East End is Rochester’s go-to neighborhood for nightlife, live music, and eclectic dining. Anchored by the Eastman Theatre and the Little Theatre, the area is regularly cited by Eater and the Michelin Guide for its dynamic mix of independent restaurants, craft cocktail bars, and late-night destinations. Its proximity to cultural landmarks gives East End a cosmopolitan edge, while its locally owned businesses ensure a distinctly Rochester flavor. Whether catching a jazz show or exploring new cuisine, East End delivers excitement well into the evening.

Food is always good when we come here. The bartender/waitress was very nice the last time we went too. We both got burgers and they were good. My burger is the TeX burger and he got the Mac and cheese burger. Did have the assumption it was actually Mac and cheese and it was only the bites on the burger, still was good.

Filgers and Masons were the ONLY 2 bars i would go to in the Rochester area! But since Masons moved to Brockport, I would only go to Filgers! Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun night out! 😊

This place used to be a dump, tends to be a packed bar, but its by far a much more tame bar compared to its close surrounding bars. If you like bar games and bumping into old friends, this is where it will happen.

Now, this was my first visit to Folgers East End. I will say the drink I had was good and affordable. However, I didn’t like that the day I went there was no food available at all. I like the venue was easy for all my friends to gather together and catch up. I would like to see them bring back the food at a later hour because I would have order from you instead of leaving to order from somewhere else. They did have quite the selection for drinks and I could taste it first before buying it. Overall, I’d like to see them do more with this Venue and we had a good time!

Google
Had a good time, not sure if they serve food since ive never been here before 10pm, good atmosphere, upstairs available sometimes. bathrooms need to be fixed a bit though. Lots of drink options. Bartenders are personable and quick. Drinks are fairly priced.

Despite the bartender’s best efforts (seriously she was very kind) the food took an hour+ to get to us. They said it just came out of the fryer but the pizza logs were cold. We ordered mild boneless wings and got garlic Parm instead.

Google
It is unfortunate that I could not give a 0 stars rating. The service here is outrageous and no one deserves to be dehumanized the way in which my family was just treated. This is very unfortunate because the food is fine but I can not let my family be yelled at and degraded so this will be mine and my family and friends last time at this establishment. To the waitress that proceeded to yell, be disrespectful and make rude remarks to my disabled husband I hope that you were just having a bad day and navigate this world with kindness.

Google
Bad Service to say the least PLEASE DO NOT WAIST YOU MONEY AT AN ESTABLISHMENT WHO WOULD ALLOW FOR PEOPLE TO BE TRATED SO POORLY. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES TO SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY THAT HIRE THOSE WHO WILL GIVE YOU A GREAT EXPERIENCE THAT WILL KEEP YOU COMING BACK. If your looking for a great experience with equally as great of food I suggest the Mad Hatter or Orange Glory Cafe!!!

Yelp
Dropped in for a couple of beers on a weekday night. Typical neighborhood bar. I felt the service was much better and the place was much cleaner than the nearby Murphy's. They have special offers for each day of the week but it was written on one of the walls. I would have appreciated had we been communicated the same by our waiter when she was taking our order. We didn't know about it until we were about to leave.

Yelp
I have always been a fan of Filgers East End. Although it does get crowded you can always get a drink in a reasonable amount of time because there are three bars! They have a huge assortment of beers and ciders on tap as well as a full liquor bar. I really like their food menu too! I enjoy the loaded tots! Who doesn't love a good tater tot covered in cheese and bacon! The staff is always friendly too!

Yelp
I had an amazing opportunity to volunteer at a charity event here. A local rescue I volunteer for, Operation Freedom Ride, was helping run the Mimosas and Donuts event. Part of the proceeds went to the rescue and we were also selling merchandise at the event! We had tables already prepared for us, lots of supplies, and great staff asking if we were all set. They made sure we were nice and hydrated, both water and mimosas! We even got some bar snacks to hold us over and the girls brought it right to us! In the end, we raised over $500. Couldn't have asked for a better venue to host us!

