shops in New York just because it's mom and Pop owned and the flavors are pretty authentic. My favorite flavor is the original figure but that's just my personal preference. I know other people like more of the classic flavors people in my family, like any of the citrus flavors or the nut flavor such as pistachio. Honestly, I don't think that you can go wrong with anything here. My only gripe is that this location is that it can get very busy because it's in little Italy so try to go to one of their other locations to get a more relaxed feel.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
This gelato place had a line out the door the first time I sought to try it. Upon returning on a worse weather day, I didn't have to wait too long. The flavors were abundant, and they offered options like a brioche gelato sandwich and various pastries. I stuck with classics and got a mix of mint gelato with delightfully drizzled chocolate and a strong hazelnut flavor. Fancier options like Dubai chocolate were well received by others in my party. The flavors were pure. The portions were small, but I think a small high-quality dessert is the way to go.
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
Okayyy I get the hype. It's smoooooth like a velvety cashmere on your tongue smooth. I did wish it was less sweet but it was delicious. Probably wouldn't go back since it's all too sweet but worth trying one time. Favorite gelato place of all time will forever be gelato laboratory!!!
google avatar

Evonne H.

Yelp
Loved the gelato there!! So smooth and yummy also not too sweet which is perfect for me..the Ferraro Rocher gelato taste so good!!! 10/10!! Will come back for more gelatos!!
google avatar

Yelp
Was in Chinatown and this location popped up on the map so didn't need to go to the Bleecker St location. It is a smaller store so less pastry and gelato choices. Some tables under outdoor structure, a couple of tables on the sidewalk. Hard to see the pastry choices and prices bec. of foggy display cases. Knew what we were getting so it didn't affect us that time. Bombolone and pecan bar again. We liked their rich hot chocolate. No restroom.
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
Place never disappoints. Gianduiotto special of the month was crazy delicious. Pistachio so smooth. Even the cones are good. The staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Carlyn C.

Yelp
I normally don't like gelato as much but I wouldn't have known this wasn't ice cream if you hadn't told me! We got the mango and pistachio flavors- would def get them again. The flavors are incredibly rich. This is a contender for one of my favorite pistachio flavors in NYC. Come after you do dinner in Chinatown or Little Italy for the perfect night cap. Small store and no seating so take it to go.
google avatar

Sonali K.

Yelp
I'm not sure when Figo came around, but I can't believe I've been missing out on this wonderful gelato all summer! I am so happy to have come across it on a random night in the West Village and then again while casually strolling through Little Italy on a child-free night. They have all the classic flavors, several "modern" flavors like dubai chocolate, and fun ones like marshmallow. My favorite is the ferrero rocher paired with the dubai chocolate. I get the cup with two flavors and the portions are decent for the price. The West Village location is bigger and has more seating, but the Little Italy location is quaint and charming. Can't wait to bring the kids here when they are back in town!
google avatar

Toshi I.

Yelp
Probably some of the best gelato I ever had! Prettiest display of all their flavors. I was full but had to try the Dubai Chocolate, Fig and Pistachio. They were amazing! We absolutely loved all three flavors. Only wish I could come back. Patio seating.
google avatar

Edward K.

Yelp
Just had dinner nearby on a Saturday night. Affogato was seemingly the perfect way to end a day of eating. Saw Figo on Yelp and knew it was the right choice. Clean and bright shop. Nicely laid out options but I knew it was affogato for me. Woman behind the counter confirmed that pistachio flavor would work in an affogato and I went with it. So delicious! The gelato itself was fantastic texture, mouthfeel, and flavor. The espresso is tasty and enhanced nicely by the gelato! Definitely worthy of a return!
google avatar

Marielle M.

Yelp
Very good non-dairy gelato! When I came they have lemon, strawberry, mixed berry, and dark chocolate. Service was quick even though it was a busy, hot day. There's not much room in the shop, but perfect for walking around with. Pretty pricey, but I would expect that for the area.
google avatar

Soroosh P.

Yelp
Very solid gelato. Service was okay but the flavors are satisfying. We had the guava which was excellent, the hazelnut and the signature sweet cream flavor. All of them were very good. The right balance of sweet and rich. Prices are reasonable considerable quality. Outdoor seating is limited. Don't sleep on the pastries they do more than gelato.
google avatar

Jennie S.

Yelp
This place is a must come to if you're craving gelato. It was absolutely delicious. We had the coldest weather ever but we had to stop by to grab a little sweet treat. This place is really good because you can get two scoops in a cup so I got a dark chocolate and a pistachio and my sister got a chocolate and a strawberry and oh my goodness it was so delicious The people that you try whatever flavors you want before you order and they're very generous with this so they were super friendly and very easy-going The restaurant itself is very clean. It makes you feel very comfortable in their seating inside as well as seating outside in a covered tent.
google avatar

Vivek K.

