NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"It’s cold treat summer, and if you hang out around Greenwich Village, you should know about Figo’s third location. The Italian-run gelato shop focuses on classic flavors, like hazelnut, fig and ricotta, lemon, almond, and strawberry." - will hartman

It has a friendly, welcoming staff that makes the visit pleasant, but the gelato itself is a mixed bag, especially considering the price—around $3 per scoop, which feels a bit steep for what you get. While the dark chocolate flavor stood out as rich and satisfying, other options didn’t quite hit the mark. The tiramisu was disappointing and lacked the expected depth, the lemon was overwhelmingly sour, and the Ferrero Rocher, while decent, didn’t offer anything memorable. Overall, it’s an okay spot, but I much prefer Venchi for both flavor and consistency—Figo earns a solid 3 stars.

Lots of fun flavors to choose from! Nice prices for how big the portion sizes are. Ordered a lemon and strawberry sorbet - delish! Store was clean, had some tables for customers to dine in, and sold drinks and pastries as well. Nice place to chill at and to get dessert from. Staff was friendly and fast. Would come back to try the other flavors!

Visited in Feb 2025 Ended up dropping by this outlet of Figo based on a friend’s recommendation, and boy am I glad I did that. Tried a double scoop of Figo (yes there is a namesake flavor) and Sicilian Pistachio. Would 100% recommend folks to try the “Figo” flavour as it was just fantastic. Totally get why this place has such a high Google reviews rating.

Google
Absolutely worth it! Was honestly Is skeptical of the 4.9 star review for Gelato In such a popular area, but this Gelato was amazing!!! And Damm the server gave me a FAT stack of it lol. Plus customer Service was amazing, I was being extremely indecisive on what flavors I and the employee was Super patient and even offered me multiple samples without me when asking. I thought I might try 1 sample maybe 2, but then ge even recommended me a third to try after asking me if I liked fruity vs chocolate, which just upped the experience SO much for me. I ended up getting the cuore matto ( Raspberry cheesecake) and tirimasu, both delicious. The cuore though is a MUST try for people coming here. I will definitely be back for it again next trip 😛

This is one of three locations. The gelato is very good and there is a wide selection of flavors. I had the Baileys which was sweet and creamy. There is outside some seating on the Bleeker side of the store.

Google
Looks ugly but it tastes decent. The mango flavor is on point and the texture is creamy without melting too fast. Unfortunately, the passion fruit is just sour and no fruit taste. What doesn't make sense and seems like a money grab is the cup is more expensive and automatically a two flavor size. There's no reason why there can't be a single flavor, smaller size.

We had the pleasure of trying Figo on Bleeker on my birthday when we were in the neighborhood. Mauro was so friendly and personable and we had a lovely conversation with him. The place was bright and spotless and all the flavors looked so good. We tried (and bought) the fragola (strawberry) gelato and it tasted like fresh strawberries. The pistachio also was so delicious! Reminded us of our frequent trips to Italy pre-baby lol We'll definitely be back to try more flavors! We got a bunch and can't wait to try them all! Thank you again Mauro, for making my birthday extra sweet :)

Yelp
Ok stop everything - I just found the best ice cream in the US In the 17 years we live here I have never had a very good ice cream - now figo changed it all I took the Dubai chocolate (excellent) and cafe(pretty good) and thoroughly enjoyed my wide got the figs flavour and the amaretto flavours - both of them were excellent Reduce the ambit of diver by 15% and this place is don't to be a 5 star!

Yelp
Having been to Italy 2x (Giolitti in Rome) as well as being a regular patron at L'arte de Gelato and Gentile, I have high expectations of gelato. So when I saw Figo and decided to try it with my Italian partner, the flavors piqued our interest. I love yogurt flavored gelatos, cherries, as well as Dubai chocolate, so I was excited to eat it. I was disappointed at how artificial and buttery the flavoring was to be honest. Not the smooth, lighter, pigmented flavor I was used with authentic gelato. Branding, ambiance, and cleanliness was executed well. However, similar to another's customer's sentiment, the gelato itself felt less artisanal, and more industrial. The flavors were not very pronounced, but more artificial. Would not be returning as there is Riva Reno, Gentile, and L'arte de gelato as high quality options. Gelato vs. ice cream btw..gelato is supposed to be more silky and smooth, made at a slightly warmer temperature. Ice cream is more milky and heavy, and made at a lower temperature than gelato for those who do not know the difference.