Yelp
absolutely the worst service!!! we got to the bar ordered a few drinks. The bartenders had such bad attitudes. we ordered food, mind you it was just a burger. I understand its going to take time,(maybe half hour) but not a full hour! none of the servers came up to us while we're sitting at the bar waiting to apologize for the delay. and when we asked to see if the food was ready. they finally brought it out. I refused the food knowing it had been under heat lamps for a period of time. and there was no other food being brought out at all! then asking for a refund the male server swore at me saying its (f$&@in) busy! absolutely floors me when I'm a paying customer! never go in this bar. you won't be happy at all!!!!

Yelp
Mediocre drinks, extremely loud atmosphere and rude staff. Would recommend if you enjoy the police lights from the street blinding you the whole time.

Yelp
Football Sunday and there was hardly anyone there. No freaking caramel habanera sauce.....SADNESS. We were also told they don't really have wait staff anymore? Their menu online does not match the menu onsite? We ordered wings half medium/half sweet and forgot to ask for them well done/crispy but they were, and they were delicious. We ordered another dozen BBQ and did order them well done/crispy and they weren't? The pickle chips were thin circles, crunchy and good, sometimes the breading fell off. The jalapeño poppers on the menu with cream cheese were with cheddar, but good sized, well cooked and yum. The veggie sandwich (pick your own veggies) on a hard roll, came on a baguette version of a sub roll. The vegetables were not what was ordered but we managed. Some of the potato chips were oddly limp and moist. Altogether an odd experience, the staff were friendly though.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst bars in Rochester. If you want to be elbow to elbow with strangers all night paying $20 a shot and listening to "Mr. Brightside" probably once a night then this is the bar for you! Oh... I forgot to mention the incredibly sad service and possible cover charge whenever they feel like it. Spend your hard earned money at a different, classier, local bar instead of Filgers East End

Yelp
This place serves all ages. And with a smile. It needs some cleaning, and smells weird, but not a bad bar to end the night. There are a lot of bros everywhere and it honestly isnt a spot for people over 25 and especially if you're sober. Good people watching though.

Yelp
Came here for my Hubby's work party. I was underwhelmed by the idea. I've been to this location over the years as I watched it transition from Karma/Barfly to Chocolate Bar to Buffalo Wild Wings to McGregors, so my expectations weren't high. I'll start by saying the service was wonderful. Our bartender/waitress was very friendly and accommodating. As for the ambiance it looks the same as it always has since it was Buffalo Wild Wings, typical sports bar - nothing special. The food was pretty good for "bar food". The pickle chips are sooo good, the breading/batter they use is so crunchy! Same goes for their chicken fingers, they aren't your typical chicken fingers that you find at other bars. The breading is extra crispy and flaky. The fries are just ok and same goes for the cheese quesadillas. The jalapeño poppers were good but nothing special. Their beer selection is really good. They have a large variety on tap, especially Rorhbach beer. They had all the Rorbach favorites and their seasonal beers. They even had a chocolate chip and peanut butter flavor. I personally didn't like the chocolate chip but it was nice to try. The bartender also gave us a small tasting of the "working man" beer before we ordered one since we never tried and it was so good! Overall, I think this place isn't too bad for a sports bar and would consider coming back again to watch a game.

Yelp
Filgers is one of the best bars for college aged students in the east/Alexander area. It's a large building which has 2 separate bars to order drinks and even has an upstairs with a pool table. Cover charge varies by how busy the night is and drinks can be pricy but all in all it will give you the experience you want on a Saturday night out.

Yelp
The bar robs patrons. I had gone here and the servers refused to return my card until I purchased another drink. When I consulted a manager, the servers escorted me out of the bar. When I called to inform them that my bank representative was going to remove the charge because of this, the phone receptionist hung up the phone on me. There's a lot of competition in Rochester around this bar. If management wants to stay in business, then I suggest the waitstaff change their behavior. I'll never return to this place because of their inability to serve alcohol, which is ironic for a bar.