Yelp
Did I stumble upon one of the best gelatos in Soho? I think I have! We were just walking down mulberry and saw a nice looking place which looked too nice to be good, but after seeing the reviews decided to give it a try. They had a ton of flavors, a lot of the classics including their specialty figo, with figs in the gelato: 6/5 Hazelnut was so smooth and sweetened perfectly, which ended up being our go to 4.5/5 Pistachio was also smooth, but the only thing that I didn't like was that it was a bit too sweet 4.5/5 Figo was not as smooth because of the different fresh ingredients, but can see why it's their specialty If you are looking for high quality gelato, look no further! Glad I stumbled upon this place, and the cones were nice too!
google avatar

Nikita K.

Yelp
Figo is a great gelato spot and I love that they're open later in the night than a lot of other gelato places nearby. I got the stracciattela flavor in a waffle cone and it was delicious. Would definitely get again. Service is also great
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
~ So creamy! ~ The was a little bit of a line but it went pretty fast. Inside wasn't just an ice cream store but also a bakery. I got the pistachio, it was pretty yummy.
google avatar

Claire W.

Yelp
Wow such good gelato. Got the Dubai chocolate and pistachio flavors. They went so well together. I'm salivating just thinking about it!!!
google avatar

Gabe D.

Yelp
Service is fast and they give samples. Not too impressed with the gelato itself. It's also pretty pricey for what you get. There is a good amount of seating outside, though.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
When planning my trip to NY, I saw so many videos online about Figo and knew I had to try. Figo was a cute little shop and they had so many flavors available. A small downside for me is that they didn't have many fruit flavors, which is something I usually gravitate more towards to. There weren't many seats available so it's definitely more on the grab and go side. I got the mango and limoncello flavors and the gelato was standard compared to other gelato shops I've tried. The mango tasted slightly artificial. It was still delicious nevertheless, but wasn't anything too crazy. I came to Figo late at night and it was still bustling with people! The wait went by quickly and the workers were so inviting as well. Figo is a great place for a sweet treat run and I loved how it still felt so lively even at night.
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
This is some really good and smooth gelato. There is a decent variety of flavors for everyone, but they are all of quality. This place is a small and quick in and out shop which I wish had more seating since it can get quite packed during the summer. I agree with some of the other reviews that I did find that the gelato probably melts faster than other frozen treats. But that didn't stop me from devouring it in record time. I'd definitely come here again and I think you should give it a shot.
google avatar

Pimp D.

Yelp
Tiny place with outdoor seating. Great gelato selection. Enjoyed the Dubai chocolate and the Figo. Line moves fast.
google avatar

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Delicious and perfect dessert stop after a heavy meal! Despite gelato being in its name, I think the cannolis are a bit better than the gelato. Cannoli cream is soooo decadent and tastes fresh. Love it!! The gelato is also pretty good with fun flavors like pumpkin spice, but the texture just wasn't as creamy as I'd have liked. Staff are all quite friendly- not too talkative- and there's a bit of seating if you want to snack there.
google avatar

Fiona W.

Yelp
Amazing. Figo had some of the best gelato I've had outside of Italy. We got Sicilian Pistacchio, Stracciatella, & Mango. My favorite was between three mango and pistacchio. It had great flavor and texture. The servers were really nice. It's a smaller inside but it had good outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
Got to try Figo's gelato take-out in a group dinner setting and enjoyed it! I typically find gelato to melt really quickly and thus prefer regular ice cream. However, I liked how smooth Figo's gelatos were. My favorites were the tiramisu, which actually reminded me of some kahlua (but I think it was just espresso with a tad of wine), and ferrero rocher, which featured a strong hazelnut flavor. As a matcha girlie, their matcha lover didn't radiate the same matcha flavors I was use to. I nevertheless do appreciate the generous chunks of dark chocolate pieces because it gave a nice textural contrast to the gelato. The pistachio also had prominent nut flavors, although the almond extract flavors kinda stole the spotlight for me. I look forward to checking it out in person next time!
google avatar

Pratima M.

Yelp
A popular spot for delicious gelato in the Nolita area -- highly recommend grabbing a cone and wandering through Little Italy. The lines get long but the staff here is super efficient, didn't have to wait more than a few minutes. The Ferarro scoop was DELICIOUS, and they had a ton of other flavors (including some seasonal and sorbets) that I'll definitely be back for.
google avatar

Denisse R.