Yelp
The texture and flavor of the gelato here is spot on! The employee was also super friendly and let me sample whatever I wanted. I ended up going with the dubai chocolate and pistachio in the smallest size cup, and it was packed high to the top! There was plenty of pistachio paste and crunchy pastry bits mixed into the chocolate that was so satisfying and rich. The classic pistachio was also smooth and creamy, and I really enjoyed it. They also have seated here which is such a plus! I'd definitely recommend.

Yelp
4.25 and rounded up for service. Small shop on the corner of Bleecker and MacDougal, the quality of the gelato is pretty good, the colors looked normalish which is a good sign. Walking by on a weekday, they were giving out samples outside the shop, so of course I had to try...then of course I couldn't say no to getting a small cup...then of course in my excitement I forgot to take a photo (oops). I ended up with pistachio and ferraro rocher flavors in a small cup $8.00. Both were rich and velvety, a good nutty flavor on both, I personally prefer a bit firmer consistency and when gelato is kept in enclosed tins for even cooling bc otherwise when gelato is "piled" in mounds it gets melty on the surfaces where it's exposed to air. I'm very partial to non-melted frozen desserts lol. That being said staff was very friendly and they provide samples of flavors if you want to try before you buy, so appreciate that effort, extra star for that! They also offer a variety of coffee drinks, Italian pastries and desserts like bombolone with different flavored crema inside $4.50, cannolis $3.59/$6.00, brownies $4/$5.00, tiramisu $8.00, croissants $4.50, cookies $3.00, also eclairs and cake slices. Prices are reasonable for the neighborhood. Recommend trying their gelato for a treat on a warm, sunny afternoon. I'll be back to try some other items!

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in on a hot Sunday and the line went out the door a little bit, but the line moved very fast. Everyone working was efficient and nice, which was great considering how busy they were. I ordered a regular cup with mango and strawberry. The mango is significantly better because it's creamy and the flavor shines. The strawberry is nice and tastes great, but the texture is quite crumbly for a frozen dessert. It's also a bit more expensive than I would usually go for, but they really load those cups.

Yelp
I thought this place was rather mid. Having just gotten back from Italy a few weeks ago I have a solid baseline for what good gelato tastes like and this ain't it. The pistachio did not taste as pistachio-y as renditions I've had elsewhere and the caffe (coffee) was way too sweet with a weird aftertaste. The Stracciatella was alright, but that's a pretty safe flavor that's hard to mess up. They have the nice, clean branding down but the actual product definitely could use some work. You'd do a lot better going to Gentile or Riva Reno (best pistachio I've had) instead.
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
Anissa is my fav. Dubai chocolate also terrific. I tried the figo, ok. I got two in a cone. Don't know if I like that you're penalized for taking a cone and it's more expensive. This is some of the best gelato I've had in the city. Extremely creamy. I like the branding and the color and plenty of seating.

Yelp
This place has an assortment of pastries/dessert items (..for next time) and gelato. Prices for beverages aren't bad. Seating available. Nutella bombolone was warm and freshly-filled when ordered. Ricotta and pistachio cake slice was light, even the cake layer, and not sweet, that I could have finished it. Flavor is mild though, could have more pistachio flavor. Nearest station is West 4th. Corner of Bleecker and MacDougal St., close to 6th ave, and W Houston St.