Yelp
Opened a tab and got 2 bud lights for 10$ bartender lost my card and was charged 160$ basically got robbed for 150$ by filgers filed complaint with BBB and reported fraud terrible bar

Vladimir V.

Yelp
The bouncer didn't accept my genuine driver's license (I'm 22), then put it in his pocket and wouldn't give it back. The bouncer was way out of line -- NY state law forbids ID confiscation.

Yelp
Just do not order food if you're hungry. It's not easy to ruin a cheese quesadilla and they managed to do so drinks are always great, bartenders are attentive. Food needs to do better

Emma K.

Yelp
Went up the the bar to order a soda water for myself because I had had enough to drink and wanted to hydrate a little- sweaty bartender at the bar near the dart boards tried to charge me $3. I told him I would take a regular water then and he said "why the f*** are you coming to a bar to order water". He filled the glass and shoved it across the bar at me. I wasn't rude. I waited my turn and asked politely. I would have tipped him for his trouble if he hadn't been so rude. Won't be going back.

B H.

Yelp
Went there for lunch, the place was empty except for the 4 of us. We waited for someone to seat us, but the woman on the phone near the bar couldn't be bothered to acknowledge us. We waited 5 minutes and left to go to Murphy's Law across the street. The wings at Murphy's Law are delicious and the staff attentive.

Yelp
One of the worst bars I have ever been to. I opened a tab and when I went to close out 20 minutes later the bartender told me that he didn't have my card and that I never opened a tab. Then when I pressed the issue they had 2 bouncers remove me from the premises. The next day I called and spoke to a manager and sure enough they had my card. Place is a dump and they rob people save your money and drink at home

Yelp
Amazing place! Great beer variety, friendly bartenders. I love the tasting option before buying. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Although this is a great location and layout for a sports bar, I always seem to be disappointed. Let's start off with the beer. This is one positive, they have a good selection and have all the standard drafts as well. I wish I could say the same thing about their food. I was here a couple weeks ago during March madness and the food was a super disappointment. I am not one to complain but how hard is it to make nachos. The nachos looked like they were pre made and frozen like something you could buy in the freezer department. There was barely any cheese and chicken. I even let the waitress know of how disappointed I was but that didn't do much. Probably the worst nachos I have ever had. Service is not bad, but the past two times I have been here my friends have been over charged or charged for something they did not order. When discussed with management they said nothing could be done or changed to fix this. That just shows that they do not care about their patrons what so ever. That being said I do enjoy playing darts and pool and the spacious layout is nice, but something needs to be done with the food and service.

Yelp
I attended an event at this bar and the experience was horrible. Staff had restricted chair use for the first hour or so that I was there. After standing for some time I realized they had put out more chairs for those just coming in. That meant that people who got there early for seats were out of luck. Management was rude and continued to reserve seats long after it was clear nobody was showing up for those reservations. On top of that, the wait staff were talking to each other for about 10 min before coming over to take my group's order. I wouldn't attend any more events here and would be hesitant to visit on a normal night.

Yelp
Absolutely the new it bar in Rochester. So many games inside and so much space. Not sure why the second floor is sometimes closed, it can be annoying. Good drinks and prices and the perfect place for a bigger crowd which I like.

Yelp
The college hangout bar for the frat boy crowd. This place can get very busy during the late night hours but is sure to be lively. The food choices are minimal but they usually have a decent amount on tap. Typical bar food with nothing overly special. Plenty of room to stand and two bars with plenty of room to wiggle your way in for a drink during a busy time. If you are looking to just sit and relax for a while you will have time to do that before it gets to rowdy. Darts a pool table and the Jukebox with plenty of room to dance make this a good place for the multiple personalities in a group. You can have your sports person, your stay at the bar person, your get up and dance person, and the driver all have a good time without having to go from place to place making everyone happy. If you can get over the mild stench you will survive and most likely have a good time

Yelp
Drink specials were cool.. live music was great. Food? My dog could have made me something better from my microwave.