Yelp
I am a big fan of gelato so whenever I get the chance to try some new gelato, I take it. This is by far the best quality gelato I have tasted so far. So much flavor and the texture is perfection. I tried the Luca (my all time favorite which is cotton candy made with natural spirulina), Amarena (delicious cherry flavor), Dubai chocolate, Mango, Fragola (its a very natural tasting strawberry, not for everyone) . I definitely recommend you give them a try.
google avatar

Amber K.

Yelp
The gelato is super rich and not overwhelmingly sweet. I got the small size which comes with two flavors and they gave such large scoops. Would definitely recommend
google avatar

Taylor Z.

Yelp
The gelato here was all excellently made. My favorite was the cherry one they had. The family sized one is wild.
google avatar

Mary Z.

Yelp
This was some really good gelato in Little Italy! I believe I ordered the Tiramisu and seasonal Dulce de Leche flavor. I thought the Tiramisu was a little strong, but I LOVED the other one. Highly recommend for a little treat after dinner!
google avatar

Johnny Y.

Yelp
I don't normally head to this area since it's heavy tourist base. But tonight we lucked out and it wasn't as crowded. Decided to give this place a try! Lines weren't too bad. Fairly quick. They had a lot of interesting flavors that entices you to try em all. Which im sure they let you. I just took the chance rather then holding up the line. Got 3 scoops! Amarena - Dark Cherry, Figo - Ricotta, caramelized figs, amaretti and the classic Pistacchio. I have to say the Amarena and Figo was a more interesting combination. Wasn't bad nor was it good. I guess I wasn't vibing it as much as I wanted it to be but no complaints. Pistacchio was definitely my winner's choice. Can't be the OG classics. Overall this is definitely a good spot to hit up on a hot day. They also have seating outside to enjoy the warm weather. No seating inside FYI.
google avatar

Apolonia E.

Yelp
This gelato was the best I've ever had. My kids and I absolutely loved it! Their father even went back for a second cone. I tried the strawberry and Ferrero Rocher chocolate flavors, and they were incredible. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the texture was wonderful. This place is small, but it offers outdoor dining. It's exceptionally clean, and the staff is incredibly nice and friendly.

Laurelle S.

Yelp
I love the gelato sooo much! It's just like Italy! I usually don't get cotton candy but it's too good to pass up
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
After trying different gelato spots in town, I can confidently say FIGO is my favorite. I can't praise enough their creamy gelato texture, perfect sweet level, reasonable prices and attractive flavors. Their service is friendly every time. They were patient even I struggled between flavors and kept asking for samples. Reasonably priced as you can pick up to 2 flavors for a small cup of gelato at $6. Most importantly, their gelato scoop is on the larger side compared to other spots! *Ferror Rocher Imagine when a Ferrero Rocher is ground into gelato. It was sweet but enjoyable. I loved the Ferrero Rocher shell bits they blended into it, making it extra satisfying with a crunch. *Yogurt This was like a gelato version of froyo! It was very refreshing and would go well with any of their fruity gelato flavors in summer! Will 100% get this again. *Cannoli, Bacio di Dama, Chocolate Bacio di Dama, S-shaped Cookies I also got a box of assorted Italian pastries and I enjoyed all of them. My favourite is the pistachio cannoli beyond a doubt -- crispy shell, hearty fillings, and topped with many pistachios. *Nutella Bombolone Their bombolone was still warm when I ate, and the Nutella lava literally oozed out. The bread was bursting with buttery aroma and very fluffy.
google avatar

renje g.

Yelp
- Friendly service - staff wasn't much help in providing suggestions - I found the cannolis to be too sweet - I liked the pistachio cannoli
google avatar

Lizzy K.

Yelp
I have never been to Italy, it is still on my bucket list. Being said, I assumed this is pretty close to what it feels like to have good quality Italian Gelato. The only caveat is I actually had the water-based sorbet and Greek Yogurt :). Truly amongst the best I have had in quite a while. Rich, creamy and absolutely divine. Pricey but well worth it since you know you are getting a premium product and even for a small, the server gave us a generous scoop. A delectable treat, perfect on a sunny day walking around the LES. The inside was quite modern, loved the bold, green bright interior. The server behind the counter was quite helpful in us making a decision - gave us samples before we even finished asking and was quite amiable! It might be nice if this location had a bathroom since we did end up sitting for a while outside.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Figo is pricey but they just get it, unlike a lot of other places in NoLita/Little Italy; not a boring tourist trap that separates you from your money and leaves you still feeling hungry. This tastes like the real deal and actually worth spending $8-$10 on. We tried a couple of different flavors and both ultimately decided to get a cup of yogurt and dark chocolate sorbet. They were both absolutely delicious and tasted fresh. You would never know the dark chocolate sorbet is dairy-free or water-based because it takes like legit chocolate ice cream (or gelato). Will come down here again to try some more flavors!
google avatar

Emma N.