Yelp
I was walking by and needed a sweet treat. I love gelato! I got 2 scoops, mango and pistachio. The mango was literally perfection. It was smooth, creamy, and the flavor was strong. The pistachio was nutty. There were a lot of different flavors and you could sample. The place seemed clean and there is some seating indoors.
google avatar

Yelp
People sure do go crazy over Gelato. I stopped eating ice cream years ago, but if I still did eat it, I would choose gelato over ice cream every time. Especially if this company's claims are true that they do not use any artificial dyes or colorings and only quality ingredients. My dining partner tried several flavors and ended up going with stratciattella. He loved it. Prices high for that tiny cup, but they really pack it in there. Some seating inside. Was very crowded when we went

Yelp
Some of the best gelato I've ever had - incredible range of unique flavours, portions generous and the quality of flavour and ingredients are excellent. Tried the pistachio, a true classic - the Dubai chocolate, ridiculously good with chunky pieces rippling through - and the classic Figo - love the combination of fig, amaretti and ricotta - just WOW, the perfect after dinner treat with a stroll through little Italy
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in after a show at NYU - what a treat! I mean, the reviews are great, but this gelato is outstanding. We can't wait to go again. Service is super friendly - try some flavors before you choose. It may seem a little pricey, but as you can see from the photo, they really stuff it in there. We did the Dubai Chocolate and Anissa in one cup and Amarena and Figo in the other. (Figo and Dubai were the standouts, but all fantastic.) If you love gelato, definitely put this place on your list.
google avatar

Hank N.

Yelp
Got TGTG here, six dollars for two larges One was pumpkin spice, and coffee with very strong pumpkin flavor. The other was a hazelnut which was hitting the spot and dark chocolate.
google avatar

Jeny K.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this spot out & saw it was on ubereats! The gelatos arrived in perfect condition. The flavors were to die for. I can't wait to try other flavors at this spot!
google avatar

Yelp
You cannot miss this chain if you love gelato! Highlights of the menu: 1. Cappuccino 2. Ice cream scoops: pistachio, zucca piccante (pumpkin, ginger and cinnamon topped with cookies), Figo signature (ricotta cheese, figs, amaretti) 3. Ice cream floats with americano 4. Canolli

Yelp
Craved a late night dessert and not many dessert places are open past midnight. I got the Pistachio Bomboloni, and it is truly a masterpiece. The staff heats it up which takes it to another level. This is the most-filled bomboloni I've ever tried, and that's how I prefer it! It pairs really well with a side of gelato as well.
google avatar

Adina S.

Yelp
This was definitely a solid gelato spot! Was it quite at Italy level? No. Was it at Italy prices? Also no... but I was still pretty happy with it. They had a bunch of flavors, including all the classics. You could tell the consistency of the gelato was just right and the ingredients were of high quality. No complaints in terms of service or ambiance. It's a pretty small shop, so I'd recommend taking your gelato to go and walking/eating your gelato in a nearby park. Overall good stuff!

Bettie E.

Yelp
Amazing place not to be missed if you are in the city. I had the vanilla and strataciella--wow just wow. Probably one of the best I have tasted in recent years. There is a line--means it is good. Yeah save room for desert at Figo

Yelp
We went here twice. Free samples and the gelato is top notch. I highly recommend Figo.
google avatar

April T.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best gelatos in the city! I don't have a photo but their signature Figo was pur favorite BY far--I kept stealing some from the hubs! I got pistachio and Ferrero roche. Those were both good honestly. You can tell a good gelato place when their pistachio is nutty and flavorful but doesn't have any artificial taste. I definitely recommend their pistachio.. it's just.. their Figo was just so mind-blowingly good! If you're in the city looking for great gelato, come here!!
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
So good! They let you taste flavors and I love how creative some of the flavors are! I got cotton candy and coconut!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been singing my praise about their gelato since my first visit. Hands down the BEST gelato in NYC -- not too sweet, creamy, and reasonably priced with good portion. Their newest location in Greenwich Village offers limited flavors, including cotton candy, raspberry cheesecake and cookies & cream. Their staff are super friendly. Don't be shy to sample the flavors. My favorite flavors are Pistachio and Ferroro Rocher. Highly recommend their sorbet--Fresh Banana and 80% Dark Chocolate are chef's kiss. *Figo (ricotta cheese, figs, amaretti) Their signature gelato flavor aka the staff's favorite, drizzled with caramel syrup. The ricotta cheese is light and complements with the subtle sweetness from figs. The crunch from the amaretti adds more texture. A must-try unique flavor if this is your first time here. *Cuore Matto (raspberry cheesecake w. crumbled cookies) Available in Greenwich Village location only. I'm craving for sth light so I go for this flavor. The tart raspberry swirl and huge chunks of crumbled cookies guarantee satisfaction upon every bite. If you still haven't tried, this is a reminder: RUN DON'T WALK.