Yelp
Worst experience, payed for the 90s bar crawl and they took my friends license bc she's from out of state they just told her it was fake, they didn't even scan it they just looked and said it was fake and it was her license, she provided multiple other forms of id and they still told her it was fake, she's from Ohio she goes to college here in Rochester, the bouncer was expremly rude and wouldn't even listen to us when we tried to talk to him, we had made it threw most of the bars on the bar crawl and filgers completely ruined the evening, and completely ruined any chance we had of finishing the bar crawl challenge. Night ruined and money wasted thank filgers nice going maybe next time hire a bouncer who knows what he's doing.... and stops turning away your customers, never coming back so it's not my problem anymore.

Yelp
Fun place and friendly staff. I enjoy the open mic nights on Tuesdays! Good food, and coffee for people like me who need it at 8pm. :-) Also, great selection on tap!

Yelp
Filgers is about the 9th reincarnation of this bar and is very much the same as the previous setup that was MacGreggors. I had some poutine and wings while watching the champions league final and both were very good. Drinks are average - I am not a beer person, but they have about 50 different beers on tap. It is still the best setup in Rochester as far as TVs go for watching a game, or multiple games. Service was solid, much busier than they had expected so it was a bit slow. They also let us wear our horse masks during the Belmont.

Yelp
Might be one of the most underrated Lunch spots in the East End. Being as I work down here, I'm constantly looking for good spots to eat for lunch and I'm never disappointed by Filgers food or service. The Tex-fast burger is my go to. The BBQ on it is so good I would drink it.

Ben M.

Yelp
Michelle is a phenomenal bar tender!! She always knows when you need another drink and I never go thirsty here! Wings are great and there is an awesome selection of drinks here. Highly recommended for anyone on East End.

Yelp
Before I write the negative experience I had I would like to say I'VE BEEN A CUSTOMER HERE BEFORE SEVERAL TIMES and have had nothing but positive experiences with the service, drinks, and social environment. Today though I had an experience that was very frustrating and that almost made me decide to never go back. For the reader to understand this story first I need to explain that as a CUSTOMER IN THE PAST I owned a Driver's License Photo ID from Puerto Rico. STAY WITH ME. I recently moved to Rochester for school and decided to get a NY State Driver's License Photo ID last week since I am now a resident. As some of you may know, when you exchange your ID for a new state ID first you obtain an Interim License issued by the DMV (the state) and you receive your official ID by mail in the next 2 weeks. Last friday I came to the business with my Interim License and was asked to provide another form of identification. I was able to use my credit card from the bank since it has my name and was abled to get in perfectly fine. TONIGHT THOUGH (about an hour ago), I came back, a different bouncer was present, and he did not want to accept my Interim License... My complaint to the business is... make sure to have all your bouncers trained appropriately and applying the same policy with the customers to avoid creating different situations and frustrations with your customers. Further on, I might understand that possibly the bouncer tonight was trying to follow the correct bar policy... since the Interim License does not have a photo of me. I show him my credit card as another form of ID and still was not acceptable for him. (Just to make things clear, the frustration comes from being a previous customer and also for being accepted in with the interim license before.) This is where it gets funny... my frustration speaks up and says to him "Who would fake an Interim License?" he replies "I don't know but I think the DMV messed up for not supporting a picture" and I say "Maybe... but this is a legal document of my identifcation given by the state." (If a cop pulls you over and you show him your interim license he's not going to arrest you because there is no picture of you... he understands its a document issued by the state). He carries on by saying if I have something with my picture and my name like a school ID, he would let me in. Sadly I didn't have my school ID with me. EVEN IF I DID it would be crazy for him to let me in because the school ID is not a LEGAL document and if anything that would be the one thing someone could easily fake..... (Also, if a customer is standing there defending their identity would you think they're lying to you? If it were to be a fake ID the customer would not try to get in an argument...) My constructive feedback would be... these bouncers need adequate training and need to stick to one policy to avoid frustrations with customers. I will come back because I enjoy the service inside and I hope to see happy customers that won't bump heads with the bouncers because of their poor training and ignorance. If you read this far, thank you and I hope you understand! Customer satisfaction is very important.