Yelp
The gelato was good. We came around 10:30-11 and there wasn't a ton of people. We asked to taste the flavors, but after a few tastes we felt like we were rushed to order. There's wasn't a line, so we didn't understand the rush. My favorite flavor was the figo, definitely recommend.
google avatar

Dianna N.

Yelp
Wonderfully delicious sweet treat! The staff patiently let me sample a couple flavors until I landed on Figo and Amarena Amore Mio. It was rich and had the perfect amount of sweetness that I was craving.
google avatar

Glenn C.

Yelp
Short review though I've been here a handful of times to this tiny popular gelato place. Very tasty gelato though not the best I've had in the city but plenty better than the other spots in the given area (and one of the few non tourist traps in iittle Italy.) I've tried their signature gelato as a sample which was pretty tasty as well as their Pistachio and Nocciola/Hazelnut which were both excellent. The Nocciola Panini is a good way of curbing an appetite. Surprisingly good Pistachio Cannoli as well so if you don't want to wait in line at one of the famous cannoli places nearby, I'd stop here instead. I'd go back to try their excellent sounding Monella (amarena cherry, toasted almond, hazelnuts, and dark chocolate) next.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely gelato near Little Italy on Mulberry St. The stracciatella and hazelnut flavors were both sublime, without being overly sweet, and with a texture that makes your taste buds purr. The small size cannoli are exactly the perfect size to split a bite between two people. The ricotta filling is again a highlight for not being overly sweet, and instead complimenting the pastry perfectly. Not a lot of seating inside, but there are plenty of cone options to take your treat on the go.
google avatar

Anita W.

Yelp
The gelato here was delicious. Lots of flavors to choose from and they allow you to sample before purchasing. My friend and I came here on a rainy Saturday afternoon and although there was only one worker managing the register and scooping/tasting, service was very pleasant and very quick. It was a bit pricier than expected - $8.00+ for 2 scoops of gelato in a cup. I a scoop of Figo (ricotta, caramelized fig, amaretti) and Ferrero Rocher, and my friend got a scoop of Figo and Nutella. There was good seating - covered seating right by the exterior entrance on the sidewalk and covered seating on the road. My friend and i took the seating on the road and there was a weird wet odor on the side we sat on (probably due to the musty downpour), but when we got up and walked to the other side, it had a very pleasant bakery smell. Definitely would return in the future as a treat, but a bit too pricey to come here regularly.
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Came by late after dinner. There were a few people inside and patrons sitting outside enjoying their gelato. They let you sample their flavors before picking, which is great. After we sampled a few, we went with pistachio and gambled on watermelon, which we didn't try but wanted a more refreshing flavor on a hot day. The pistachio had a good flavor, albeit too sweet. The watermelon tasted like an airhead. Avoid it if you can, unless you like that. It seemed more like a flavor geared toward children. The gelato melted quickly in the heat and was super creamy.
google avatar

Mei Qin Z.

Yelp
I've wanted to try gelato for the longest time but had no idea where to begin, especially given the abundance of options in NYC. Thankfully, I came across a fellow Yelp friend's glowing review of Figo and knew this was just the place. We came on a dreary day, and there were no customers when we arrived, but honestly, I was too excited to care. The interior was cute and green and gave major spring forest vibes. I did my research so I knew exactly what I wanted. My sister, on the other hand, contemplated between pistachio and caffè and ended up going with the latter. Their prices have risen slightly. It's now $7.50 (instead of $6) for a regular cup of gelato, with up to 2 flavors. The portions are huge though, so two people can easily share a cup. * Ferrero Rocher I was dead set on ordering this flavor, and it was everything I imagined it to be. Sweet, smooth, rich, and creamy, with blended Ferrero Rocher bits. I found an almost whole Ferrero Rocher piece at the bottom of my cup and loved the added crunch. * Caffè Absolutely divine and exactly how I like my coffee. This flavor perfectly balanced the sweet and creamy elements of gelato with the rich and subtle, bitter notes of dark roast coffee. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
The figo is good it's very buttery. I also loved the vegan dark choc one it is very strong and bold and deeply flavored. I wasnt a huge fan of the amaretto -- found the cherry flavor to be quite artificial (more maraschino than natural) and the texture a tad off
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Delicious, creamy gelato in a variety of flavors. I love the Milk Chocolate and the Mint Chocolate the best, my kids love the cream with chocolate chip. A great dessert option after stopping for dinner or lunch at any of the great nearby restaurants in Little Italy. Friendly and helpful staff, always willing to help provide samples and give recommendations if you're unsure what flavor to order. A great grab & go option if you need to eat on the run. But also consider hanging out and people watching - just note that seating is very limited.