Yelp
I came in here Sunday afternoon around 3pm it was slightly busy but the staff are prompt and friendly. If you are unsure what flavor gelato you want they give you free sample(s). I tried the tiramisu first but didn't care for the flavor it didn't quite taste like that in my opinion. But the Dubai chocolate was delicious so got that in an affogato (the espresso was strong and went very well with the gelato) and you get 2 scoops with that. My daughter got the cookies and cream on a regular cone (she enjoyed it very much). It is a small location so can get busy but everything sort of moves at a steady pace. So when we first got there all the seats were taken but we got our order and then tables started to free up. They have a couple tables and seats outside in front as well.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
The best gelato I've had in awhile! There's plenty of seating inside and outside if you'd like to people watch. They were offering samples outside on a beautiful summer evening and the Figo worker was so patient with everyone! Really enjoyed my pistachio and hazelnut scoops! I'll be back for more gelato and try their other treats.
google avatar

Marilu S.

Yelp
I loved this combination of mixed berries and chocolate! It was a huge cup that was shared. The ambiance was fun and inviting there was a DJ playing some fun tracks. Great gelato shop for some tasty sweet treat. 10/10 recommend this gelato shop.
google avatar

Fay K.

Yelp
Highly flavorful tastes and fresh ingredients - you will LOVE this gelato! Friendly and quick service, and cute tables and chairs to relax at while you enjoy your treat people watching out the wall length windows on the corner of a Greenwich village street.
google avatar

Yvonne M.

Yelp
First time have a cube croissant and very extravagant, it's a bit messy to eat but delicious. The pistachio gelato was creamy but both were too sweet for me. I was able to try these from the too good to go app and they provided such generous variety. Staff were so friendly and welcoming!
google avatar

Keagan S.

Yelp
Such good gelato, employees let us sample a bunch of flavors and loved every one I tried. Store is really clean and nice
google avatar

Taylor A.

Yelp
Delicious gelato! I recommend the affogato and getting it with their coffee gelato! Lots of seating to eat outside.
google avatar

MengYao L.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. My friends and I stopped by a Tuesday night and it was so busy. We were able to sample a couple flavors and eventually decided on the strawberry cheesecake which was sooooo good and then the cotton candy flavor. My bf got the affogato with vanilla ice cream and he really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Joycelyn N.

Yelp
So yum this place is delicious. It is kind of pricy but they give you big scoops. We got the yogurt one and the cookies and cream. The girl helping us was so sweet too! Would def recommend.
google avatar

Seby I.

Yelp
Peach and pistachio gelato in a cup. Delicious! After the smash burger, I wanted a sweet and didn't want the soft serve at Butter Smash Burger and spied this gelateria at the end of the street. Bright, seating and lots of tasty desserts to choose from and I flew there. Chana made me a cup of the gelato and I sat down to eat it slowly. Apart from a variety of gelatos and sorbets there are cannolis, croissants decorated royally and other temptations asking to be eaten. Devoured in fact. If I had oodles of moolah and by magic didn't put on any weight with each bite I would have a gala time here. Opened a short while ago Figo is the third location. Miuro was the only person here and he was friendly.
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Some of the best most authentic Italian gelato we've had, period -- with so many interesting flavors and verrrrrry generous portions. The figo and straciatella sbagliata (with amarena cherries) were my favorites; my husband had the super dark chocolate and mixed berry sorbets which were delicious as well. New favorite for sure!
google avatar

Paloma F.

Yelp
Gelato was great!! I loved it so much and the staff here was polite, me and my family + friends had a great experience XD
google avatar

Rose B.