Yelp
I will start off by saying the bartender, wait staff as well as Jeremy the manager were excellent. The problem I had last weekend was with the bouncer. My friends and I were part of the bar crawl. Around 8pm I decided to stop drinking knowing I had to drive myself and some friends home later on and needed to sober up. Not knowing my decision, My friends bought me another drink at the bar. Since the drink was poured and already payed for I looked for somewhere to ditch the drink. I found a mostly empty cup on a table next to the front door. I pored the drink in there and returned the cup to the bar. After doing so I was reprimanded by the door man saying I am in big trouble. I asked why he said I poured my drink into his bosses Cup. (I had no Idea it was anyone's cup, It looked like it was just left there) . Trying to explain this I was ignored and thrown out of the bar, (credit card still open btw) completely humiliated in front of my friends/other customers. I called the bar to explain what happened . I was hung up on once and then finally transferred to Jeremy the manager. Jeremy listened to me and told me he would talk with the gentlemen that threw me out. I was completely embarrassed . I understand that the entire situation was due to mis-communication I would just like to say , please inform your bouncers to listen to people before they ruin the night for your customers. I later had to return to the bar after calming down and get my credit card.

Yelp
If we are basing the review just on food and not ambiance, then I give this place 4 stars because the wings were really good and really crispy. Some of the best wings I've had in Rochester. I went on a holiday weekend and most other places were closed. The actual location is not in the best shape but I've been to a lot of places in town that also have the same look. Wings are cheap on Wednesday, I believe .50 a wing. The service was great but we were also the only people there at first but it started filling up as we were getting ready to leave.
google avatar

Charles M.

Yelp
Some of the best bar food around!! Seriously. The jalapeño poppers are unreal and the mozz sticks are some of the best I've had, perfectly cooked. Huge selection of beers from all over so they've definitely got something to please your tastebuds. The burgers are out of this world and the fish fry is something to go out of your way for!
google avatar

Yelp
Michelle is an epic bartender whose bar tending skills exceed the expectations of even the most avid bar hopper. Her friendly personality and endless humor make for a great night of drinking. She is also an amazing supporter of the US Armed Forces! It is because of Michelle and the other extraordinary staff that I make Filgers my hydration station following a stressful day at work.

Abbey F.

Yelp
I use to really like this place. When I was younger, my friends and I would always go there. After the ownership change, I've seen it go downhill. A few weekends ago, my friend and I waited in line for a half hour to then be kicked out of line because we asked how long it would be till we went in. They let about 20 people out and still wouldn't let us in. The "security" guy was just a jerk, plain and simple. I would go back to Filgers if that security guy was not there.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Had a business meeting here. Great prices. The buffalo chicken tender salad was the way to go. Nice city bar atmosphere inside.

Chuck R.

Yelp
The place has a good selection of beer and very pleasant bartenders, but there's a "security" guy there who is borderline insane. Three of us went there one evening, had 3 beers each and were KIcked Out for "being too drunk". Basically, we watched the little security man go around and harass just about every African-American male who came in there and kick them out if they talked to white girls. This was very disturbing to us since no one else seemed to be targeted. After a while, we were goofing around tossing a napkin around, bouncing it back and forth and when I went up to get a beer, little security man gives me some line followed by "Yer Done". At first I didn't believe it, but if you see they guy, you will. I then asked to speak to his manager and he replied " It won't work". I asked the manager what the policy was for being kicked out and he said "acting rude, causing fights" etc.. None of which we had done. I asked him why We were being thrown out and he simply said because his Guy said so. He had no reason other than that. We had done nothing even remotely wrong, other than goofing around, having fun, which I guess is enough to cause Mr. Security to get all up in people's faces. My friends and I will never even step foot in this place again thanks to this fool who clearly derives pleasure from running this bar like it's a Study Hall. Stay away, unless your idea of a good time is sitting quietly in a bar obeying a man with no life.