Yelp
This gelato rivals the gelato in Italy! Sometimes gelato can be a bit icy but this one was perfectly creamy. Love that you can sample flavors as well. The Ferraro rocher flavor was phenomenal as well as the pistachio. The only flavor that was mid was the tiramisu. Will be back!
google avatar

Kinjal S.

Yelp
Really good gelato. I got my usual stracciatella and it was delicious. Loved the chocolate flakes in it. They have other pastries as well but we didn't try.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
We walked by this place in Greenwich Village before a comedy show and so glad we stopped by! We were warmly welcomed by the two employees. It was a great place to stay warm on a very cold night and enjoy some hot beverages. I had a cappuccino and it was great! We stopped by after the show to hopefully try some cannolis but sadly they were out. We will definitely be back! Note: No public restrooms (visited 1-2-25)
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
If you want the most creamy, delicious and unusual flavors, please do yourself a favor, and go here!! I can't believe the array of unusual and unforgettable flavors!! I normally would not have gone in and chose with the beautiful array of colors, and flavors, Fig!! But when I tell you that this is the most tasty and sattisfying flavors--sweet but not overly sweet, I literally can't get over it!! Normally, I'd have had a dozen photos but when you come in, you get all business-like cuz after you taste a few, you just want it in your belly!! GO!!!
google avatar

Ayad A.

Yelp
I'll be honest this was a trap, I entered thinking that they sell Chi latte. I ended up getting mocha. It tasted very good with chocolate they have nice croissants ice cream as well 5/5
google avatar

Albert K.

Yelp
Really good Ferrero Rocher. Decent Oreos but not very Oreo flavored. Not enough sugar. Good pricing at $7.50 for 2 scoops! A bunch of seating. Harder to compare as Anita Gelato has some superior flavors and a lot more flavor. Inside venue feels a bit like a Pinkberry or juice bar with the green theme
google avatar

Samuel W.

Yelp
Taste variety and wait staff work flawless and with smiles to deliver a superb product and even encourage trying and delivering 2 different kinds in one serving. Can't go wrong with here!
google avatar

Yasmine D.

Yelp
I just happened to be walking by and decided to try some gelato. It was very good! I loved that they let me taste samples because they had so many flavors that sounded good. I was torn between tiramisu and coffee but picked the coffee flavor. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The cashier was friendly and service was quick for being packed in there. I would definitely go back and try other flavors!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Line may be long but it goes by fast and is soo worth it! Figo is the perfect spot to grab some gelato in a hot summer's day. Their flavors are delectable with the perfect creamy consistency. If you're feeling real crazy, you can even get it inside some brioche!
google avatar

Parinaz S.

Yelp
Best gelato in NYC! I had given up on finding gelato comparable to my favorite place in Florence, Italy until I had Figo. The texture of their gelato is perfectly creamy with just the right thickness. They have all the right flavors and the pistacchio is a MUST. Friendly staff, cute interior with seating. We had it every single night during our five night stay in NYC and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Caitlynn Y.

Yelp
my first time having a cannoli ever at this random cannoli place my friend found. wow what an eventful weekly dinner we ate sm. but i got my $3 cannoli expecting it to taste awesome but it was just a lot of cream. no offense to the cannoli itself but i just didn't know that it was cheese inside and that the cheese would taste like that LMFAO!! but it was good nonetheless. i ate it up when i got back to my dorm. but i don't think i would get a cannoli again. it just isn't my style. too much cream. and i already have an unlimited supply of cream back at home so there's no need for me to be full of cream in nyc too! anyways solid place! 4 stars!
google avatar

Therese F.

Yelp
Six dairy free options to choose from. Delicious! Fun vibe. Not a huge amount of seating, but we found a spot easy enough. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us several tastes to help us decide. The dark chocolate is sooooo good. Wish this place was in my neighborhood!
google avatar

Hollwyood C.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing Gelato! Voted the best in NYC by me! Try the pistachio and ferro roche gelato! Very clean prompt service! Diana was terrific! Couple of free samples which helped me narrow it down!
